Pingback: Who Made It To Nationals? | The Gymternet
Is it typical for so many juniors to be scoring higher/as high as the seniors? Based on the lower score needed by juniors to qualify for nationals it seems like they aren’t expected to be, but it seems to be the trend for many of the meets so far this year.

A lot of top senior elites don’t attend early competitions or don’t show up 100% ready for them, while most juniors’ goal is to make P&Gs, meaning they need to be more on top of their game because they need to qualify. Most seniors already ARE qualified, and it’s also the year after the olympics, and the American Classic has never been a competition most senior elites attend. However, there are many talented juniors this year as well.

Yeah, most gymnasts don’t go elite as seniors, so you rarely see seniors at the American Classic, let alone the strongest seniors, because you don’t often see girls who are 16+ come in like “I’m ready to try for my first nationals.” It’s usually a couple a year max, whereas at least 100 junior-aged gymnasts attempt to qualify elite every year, so you’ll often see a larger number of them show up at classics. At the U.S. Classic you see more seniors because it’s used as practice for nationals, but with the American Classic, it’s not really a big deal since it’s held at the ranch and they don’t really need more experience competing at the ranch since most do it monthly anyway.

WHO IS JADE CAREY AND WHY DIDN’T SHE COMPETE BARS? Also, Leanne Wong is amazing and her gymnastics makes me so happy.

Apparently her bars are a bit weaker than her other events. But even without bars, if she can repeat these scores at Classics and Nationals, it would be crazy to leave her at home, especially in an individual year at Worlds. She can always work on improving bars next year when there’s a team event at stake.

Does Jade have a second vault? That is the one critical question if someone is being sent to compete vault and not all-around in an individual worlds (although her floor and beam scores might make the case for her anyway).
