In every MAG final there was someone who qualified to the Olympics! That’s really thrilling!!!! Petrounias is crying! I love this stuff! Between this rings final where everyone went clean and then GBR 1st ever World Gold, and 4 people over all qualifying to the Olympics, and the 4 way tie for UB gold… That’s what this is all about!

Other Americans Competing today include Alex Naddour on Pommel Horse, Brandon Wynn and Donnell Whittenburg on Still Rings, and Madison Kocian and Gabby Douglas on the Uneven Bars.
Probably one of the most interesting stories of the competition is that 2015 World AA Silver Medalist, Manrique Larduet, has still yet to qualify to Rio due to complicated procedures. He has a chance today on Floor finals. If he makes the podium, he earns his spot for 2016.
Top qualifiers on each event are as follows:
MAG FX: Kenzo Shirai (JPN)
MAG PH: Louis Smith (GBR)
MAG SR: Eleftherious Petrounias (GRE)
WAG VT: Simone Biles (USA)
WAG UB: Daria Spiridonova (RUS)
Today we will have Men’s Floor, Pommel Horse, and Still Rings as well as Women’s Vault and Uneven Bars.

WHY IS PAESKA IN FIRST!!!! 😦 😦 😦 : ( The Korean girl should have been first! Or Biles! #SoMad

Biles being third is definitely fair. I think that both Maria and Hong had some issues. Maria with form and Hong with landing. It was a close margin…I’m happy for Maria though.

Wasn’t arguing Biles being 3rd. She is going to have to up her difficulty on her 2nd vault for sure, but I think Hong Un Jong should have won. Nothing against Paseka, I think she’s fantastic, just from my view in the press box, I thought 1-2 should have been switched.

I’m happy for her too, don’t get me wrong, especially after the sad 4th place finish for them in team. But I do like Hong quite a bit. 😉

Poor Kaya! 😦 I was hoping he would get a bronze. Too bad they won’t allow ties!

They’re allowing ties. Kaya will get a bronze.

Not to gripe, but Komova and Kocian deserve to have the Gold by themselves…Same D-score and E-score. Spiridonova and Fan were great, but due to the higher difficulty and less E score, shouldn’t they be Silver and Bronze??
LikeLike
No they no longer break ties in this way for Worlds. Only in quals.

Oh! Good to know. I still think Komova was teeny bit underscored since she stuck her dismount and put her Piked Tkachev back in. I think her Layout Jaeger got downgraded, because with it, she would have had a 6.7. But, I think the scores were correct. Fan Yilin (6.9) and Daria Spiridonova (6.7) definitely had more deductions, higher difficulty…Komova (6.6) and Kocian (6.6) both had cleaner routines, but lower difficulty. I think this result will make Komova upgrade her difficulty even more to avoid this situation at the Olympics. Go Girls!!! Congrats to all.

Kocian was overscored. Her execution was much less cleaner than Komova (3 or 4 sepration legs and hop on her dismount). She didn’t derserve the same Escore.

I like when Simone is challenged by other girls. I think it is good for sport. It would be boring if she was the first everywhere. According to me, she is not as good as last year (many faults on beam and floor). She is still incredibly strong, unquestionnably the best, but her peak is possibly behind her.

Is Manrique Larduet qualified for Rio? Or does the world medal rule only count for event finals and not the all around?
LikeLike
No not yet. He still has 2 more chances to qualify through event finals otherwise he must go trough the test event

so the separation of E & D scores is not achieving its aims. 4 way tie is ridiculous.

There are no tie breakers in finals at worlds only in qualifications.

Jaegers need to be straddled d pike/ open pike e full layout g . it is very hard to get the layout but they should be encouraged & therefore some bonus for opening. i’d like to see the deltchev back as an e .
We are needing some differentiation . Maybe tachevs with club feet downgraded to a c.

These four gold medals are very disturbing … And can you explain that Madison had the same score than Victoria ? Who was underscored/overscored ? So strange …

Could someone comment on how Vika’s form deductions equalled those of Madison’s? (I saw many more leg seps and flat feet in Madison’s routine and am puzzled).
