12:08 pm. Liu Yang CHN SR: Nice hold on his invert cross, saltos through to iron cross, holds it forever, presses toplanche, saltos to maltese, small step back on the dismount.

Aleksandr Kartsev RUS PH: Hit routine, some little things throughout.

12:06 pm. You Hao CHN SR: Hit routine, really strong on the positions I could see.

David Jessen CZE HB: Just had a hard fall on a release.

12:02 pm. Lin Chaopan CHN SR: Muscled a press to handstand near the end, arched and swinging in a couple after, double double with a step back.

David Belyavskiy RUS PH: Had a few minor hip and leg form issues throughout but a successful set otherwise.

Petro Pakhniuk UKR FX: Front full to front double full, 2.5 to barani stuck, triple full to finish.

Mikhail Koudinov NZL HB: I missed the beginning but heard big applause after one of his releases early on so assume it went well, Yamawaki to Endo half, stalder, hop full, full-twisting double layout to his KNEES NOOOOOOOO!!!

12:01 pm. Nikita Nagornyy RUS PH: Hit routine, nothing major, looked really solid.

Xiao Ruoteng CHN SR: I didn’t see details on this but he hit, just won’t be a super big score based on a few little things.

11:58 am. Marios Georgiou CYP VT: stuck his DTY!

Illia Kovtun UKR FX: 3.5 to tucked barani, came short out of the 3.5 and crashed the latter. Hit the 2.5 to front full. Randi I think after but I missed the entry. Arabian double front half-out, small hop. Short on his triple full.

Loo Phay Xing MAS HB: Hit routine, big step on the dismount.

11:55 am. Yevgen Yudenkov UKR FX: Was clean on his first few passes, just not a ton of difficulty.

Omar Mohamed EGY VT: Didn’t see what he did but hopped off the side of the mat.

Artur Dalaloyan RUS PH: This was really solid!!! Love his mix of elements, and he was fluid transitioning in and out of each. Really proud of him for getting through today as well as he did.

Sun Wei CHN SR: Planche and iron cross both held well. Pike hold pressed to handstand was also good. Hit the dismount.

Tin Srbic CRO HB: Straddle Tkachev, layout tkachev to straddle to mixed grip, had a few issues coming out of pirouettes, but nothing major, just little adjustments, stuck the full-twisting double layout!

11:51 am. Rotation 5 Standings

1. Xiao Ruoteng CHN 73.532
2. Nikita Nagornyy RUS 73.531
3. Sun Wei CHN 73.065
4. Artur Dalaloyan RUS 72.157
5. Lin Chaopan CHN 71.665
6. David Belyavskiy RUS 70.591
7. Petro Pakhniuk UKR 69.165
8. Aleksandr Kartsev RUS 68.799

11:48 am. Artur Dalaloyan was crying after his floor routine, like, head in his hands sobbing. I can’t tell if he was like, upset at how he did (we know he is an emotional king) or if he’s just in so much pain that he wants to die or what. He seems fine now?

11:46 am. Aleksandr Kartsev RUS FX: Double front half-out, I wasn’t typing during the rest but everything else was good, legs just a little wild on the triple full at the end.

11:42 am. Artur Dalaloyan RUS FX: Here we gooooo. Front layout to piked double front, hop to the side. Front full to randi. The amount of tape on his ankles is A LOT. 2.5 to something, rudi probably, hit I think a 1.5 to barani, then a double full, small hop on the triple full. OKAY.

11:39 am. Nicolau Mir ESP VT: I think he did two vaults maybe, the one I saw was a nearly stuck kaz 1.5.

Lin Chaopan CHN PH: He looks better than I thought based on trials. Really solid routine.

Mikhail Koudinov had a really strong p-bars set!

11:37 am. Xiao Ruoteng CHN PH: Got his legs stuck on his scissor work, yikes. Recovered really well, that would’ve taken basically anyone else off the horse, but obviously not great for his score.

David Belyavskiy RUS FX: I feel like I didn’t even see him do floor in podium. hit the first couple of passes, one was a double front half-out. Also hit the rest, I wasn’t paying the closest attention or typing.

Illia Kovtun UKR HB: Hit the beginning, Yamawaki, stalder Tkachev, then stalder Tkachev to mixed grip, his swing gets really icky at times in his body line but he’s doing well, hop full, double double layout dismount, hop back.

11:34 am. Joel Plata ESP VT: Hit a kaz full.

Petro Pakhniuk UKR HB: German giants, stalder, caught a release, Tkachev I think, hit the dismount.

Sun Wei CHN PH: Good routine, nothing glaring from my perspective!

Nikita Nagornyy RUS FX: Front double pike half to start, front double full to double front stuck. 2.5 to front full to rudi I think and hit the pass after that. Clean double full. Last pass was good. Glad he went with an easier set.

Nestor Abad ESP VT: Sat his kaz 1.5. Looks like he’s about to die.

11:30 am. Denis Ablyazin RUS FX: Full-twisting double layout, hop back OOB. 2.5 to front double full. Front layout to double front, small hop. Front full to randi, hop back. Triple full to finish.

Zou Jingyuan CHN PH: Clean from what I saw until the end, lost his handstand before the dismount and had to press back up into it.

Marios Georgiou CYP SR: Hit routine but wild on the dismount landing, big step to control it.

Thierno Diallo ESP VT: Crashed off the mat.

11:29 am. Rotation 4 Standings

1. Xiao Ruoteng CHN 59.232
2. Nikita Nagornyy RUS 58.465
3. Artur Dalaloyan RUS 58.457
4. Sun Wei CHN 58.232
5. David Belyavskiy RUS 57.658
6. Lin Chaopan CHN 57.565
7. Petro Pakhniuk RUS 55.765
8. Aleksandr Kartsev RUS 55.066

11:24 am. I’m not seeing as much as I’d like but I’m trying. High bar and p-bars are the worst for me in terms of being able to see them, I have to crane my neck over.

11:21 am. Aleksandr Kartsev RUS HB: Hit the beginning, no problems, straddle Tkachev, really piked in his swing, flew off on his straddle Tkachev to mixed grip. Hit the rest, step on the dismount.

11:19 am. Nestor Abad ESP SR: Tried to muscle a handstand but couldn’t hold it, dropped into his swing before the dismount and then didn’t have the momentum to get into his dismount, crashed it. DAMN. One of the weirdest rings situations I think I’ve seen in a while.

11:18 am. Xiao Ruoteng CHN FX: Again not typing at the beginning but he hit his first two passes followed by a solid double double, then something into a front double full I’m pretty sure, all landings I saw were good. Solid triple full to finish.

Loo Phay Xing MAS VT: I missed what he did but he crashed.

I missed Illia Kovtun’s PB but he got a 14.7!

11:16 am. Marios Georgiou CYP PH: I think he had two falls. Looked so frustrated after the second. Was on a struggle during a circle across the horse.

Artur Dalaloyan RUS HB: Huge Cassina, layout Kovacs, layout Tkachev to mixed grip, tak half, layout Tkachev, some arch in his back on front circle work, Yamawaki, full-twisting double layout stuck.

11:15 am. Lin Chaopan CHN FX: Hit the first few passes, I started typing at the randi, double full, hit the rest, according to Jess he had to repeat the press out of his handstand, I missed that but lol.

Marian Dragulescu ROU VT: Dragulescu, step back.

11:13 am. Thierno Diallo ESP SR: Good routine.

Marian Dragulescu ROU VT: I can’t believe he’s 40. I thought he was like 28 for some reason. Crashed his kaz?? ..double full? I missed the entry. Legs were tucked in the air.

11:12 am. David Jessen CZE VT: Fall on his Yurchenko double. 😦

11:11 am. Sun Wei CHN FX: hit the first pass then laid out double double, double double tuck after was good, deep landing out of the 2.5 to front full, triple full with a scoot back.

Nikita Nagornyy RUS HB: Yamawaki, layout Tkachev, layout to mixed grip. Had one release I saw where his legs got a little iffy but no problem rising out to handstand, stuck the double double layout dismount.

11:06 am. Rotation 3 Standings

1. Artur Dalaloyan RUS 44.391
2. Xiao Ruoteng CHN 44.366

11:01 am. Omar Mohamed EGY FX: Piked double front, small hop forward. Double double with a step back. Front full to double front, lunge forward. 2.5 to barani. Good landing on the last pass.

Vladislav Poliashov RUS PB: Everything at the beginning looked good, Tippelt and Bhavsar controlled, a little arched in one of his handstands near the end, walked a pirouette around a little bit, straddle salto, hit the dismount.

10:59 am. Aleksandr Kartsev RUS PB: Had some nice salto work, clean out of his pirouettes to handstand, double front half with a tiny bounce.

10:58 am. I started out trying to get you all the scores but it’s been rough, lads. Dolgopyat into the top on floor with a 15.2 ahead of Zapata’s 15.041, McClenaghan stil #1 on pommels, Ablyazin top on rings, Nagornyy on vault, Zou on p-bars, and Deurloo on high bar (14.4).

10:56 am. Artur Dalaloyan RUS PB: Hit the beginning, mostly clean, front pike to handstand, lots of control, a little bouncy on a handstand before the dismount, which he hit well.

Marios Georgiou CYP FX: Double double, small hop back, hit the second pass, and the third had a little bounce. 2.5 to barani clean and solid. Double full, clean. Triple full goes a little wild, big step back.

Thierno Diallo ESP PH: I’ve missed a lot of Spain on pommels, he starts out well with a one-arm swing, hips are pretty piked throughout. But a good hit routine!

10:55 AM. UGH, just missed all of Lin Chaopan on high bar, I can barely see it and never know when it’s happening. We’re getting a little replay in the arena, caught one of his releases at his elbows it looked like, some pike in his double double layout dismount but stuck the landing.

10:53 am. Artem Dolgopyat ISR FX: Hit the first two passes, second one had a step. Double double, chest a little low, small hop. I missed a couple in the middle, he hit an arabian double front half-out well at the end.

David Belyavskiy RUS PB: Wasn’t typing or watching super closely but hit routine.

Igor Radivilov UKR VT: Tsuk double pike, big stumble forward, couldn’t see if his hands brushed the mat but it was very close. 😦

10:52 am. Igor Radivilov UKR VT: Piked handspring double front half, looked like a strong landing. Just realized I missed him on rings. Legs maybe not perfect in the air from my view?

10:51 am. Nikita Nagornyy RUS PB: I wasn’t typing but this was a hit routine.

Petro Pakhniuk UKR VT: Kaz 1.5, deep landing with a hop back.

Xiao Ruoteng CHN HB: Caught first release, Tkachev I think, then Tkachev to mixed grip, tak half, some ankle separation, German giants, straddle Tkachev to mixed grip, tak full, arched throughout that, to Yamawaki to Endo, nice series, stuck the dismount with his chest horizontal.

10:50 am. Illia Kovtun UKR VT: Kaz full, good landing, clean throughout.

10:47 am. Alexander Shatilov ISR FX: Hit the first pass, then a 2.5 to rudi with a step back OOB. Sailed through his double double. 1.5 to front full to tucked front full, hit his last pass as well.

Yevgen Yudenkov URK VT: Kaz full I think, had a good landing.

Sun Wei CHN HB: Again missing first routines in every subdivision because they start so fast without warning but he hit.

10:45 am. Rotation 2 Standings

1. Xiao Ruoteng CHN 30.100
2. Sun Wei CHN 29.899
3. Denis Ablyazin RUS 29.700

6. Nikita Nagornyy RUS 29.033
7. David Belyavskiy RUS 28.300
8. Aleksandr Kartsev 28.166

10:38 am. Rayderley Zapata ESP FX: Tucked double front full-in half-out, smart to not do his new skill. Step. 1.5 to piked double front, stuck, clicks his heels together, stuck the piked double front, small hop sideways on the double front half, stuck the double full side pass on his toes. 2.5 to front full stuck, double layout stuck. 15.041!!!

10:37 am. Zou Jingyuan CHN PB: Bhavsar was lovely, he catches great air on that, the rest I saw was great, I missed the beginning though, step back on the dismount.

10:36 am. Rhys McClenaghan IRL PH: Moves with ease throughout the opening, I can’t get over his hip angle, Russians are so controlled, working well into the dismount, beautiful routine. 15.266!

10:34 am. Epke Zonderland NED HB: Cassina, Kolman with wild legs to Gaylord, nice connection, legs wild on a tak full, tak half a little more controlled, hop full, double double layout, tucked his legs in the second flip, not gonna be a GREAT score but good hit.13.833

Lin Chaopan CHN PB: Hit routine, stuck the dismount, just a bit deep in his knees.

Joel Plata ESP FX: Tried to catch this but missed most of it, everything I saw was hit though.

10:32 am. David Jessen CZE PH: Had some leg separation in the middle but otherwise moves slow and steady, good routine.

Nicolau Mir ESP FX: Had a short landing early on, good double double, hop forward on the last pass.

Artur Dalaloyan RUS VT: Handspring double pike, some soft knees before he lands, but just a step there.

10:30 am. Xiao Ruoteng CHN PB: Double back went well, nice handstand after, short on a handstand out of a half turn, and another out of a basket, double back, through to handstand, nice there, stuck the dismount! 15.4!

Denis Ablyazin RUS VT: Tsuk double pike, landed kinda lock-legged and took a step.

Illia Kovtun RUS SR: Hit routine but really short on the dismount, big step forward.

Omar Mohamed EGY HB: Caught his first release, clean throughout the rest for the most part, step on the clean full-twisting double layout dismount.

10:29 am. Nikita Nagornyy RUS VT: Hit the piked double back!! Good landing, legs could be better.

Denis Ablyazin RUS VT: I didn’t see what he did but hit it with a hop back.

10:27 am. Marios Georgiou CYP HB: Beautiful and HUGE Cassina, another PERFECT Kolman, full-twisting double layout with a hop, just beautiful!

Nestor Abad ESP FX: Hop back OOB on the double front pike half. Hit the rest.

Sun Wei CHN PB: Held a handstand for days before his double salto, lovely. Handstand out of it also really nice. Back pike salto strong, big Bhavsar, hit the dismount.

10:26 am. Nikita Nagornyy RUS VT: Dragulescu with a hop forward, not bad!

10:25 am. Thierno Diallo ESP FX: Hit his first few passes. Hop back on the triple at the end. Good hit!

Bart Deurloo NED HB: Wasn’t typing but he absolutely crushed this routine!!!

Loo Phay Xing MAS PH: I missed this but looked like he hit.

10:24 am. David Belyavskiy RUS VT: We keep starting so quickly, I don’t have time to know it’s happening. He hit, though!

10:23 am. Well, Artur’s vaulting in the touch…double front, and not bad but still screaming.

10:20 am. Rotation 1 Standings

1. Denis Ablyazin RUS 14.800
2. Sun Wei CHN 14.766
3. Xiao Ruoteng CHN 14.700
4. Lin Chaopan CHN 14.666
5. Artur Dalaloyan RUS 14.500
6. Nikita Nagornyy RUS 14.333
7. David Belyavskiy RUS 14.000
8. Marios Georgiou CYP 13.666

10:18 am. I missed Omar Mohamed’s p-bars as well, I really have a blind spot for this event. He got a 13.300.

10:16 am. Aleksandr Kartsev RUS SR: I know they’re technically ROC, not RUS, but I’m doing things my way. Starddle planche, salto through to iron cross, nice. I’m straight-on for vault so I can’t see positions really at all but the judges can and that’s what matters. Straddle hold pressed to planche, a little short there on timing, saltos through to handstand, bent significantly while holding but straightened out. Small step on the double double dismount. 13.633

10:15 am. Artur Dalaloyan RUS SR: Nice control on his saltos through to iron cross, a little adjustment in one handstand, hop back on the double double dismount. 14.500

Joel Plata ESP HB: Really nice Cassina! Lets were a little wild on a Tkachev to mixed grip. Noooooo, hands down on his dismount.

10:14 am. China didn’t bother with Zou Jingyuan on vault, he’s in the fourth spot on everything just in case.

10:11 am. Illia Kovtun PH: Less jerky in his scissors than Pakhniuk but it’s still a little tight. Some hip angle throughout, took his handstand pirouettes REALLY slowly. But good recovery through that, just taking his time. Hit the rest.

Denis Ablyazin SR: Looked muscled in a planche, didn’t look like he held it quite long enough. Held a handstand before his full-twisting double layout dismount for AGES, step forward on the landing. 14.800

David Jessen CZE FX: Hit routine, clean 2.5 at the end. 13.466

10:09 am. Mikhail Koudinov NZL FX: Double front to start. Hit the rest! 13.433

Nikita Nagornyy RUS SR: Good routine, looked like a small step on the dismount. I wasn’t typing but caught him in a couple of handstands and he looked solid. 14.333

10:08 am. Sun Wei CHN VT: HUUUUUUUUUGE kaz double!!! DAMN, he deserves bonus for that power. 14.766

Thierno Diallo ESP HB: Came off on a release early on. 11.100

Petro Pakhniuk UKR PH: A little stuck In his scissors at the beginning, just not super fluid, but the rest was fine, legs a little apart just before his dismount. 12.866

10:07 am. I think I missed all of Yevgen Yudenkov’s pommels and Marios Georgiou on p-bars. 😦  Yudenkov with a 12.966 and Georgiou with a 13.666.

Xiao Ruoteng CHN VT: Kaz double, some leg form on and off the table but the landing is mostly okay, step to the side. 14.700

10:06 am. Loo Phay Xing MAS FX: Hit his first couple of passes. Clean double full side pass. 13.100

David Belyavskiy RUS SR: Holding positions well at the start. Good routine, looked like he stuck the dismount. 14.000

Nicolau Mir ESP HB: Hit routine! 13.233

10:05 am. Lin Chaopan CHN VT: I missed the entry but he hit, it was solid. Kaz double I assume? 14.666

10:02 am. Touch warmups are underway. The big ones here are Russia and China but I’ll obviously be following everyone!

9:58 am. The athletes are marching out now!

  1. Would someone know how to watch if you’re not in the US? It doesn’t let me subscribe to Peacock premium for some reason, even with a VPN, it does not let me go through for payment

    • where do you live? i feel like in most countries you can watch for free. CBC in canada has free streams for all the events. there are also…other streams that are pretty easy to find

  2. I tried a VPN to access Canada, but the stream wasn’t working for me. Then I switched to Spain, where I am, and the stream worked until rotation 5, when it decided to die. So, everything’s great.
I can’t help you, but try other countries with the VPN, and hope you’re lucky.
