The third Italian Serie A meet will be held this Saturday March 14 at the Mandela Forum in Florence, Italy.
If you’ve forgotten how the meet works, take a look at our preview from the first Serie A back in January, which goes into the format and rules. Not much has changed between the second meet and this weekend, but it’s possible that neither Vanessa Ferrari nor Erika Fasana (both of whom competed at the American Cup last Saturday) won’t perform on all four events, and Lavinia Marongiu is out with the flu.
It’s okay, though – their team, Brixia Brescia, has all but secured the “Scudetto” (the trophy of the Serie A), notching 50 points toward their overall total after winning gold in both Ancona and Milan. They have room for a bit of turnover, and will welcome the promising 12-year-old Giorgia Villa, who will make her debut at tomorrow’s meet.
After struggling in the first two meets, GAL Lissone will finally attempt to get on the podium now that their two best all-arounders, Carlotta Ferlito and Elisa Meneghini, are back. However, Ferlito will only perform simplified routines due to the foot injury that kept her out of the meet in Milan.
The A2 competition will begin at 10 am local time (4 am EST) while the A1 competition will start at 4:20 pm local time (10:20 am EST). Again, there won’t be a live stream, but the Italian federation will upload videos after the meet. You can also purchase tickets from Centro Ginnastica Firenze if you’re in Florence and want to stop by.
