2. You Hao, China, 15.133
3. Arthur Zanetti, Brazil, 14.966
4. Kazuya Takahashi, Japan, 14.600
5. Courtney Tulloch, Great Britain, 14.600
6. Igor Radivilov, Ukraine, 14.566
7. Ali Zahran, Egypt, 14.400
8. Ryan Oehrlein, Canada, 14.000

4:32 am. Ting Hua-Tien, Chinese Taipei, UB: Toe-on to blind change to straddle Jaeger, bail is a little wonky into a toe shoot, giant full goes SO far to the side, and just a layout dismount, the Liukin.

4:31 am. Courtney Tulloch, Great Britain, SR: What on earth is his first skill?! Planche, feet seem a little low, and then he arches over a handstand. Another planche, better this time, into a nice iron cross. Maltese, arms a little bent in his last handstand, and a big hop back on his full-twisting double layout.

4:30 am. Georgia-Rose Brown, Australia, UB: Toe full, nice lines, Chow to Pak, one foot is flexed but the rest of her Pak is BRILLIANT from this weird front-on angle. Maloney to Gienger, caught a little dead-hangy but good cover, barely has to muscle it, straddle Jaeger after that, and a hop back on her double front, just a bit cowboyed in the second flip. Good! I can never get over her lines.

4:28 am. Kazuya Takahashi, Japan, SR: Pike saltos to tucked saltos to iron cross, planche comes up REALLY high, but his handstands look good, whippy in his double double layout dismount.

4:26 am. Martina Rizzelli, Italy, UB: Ricna to Pak, legs glued. Maloney to bail toe full, gets stuck halfway through and has to come off. Back on to complete the toe full this time into a Ray back up to high, then a toe half to front giant half, and a super messy and slowly-rotated full-in but she somehow ekes out a pretty solid landing there.

4:24 am. You Hao, China, SR: Missed most of this, but my feed is back! Looked good from what I saw in the replay, just low on the dismount.

4:23 am. Fan Yilin, China, UB: In the absence of the feed working I’m going to a Twitter video. Looks like she caught her Pak and Maloney to Gienger, then inbar half to Ling to Healy into her Fan dismount with a little step back. She put her hands down on the dismount in prelims so this should be a big improvement in the score! 14.833 with a 6.3 D

4:20 am. Arthur Zanetti, Brazil, SR: Front pike saltos into a GORGEOUS maltese. Then a lovely transition to the iron cross. Handstand holds are MAYBE a little fast at parts, but overall this was very nice, and he stuck the dismount, but my feed shut off right as it happened so I couldn’t process what it was, looked laid-out? Full maybe?

Aaaaand my feed is gone completely 🙂 🙂 🙂

4:17 am. Jonna Adlerteg, Sweden, UB: Shang goes straight up into the air, EEEEEEEEK almost lands ON the high bar, no idea how she even got close to catching it. 😦 Gets her hands around but she’s way too close to have a prayer of holding on, fall. Gets back on for a Pak, then a shaposh to Bhardwaj, Maloney to clear hip full with some leg form breaks in the pirouette into a Tkachev, blind change to front giant half, and a huge double layout with a little scoot back.

4:12 am. Lyu Jiaqi, China, UB: Maloney to Pak to van Leeuwen, some leg sep on the Pak. Blind change to Ling to Healy to piked Jaeger, Ling half straight into a layout double full dismount, nice! Nothing majorly wrong there, just some little adjustments.

Igor Radivilov, Ukraine, SR: I wasn’t typing during this but it looked like he only had some minor things going on, nothing big.

4:10 am. Ryan Oehrlein, Canada, SR: Maltese, handstand after that falls over backwards and he pulls it back but then is pretty arched after that. Piked and tucked saltos into an iron cross, and I believe a double double dismount with a big hop.

4:09 am. Valeriia Osipova, Ukraine, UB: Inbar to Chow to Pak, not bad! A little late on a handstand before her stalder full to toe-on to Maloney to stalder half to Tkachev, busy little sequence there! Muscles a little out of the handstand after the release, and then is a little muscled throughout her pirouette at the end before her double pike dismount, but there’s a lot of good in there. 12.366

4:07 am. Liu Yang, China, SR: Piked saltos into iron cross, then pressed into a planche, nice. Tucks into the maltese to iron cross, a little shaky on the last handstand but just a tad, and a solid double double dismount with a little shuffle. 15.166

4:06 am. Romi Brown, Australia, UB: Toe full is a tiny bit late, a little short on the handstand before the stalder to Maloney to Pak, caught quite close with bent elbows on the latter. Toe shoot back to high, blind change to front giant to Markelov, a little crooked, stuck double tuck. Promising routine from her! Senior international debut from her. 12.500

4:03 am. Ali Zahran, Egypt, SR: Nice iron cross, some sway in his back when he’s in one of his handstands later in the routine, pikes down a bit on the full-twisting double layout dismount, little foot adjustment. 14.400

3:48 am. Men’s Pommels Final Results

1. Lee Chih-Kai, Chinese Taipei, 15.266
2. Weng Hao, China, 15.233
3. Tomomasa Hasegawa, Japan, 14.666
4. Thierry Pellerin, Canada, 13.700
5. Ferhat Arican, Turkey, 13.133
6. Bram Louwije, Netherlands, 12.766
7. Akim Mussayev, Kazakhstan, 12.700
8. Cyril Tommasone, France, 12.033

3:43 am. Ferhat Arican, Turkey, PH: Love his handstand pirouette transition down into the flairs. He’s just not super tight and his hip angle is a little off, also some little leg form breaks throughout, but good routine for him, right through to the dismount.

3:40 am. Weng Hao, China, PH: GOD his hand work on the single rail is SO fast and precise. Travels in flairs perfectly and then switches seamlessly to a straight body line, more quick hand work on the horse, loses his leg form a teeny tiny bit near the end, and then dismounts. Idk, I think Lee Chih-Kai has got it…but I love them both! I was right…but barely! 15.233

3:37 am. Akim Mussayev, Kazakhstan, PH: Lovely one-arm swing, single pommel work looks like it’s doing well, but then close to the end he loses his leg form, almost saves it, and then comes off. The rest goes well. Milad Karimi watching from the sidelines. 12.700

3:32 am. Cyril Tommasone, France, PH: A little jolted in some of his transitions, especially going up and down from handstand. Legs apart on a single-rail spin but transitions nicely down into flairs, legs are getting a little loose in their extension, and then he has a leg separation that he can’t get back under control and he comes off. Back on literally just for the dismount. 12.033

3:28 am. Lee Chih-Kai, Chinese Taipei, PH: Scissors down an a nice transition right into his flairs, his extension is bananas, changes to legs together for one second in his travels before going right back into flairs, smooth into the dismount. He’s a beautiful angel. 15.266

3:26 am. Tomomasa Hasegawa, Japan, PH: This should be a great one. Oens with some big flairs, excellent. Scissors up into a controlled and stady handstand, muscles arms in his handstand travels, and then he travels well in flairs, great pirouette at the end up into handstand, and he lands the dismount. Excellent! Really strong work. 14.666

3:21 am. Bram Louwije, Netherlands, PH: Really loved his one-arm swing, mostly okay overall, but similar to Pellerin, as he gets to the end he starts to lose steam and has some little breaks before horizontally dismounting. 12.766

3:18 am. Thierry Pellerin, Canada, PH: Oh god oh god oh god. I’m not ready for pommels. Okay he looks smooth so far, Magyar into a Russian!! I stole that from the commentator. Legs come apart as he begins traveling from one end to the other, and then he slows down a bit near the end with lots of leg separations, and he “dismounts” but not really, just kind of horizontally hops off. Is that a dismount? Was he meant to go into handstand? It seemed like a copout and not a dismount but I don’t know anything so. 13.7

2:59 am. Men’s Floor Final Results

1. Carlos Edriel Yulo, Philippines, 14.566
2. Hibiki Arayashiki, Japan, 14.500
3. Rayderley Zapata, Spain, 14.500
— Dominick Cunningham, Great Britain, 14.500
5. Kim Han-sol, South Korea, 14.200
6. Casimir Schmidt, Netherlands, 13.833
7. Christopher Remkes, Australia, 13.733
8. Ahmet Önder, Turkey, 13.166

Women’s Vault Final Results

1. Yeo Seojeong, South Korea, 14.266
2. Oksana Chusovitina, Uzbekistan, 14.200
3. Yu Linmin, China, 14.083
4. Alexa Moreno, Mexico, 14.066
5. Ayaka Sakaguchi, Japan, 13.833
6. Tjasa Kysselef, Slovenia, 13.833
7. Paula Mejias, Puerto Rico, 13.533
8. Asuka Ogawa, Japan, 12.962

2:51 am. Yeo Seojeong, South Korea, VT: Rudi, actually pretty nice in the air, just a bit piked throughout but not a ton. Runs out of it a bit with two big steps but as far as Rudis have gone in recent years, that was a pretty sweet one. DTY, oh nooooo she looks like she stung something on the landing…she looked mostly clean in the air, but the landing looked like it came as a bit of a surprise for her, and on the replay you can see that she’s pretty lock-legged.

2:48 am. Tjasa Kysselef, Slovenia, VT: Handspring front tuck full, leg form is a bit wonky, but she comes so perfectly straight off the table and lands right on the line with just a tiny hop, that part was excellent. Yurchenko 1.5, WOWWWWW STUCK IT COLD RIGHT ON THE LINE!!!!! Damn Tjasa!!! Some soft knees in that one and there’s not a TON of distance but she’d get a 10 at UCLA or Oklahoma for sure.

2:45 am. Yu Linmin, China, VT: DTY, some leg form especially in the second twist, a little bit uncontrolled on the landing, big step back to control it and she goes OOB. Lopez for her second vault, she’s done a Cheng before as a junior but based on this I’m glad she’s sticking to just the front layout half. A little bit piked, a little unstable on the landing, but nothing to rough.

2:43 am. Dominick Cunningham, Great Britain, FX: Double double layout stuck cold. Double front half-out with a tiny bounce. 1.5 to front double full is also pretty solid. Tucked double double, stuck! 2.5 to Rudi. Nailing it so far. Beautiful stuck triple full to finish, feet a bit apart but not bad at all. Excellent work. Oh, and…HE DESERVED A VAULT MEDAL IN DOHA.

2:40 am. Oksana Chusovitina, Uzbekistan, VT: Handspring front layout full, pretty much the way she always does it, a little piked, but aside from the pre-flight, her legs are actually pretty tight…maybe a little separated but she’s at least holding them in place hahaha. Hop on the landing. Second vault is the tsuk 1.5, EXCELLENT for her actually! Little bounce forward. Gets the rotation almost perfect as she comes in for the landing.

2:38 am. Christopher Remkes, Australia, FX: I love that he snuck into both finals in eighth place. I enjoy him a lot. Front double full to double front, little bounce, good! Laid-out triple double!! Pretty low, but doesn’t put his hands down. Piked double front got some good height, and he follows it up with a double double layout and a tucked double double, some form things but looks SO good on his control and landings, just little hops. Arabian double front with a step back, and then finishes with a full-twisting double layout AND PUTS HIS HAND DOOOOOOOOWN.

2:36 am. Carlos Edriel Yulo, Philippines, FX: Double front pike half-out, solid, then I didn’t pay close attention in the second pass but it was twisty…maybe finished with a Randi from what I could see? 3.5 to front half for the third I believe, and then a baby hop on his double full side pass. Stuck the front full to front double full, which was a little low and long, but had no problems covering it up well. Triple full, little bounce, chest a little down but it’s MAG so no one pays attention.

2:33 am. Paula Mejias, Puerto Rico, VT: Tsuk full, lands right down the middle and she’s the least piked of the tsuk fulls so far IIRC. Handspring front tuck full, pretty clean in the air, big step forward that crosses over. Overall the cleanest of the bunch.

2:30 am. Ahmet Önder, Turkey, FX: Full-twisting double layout, and then a front double full to front half I think but I kind of tuned out for a sec. Double double with a slide back with one foot, and then he goes into a 2.5 to front full, really nice there. 1.5 to Rudi for his side pass, little step, nooooo, full-in ends up super short and he stumbles forward and puts his hands down in his last pass. WHYYYYYYY do you ruin my life so much and so often, Ahmet?

2:28 am. Asuka Ogawa, Japan, VT: DTY, gets an okay block actually but doesn’t do what she needs to in the air, ends up pretty low and crunched, and then hops sideways off the mat. Poor gal. She’s 18 but this is also her international debut! She and Sakaguchi were the only two who showed up at the world cup trials in December to do vault so they kind of got automatic passes here. Second vault is a tsuk full, lots of form stuff to chat about, with the pike down especially severe, and a big step to the side OOB, but solid effort and it was at least better than her DTY.

2:25 am. Rayderley Zapata, Spain, FX: 1.5 to piked double front, stuck! Fab. Double front pike half, funny hurdle into it. Double front half-out, stuck with a little wobble in his arms. Full-in, clicks his heels together. Double full. Why have I never noticed his hurdle before?! It’s high-key hilarious. 2.5 to front full, pretty good, and he finishes with a double layout, almost stuck! Tiny little step.

2:23 am. Alexa Moreno, Mexico, VT: Handspring Rudi, a bit of a mess, but she missed it in qualifications and landed it here. Chest at her knees basically, step to the side and over the line slightly, legs in the air are pretty rough, and she’s piked a bit, but again…she hit I guess. Second vault, the tsuk full, is better in the air. Muuuch cleaner. Little hop on the landing.

2:21 am. Not sure why we only saw one of Ayaka’s vaults. Also, I haven’t seen any scores yet. Also PRETTY SURE WE’RE MISSING PART OF FLOOR RIGHT NOW, I CAN HEAR THE THUNDEROUS ROARS OF LANDINGS IN THE BACKGROUND. I don’t like thiiiiiiis!!

Kim Han-sol, South Korea, FX: We watched Moreno stand still for seven hours and then we cut to the landing of Kim’s last pass, a hop on his triple full.

2:20 am. Ayaka Sakaguchi, Japan, VT: Weird that they’re doing two men then going to the women? Tsuk full landed dead center with a little hop back. Not bad! She’s in her second year as a senior but this is her senior international debut. Oh, did we not see one of her vaults?! What is this broadcast.

2:17 pm. Hibiki Arayashiki, Japan, FX: Also starts with a double front half-out, then a Randi from the side of the floor. Front double full to front full is pretty good, 2.5 to Rudi is as well. Clean double full side pass. Really gorgeous stuck triple full two finish! Wee Kenzo vibes over here.

2:13 pm. Casimir Schmidt, Netherlands, FX: Opens with a double front half, and then has a little hop forward on his piked double front. Front double full to double front, gets it around but is quite low and has a little stumble back, and then goes into a 2.5 to front half. PHEW. Full-in after that, I believe, and then a triple full, opens up really nice and landed brilliantly. Excellent routine! Really just that third pass that was *problematic* but in the replay it doesn’t even really look all that bad!

2:10 am. This is my first time live blogging MAG since worlds so IT’S ABOUT TO GET WEIRD. I already feel like I forgot every skill on high bar. I seriously have to re-teach myself what all of the Kovacs variations are called whenever there’s a new meet. BUT HEY, high bar isn’t until tomorrow. For now let’s see if my eyes can keep up with whatever happens on floor, and if I even know what a pommel horse is.

Anyway, tonight is all about men’s floor, women’s vault, pommel horse, uneven bars, and rings. Should be a good one!

Athletes are marching out now!
