Star-Studded Field Set for U.S. Championships

We’re a little over a week away from the 2015 P&G Championships, and USA Gymnastics has just released the field set to compete in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Back-to-back world champion and last week’s U.S. Classic champion Simone Biles leads the field alongside 2012 Olympic gold medalists Gabby Douglas, Aly Raisman, and Kyla Ross.

The headliners are joined by 2014 World gold medalists Alyssa Baumann, Madison Kocian, Ashton Locklear, and Mykayla Skinner as well the 2015 Pan American Games gold medal team of Madison Desch, Rachel Gowey, Amelia Hundley, Emily Schild, and Megan Skaggs. In addition, 2015 U.S. Classic bronze medalist Maggie Nichols and first-year senior Bailie Key will also compete, with the competition marking Key’s senior national championships debut.

This year’s U.S. Championships will be held at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse from Thursday August 13 through Sunday August 16. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster online or via phone at 1-800-745-3000.

  1. So I hope this yearr P&G will be better than last year which only 8 did AA. I know that there will be a lot of score inflation but it would still be exciting if there is like more than 5 AA that can get 60+. To get 60+ you really can’t fall on anything (excluding simone of course)….

I hope kyla hits. Only problem is that this year even if she hits both days, she will still have to count on others to mess up to get on the podium….

  2. I also hope Kyla hits. I think in order to stay on major international teams, Kyla needs to hit all her routines and be first or second on bars and top 3 on beam. Kyla doesn’t necessarily need to be top AA to be a valuable team member. Marta loves sturdy, dependable gymnasts, and Kyla usually falls into that category. Plus, an international team without Kyla’s coach, Jenny, seems wrong so Kyla has to make the team so Jenny can go.

I hope Aly is cleaner on her beam connections and that she doesn’t fall on floor. Also, I would love for her amanar to not scare me, but most of all, I want her to score higher than Gabby.

I think Gabby was overscored at classics, especially her floor, and I hope that doesn’t continue. Her floor is…confusing. It is not fluid. It is like pose. Move to next pose awkwardly. Maybe leap or spin. walk to corner. Tumble.

  3. Wow! The senior field is impressive! Sad won’t be seeing Victoria Nguyen’s gorgeous beam routine, but she’s a 2001 baby, so she still has time to shine.
