The cast for the 20th season of “Dancing with the Stars” was announced this morning, and 2008 Olympic all-around champion Nastia Liukin is looking to add a mirror ball trophy to her medal collection.
Liukin will partner with Derek Hough, who also danced with Shawn Johnson in her second appearance on the ballroom competition show as part of the All Star cast in 2012. Johnson, who won the mirror ball trophy during her first stint in 2009, finished as the runner-up with Hough.
The cast also includes actor Suzanne Somers, music legend Patti LaBelle, football star Michael Sam, Hunger Games star Willow Shields, “Shark Tank” mogul Robert Herjavec, actress Rumer Willis, “Party Rock Anthem” singer Redfoo, model Charlotte McKinney, motivational speaker Noah Galloway, and R5 singer-songwriter Riker Lynch.
Typically, athletes have enjoyed great success on the television program. In addition to Johnson’s win, champions have included figure skater Kirsti Yamaguchi, ice dancer Meryl Davis, speed skater Apolo Ohno, football players Emmitt Smith and Hines Ward. In 2013, two-time Olympic gold medalist Aly Raisman made it to finals, but was eliminated in the first half of the show, placing fourth.
Season 20 marks the show’s ten year anniversary and will begin airing on March 16.
