9:58 pm. Automatic national team is Simone Biles, Morgan Hurd, Riley McCusker, Grace McCallum, Shilese Jones, and Jade Carey!

Kara Eaker misses it by 0.05 and Trinity Thomas by 0.1 but both are likely for worlds camp and probably additional national team spots.

9:54 pm. Hurd FX: Last routine of the night, arena to herself LIKE A QUEEN. Double double, bounce back but it’s fab in the air. Beautiful double layout, tiny baby step. Front layout to front double full, a tad low but not bad, little bounce. Switch ring to ring leap, very nice. Excellent double pike to finish, baby bounce back. QUEEN.

9:51 pm. Adams FX: 2.5 to front tuck, stuck. Stumbled back her double pike and sat it out of bounds. 😦

9:50 m. Johnston BB: I missed the beginning. Front aerial, side aerial, wants to bring it through to the switch leap to split leap but is a bit too slow. Double tuck with a step back.

9:49 pm. Blakely UB: Bail, caught it with her legs FULLY BENT, that was terrifying, popped off. Muscled through the toe full before her toe shoot, lovely stalder to toe half to front giant to another front giant to double front half-out. Definitely not what she wanted but she’s kinda laughing at her issues so that’s great.

9:48 pm. Dunne VT: They put the numbers in wrong for her so it says her vault is 4302 instead of 432, bless. FTY, good! Glad she had a solid day.

9:46 pm. Biles VT: Second is the Amanar, amazing, brilliant, goddess, little bounce.

Davis UB: Pak to Maloney to Ray, I think, I didn’t see bits and pieces but I think that was everything, hit her piked Jaeger as well. Double front cowboyed but looked good.

Jones BB: I missed most of this but she hit everything I saw at the beginning. Punch front was really nice, as was the side straddle half. Double tuck with a step. I think our girl made the national team!

Thomas FX: Beautiful double layout. 2.5 comes in QUITE low to the double tuck but she gets it around somehow. MAGIC. Front layout to front double full into a jump, great, and then a bounce back on her double pike.

9:45 pm. Biles VT: Cheng is first, a little more rushed than Friday but it’s still beyond fabulous. Super hard to deduct from. Little scoot back on top of the usual crossed feet.

9:41 pm. Eaker VT: Yurchenko 1.5, a little tucked and a little seated, hop back.

McCusker BB: Triple wolf turn, a little bit wild on the last rotation, double is better. Hit a jump series and then a super bhs loso loso. Leap series into a korbut then a switch to side aerial, nice. Double tuck looked better tonight, step back.

Frazier FX: Great switch full I think into the corner. Double layout is low going into the jump. Low arabian double front into a jump. Tucked full-in, stuck with her chest a little low. Double tuck with a bounce. She sold the CRAP out of that performance.

Blanco UB: Toe full to Maloney to low Tkachev, fall. Back on for a Pak, flexed feet, van Leeuwen, hit the dismount.

9:39 pm. Carey VT: Second vault is the Lopez, messy on the entry, a little piked in the air, step back.

McCallum FX: Stuck the double double! Fab. Perfect front layout front double full front tuck, SO clean. Solid rotation on her triple full, but her ankles are a bit messy, and a great double tuck to finish.

Chiles UB: Toe full to Maloney to bail to toe shoot, nice, blind change to piked Jaeger, Tkachev to Gienger, YAAAAAAAAAS GIRL. Full-in almost stuck. THANK YOU JORDAN.

9:37 pm. Carey VT: DTY, not her cleanest but a ton of power, big step back.

Shchennikova UB: Toe full to Komova II to Tkachev, Ricna to Pak is SUPER clean to nice Chow half, stalder half to front giant to low half-in double tuck but hey, she hit it.

Smith BB: Hit her wolf turn and flight series. Little bounce on her standing full. Punch front pike, little bobble into the split jump to straddle jump. Side straddle jump half, side split jump half, little bobble on the front aerial, solid double pike. Glad to see her finish on a high note.

9:30 pm. Rotation 7 Standings

1. Simone Biles 104.250
2. Morgan Hurd 99.450
3. Riley McCusker 98.400
4. Grace McCallum 97.850
5. Shilese Jones 96.650
6. Kara Eaker 96.350
7. Trinity Thomas 96.150
8. Jade Carey 95.050

9:28 pm. Biles FX: Arena to herself, last one up in this rotation. Moors, pikes it down a bit at the end with a step back, couldn’t see if it went OOB. Front full through to tucked full-in, trying to hold back her power she’s actually a little SHORT, and has to take a step forward. Switch leap to tour jeté full, then a huge Biles, takes a huge leap forward OOB, I think it was supposed to be her stag but it just ends up flying with no shape really. Double wolf turn has nice control. Double double, bounce back but stays in! More little mistakes than she’d probably like but she’s still a queen.

9:27 pm. Adams BB: Very smooth triple wolf turn. Double wolf turn after that is also nice. Bhs loso loso. Front aerial to split jump to sissone, side somi, side split jump half, good double full to finish. Good on her for hitting while the crowd SCREECHED for Simone just walking around the podium.

9:25 pm. Eaker FX: 2.5 to front full, VERY nice!! So polished. Front layout to front double full, a little low. BEAUTIFUL STUCK TRIPLE FULL, DEAR LORD. Twisting queen. Low double pike, thought she was gonna lose it for a sec, chest down with a little stumble forward.

9:23 pm. Jones UB: Maloney to Pak (slight leg sep), clean Chow half, toe half to piked Jaeger, full-in with a hop. Nice work. She looks SO TALL AND GROWN UP.

Thomas BB: I missed bits and pieces of this. Front aerial to split jump to tuck jump half, nice! Little wobble on a jump series, side aerial is nice. Double full with a hop back.

9:21 pm. Kenlin FX: Randi, step back. FAVE SKILL ALERT. Stumbled around her Memmel a bit. Front double full to punch front to stag, good. Double tuck, a little cowboyed and low. Double pike is also low, little stumble forward. Glad to see her get through it knowing she’s still coming back from injury.

Gilstrap VT: Yurchenko 15, a little tucked throughout.

9:18 pm. McCusker UB: Toe full right on the bar to Maloney to Tkachev, nice. Ricna to Pak, BEAUTIFUL to Chow half, YAAAAAS IT’S SO FREAKING GOOD. Lovely handstand before stalder to blind change to front giant to half-in double tuck. RILEEEEEY THAT WAS THE BARS ROUTINE I’VE ALWAYS WANTED FROM YOU, SHE LOOKS BEYOND THRILLED I’M SO HAPPY.

Frazier BB: Hit her wolf turn. Solid bhs loso. Maybe a little check at the end. Side split jump half. Good side somi. I missed the rest but what I saw was super confident.

Davis VT: DTY, CRAZY form in the air, her legs were literally straddled at one point. Got it under control though, but just not the best.

9:17 pm. Carey FX: Moors, I missed it in detail so I can’t comment on how it looked or how the landing looked but she hit it. The double lay full looked great. Double double is quite short though. Nice control on the double L turn. Tour jeté half. Front tuck through to full-in, little hop back.

9:16 pm. Soza UB: Toe full RIGHT on the bar to a lovely Tkachev, lovely handstand before her Ray, clear hip half to Ezhova, nice. Van Leeuwen, NOOOOOO sat her full-twisting double layout, looks mad bummed. I would be too, that was otherwise lovely.

9:15 pm. McCallum BB: Candle mount gets applause lol. Bless. Triple wolf turn, double wolf turn, both VERY nice. Side aerial loso with some bent knee issues. Punch front tuck, switch leap to front aerial to split jump. Very clean. Split leap to full turn. Solid double tuck with a step. Awesome.

Chiles VT: Tsuk full for her second, very good!

9:12 pm. Dunne FX: Gets the double layout around just a ta short, little hop. Double full. Switch ring to tour jeté half. Front tuck through to double tuck. Good double pike to finish.

Smith UB: Toe-on to inbar full (a little messy) to inbar half to straddle Jaeger, slipped off and flew onto her back before bouncing back up. Her face was like oh crap wtf. Downie, Ricna to Pak, some leg sep, little bounce on the full-in. Ugh abut the fall. 😦

Chiles VT: Just the DTY today but it’s a huge one, super clean and stuck cold, DAYUM lady.

9:10 pm. Johnston UB: Hop change to toe front to piked Jaeger, good! clear hip to Pak (leg sep), hit the rest including a soild double pike.

Blakely VT: FTY, very nice!!

Hurd BB: Standing full, little stumble back. Side aerial, bhs loso is solid, clean front aerial to split jump to straddle jump, switch leap, a little low on her side split jump half, lands it a little early, full turn, switch ring, flexed back foot, big double pike, hop back.

Shchennikova VT: DTY, one of her better ones, mostly clean in the air until the end, where she’s a bit short.

9:05 pm. So Trinity Thomas wasn’t credited her van Leeuwen after her root skill problem, and her D came in 0.4 lower than Friday. I’ve seen this a bunch already…gymnasts with two toe-on skills earlier in the routine then have a Maloney or van Leeuwen after the Pak, but they need a breather between the Pak and the next transition, so they do a toe-on since it’s the same root as their upcoming transition…and then their Maloney or van Leeuwen doesn’t count. Time for everyone to train stalders or clear hips as backup ‘I need to regroup on a breather skill’ skills?

9:04 pm. Rotation 6 Standings

1. Simone Biles 89.550
2. Morgan Hurd 85.900
3. Grace McCallum 84.150
4. Riley McCusker 83.600
5. Shilese Jones 83.050
6. Trinity Thomas 82.900
7. Kara Eaker 82.800
8. Shania Adams 80.950

9:02 pm. Davis FX: Bounce back on her opening pass, a piked full-in. Double pike, jumps her feet together. Switch ring to tour jeté half. Stumble on .5 wolf turn, hand down. Hit her third pass. Double tuck with a hop to finish.

8:56 pm. Eaker BB: Hit her mount into a wonky split ring leap, hit something after that but I missed it, front aerial to split ring jump to back handspring that she dances right out of. Side aerial loso loso is good, split leap to side somi is very nice. Switch ring into a bhs to scale to split leap to Korbut, love, wobble on the switch to switch side, 2.5 with a step.

Blanco FX: Arabian double front is solid. Good double pike and 1.5 to front full. Clean double full to finish.

8:54 pm. Chiles FX: Get it baby Aly. 1.5 through to arabian double front, a tiny bit low but good cover. Dos Santos is lovely in the air but perhaps a bit too slow in the rotation, little stumble. Double layout, way low with a stumble forward. Did a butt spin kinda fall out of her wolf turn? Damn. Double pike is good.

8:50 pm. Kenlin BB: Side aerial, front aerial to split leap to split jump, a little tentative but hits. Side split jump half, a little check. Fell on something after that and hit her double pike dismount with leg sep and a large step back.

Thomas UB: Weiler half is a little wild, to toe on to Maloney to clear hip full to Tkachev to Pak, STACKED. Toe-on to van Leeuwen, she’s gonna lose the van Leeuwen, that was her fourth toe-on. 😦 Hit the double layout. Wondering if the judges will be smart to catch the van Leeuwen as the fourth toe-on root skill?

8:49 pm. Shchennikova FX: A little weak on the front layout to double front, her form’s pretty messy. I missed her second pass but think she hit. Hit the 1.5 to front full and then a double tuck to finish, chest down with a scoot back.

8:48 pm. Frazier UB: Love love love this gray leo. Clean van Leeuwen, clear hip half to low piked Jaeger but she gets it! Huge Church to gorgeous Pak!!! Maloney to Tkachev, YAS. Blind full, double layout basically stuck. Amazing, Jordyn looks THRILLED, Waller looks THRILLED, Marz looks THRILLED.

8:46 pm. Carey BB: Wolf turn, switch leap to side aerial, a little wonky but not bad. Side split jump half, bhs loso layout/pike, whatever the last one is supposed to be, it was solid. Switch to switch half to back tuck is great. Front aerial to split jump to straddle jump, jumps could use some polish. Low set into her double pike, big step back to hold it.

8:44 pm. McCusker VT: DTY, beautiful in the air! A little tentative on the landing, hopped it OOB slightly I think.

Blakely FX: Sky high arabian double front, little steps back. Double pike. Good 2.5.

McCallum UB: Hop change to Weiler half to Chow to Tkachev, nice. Pak, close with legs apart. Van Leeuwen, toe-on to toe full a little late to full-in, basically stuck. Some great moments in there and some iffy ones but she stayed on!

8:43 pm. Dunne BB: Front aerial into a jump series, and then a split leap to switch half, nice on both. Switch ring, back leg a little low but better than most. Good punch front tuck. Side split jump half is good, and then a smooth full turn. Just a layout dismount. I thin I missed a couple of skills but it was nice overall!

8:41 pm. Hurd UB: Komova II to stalder full to Tkachev, lovely, nice handstand before Ricna to Pak, very clean, just slight ankle sep. Arched the handstand before the Ray to high slightly but good correction. Inbar half to front giant half, inbar full right on the bar to full-in, almost stuck, just steps back to salute.

Soza VT: FTY, not a ton of power, step back.

8:39 pm. Gilstrap FX: Nice turn series at the beginning. Arabian double front, some leg separation but no cowboy, and a solid landing. Front layout to front double full, step forward. Switch ring to tour jeté half to split jump. Solid double pike, little slide back. Switch full to stag jump is really nice. Kind of falls out of her double wolf turn a little. Finishes with a double tuck, chest a little low, hop. Good work!

Smith VT: DTY, much better than Friday! Major leg sep on the pre-flight but just the usual looseness in the air and the landing is more confident.

8:37 pm. Biles BB: Wobbles through her wolf turn, lands it really high. Straddle jump to pike jump. Barani looks not bad! Solid bhs loso loso, switch to switch half to back tuck, leg up wobble, punch front pike is solid, front aerial to split jump is nice, full-in dismount, chest down but basically stuck.

Adams UB: Hit the beginning, clean van Leeuwen, Jaeger, hit the dismount.

Johnston VT: Yurchenko 1.5, good! Little bounce.

8:36 pm. Jones VT: DTY, huge and excellent! Just runs back out of it.

8:31 pm. Rotation 5 Standings

1. Simone Biles 74.650
2. Morgan Hurd 71.400
3. Grace McCallum 70.500
4. Riley McCusker 69.500
5. Trinity Thomas 69.400
6. Shilese Jones 68.700
7. Kara Eaker 68.350
8. Jade Carey 67.900

8:28 pm. Blanco BB: Lovely mount as always. Switch ring, weak back leg, little check. Bhs loso is good, just a check. Front aerial to split ring jump, wobble. Side aerial, switch to switch half, side somi, all nice. Clean double full. Very nice overall, I can forgive the bobbles because she’s so lovely.

8:25 pm. Chiles BB: Double wolf turn, spins up out of it and couldn’t save it wolfkino style. 😦 Fall. Hit her bhs loso and then her jump series. Switch to switch half after that. Side somi. Punch front. I LOVE HER LEO SO MUCH. Double pike with a step.

Apparently Ragan put her hand down on her low triple full landing. I couldn’t see it.

8:23 pm. Soza FX: Tucked full-in, little steps back. Hit her second pass into a front tuck. Double tuck is good, but double pike is a bit short.

8:21 pm. Shchennikova BB: Triple and double wolf turns, got them both but the first gets a bit high in her stance. Bhs loso loso, a tad short with a little check. Front aerial to split jump to sissone, Onodi, little wobble, leg comes up. Side aerial, little wobble. Switch leap I think after that. Doesn’t connect to side somi, I think that was the goal. Looked like she missed a foot on her double tuck, still gets it around albeit a little cowboyed. Stumble on the landing.

8:19 pm. Smith FX: LOVE this leo!!! Nailed the double layout! YAY. I just want her to hit and be happy. 1.5 through to triple full, doesn’t get enough of a punch out of the 1.5 and lands her triple full way short with her ankles totally crunched GOD I CRINGE I hurt for her but she’s okay. Cowboyed double arabian, little stumble back before the stag jump. Double pike, tentative landing, stumble back. You can tell she’s trying her hardest to favor her ankles on those landings.

8:18 pm. Blakely BB: Hit her opening series, front handspring to front tuck after that has a wobble. Front aerial to split jump to split jump half. Not as confident tonight as she can be. Good double tuck off, bounce on the landing.

Carey UB: Ray isn’t bad. Ezhova, Maloney to Pak, toe shoot, clear hip to a nice handstand, blind full, hit the dismount with a bounce.

8:14 pm. Dunne UB: I just want her to have a nice hit clean comp today. Toe full, Chow to Pak, very nice! Van Leeuwen. Toe half, legs come apart but she saves it! Catches the Jaeger. Tkachev after that is good, muscles the handstand after and then has a wild swing out of it, doesn’t cast to handstand. Gets the double tuck around with a bounce. Good covers on a couple of mistakes that could’ve been falls.

Johnston FX: Double layout, little bit of a wild bounce back, but she keeps it inbounds somehow! Good whip whip to double tuck and also hit her third pass. Stuck the double pike to finish.

8:12 pm. Frazier VT: DTY, better landing than Friday! Still a little weak in the air but not bad.

Gilstrap BB: Punch front to split jump to wolf jump, loved the amplitude on the wolf jump. Bhs loso is super solid. Front aerial to split ring jump, awkward back leg. Switch ring, back leg is cleaner than on the jump but it’s still pretty low. Double full with a hop.

8:10 pm. McCallum VT: DTY, beautiful form!! Just a bounce in place.

Jones FX: Easy double double, nice. Just a hop. Arabian double front, two little steps forward. Double L turn, nice. Tucked full-in, a little short and then she has a bit of a slide back. Good double tuck to finish.

Biles UB: Weiler half to Maloney to Tkachev, nice. Toe full to piked Tkachev to Pak, some little form things in there, van Leeuwen is kind of a wild mess, Fabrichnova with a hop forward. Not as good as yesterday but good fight, her van Leeuwen was high key hilarious because Laurent like jumped out of the way as if he was gonna get knocked off the podium, I’m dead.

8:08 pm. Eaker UB: Maloney to clear hip to big Ray to Pak, VERY nice! Van Leeuwen, great handstand before her clear hip full (a little late), blind change to solid piked Jaeger, good double layout. Fab job! Armine is pumped.

Davis BB: Love her little hold on the beam at the beginning! Good bhs loso. Switch to switch half to split jump half, side aerial, step back, leg up on her Onodi, wolf jump, split ring…jump? leap? I didn’t see the takeoff, but the back leg was a bit off. Double pike with a hop back.

Hurd VT: Solid DTY, hop on the landing.

8:03 pm. Thomas VT: Yurchenko 1.5, EXCELLENT! Little hop but great form.

McCusker FX: Double layout, super open and she flares the landing a bit but it’s a tad short. Front double full to punch front to stag is better, just her twists in the air not quite where they need to be if we want to get picky. Kind of stumbles around her wolf turn. Double pike is pretty open, but low again, hop back. Switch full is effortless and lovely. Double tuck, one of her better landings.

Adams VT: Clean FTY, tiny bounce.

8:01 pm. Trinity Thomas will start on vault, Kara Eaker on bars, Audrey Davis on beam, and Riley McCusker on floor.

8:00 pm. Athletes have marched out, the anthem has been sung, and IT’S TIME FOR THE TOUCH!

    • I’m honestly a little mad they didn’t have her get the surgery this year and just sit and rehab. I’m not saying this year doesn’t matter, but in the scheme of things, 2019 will be a little more important than 2018. My hope is that after this, she gets the surgery, rehabs in 2019 and then comes back like a freight train for 2020. After all her promise in 2016 and 2017, it’s so sad to see her like this.

  1. Why does NBC film Simone’s beam from the opposite side as everyone else? Normally the beam can has the black background and flag behind the gymnast, but for some reason only for Simone, they film so the entire arena is behind her. Very weird and distracting

  2. There are so many quite big gaps in the rankings tonight. Not just with Simone but in general, seems to be almost a point between a lot of placings

gymtruthteller kinda being a little harsher on simone. I am thinking they are both at fault. I do understand the emotions both had though. They did hug tonite so it’s good. I mean i am not sure how much still linger but i hope most of it are gone. I really do want them to be BFF though… it’s gonna be a long 2 yrs to tokyo if they are not…lol…

        • Something very few, if any, addressed during the whole kerfuffle is an aspect to ADHD called Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria. Seeking validation after feeling rejected is symptomatic of a milder form of RSD, which is unique to those living with ADHD and ADD. Taking to Twitter, as Simone did, is very likely a direct result of the emotional backlash. Does that excuse her choices? No. But it certainly makes it more understandable and deserving of empathy.

I’m thrilled to have seen both young women put the issue in the past and act like teammates tonight. And I think that additional opportunities to bond at camps will go a long way to forming the friendships we as fans like to see, and are healthy for the gymnasts.

        • I think plenty of blame of falls on both Simone and Morgan for their actions. Yes, Simone is technically an adult, but I know I didn’t make great decisions at 21/22, but since my college was one of only a few colleges with Facebook available for people at the time, there was no social media for me to run and shout it from the mountain tops.

However, the people I feel that are the most in the wrong are the ones who ran back to Simone and got her all riled up. One, we don’t know what they said to even get her so upset (and let’s face it, teens and YA are great at blowing things out of proportion). Two, they could’ve told a coach or had Morgan’s actions turned into USA Gymnastics and not caused their “friend” Simone anymore stress. There was no need to run to Simone and involve her in a careless teenager’s choices when adults should’ve been able to handle this with Morgan on their own without the whole gym community know about it.

  3. well, morgi got the athlete of the year award and riley the sports person of the year award. So that was good…. I would hate if they would have given that to simone. At least morgi and riley did get the acknowledgement. So now can we all be BFF and kick everyone else ass at worlds? 🙂

  5. I feel like Carey got good potential on bars and beam. Wondering how much more upgrade she can do on those two events and stay consistent with them.

    • They were laughing at Nastias “kind of a limp” and then Tim said said “no that’s a limp”. I don’t think they were laughing at the fact that Ragan limped off the podium, more Nastias word choice.
