2:54 pm. Ulmasova UZB BB: Off on her flight series.

2:51 pm. Santi CHI UB: Blind full, Deltchev, paused on the bar after catching it before doing a blind change to Jaeger. Layout dismount.

Hussein EGY FX: 2.5 a little wild, step out. Double pike, a little low, hop. Good routine.

Khalilova UZB BB: Off on her bhs loso. Hit the rest.

2:49 pm. Mohamed EGY FX: Double pike, very nice. The rest of her routine was lovely. 12.533 (4.8, 7.733)

Voss GER VT: DTY, stumbled around the landing but was very clean in the air! 14.366 (5.4, 9.066, -0.1)

Castro CHI UB: Blind change to huge straddle Jaeger, clear hip to toe on to bail (messy legs) to toe shoot, caught close.  12.133 (4.5, 7.633)

Chusovitina UZB BB: Punch front mount, punch front pike SUPER solid. Off on her bhs loso. 😦 Layout dismount. 11.100 (4.5, 6.600)

2:47 pm. Gehani SRI UB: Clear hip to Hindorff, Pak, had to take an extra swing on the low bar, Ray to high, hit the dismount. WOW, she has improved SO MUCH in the past year!!!! 10.750 (4.4, 6.350)

2:46 pm. Alistratava BLR BB: Off on her bhs loso. Also sat the double tuck. 10.500 (5.4, 5.100)

Seitz GER VT: REALLY solid DTY!!! So glad she got that back. 14.600 (5.4, 9.200)!!!

2:44 pm. Petz GER VT: Very clean FTY with a solid landing! 13.766 (4.6, 9.166)

Kharenkova GEO UB: Toe full to toe-on to Ray, toe half to front giant half, double tuck with a step. No release unless I missed it. 10.766 (3.0, 7.766)

Taman EGY FX: Had something iffy on her first pass but I didn’t see. Double full with a scoot back. 10.300 (4.3, 6.300, -0.3)

2:41 pm. Salem EGY FX: 2.5 to front full. Small hop back on the double pike. Hit the last pass. Good routine! 11.633 (4.5, 7.133)

Traukova BLR BB: Bhs loso with a wobble but a save. Stumbled on something after that. She got down into her wolf turn like an old man getting out of bed after sleeping for a decade, I’m dying. Hit the dismount.

Bui GER VT: Hit her FTY, very nice there. 13.666 (4.6, 9.066)

Nair ALG UB: I missed most of this but she put her hands down on her double pike dismount. 8.133 (2.4, 5.733)

2:37 pm. Belgium now four points ahead of Germany, but Belgium “goes to beam” in the final rotation, and based on what they got there, the Germans will need a 42.074 on vault to overtake them. With two hit DTYs, it could be possible…

2:33 pm. Bui GER FX: Great double layout to start. Double tuck with a small bounce back. 2.5 to punch front and then a double pike to finish. Another really strong set. 13.000 (5.1, 7.900)

Taman EGY BB: Off on her bhs loso. Hit the side aerial. Front full dismount.

Santi CHI VT: DTY, really solid!! 14.300 (5.4, 8.900). Sat her second vault though. 😦

Khalilova UZB UB: Had a fall early on.

2:31 pm. Chusovitina UZB UB: Blind change to front giant half, shootover, clear hip to toe shoot, full-in dismount. Aka HER dismount! 11.200 (3.6, 7.600)

Castro CHI VT: I missed this, think it was an FTY? 13.400 (4.6, 8.800)

2:29 pm. Kharenkova GEO VT: Yurchenko layout with a big hop back. 12.866 (4.0, 8.866)

Seitz GER FX: Arabian double front with a small hop forward. Hit the second pass. Crowd is going nuts for her little choreo section here and she’s selling it. Double pike, good. Fab routine. 12.766 (4.9, 8.166, -0.3)

Mohamed EGY BB: Really nice in her wolf turn! On the second wolf turn she gets a bit wobbly. Hit the dismount. 11.466 (4.5, 6.966)

Gehani SRI VT: Really solid tsuk full, just a step! 13.400 (4.8, 8.600)

2:28 pm. Alistratava BLR UB: Inbar to inbar full to Maloney to Pa, suuuuper clean. Van Leeuwen. Blind change to piked Jaeger, excellent. Hit the dismount (sorry, a camera dude is blocking me for bars dismounts so I can’t go into detail about how they look or what they are) 14.066 (5.9, 8.166)

Nair ALG VT: Yurchenko layout, fine! 12.933 (4.0, 8.933)

2:24 pm. Hussein EGY BB: Hit her jump series. Kochetkova! A little iffy in the form. Switch half. Solid bhs loso. Egypt is straight killing it today. Full turn. 11.433 (4.4, 7.033)

Sakr TUN VT: FTY, good!

Voss GER FX: Hit the first pass, the arabian double front I think? I only saw the landing. But then went wild on her triple full, kind of a super rough landing there, over-rotated with a huge step. I thought she was gonna crash so good job holding that up. Hit the third pass with a little bounce OOB. Double full.

Traukova BLR UB: Maloney, super clean, toe half to Jaeger, bail to toe on to toe shoot, hit the dismount. 11.733 (4.4, 7.333)

2:20 pm. Salem EGY BB: Hit her loso mount! BARELY. That was so close. Good save. Split leap. Front aerial to split jump, low in the split. Nice bhs loso. Side aerial, check. Side somi. Double full. Great start for Egypt!

Petz GER FX: Bounce back on her double pike. Double tuck, low chest with a little hop. Hit the rest. 12.166 (4.9, 7.366)

Ulmasova UZB UB: Had a fall but I didn’t see what!

2:16 pm. Looking at just two-event scores right now, Elisabeth Seitz and Sarah Voss are in the lead a few tenths ahead of Nina Derwael. Chusovitina also up there with a 26.133

2:13 pm. Castro CHI FX: Hit her double back and then a 1.5 to punch front I think. I could be backwards on that last pass. I always see a pass and then instantly forget it or remember it differently. 2.5 with a step back. Another really solid floor set.

2:09 pm. Gehani SRI FX: Triple spin, and then a triple full!! QUEEN! 2.5 to front pike, excellent! Switch to switch half. Double tuck with a step. Double full. THAT WAS SO GOOD. 12.133 (4.8, 7.333)

2:07 pm. Kharenkova GEO FX: Double tuck, a little low. Hit the second pass, and then a 1.5 to front tuck. Hit the rest. Solid set. 12.200 (4.6, 7.600)

2:04 pm. Chusovitina UZB VT: Nails the Rudi for her first vault! It was truly great. 14.833 (5.8, 9.033). Went for the tsuk double for her second vault, but crashed it!!!!! NOOOOOO. When was the last time she had a double? 13.333 there, averages a 14.083.

Nair ALG FX: Double pike, stumble on the landing. The rest was good, some simple passes but she hit them all. 11.466 (4.1, 7.366)

Schäfer BB: Bhs loso, break at the hips but held on. Switch ring is good. Hit the Schäfer as well. A huge wobble on a transverse jump after that but stays on. Front aerial, another big wobble, and a fall this time. Side aerial. Hit the gainer dismount. 11.800 (5.3, 6.500)

2:03 pm. Taman EGY UB: Tkachev, Bail to toe-on to toe shoot, blind change to front giant half, double pike with a small hop. Another solid set for Egypt! 11.433 (4.2, 7.233)

2:01 pm. Alistratava BLR VT: Just a Yurchenko layout.

2:00 pm. Sakr TUN FX: Hit her first pass. Second was a front full, some rough form with a stumble forward. Layout full.

Voss GER BB: Candle mount. Killed it on the triple flight series. Tour jeté half, nailed it. Side aerial is super clean. Good series into a bhs. Clean side somi. She’s DOING WORK. 2.5 with a big step to the side but that was an EXCELLENT routine. 13.600 (5.7, 7.900)

Traukova BLR VT: Nice FTY! 13.466 (4.6, 8.866)

1:58 pm. Salem EGY UB: Maloney to Hindorff, nice! Blind change to straddle Jaeger, bail to Ray, clear hip half to front layout. 12.133 (4.9, 7.233)

1:57 pm. Petz GER BB: Hit her mount, then off on a double wolf turn. Had a big wobble on a front salto after that, bhs loso is good, hip check. Clean front aerial to split jump to bhs. Double tuck, hop back. 11.533 (5.4, 6.133)

Hussein EGY UB: Toe full, missed her toes on the Maloney, gets them the second time, Maloney to Tkachev, really low on the latter. Layout dismount. 11.833 (4.7, 7.133)

1:56 pm. Khalilova UZB VT: Tsuk layout, I’d give it a pike. 12.333 (3.7, 8.633)

1:53 pm. Seitz GER BB: Punch front, good. Bhs layout, piked as always but super solid. Wobble but good save on her double spin. Clean side aerial. Hit the dismount. 12.833 (4.9, 7.933)

Santi CHI FX: Double pike to start is good. 2.5 to front layout, excellent! Clean double tuck. 11.166 (4.5, 6.966, -0.3)

Mohamed EGY UB: Maloney to bail to toe shoot, great! Nice handstand before her blind change to straddle Jaeger. Tucked toe front half. Really great work. 12.366 (4.5, 7.866)

1:47 pm. Gehani SRI BB: Hit the first series and then a front aerial to split jump. Went for a roundoff but then had a fall. Does it again into a back tuck, great. Switch to switch half. Stuck the front full. Great routine until that fall.

1:45 pm. Traukova BLR FX: A little short on her double pike. Clean front full. Nice leaps. Hit the last pass. 11.766 (4.3, 7.466)

1:42 pm. Alistratava BLR FX: Double pike is great, then a solid 2.5 to punch front. Switch to tour jeté half. Double tuck to finihs, solid landing, just a little low.

Kharenkova GEO BB: I’M SEEING KHARANKOVA PERFORM AT WORLDS AND I’M GONNA CRYYYYYYY. Punch front. Bhs bhs layout, solid!!! Front aerial to split ring jump, good. Side aerial, little check. Hit her jumps series and a full turn, just a check at the end. Switch ring to ring leap. SHE’S KILLING IT. Hit the dismount. SO GOOOOOD. 12.033 (5.0, 7.033)

1:40 pm. Bui GER UB: Piked Jaeger to Pak, Maloney to Bhardwaj, legs a bit wild but she gets it, van Leeuwen, nice handstand before the toe full, almost on the bar, to Gienger, good! Double pike dismount. 14.200 (5.9, 8.300)

1:38 pm. Khalilova UZB FX: Double pike, good start. Solid landing on her double tuck. Switch ring to tour jeté half.

Nair ALG BB: Solid bhs loso! Switch to split leap, good. Front aerial, pause before a jump. Wild on her side aerial and she falls. 😦 UGH she was doing so well. Transverse split jump half is really good. Clean layout dismount. 10.433 (3.8, 6.633)

Taman EGY VT: DTY, not bad!! Chest a slightly and she may have been OOB. 13.900 (5.4, 8.800, -0.3)

1:37 pm. Seitz GER UB: Maloney to Ricna, blind change to piked Jaeger, nice handstands, Downie to Pak, beautiful!! Van Leeuwen with slight ankle separation, toe full to full-in with a little hop. Gorgeous. 14.800 (6.2, 8.600)

1:36 pm. Castro CHI BB: I didn’t see most of this, but she hit her double full at the end.

Khalilova UZB FX: Good routine! Had a solid double tuck, and then a barani to punch front at the end. 12.033 (4.5, 7.533)

Salem EGY VT: Big FTY, small hop back. Good work! Before her, Farah Hussein got a 13.500 for her FTY. 13.533 for Salem.

1:34 pm. Petz UB: Hindorff, blind change to big piked Jaeger, and then she’s off on a Tkachev after that. Hit her new soon-to-be eponymous dismount!

Sarah Voss just outscored Diana Varinska on bars lmao I love Sarah but no. Her E score was like 0.7 higher than Varinska’s. Judges, hi, first subdivision doesn’t mean you get to be rude.

1:33 pm. Santi CHI BB: I wasn’t typing during this but what I saw was great which is really big for her!! This is usually her problematic event. 10.975 (4.3, 6.675)

Mohamed EGY VT: Hit her FTY with a bounce back. 13.466 (4.6, 8.866)

1:32 pm. Chusovitina UZB FX: Double tuck, a little wild on the landing. Double full, legs are a little weak there. Front full into a lunge. 11.300 (4.2, 7.100)

Voss GER UB: Hit her first release, then a Ray to Pak, just some form issues in the Pak. Something into a Gienger after that, then she pings off for her cool back tuck thing that I never know what to refer to it as.  13.766 (5.3, 8.466)

1:27 pm. The athletes have just marched in! Just beginning the touch warm-up now.

  1. I love the juxtaposition of SO GOOOOOD, followed by 12.033 XD Beam scoring is truly whack this quad. I feel like good or even just decent routines aren’t rewarded enough and just lumped in with really bad routines.

    • Yup. It’s such a bummer because people like Kharenkova in this routine truly look fantastic but then they get deducted 100 times for all stupid little things. It’s so frustrating because the routines are fabulous and solid.

  2. 54.99 for Seitz! So great to see her hit all her upgrades, she just seems like such a sweet and positive person that watching her makes you happy:-)

  3. Ugh I feel so sad seeing Kharenkova’s scores knowing a few years ago she was capable of 55.5s. Russia literally squeezed the life out of her. I hope to see her build back up. If Russia actually knew how to give young gymnasts incentives and build them up they could actually have a REAL bench.
