The 2016 Olympic Games Master Team List

With the 2016 Olympic Games coming up in August, the FIG has released the names of all individual qualifiers and we’ll be hearing news of the twelve countries sending full teams over the next month. In an effort to keep everyone up-to-date, we’ll be maintaining this list of all official teams once named. If you have any news or additions, please let us know in the comments! We will also track all changes here, i.e. if an athlete is injured or no longer able to compete.

ALGERIA

Confirmed by the FIG as a continental representative.

ARGENTINA

Confirmed at the 2016 Olympic Test Event.

ARMENIA

Confirmed at the 2016 Olympic Test Event.

AUSTRALIA

Confirmed by Gymnastics Australia as of June 8. Emily Little and Lauren Mitchell are the alternates.

AUSTRIA

Confirmed by Kurier as of May 15.

BELARUS

Confirmed at the 2016 Olympic Test Event.

BELGIUM

Confirmed by the Belgian Gymnastics Federation on June 29. Cindy Vandenhole and Julie Meyers are the alternates. As of July 14, Klinckaert has withdrawn due to knee injury and was replaced by Hermans.

BRAZIL

Confirmed by Folha as of May 21. Carolyne Pedro is the alternate.

CANADA

Confirmed by Gymnastics Canada on June 30. Madison Copiak and Megan Roberts are the alternates.

CHILE

Confirmed at the 2016 Olympic Test Event.

CHINA

Confirmed as the nominative team by the Chinese Gymnastics Federation as of May 16. As of July 17, Liu Tingting has withdrawn due to a hand injury and was replaced by Tan. Liu Jinru is the alternate.

COLOMBIA

Confirmed at the 2016 Olympic Test Event.

CROATIA

Confirmed at the 2016 Olympic Test Event.

CUBA

Confirmed at the 2016 Olympic Test Event.

EGYPT

Confirmed by the FIG as a continental representative.

FRANCE

Confirmed by the Federation Francaise Gymnastique as of June 27. Anne Kuhm is the alternate.

GERMANY

Confirmed by Deutscher Turner-Bund on July 10. Leah Griesser, Michelle Timm, and Pauline Tratz are the alternates.

GREAT BRITAIN

Confirmed by British Gymnastics on July 12. Gabby Jupp, Rebecca Tunney, and Kelly Simm are the alternates.

GREECE

Confirmed by Al Jazeera as of June 18.

GUATEMALA

Confirmed at the 2016 Olympic Test Event.

HUNGARY

Confirmed by the Hungarian Gymnastics Federation as of June 8.

ICELAND

Confirmed at the 2016 Olympic Test Event.

INDIA

Confirmed at the 2016 Olympic Test Event.

IRELAND

ITALY

Confirmed by the Federazione Ginnastica d’Italia on July 10. Lara Mori is the alternate.

JAMAICA

Confirmed at the 2016 Olympic Test Event.

JAPAN

Confirmed as the nominative team by the Japanese Gymnastics Federation as of June 10. Confirmed as the official team by The Japan Times as of June 27. Marina Kawasaki and Natsumi Sasada are the alternates.

MEXICO

Confirmed by Quadratin Deportes as of April 18.

NETHERLANDS

Confirmed by Koninklijke Nederlandse Gymnastiek Unie on July 10. Reina Beltman and Tisha Volleman are the alternates.

NEW ZEALAND

Confirmed at the 2016 Olympic Test Event.

NORTH KOREA

Confirmed by Hong’s vault medal finish at the 2015 World Championships.

PANAMA

Confirmed by the FIG as the tripartite nominee.

PERU

Confirmed at the 2016 Olympic Test Event.

POLAND

Confirmed by Eurosport as of June 3.

PORTUGAL

Confirmed at the 2016 Olympic Test Event.

ROMANIA

Confirmed by the Romanian federation. Larisa Iordache is the alternate.

RUSSIA

Nominative team confirmed by R Sport on July 3. Evgeniya ShelgunovaLilia Akhaimova, and Natalia Kapitonova are the alternates. Ksenia Afanasyeva was originally named the traveling alternate, but as of July 21 she was replaced by Shelgunova due to illness.

SLOVAKIA

Confirmed at the 2016 Olympic Test Event.

SLOVENIA

Confirmed at the 2016 Olympic Test Event.

SOUTH KOREA

Confirmed by Yonhap News Agency on June 12. As of July 29, Lee Go Im has been replaced by Lee Eun Ju following an injury while training vault, according to the Yonhap News Agency.

SPAIN

Confirmed by 20 Minutos as of April 28.

SWEDEN

Confirmed at the 2016 Olympic Test Event.

  1. Thank you so much for this list. I’m planning to do a gifset project for D scores as I did in 2013 and YOG 2014 and this is really helpful to know who’s already confirmed. Also, do you know when the nominative lists come out saying who’s doing what events? Some are obvious but others might be a bit trickier…

    • No problem! I’m not sure…I think most are doing the all-around aside from Larrissa Miller, who will only do bars/floor, and Chuso, who is definitely doing vault (obvs I guess) though I’m not sure what else she’s planning on doing. I just heard she won’t do AA.
