3:15 pm. The automatic national team is Leanne Wong, Kayla DiCello, Sunisa Lee, Skye Blakely, Konnor McClain, and Olivia Greaves!

3:08 pm. Jeffrey UB: Toe 1.5!!!! On the low bar!! Maloney to Pak (legs apart and caught close), van Leeuwen is clean. Lovely handstand before her blind change to straddle Jaeger. Full-in with a hop.

Blakely BB: Love her mount series. Good bhs loso, little check, punch front with a bobble, solid switch to switch half to back tuck, just a little shy on the switch half. Jump series into…a side aerial I think?? Didn’t get it quite around and stumbled a bit but stayed on. High double tuck with a little bounce.

3:06 pm. Lippeatt UB: Hard miss on her opening Tkachev. Messy arched Pak with her legs apart, has to fight through her casts after that, back up on the high bar for a toe on to toe full right on the bar, full-in with a step back.

German BB: Switch to sissone to split jump, came off on something after that but I didn’t see what. I didn’t see the rest either, just saw her fall when I heard the crowd react.

McClain FX: Beautiful double layout! Just a little step back. 2.5 to front full into the corner but she keeps it inbounds. 2.5 to front tuck is lovely, step forward. Clean double full with a step back. Brilliant. NATIONAL TEAM FOR SURE!

3:04 pm. Dean FX: 2.5 is better today. L hop turn to switch half to Popa, love that series. 1.5 to front full is a little bit of a struggle. Hands down on her double pike. 😦

3:02 pm. Chio VT: Clean, flared, and stuck FTY! Feet just a little apart.

Rosen BB: Wobbled through her bhs loso. I didn’t see most of the rest. Soft knees on her double pike.

Scott UB: Deeep inbar to stalder to HUGE Ray YAAAAS. Another great inbar to Pak, clean but caught close and has to fight through. Van Leeuwen, toe full, stalder half to straddle Jaeger, BIRDS JUST FLEW OVER HER LMAOOOOOOO, TWO LITTLE BIRDS. She’s a Disney princess. Double layout to her knees. 😦 UGH.

3:01 pm. Jung Ruivivar FX: 2.5 with a little step to start. Beautiful work on her turns. Switch ring to ring leap. Love this choreo section after her leaps, she’s SO FABULOUS. 1.5 to front full, nice control. Switch half. Double tuck, little bounce forward. SUPERSTAR.

2:59 pm. Alipio BB: Front aerial to split jump to straddle jump, bhs bhs layout is REALLY nice! Switch leap to switch half, great. Bobbled a little on something after that, hit her side split jump half. Good 2.5 dismount.

Wong UB: inbar to Chow to Pak to Chow half, lovely, toe full a little late, stalder half to piked Jaeger, awesome, stuck double layout. National champion much?!

Butler VT: Stuck her FTY!!!!! This QUEEN. What a meet for her!!!!!!!!!!!

2:58 pm. Greaves FX: Tucked full-in to start. Front tuck through to 2.5 to stag, excellent! Switch ring to tour jeté half, double pike with a step. Double tuck is solid, just a tiny bit low but nothing to get upset about.

DiCello VT: DTY, huuuuge, and stuck! Just some leg stuff in the air with soft knees and some crossing.

2:57 pm. Neault VT: FTY, a little soft throughout, good landing.

Finnegan UB: Full, Maloney to clean bail to toe shoot, toe half to straddle Jaeger, some weird leg bends in the Jaeger, double front is SUPER clean, little hop forward.

2:54 pm. Morris VT: FTY, twists late but hits it, solid landing.

Lee UB: Stalder half to piked Jaeger, Nabieva to Pak to Maloney to Gienger, looks EASY for her but still some form issues on the Nabs, toe full right on the bar to full-in, that was really nice aside from the little form stuff.

Tatum BB: Hit the beginning, then a switch leap into her jump series. Side aerial to back handspring is good, punch front is super low, side hop full turn, full pirouette, double full with a hop back.

Gravier FX: Double pike is lovely. Also hit her second pass. 2.5 after that with a step forward. Front full a little low at the end.

Harris VT: Yurchenko 1.5, solid, just slightly soft knees. Great landing.

2:48 pm. Rotation 7 Standings

1. Leanne Wong 98.000
2. Skye Blakely 96.300
— Kayla DiCello 96.300
— Sunisa Lee 96.300
5. Konnor McClain 95.950
6. Olivia Greaves 92.950
7. Tori Tatum 92.800
8. Karis German 91.550

2:46 pm. Butler FX: Piked full-in, little bounce. Her choreo is SO cute without being cutesy. It works for her and for this routine. Superb 2.5 to punch front tuck. Sass choreography! Switch ring to tour jeté half. Front double full with a step forward. Full L turn to full pirouette. Snappy finger choreo now. God this is so good. Switch full into the corner. High double pike, bounce back. Dive roll gets applause again. SHE IS A QUEEN.

2:42 pm. McClain BB: Huge floaty layout series, leg up but fights it. Great standing full!! Wolf jump, leg practically hits her nose, it’s so piked! YAS. Side aerial. Switch leap to switch half, back tuck not really connected but that’s okay. Front aerial, split ring jump, double pike dismount, step back. GIRL.

DiCello FX: Big double layout to start. Nice front double full, switch ring to Ferrari. Hit the 2.5 well. Double tuck comes in SUPER high but maybe a bit too much power…big hop and her leg flies up behind her but fights it.

Skye Blakely just got the biggest smile on her face and then grabbed Karis German and shook her and said “ONE MORE EVENT” hahahahaha.

2:39 pm. Dean BB: A little slow on her flight series but still gets it around. I missed most of this after that but she hit her 2.5 dismount with a big step.

Neault FX: Double pike is nice. Double tuck, hop. Double full to finish. I feel like I missed one of her passes. A mostly strong routine!

German UB: Stalder to stalder full (a little late), van Leeuwen (crossed ankles), toe on to stalder half to front giant to huge piked Jaeger, bail, Ray, double layout with a little hop.

2:38 pm. Rosen UB: Nice Jaeger, double pike dismount, pretty open, step back. Mostly solid!

2:34 pm. Alipio UB: Stalder full is a little late, short handstand before her Maloney to Pak, legs a bit in a V. Van Leeuwen, legs slightly apart, arched in a handstand before her toe half to piked Jaeger, she’s a little far and can’t grasp it, hard fall and misses the majority of the eight-inch mat. Open double tuck to finish.

Lippeatt VT: FTY, pikes it down considerably and doesn’t get much air time at all. Won’t score well.

Harris FX: Nice Memmel to illusion. A little short on the tucked full-in. I missed her second pass. Double pike is a little low and her double tuck at the end has a bounce with her leg coming up.

Jung Ruivivar: I caught it from the side aerial, hit a lovely jump series after that, GOOOORGEOUS side split jump half, chest forward on this to compensate for landing it a bit too far backwards on Friday, smart kid. Leg up on the bhs loso but she saves it. Full turn is clean. Came off on something after that but I missed what. 😦 Lovely double pike with her chest just a tad low, step back.

2:31 pm. Finnegan VT: DTY, lovely in the air, a little short in her rotation though, and a big hop back.

Tatum UB: Toe full to Maloney to Pak, van Leeuwen, some ankle stuff, blind change to piked Jaeger, nice. Muscled up a front handstand, double layout with a little bounce.

Greaves BB: Nice split jump to straddle jump. Punch front is almost overrotated, little step. Double tuck with a hop. Everything else I saw looked good, just a couple of small wobbles.

Morris FX: Tucked full-in, a little low with a hop. Hit her second pass. Clean double pike, maybe a little low. Omg her little hand choreo when she walks off the floor is hilarious and adorable.

Wong VT: Beautiful DTY, only slightly crossed ankles near the end, little hop.

2:27 pm. Jeffrey VT: Clean and flared FTY, just a little short and crooked with a hop to the side.

Blakely UB: Inbar to inbar full to big Tkachev to super clean Pak, AMAZING. Maloney, slight leg sep, didn’t do her giant half out of it though. Front giant, good stalder to full-in.

Gravier BB: Hit routine, everything I saw looked good, double full dismount with some ankle issues and a little hop.

Chio FX: Hit the double pike to open. Also hit her second pass and then a 2.5 for the third. Hit her last pass.

Lee VT: Suuuuper low and messy DTY. Kinda scary crunched landing. 😦 Definitely gonna get hammered for that.

2:24 pm. Rotation 6 Standings

1. Leanne Wong 83.250
2. Kayla DiCello 83.150
3. Sunisa Lee 82.800
4. Skye Blakely 82.600
5. Konnor McClain 81.800
6. Olivia Greaves 80.200
7. Tori Tatum 79.550
7. Karis German 78.400

2:21 pm. DiCello BB: Yay, she’s by herself with no one else competing so I get to fully pay attention. Triple wolf turn, bends her knee a little, and does it on the double as well, but it’s not super severe today. Side aerial is solid, into a split jump to sissone. Very clean on all. Switch ring, flexed back foot, bhs loso loso, again with slightly soft knees. Front aerial to split ring jump, low back leg. Clean side split jump half. Double full with a baby step.

2:18 pm. Neault BB: Her mount got applause and OOOHS but I missed it. Punch front, good jump series almost connected. Lovely front aerial to split ring jump. BEAUTIFUL switch ring!! High double tuck, jerks back on the landing a bit and has to take a step but overall that was nice.

2:16 pm. Wong FX: BEAUTIFUL double arabian to stag. Solid triple full. Double pike is a little low, buckled knees on the landing. Stumbled around her L turn a bit. High and lovely 2.5 to finish.

Dean UB: Caught her first release and then her second as well. Toe full to Pak, very nice. Van Leeuwen caught a little wonky, clear hip, double pike with a little step.

2:13 pm. Finnegan FX: Arabian double front, clean and lovely and solid. Good 2.5 to front layout. Hit her third pass. Double full to finish.

Harris BB: Little wobble on her split ring jump. Good bhs loso bhs. Switch leap to split leap to full Y turn, LOVE HER SO MUCH. Side aerial. Side somi. Front aerial to split jump to straddle jump. Side straddle jump half. Nailed the double tuck, stuck! She is a queen.

2:12 pm. Just got the news that Sydney Barros will scratch everything but bars, and even bars isn’t for sure yet…they’re gonna wait and see how she looks in the touch before confirming.

Jung Ruivivar UB: Inbar to toe half to piked Jaeger, good! Toe full to Pak, just the slightest leg separation. Stalder to van Leeuwen, GOT IT!!!!!! YAS. High stuck full-in!!!!!!!! LEVI!!!!!!!!!

2:09 pm. Greaves UB: Piked Jaeger, fall. 😦 Big Downie. HUGE Ricna to Pak, toe-on to van Leeuwen, blind full is a little wonky with some leg form, low but clean full-in. God, that first fall is killing me.

Morris BB: Excellent triple flight series. Big switch half right into a jump. Bobbled on something after that. Double pike with a hop. Another solid set from her!

Lee FX: Clean and solid double layout, stuck. Great tucked full-in. Hit her third pass which I always miss, something into a front full! 1.5 maybe? Double tuck to finish is a little short.

2:06 pm. Tatum VT: DTY, not the cleanest, chest down a bit on the landing and she took a step OOB.

Gravier UB: Caught her piked Jaeger, SUPER clean Pak, stalder to Ray, toe-on to blind full, little step on her dismount. She’s so clean!

Chio BB: Solid bhs mount. Excellent triple flight loso series. I missed some of the interior of this routine but she finishes with a low double full.

Jeffrey FX: Double arabian little hop. Clean double pike after that. High double tuck with a little bounce in place. Double full with some crossed ankles, good set.

Alipio VT: FTY, very clean! Solid landing.

Rosen VT: FTY, good landing, some little form things in the air.

2:01 pm. German VT: One of the more powerful FTYs! Bounce back. Mostly clean.

McClain UB: Inbar to inbar half to piked Jaeger, Pak, Maloney to stalder half, full-in with a lunge forward.

Butler BB: Hit her jump series at the start, bhs bhs layout full, YAS!!!! Switch to switch half to back tuck. Onodi to sheep jump, stuck her double pike dismount. THIS KID THO.

Lippeatt FX: Piked full-in, a little short. 1.5 through to low double tuck. 2.5 to front tuck. Double pike with a bounce back. Good!

Blakely VT: Lovely DTY!

1:58 pm. Rotation 5 Standings

1. Leanne Wong 69.850
2. Sunisa Lee 69.750
3. Kayla DiCello 69.350
4. Skye Blakely 68.100
5. Konnor McClain 68.050
6. Olivia Greaves 67.000
7. Tori Tatum 65.700
8. Alexis Jeffrey 65.200

1:54 pm. Wong BB: I caught it from the switch leap to straddle jump, super solid bhs loso loso, nice full L turn to full pirouette, bhs to straddle jump full is slow but I love her going for that. Side aerial, side somi, front aerial to split jump, triple full isn’t as controlled as it was Friday, big step back to control it, but overall REALLY nice work as usual.

Alipio FX: Good double pike and then a very clean 1.5 to front full. 2.5 at the end is solid as well. Good work.

Neault UB: Toe full to Maloney to Pak, clean, high toe shoot, great amplitude, toe half is perf into a big straddle Jaeger, double tuck with a tiny bounce.

1:53 pm. Harris UB: My fave. Ray, nice, super clean bail held in handstand to toe full to toe shoot, ankle sep on her blind change into her Khorkina, got an OOH from the crowd, double layout with a little hop. Some tiny fights in there but nothing super rough, she’s SO underrated.

1:52 pm. Tatum FX: Tucked full-in, bounce back with a step OOB. 2.5 to front pike, lovely. Hit her third pass, I missed what, and her double tuck at the end is high and solid on the landing, close to stuck.

Finnegan BB: Switch ring, weird back leg. Bhs loso loso, splits the beam kinda on her second loso and goes flying backwards onto the mat, landing on her back. OOF. Side aerial to back handspring, but her hands down on the beam. Front aerial, hit her jumps, clean and stuck double full.

1:51 pm. Morris UB: Toe on to inbar half to piked Jaeger, good, just the tiniest ankle separation. Pak with some leg sep, stalder to toe shoot is nice, toe full legs come apart and she goes a bit crooked but no problems going right into the full-in, hop forward.

1:48 pm. Chio UB: Ankles apart on blind change into the piked Jaeger, lovely stalder to bail (ankles apart) to toe on to toe shoot. Legs apart on her full pirouette before the dismount, a solid double layout.

Lee BB: Double wolf turn, front aerial, bhs bhs layout, BEAUTIFUL!!!! Hit split jump to sissone right after. Switch to switch half to back pike, OH MY GOODNESS. SO GOOD. Perfect side aerial loso loso, I’m crying!!! A little bobble on a leap into her split ring jump, check there as well, solid double full dismount. Those little bobbles at the end aside, this was GOLDEN. I have actual tears.

Blakely FX: Hit her opening pass, a tucked full-in. Then a double full, and a 1.5 to front tuck. Little bobble back on the double pike. Clean work.

1:46 pm. Greaves VT: FTY, the cleanest of the bunch so far! Good landing too.

Jeffrey BB: I caught it from the bhs loso, which looked great. Solid standing punch front after that, and then a leap into a back tuck I think. All solid. Big switch side, sideways straddle jump, quick double full, stuck cold.

German FX: Opens with a great double layout. Tucked full-in is a little short, 1.5 to front full with a little bounce. Super high double tuck with a bounce back.

Jung Ruivivar VT: Solid FTY, looked stuck! Oh, in the replay she sticks for a second but then takes a step back and OOB to steady it.

1:45 pm. Butler UB: Stalder full to Maloney to clear hip half to toe half to piked Jaeger, great. Big Ray, and she caught it today!. Toe full to Pak, double layout, great landing. YESSSS!!! That was awesome.

Gravier VT: FTY, again not bad, just no one with anything crazy powerful on vault just yet.

1:43 pm. No Sydney Barros on beam.

Lippeatt BB: Hit the flight series. Solid punch front. Stuck the double pike with her feet apart. Everything else seemed hit from what I saw!

Rosen FX: Tucked full-in to start. Front tuck through to double full. Double pike, a little low with a hop. Double tuck, also low with a hop.

McClain VT: FTY, good.

1:42 pm. Dean VT: FTY, clean and stuck!

DiCello UB: Toe full to Maloney to Pak, lovely. van Leeuwen, clear hip arched a bit to blind change to piked Jaeger, nice. Great full-in, solid landing.

1:34 pm. Athletes have marched out, the anthem has been sung, LET THE TOUCH WARM-UP BEGIN.

Claire Dean will start on vault, Kayla DiCello on bars, Sydney Barros on beam, and Katelyn Rosen on floor.

In case you missed my tweet earlier, Jordan Bowers has scratched the second day of competition. She walked in earlier and went to bars during general stretch, but then came off of the podium looking a bit dejected and gave her coach a big hug that lasted several minutes. It was clear something was off, and then while her rotation warmed up on bars, she just stood there at the chalk bowl cheering them on before leaving the arena floor as they went to beam. Not sure what happened but at least they’re taking precautions with her and not pushing this on her when she’ll probably be added to the national team anyway with the spring she had.

  1. Watching the international feed with this as commentary is brilliant. Love it. Good for Jordan that they didn’t force her to complete the comp, regardless reason.
