We’ve somehow made it to the last week of “normal” competition in NCAA gymnastics, and what a season it’s been! With conference championships held next weekend, this week will mostly be a way for teams to step back, refocus, and prepare to end the regular season on a strong note, especially with regional seeding taking place at the conclusion of the conference meets, but there are still a number of big moments to keep an eye on beginning tonight.
The biggest isn’t a hugely competitive meet, but in spirit, it’s going to be the meet of the week because it’s Miss Val’s final meet at Pauley Pavilion, so you know UCLA is somehow going to surpass a 200 on Saturday when the number two team faces off against Utah State (No. 41). A ton of alums are flying in from all over the world to honor their former coach at this meet, and after earning a season-best 198.325 last week, the currently competing Bruins are ready to give it their all to send Miss Val off on a high note.
In terms of being the most exciting due to actual gymnastics, I’m here for Utah (No. 6) at Georgia (No. 8). As two of the most legendary NCAA programs in history, I’ve always enjoyed when they cross conferences to meet up in the regular season, and I fully expect this to be a blowout, especially as both programs have recently dropped in the rankings and are looking to regain some ground before the end of the season.
Top-ranked Oklahoma competed on Monday with a solid but low-key win, and they’ll hit the floor a second time tonight, hosting Alabama (No. 11). LSU (No. 4) also competes tonight, at Arizona (No. 31), and Denver (No. 5) will go on the road to conference rival Iowa State (No. 26), while fellow top-five program Florida (No. 3) has the week off.
I’m also excited to see Big Ten rivals Michigan (No. 7) and Minnesota (No. 9) compete against each other at a Missouri (No. 19) quad meet that will also feature top-ranked Division III program Centenary (No. 67), and Kentucky (No. 9) will also travel for a quad meet this weekend, meeting up with Boise State (No. 13) and Illinois State (No. 56) at Nebraska (No. 18).
The full schedule for week ten is below. All times listed are ET, the first team listed is the host team, and we’ll update any links as they are updated on each program’s schedule. Once the meet is finished, we’ll add the results. Enjoy!
