5:13 pm. Headed to the mixed zone! Will post standings when I come back.

5:10 pm. Volleman NED FX: THE QUAD SPIN TO DOUBLE SPIN I’M SCREAAAAMING. Full-in is good, double tuck with a bounce OOB. 1.5 to front full, stuck cold. Triple spin like it’s easy as hell for her. Fantastic routine.

Pardo COL BB: Hit routine, double full with a bounce for the dismount.

5:07 pm. Visser NED FX: Hit her first pass. Good 1.5 to front full at the end.

Escobar COL BB: Had a fall I believe.

Traukova BLR UB: Hit set, stuck the double front at the end! Love these Belarusian babies!! Let’s hope they get the chance to go to the Olympics next year and not someone who has never stepped foot in the country.

5:05 pm. Lavy ISR VT: Handspring front tuck.

Ardila COL BB: I missed this one. 😦

5:03 pm. Netzer ISR VT: Goes for the tsuk double!! It’s not the best but not bad either. OOB I think.

Van Pol NED FX: arabian double front is great! Hit the middle pass, and a 1.5 to barani at the end I believe.

Netyazhenko BLR UB: Big Tkachev, bail to toe on to toe shoot, layout dismount is good.

5:00 pm. Polderman NED FX: Whip full to double full, nice, illusion turn, Whip to double tuck. Front tuck through to a twist but she sits it.

Vera COL BB: Bhs loso, switch to split jump, hit the dismount.

Lastouskaya BLR UB: Big Tkachev! SHE’S SO WEE!!!!!!!!!!! Muscles through a blind change before her front giant, bail is more like a shootover, toe shoot, hit the dismount. That was very promising!

4:58 pm. Sanne Wevers gets a 14.033! E is 8.633.

4:54 pm. Meixner AUT FX: Just saw a layout full. Hit routine.

Wevers BB: Double L turn, I think that was out of a series but I missed the beginning. Side aerial to back handspring, lovely, front aerial to split jump is a bit slow. Kochetkova, nice, hit a spin to a double spin, then pauses and dances, then another spin to a split leap, Steingruber dismount. Not her best in terms of connections but I can’t see well from here so we’ll see what the judges think.

4:53 pm. Vera COL UB: Good routine, little pause in her blind full, layout dismount.

4:50 pm. Mader AUT FX: Front full with a step to the side. Hit a double back after that. Switch to switch half.

Van Pol NED BB: Switch leap to split leap, solid. Little check on the bhs loso. Switch half, another little check. Side somi, fall. 😦 Hit the dismount.

Escobar COL UB: Big Hindorff! Bail is clean, to toe shoot. Blind full, full-in with a hop.

4:49 pm. Traukova BLR VT: Solid FTY! Just a step. Not a ton of power. OOB maybe.

4:46 pm. Mörz AUT FX: Double tuck, step back. Good second pass. Hit routine.

Visser NED BB: Side somi, Side aerial to back handspring. Split leap to split jump. Double full dismount with a bounce back.

Netyazhenko BLR VT: Yurchenko layout with a bounce.

Pardo COL UB: Looked good from what I saw, just a dead hang on her toe shoot. Hit the dismount.

4:45 pm. El Keky QAT VT: A non-salto tsuk. I think she was going for a tsuk pike but balked it and just didn’t salto.

4:43 pm. Frysak AUT FX: Split jump full. Double pike, step back. Good double tuck. Hit routine.

Volleman NED BB: Back handspring mount. Front walkover to front toss. Wobble on illusion turn. I missed some stuff after that. Double full is solid. Good work.

Ardila COL UB: Omg their leos up close are fantastic. Double layout, solid.

Lastouskaya BLR VT: I missed it!

4:37 pm. Hämmerle AUT BB: Good jump series. All I really saw.

Wevers NED UB: Clear hip to shaposh to clear hip full to bail to toe shoot, blind full, straddle Jaeger, clean stuck double layout! YAS.

4:33 pm. Meixner AUT BB: Off on an acro skill. Big wobble on a side somi.

Castles SWE FX: Memmel turn. Good 1.5 through to 2.5! Her leaps were also gorgeous. Lovely routine!

Visser NED UB: Muscles through toe full to Maloney to Pak, van Leeuwen, bail to stalder full to Ray, straddle Jaeger, full-out with a step back, very nice!!

4:30 pm. Mader AUT BB: Nice L turn 1.5 but she’s off on her side aerial. Gainer tuck off the end, think she meant to do a layout, that looked like a balk.

Vera COL VT: Hit her FTY.

Lavy ISR FX: Hit routine, I didn’t type through any of it. 1.5 at the end was good.

Van Pol NED UB: Jaeger, toe-on to Tkachev to Pak, leg separation, Maloney to bail to toe shoot, hop full, high double pike, hop. Not bad!

4:29 pm. Escobar COL VT: Hop forward out of Yurchenko 1.5.

Volleman NED UB: Clean first handstand before her shaposh half, straddle Jaeger, bail to clear hip to toe on to toe shoot, full pirouette to full-in, solid landing. Some form issues but glad she came back from that super disappointing vault.

4:26 pm. Torres SWE FX: Ugh, stumbled the 2.5 forward off the mat. 😦 Hit the rest.

Mörz AUT BB: Hit her mount. Switch leap to split jump, good back tuck, full turn, good so far! Front aerial to…side somi I think? It had a large wobble. Front layout dismount, hop.

4:22 pm. Meixner AUT UB: Didn’t see most of this, but seems she hit. Lots of hugs from her teammates.

4:20 pm. Traukova BLR FX: SUPER high arabian double front, almost can’t control the landing, stumble back. Double pike is much better. Good double full.

Omg Tisha got a zero!!!! I wish I was closer to vault because I def didn’t see her feet not hit. I just saw a general disaster.

4:16 pm. El Keky QAT FX: She’s wearing sensible bike shorts btw. Good 2.5, hops forward. Little stumble on the 1.5. Switch leap. All of her leaps are a bit short. Sat the front handspring front tuck. 😦

Van Pol NED VT: Yurchenko 1.5, hop forward, not bad in the air.

Lavy ISR BB: Step on the back tuck. I didn’t see much else of this.

Hämmerle AUT UB: Straddle Jaeger, hard fall, ugh. 😦 😦 Looks up like what did I just do.

Volleman NED VT: Crashed the DTY, no height off the table.

4:13 pm. Mader AUT UB: Toe full, toe on to toe shoot, straddle Jaeger, good, toe on right into her back tuck dismount from handstand.

Polderman NED VT: Tsuk layout full, little step. Good!

Lastouskaya BLR FX: Hit her opening pass, she’s a WEE ONE! Hit everything else I saw after that. Double full at the end, stepsb ack out of it.

Torres SWE BB: Good side somi. Wobble on the bhs loso, but good control to get it back. Aggressive switch half, fall. 😦 Hit the dismount.

4:09 pm. Netyazhenko BLR FX: Hit her opening pass. Solid 2.5.

Visser NED VT: Hit her FTY, not a ton of power but solid enough on the landing.

Castles SWE BB: Clean split jump to sissone. Solid side aerial. Double full, a couple of little steps.

Frysak AUT UB: Maloney to bail to toe shoot, caught close, blind change to piked Jaeger, blind full to double tuck, little bounce. Not bad!!

4:04 pm. El Keky QAT BB: Major applause, LOVE. The crowd has filled up with normals (aka non credentialed humans). The entire event staff is filming her on their phones and screaming. I love it. Solid on her jumps, including a transverse split jump half, splits just not quite at 180. Front to front toss, low but holds on! Little wobble on the back tuck, off on the back handspring. The entire event staff was like OHHHHH NOOOOOOO. I LOVE IT. This group of people that has never seen gymnastics before is suddenly behind Jana, and it’s fabulous. Switch leap. Barani dismount, major applause. Love. ❤ ❤

4:01 pm. Lavy ISR UB: Front giant to tucked Jaeger, interesting, I can’t remember the last time I saw one of those, bail, double pike dismount. Some form stuff in there but she hit!

3:58 pm. Adrila COL FX: Bounce back on the double tuck. Front tuck through to double full was so short but she somehow got the double around and didn’t fall!

Lastouskaya BLR BB: Side aerial, wobble and then a fall.

Torres SWE BB: Bail to toe shoot, caught her release, toe on to blind full, good landing on the toe front half.

3:54 pm. Escobar COL FX: Double tuck, step back, hit her second pass.

Mader AUT VT: FTY, great! Just a step. Happy she’s healthy after her injury at a world up a month ago.

Netyazhenko BLR BB: Had one big wobble early on. Nice switch side. Switch leap, pause before split jump, pause before wolf jump. Not sure if she’ll get the CR. Hit the dismount. Omg her name on the start list is spelled Netsiazhenka, god transliterating from Belarusian is wild.

Adlerteg SWE UB: Shang to Pak, lovely, shaposh to Bhardwaj WAY CROOKED NO IDEA HOW SHE CAUGHT IT AND HELD ON. Maloney to clear ip full, a little messy and late, big Tkachev, hop change, muscles through to front giant half, double layout, little bounce. Fought through that, but damn, there were a couple of times where I was like “she’s off” and she was like “NOPE NEVER.” 14.433!

3:51 pm. Mesa COL FX: Double tuck is good. Solid front tuck through to layout full.

Traukova BLR BB: Solid punch front to start! I love this kid. She’s been injured a lot over the past year but she’s super talented. Bhs loso is good, wobble on the side aerial, wolf turn is clean, stuck the front layout full. REALLY nice.

Frysak AUT VT: Hit the Yurchenko layout.

Castles SWE UB: Maloney to bail to toe full, toe shoot, blind change to straddle Jaeger, good, stuck the dismount!

Mörz AUT VT: Handspring front tuck, good.

  1. Lauren, I just want to say how much I appreciate your passion for ALL the gymnasts– especially the details you know about the lesser-known teams and individuals and new seniors across the world, no matter where they are from. It allows us to celebrate the gymnasts who don’t have the scores to advance past the qualifications, cheer for those who have personal bests or other successes (large or small), and sympathize with those who have a rough meet. Overall your coverage brings the championships to life. THANK YOU, and I plan to become a Patreon supporter by the end of this year!!
