10:19 pm. According to USA Gymnastics, we’ll have the team about a half hour after the event concludes, so around 10:50 pm ET? I’ll be back with the final standings shortly, and then the team list when it’s announced!
10:18 pm. Jade Carey FX: Moors, super strong, tiny hop back. Full-twisting double layout, step back OOB. Switch to split full to Popa I think? Kind of ambiguous at moments. Double double, tiny bounce. Split full. Front full through to double tuck, and another standing ovation! 14.150 (6.3, 7.950, -0.1 ND)
10:14 pm. Zoey Molomo FX: Double layout, small hop back, and then a clean double pike. Switch leap to switch side half, kinda had to push to get that second leap around. Double wolf turn. Good on the front full. Finishes with a double tuck, small hop back. Love the WCC girls on the side cheering her on. And Kaliya! 12.950 (5.1, 7.850)
10:13 pm. Leanne Wong VT: Wonder if she’s gonna risk the penalty on the Cheng if she does that vault first? Or do the Yurchenko double full first and THEN the Cheng? Let’s seeeeee. Oh, she has the number up for the Cheng. We love a risk-taking queen! Doesn’t quite have the power and has to compensate with some pretty weak form in the air but she gets the landing. 14.500 (5.6, 8.900)
Does the Yurchenko double full second, some leg form and a lunge back.
10:10 pm. Jordan Chiles FX: Full-twisting double layout, excellent! Tiniest bounce back. Front full through to full-in, bounce back. Strong on the triple wolf turn. Switch leap to tour jeté full. Double layout, small bounce back. Maybe slightly short. But like…VERY slightly. Fabulous. Gets a standing ovation! 14.100 (5.9, 8.200)
10:08 pm. Simone Rose VT: Yurchenko 1.5, pretty clean in the air, just a big lunge forward on the landing. 13.575 (4.6, 8.975)
10:07 pm. Evey Lowe FX: Arabian double front to start was very nice, as was the 2.5 to front layout. Hit the double pike and then the double tuck. Very good work! 12.825 (5.4, 7.525, -0.1 ND)
10:06 pm. Hezly Rivera with a 56.325 today!!! Currently third with a 111.150 total, ahead of Joscelyn Roberson, who had a 55.5 today and a 110.975 total. THEY ARE SO CLOSE.
I really think it could come down between the two of them now, though still feeling Tiana Sumanasekera (currently fifth) for her vault, beam, and floor combo, which I think might do better than Roberson’s in Paris? IDK!!! Sumanasekera has been stronger this season overall I feel, but Roberson has been PEAKING. Literally increasing her score significantly at every meet since classics.
10:02 pm. Touch for the second half of the last rotation!
10:00 pm. Joscelyn Roberson FX: Moors, really powerful! Really just minor form. Full-twisting double layout, floats through it, great landing. Hop L to tour jeté full. Strong double layout, hop back. Finishes with a front layout through to double tuck, step back. Excellent overall! 13.925 (6.2, 7.725)
9:59 pm. Hezly Rivera VT: Yurchenko double full, BEAUTIFUL! In the air and on the landing. Oh my goodness. 14.200 (5.0, 9.200)
9:57 pm. Tiana Sumanasekera FX: Full-twisting double layout, lands slightly deep with a hop. Double layout is stronger but still not PERFECT on the landing. Switch ring to tour jeté half is good. 1.5 to front full, some leg form throughout. Switch half. Double pike, good landing there! 13.725 (5.7, 8.025)
9:55 pm. Sunisa Lee VT: Yurchenko double full, some leg form in the air but the landing looked really solid, better than day one! 14.100 (5.0, 9.100)
9:52 pm. Dulcy Caylor FX: Double layout, really deep, one foot is OOB and she has a hop forward. Double pike with a hop. Switch ring to tour jeté half. 1.5 to front full, deep, steps over to hold it up, OOB. Memmel turn. Dobule tuck, high set, but lands with her chest down and a hop back. 12.425 (5.4, 7.225, -0.2 ND)
9:50 pm. Kaliya Lincoln VT: Yurchenko double full, beautiful! Big bounce back but overall super strong. 14.250 (5.0, 9.250)
9:48 pm. Simone Biles FX: Triple double with a step back. Front full through to double double, super strong. Switch to tour jeté full. Biles to stag looked great. Switch full. Double layout, excellent landing, maybe slightly deep to be picky. 14.725 (7.0, 7.825, -0.1 ND)
9:47 pm. Touch for the FINAL ROTATION!!!!! EEEEEE! I’m so excited!
9:44 pm. Rotation 7 Standings
1. Simone Biles 102.500
2. Sunisa Lee 97.575
3. Jordan Chiles 97.325
4. Jade Carey 97.200
5. Joscelyn Roberson 97.050
6. Hezly Rivera 96.950
7. Leanne Wong 95.925
8. Tiana Sumanasekera 95.825
9:41 pm. Jordan Chiles BB: Hit the mount, but then big break at the hips and comes off on the acro series. Not a beam night for basically any of our top contenders! Front aerial to straddle jump to back handspring. Side somi is good. Switch doesn’t really connect to the jumps after but the jumps themselves were fine. Side aerial, minor form. Switch side. Double pike, really strong, step back. 12.225 (5.4, 6.825)
9:37 pm. Evey Lowe BB: Side aerial loso, some leg form but solid. Switch side. Front aerial with a slight check, doesn’t connect to the Korbut. Good on the jump series. Wobble but good fight on the side somi. Double tuck, chest down but mostly solid. 13.450 (5.5, 7.950)
9:35 pm. Simone Rose FX: Think she had a 1.5 to front double full to start, mostly strong! Whip to double tuck, good landing. Switch leap to tour jeté half. Triple wolf turn, nice control. 2.5 to front tuck at the end was good! 13.375 (5.4, 7.975)
9:33 pm. Joscelyn Roberson BB: Standing full, low chest but super solid. Switch to switch half (a bit short) to back pike I believe. Side aerial loso loso is strong, just minor leg form things. Onodi is slow to the split jump to pike jump series. Dismounts with a double pike, super strong, step back. 14.050 (6.1, 7.950)
9:30 pm. Hezly Rivera FX: Full-twisting double layout, hop back. Couldn’t see if she went OOB from this angle. Double layout, small hop back. Great leap series. Front tuck through to double tuck, tiny bounce back. 2.5, lands kind of awkwardly and punches forward into a lunge forward. 13.550 (5.8, 7.750)
9:28 pm. Tiana Sumanasekera BB: Beautiful layout series. Front aerial to split jump to Korbut is also gorgeous. Switch leap to switch half, not quite there on the latter but still mostly good. Had a check on something after that, I assume an aerial but missed everything but the landing, but a lovely sissone to wolf jump and full turn. Dismounts with a double pike, two small steps back. Beautiful as always! 13.950 (5.8, 8.150)
9:26 pm. Touch for the second half!
9:23 pm. Dulcy Caylor BB: Bhs loso loso, really clean and lovely. Switch leap, short. Doesn’t connect to the switch half, which gets to maybe a 90 degree split and has a wobble. Front aerial to split jump to Korbut. Full turn. Side aerial. Split jump to wolf jump. Double pike, kind of a low set, chest at her knees, but good landing in terms of her foot placement. 12.425 (5.6, 6.825)
9:21 pm. Sunisa Lee FX: Full-twisting double layout, some hip form but a great landing and she has a HUGE smile on her face when she gets through it. Love. Switch ring to tour jeté half. Strong 1.5 to front full in the second pass. Triple wolf turn. Double tuck, small hop back. 13.850 (5.6, 8.250)
9:19 pm. Simone Biles BB: Switch mount to switch half to back pike, great. Triple wolf turn also solid. Bhs loso loso, excellent. Off on the side aerial, I LOATHE SIDE AERIAL DRAMA. Massive full-in dismount. 13.900 (6.5, 7.400)
9:16 pm. Kaliya Lincoln FX: Full-twisting double layout is GORGEOUS, hop back. Double layout, also freaking BEAUTIFUL. Great landing there. Switch ring to tour jeté half, she floats on both. Front full through to double tuck, big hop back OOB there but overall the quality of this routine is next-level. 13.650 (5.9, 8.050, -0.3 ND)
9:14 pm. Jade Carey BB: Front aerial to split jump to Korbut, not bad! Bhs loso is pretty solid. Switch leap to switch half to straddle jump, actually mostly good? Side aerial is maaaaaybe a bit short with the way her chest is positioned on the landing. Double pike, minor leg separation off the beam but strong landing! 13.625 (5.5, 8.125)
9:12 pm. Leanne Wong FX: Double wolf turn and then a Popa to start. Double double, a bit deep, hop to the side. Double layout, set was pretty low, gets it around but a bit forward and short on the landing. Switch ring was a little weak I think? To a tour jeté half. Whip half to front full, a little short, little steps back. Super solid on the double pike! 13.625 (5.6, 8.025)
9:10 pm. Zoey Molomo BB: Switch leap mount, solid. Double wolf turn also good! Side aerial loso, slight check. Switch leap, great extension. Solid standing back tuck. Front aerial with a break at the hips. Split jump to straddle jump, maybe a little short on the latter. Double tuck, chest down and a small hop, great set though! 13.200 (5.3, 7.900)
9:08 pm. Can’t believe we only have two rotations left!!! Touch underway for the first half of the seventh rotation.
9:06 pm. Rotation 6 Standings
1. Simone Biles 88.600
2. Jordan Chiles 85.100
3. Sunisa Lee 83.725
4. Jade Carey 83.575
5. Hezly Rivera 83.400
6. Joscelyn Roberson 83.000
7. Leanne Wong 82.300
8. Tiana Sumanasekera 81.875
9:03 pm. Joscelyn Roberson UB: Shaposh with leg separation to clear hip half, break and leg separation, to Ezhova, minor form, toe full was ab it rushed before the Maloney to Gienger, leg form on the former, a bit low on the latter, clear hip, full-twisting double layout with a small hop. Great job getting through as always! 13.025 (5.7, 7.325)
9:00 pm. Tiana Sumanasekera UB: Stalder full, slight sway in her back, to Maloney to Pak, somewhat too arched. Van Leeuwen with some hip and leg form, toe half with some arch into the front giant to straddle Jaeger, half turn was pretty short before the giants, full-out dismount with a step back. 12.825 (5.4, 7.425)
8:58 pm. Hezly Rivera BB: Double wolf turn is clean. Side aerial, good. Slight hip check when she finishes the bhs loso. Switch leap is lovely, to switch half to Korbut, switch half could have a bit more split. Front aerial with a little pause into the split jump with a little pause into the straddle jump, slight check after the series. Switch ring, little bobble. Double pike, chest down but her feet barely move, tiny step. Little things throughout but overall lovely! 14.275 (6.0, 8.275)
8:55 pm. Dulcy Caylor UB: Toe full to Maloney to Pak, very nice. Van Leeuwen is very clean. Stalder takes a second to get to handstand, blind change to straddle Jaeger, nice, bit of a college stick on the double layout but a very nice routine overall! 13.275 (5.3, 7.975)
8:53 pm. Sunisa Lee BB: Off on the layout stepout mount. UGH. Front aerial to split jump to back handspring. Lovely triple wolf turn. Switch leap, doesn’t connect to the switch half, which is also a bit slow to the split ring jump. Grabs the beam on the side aerial loso loso and wobbles again coming back from that. Switch ring, another big wobble. Gainer full dismount. 12.825 (6.3, 6.525)
8:52 pm. Simone Biles UB: Weiler half to Maloney, wide leg separation, to blind full, rushed with leg separation, to piked Tkachev to Pak, van Leeuwen, some more leg form there, toe full was a little late but not too bad, right into the Fabrichnova dismount, maybe slightly short. She can do better but still a pretty solid set! 14.200 (6.2, 8.000)
8:48 pm. Touch for the second half!
8:46 pm. Jade Carey UB: Caught this from the toe-on to Bhardwaj, minor separation in the latter, Maloney to Gienger, pretty nice. Hop change before the Ezhova, van Leeuwen with some form throughout, blind full, legs come apart halfway through, NO IDEA how she muscles through that but SHE DOES. Full-in to finish. 13.075 (5.6, 7.475)
8:44 pm. Kaliya Lincoln BB: Switch leap mount, really strong. Think she did a split jump half after that, had a big wobble upon landing but fought through it. Bhs layout, maybe slightly more piked than I’m used to seeing from her, but could be the angle. Still strong! Front aerial to split jump to straddle jump, HER JUMPS are everything. Gets through the wolf turn well. Side aerial, slight hip check. Switch leap, clean. Double pike, excellent, step back. 13.175 (5.5, 7.675)
8:42 pm. Zoey Molomo UB: Stalder to toe full, hip form and she rushes the finish, Maloney to Pak was nice, van Leeuwen maybe a little low with minor leg form, blind change to straddle Jaeger, some foot form there, double front goes a bit forward coming off the bar but she gets it around with no major issues, just a hop. 12.550 (5.3, 7.250)
8:40 pm. Leanne Wong BB: Switch leap mount, switch leap to switch half, slow connection and short on the latter. Switch ring, back leg not quite there and she has a wobble when she lands it. Solid bhs loso, maybe a tiny check that she covers with some arm movement. Double wolf turn, leans forward to steady it. Front aerial to split jump to straddle jump, leaps could be a bit cleaner. Side somi was strong. Dismounts with a 2.5, leg form is significant I think, but her landing is mostly good, hops over to steady it. 13.650 (5.5, 8.150)
8:39 pm. Jordan Chiles UB: Van Leeuwen, good handstand before the blind change to piked Jaeger, toe full had some hip form, big piked Tkachev to a clean Pak, Maloney to Gienger, really clean until she catches and her legs come apart, full-in with a hop back. Not her best but still VERY solid! 14.200 (5.9, 8.300)
8:37 pm. Simone Rose BB: Switch leap mount, switch leap to split jump to back tuck, tiniest bobble. Double wolf turn. Bhs loso bhs, strong finish! Side aerial was also solid. Front aerial with a small check. 2.5, some leg form, step forward on the landing. Mostly great work! 13.375 (5.3, 8.075)
8:35 pm. Evey Lowe UB: Think she started with a Maloney to blind full, toe full after that was a bit rushed, to Gienger, some wide leg separation, good straddle Jaeger, Pak was a bit too arched, toe shoot, a bit close there, full-in with some leg form and came up a bit short, hop forward. 12.875 (5.4, 7.475)
8:31 pm. Rotation 5 Standings
1. Simone Biles 74.400
2. Sunisa Lee 70.900
– Jordan Chiles 70.900
4. Jade Carey 70.500
5. Joscelyn Roberson 69.975
6. Hezly Rivera 69.125
7. Tiana Sumanasekera 69.050
8. Leanne Wong 68.650
8:29 pm. Dulcy Caylor VT: Had an ad playing for the start of this but pretty sure she did a Yurchenko double full, looked like just a step on the landing. 13.900 (5.0, 8.900)
8:27 pm. Simone Biles VT: Yurchenko double pike, runs back out of it with I think three massive steps to the point where she actually reaches the end of the mat. But like…IT’S FINE. 15.500 (6.4, 9.100)
8:25 pm. Sunisa Lee UB: Nabieva to Bhardwaj, again, so casual. Good van Leeuwen, minor separation at the start, blind change to HUGE straddle Jaeger to Pak to Maloney to Gienger, OKAY! Blind full, minor leg separation, and a full-in dismount, stuck cold. 14.875 (6.4, 8.475)
8:22 pm. Jade Carey VT: Cheng, some leg form in the pre-flight but it’s pretty solid in the air and her landing is great, maybe could’ve been a bit bigger? But hard to tell from my stream. 14.675 (5.6, 9.075)
Second vault is the Amanar, comes up a bit short, takes a big leap backwards to steady it, OOB, but she came SO close to sitting that, an amazing save.
8:21 pm. Kaliya Lincoln UB: Weiler half arched over slightly before the stalder full but she corrected well, arched over before the Chow but again corrected and got it into the Tkachev, good, Ray with bent legs but gets it to the Pak with some leg separation, toe-on to van Leeuwen, just minor leg form there, full-in dismount with a great landing. 13.450 (5.9, 7.550)
8:20 pm. Zoey Molomo VT: Yurchenko 1.5, GORGEOUS in the air, pretty great landing as well. 13.850 (4.6, 9.250)
8:18 pm. Peacock is putting long ads in between every UB routine on the event stream and it’s VERY annoying to me!!!
8:14 pm. Jordan Chiles VT: Yurchenko double full, hop back, but tons of power and really strong in the air. 14.500 (5.0, 9.500)
Second vault is a super clean Lopez, big hop back but again superb overall.
8:13 pm. Leanne Wong UB: Clear hip half to straddle Jaeger, very nice toe full to Bhardwaj, Maloney to Pak, clean handstand before the van Leeuwen, which was very nice, beautiful double layout with a little hop. Amazing?! 13.900 (5.7, 8.200)
8:12 pm. Evey Lowe VT: Yurchenko 1.5, small hop forward, but overall really strong! 13.675 (4.6, 9.075)
8:10 pm. Simone Rose UB: Think she started with a toe full, Maloney to clear hip to Ray, nice, stalder half to Ezhova, van Leeuwen, stuck the double layout!! Fantastic! 13.200 (5.3, 7.900)
8:09 pm. Joscelyn Roberson VT: Cheng, looked much better than day one! Just more powerful overall, which made it look a bit tighter in the air. Step back on the landing. 14.500 (5.6, 8.900)
Second vault is the Yurchenko double full, also looked a bit better! Landing wasn’t quite there, a little deep with steps, but strong.
8:08 pm. Hezly Rivera UB: Weiler half was lovely, to toe full to Chow to Ricna, awesome. Tiniest arch on the handstand before the Pak, which was beautiful though, Maloney to Tkachev, great. Full-in dismount with a step. Okay, this was wonderful. 14.300 (6.1, 8.200)
8:07 pm. Tiana Sumanasekera VT: Yurchenko double full, really nice in the air, really solid on the landing. She looks fabulous! 14.350 (5.0, 9.350)
8:06 pm. Competition is just getting underway!

Simone, Suni, Jordan, Jade. Hezly makes more sense for the fifth soot but I feel it will go to Leanne. Other than that Wong/Rivera, Sumanskera, Lincoln, Roberson as alternates.

When the competition was over, it was pretty clear that Hezly was the right choice for that last spot. I was pulling for Leanne, but Hezly had her beat on bars and beam, and the obvious other 4 team members already had vault and floor covered. As it happened, it’s probably the team Tom Forster would have picked–top 5 finishers at Trials, with the next two down as the alternates. No fuss, no muss….
As Gannon noted in the NBC broadcast, losing Jones, Blakely and DiCello from the pool likely knocks 1-1/2 to 2 points off the potential team score, but I like their chances :-).

Sentimentally I wanted Tiana, but once Hezly had hit on both bars and beam I knew it was going to be her. And in this case, going straight down the AA rankings also happens to be the right choice strategically.
It’s going to be a nailbiter, though. Before Day 1 I’d have had all three of Shilese, Skye, and Kayla on the team so losing them was an enormous blow.
