10:02 pm. Yul Moldauer HB: One-arm front pirouette, good, oof, then his hand peeled into the Yamawaki, couldn’t go for it but somehow stays on the bar. Tries again and gets it. Kolman, ALMOST didn’t catch. Shocking he did! Piked Tkachev, straddle Tkachev was super low and super far, hit his feet on the bar on a circle skill, hop full, one-arm giant, full-twisting double layout with a step back. 11.400 (5.1, 6.300)

Cole Partridge SR: 12.500 (4.4, 8.100)

James Friedman HB: 12.800 (4.1, 8.700)

10:01 pm. They’re doing an inquiry on Asher Hong’s D, but I’m still like…what was going on with the E?

Noah Newfeld HB: 12.150 (4.1, 8.050)

9:53 pm. Asher Hong PH: SUPER aggressive on his flairs! Transitions nicely out of them, onto the single handle, then travels in flairs, transitions great again, some leg form into the dismount but zero problems into it. YES! Long wait for the score. 12.949 (6.0, 6.600, +0.349 bonus) – I honestly have NO idea what was missing in terms of execution??

Michael Artlip FX: 12.700 (5.1, 7.600)

Jeremy Bischoff SR: 12.650 (5.1, 7.550)

9:49 pm. Ian Lasic-Ellis PB: Really short on a handstand and then just kind of circles through the next one without holding at all. A few adjustments as well. Hit the double front dismount with a hop. 13.300 (5.6, 7.700)

Michael Jaroh FX: 11.200 (4.9, 6.300)

Jack Freeman VT: 13.950 (4.8, 9.150)

9:38 pm. Raydel Gamboa SR: Planche, angle isn’t correct, leg angle is down. Saltos are a little jerky, to a pike hold, pressed to handstand. Double double with a hop back.

Michael Artlip HB: 10.100 (5.0, 5.100)

Matt Cormier HB: 12.950 (4.8, 8.150)

Cole Partridge PH: 9.500 (4.0, 5.500)

Kazuki Hayashi HB: 11.250 (4.8, 6.450)

9:34 pm. Vitaliy Guimaraes SR: Really good extension yet again, and he’s super clean. Started to come down in handstand near the end but fought back up, then came close to sticking a double double! Difficulty isn’t there but he’s mostly fabulous in E. 13.600 (4.6, 9.000)

Riley Loos VT: I think he did a handspring randi? 14.747 (5.6, 8.550, +0.597 bonus)

Mathew Davis PB: 11.700 (4.8, 6.900)

9:30 pm. Curran Phillips VT: Yurchenko 2.5, nice in the air, huge hop forward but very nice overall! 14.700 (5.2, 9.500)

Fred Richard PH: 12.250 (5.3, 6.950)

Jack Freeman SR: 12.800 (4.4, 8.400)

Ignacio Yockers FX: 11.750 (4.8, 6.950)

Zachary Nunez SR: 12.950 (4.7, 8.250)

Caleb Melton FX: 11.750 (5.5, 6.250)

Jeremy Bischoff PH: 11.950 (5.0, 6.950)

9:25 pm. Yul Moldauer PB: I wasn’t typing at the beginning but he hit a salto, had a lovely transition after that. Arched a bit coming out of a pirouette and then struggled through the next two handstands with huge arches as well. Front half salto, double front half. 15.543 (6.6, 7.950, +0.993 bonus)

Isaiah Drake PH: 12.700 (5.0, 7.700)

Colin Van Wicklen SR: 13.300 (%.1, 8.200)

Robert Neff PB: 12.700 (5.0, 7.700)

Michael Jaroh HB: 13.650 (5.1, 8.550)

9:22 pm. Asher Hong FX: Huuuuuuge gorgeous front full to piked double front! Double-twisting double layout, a little hop. Front tuck full to double front. Flairs to split to press handstand, good. 2.5 to front layout, stuck. Triple full with a big step to the side to steady himself. 14.029 (6.0, 7.800, +0.229 bonus)

Blake Sun PH: 13.100 (5.1, 8.000)

Mike Fletcher SR: 12.900 (4.5, 8.400)

Landen Blixt HB: 12.600 (4.3, 8.300)

9:16 pm. ROTATION 4 STANDINGS

1. Asher Hong 56.051
2. Vitaliy Guimaraes 55.900
3. Yul Moldauer 54.705
4. Khoi Young 54.542
5. Ian Lasic-Ellis 54.200
6. Michael Jaroh 53.650
7. Isaiah Drake 53.200
8. Ian Gunther 53.100

9:15 pm. Cole Partridge FX: Whip to full-in, small hop. Double double is REALLY short and deep and looked like he crunched his ankles/shins, ow. 2.5 to front tuck. Front layout full side pass. Triple full also pretty short and underrotated, step forward. 12.050 (4.9, 7.150)

9:14 pm. Riley Loos SR: Wasn’t typing throughout but mostly strong work, just a few awkward handstands, and dismount could be tighter. 13.600 (5.6, 8.000)

Evan Hymanson FX: 11.500 (5.5, 6.300, -0.3)

9:11 pm. Vitaliy Guimaraes PH: Scissors with great extension at the beginning. Transitions well into his circles, everything looks very good! No problems into the dismount, one of the better routines so far…the best I’ve seen tonight, anyway! 14.350. (5.2, 9.150)

Nicolas Kuebler FX: 12.150 (5.7, 150)

Ian Gunther SR: 13.500 (5.4, 8.100)

Matt Cormier PB: 11.050 (4.6, 6.450)

9:09 pm. Fuzzy Benas PH: Lots of little things throughout but he’s covering up well and fighting through. Another big dismount problem…kinda straddles as he tries to go to handstand and doesn’t quite make it up. 11.800 (4.5, 7.300)

9:07 pm. Jack Freeman PH: Hit routine! Stayed pretty clean throughout, legs broke a bit at the dismount and he muscled through to handstand but got it in the end. 11.200 (3.4, 7.800)

Garrett Braunton PB: 13.150 (5.1, 8.050)

Khoi Young SR: 12.550 (4.6, 7.950)

Caleb Melto HB: 12.000 (4.1, 7.900)

9:06 pm. Yul Moldauer VT: Just does the kaz double instead of the 2.5, hops out of it OOB. Weird day for him. 13.400 (4.8, 8.700, -0.1)

Jeremy Bischoff FX: 12.550 (5.5, 7.050)

Zachary Nunez PH: 13.600 (4.9, 8.700)

Ian Lasic-Ellis SR: 13.750 (5.0, 8.750)

Noah Newfeld VT: 13.500 (4.0, 9.500)

9:01 pm. Asher Hong HB: Kolman, caught it at his elbows but got it! Kovacs then goes super far and he doesn’t catch it. Layout Tkachev is pretty piked actually, again goes way far over and doesn’t grab. Back on for German giants and some circle elements, double double layout is good. 10.450 (5.0, 5.450)

Isaiah Drake FX: 13.150 (5.4, 7.750)

Colin Van Wicklen PH: 11.700 (4.6, 7.100)

Colt Walker SR: 13.050 (4.8, 8.250)

Robert Neff VT: 14.250 (5.2, 9.050)

Evan Davis VT: 14.100 (4.8, 9.300)

Mathew Davis VT: 13.800 (4.8, 9.000)

Michael Jaroh PB: 14.100 (4.8, 9.300)

8:59 pm. Alex Diab VT: Handspring double front, right to his butt unfortunately. Actually, heels did touch first, but not a prayer of saving it. 13.000 (5.2, 7.800)

Toby Liang FX: 12.550 (5.0, 7.550)

Taylor Burkhart SR: 12.950 (4.9, 8.050)

Mike Fletcher PH: 13.350 (4.8, 8.550)

Kazuki Hayashi PB: 12.750 (5.0, 7.750)

Landen Blixt PB: 12.400 (4.5, 7.900)

Ignacio Yockers HB: 11.400 (4.4, 7.000)

8:58 pm. Raydel Gamboa PH: I jumped in late to this one but it looked like he had everything UNTIL the dismount, bent his elbows in the turn and had to kind of force it around. Looked like he didn’t really get it to handstand at all. Based on his score, doesn’t look like they gave him the dismount. 11.850 (4.1, 7.750)

James Friedman VT: 13.250 (4.8, 8.450)

8:57 pm. Wrapping up warmups for the fourth rotation!

4. Yul Moldauer 41.305
5. Raydel Gamboa 40.950
6. Ian Lasic-Ellis 40.450
7. Colin Van Wicklen 40.300
8. Isaiah Drake 40.050

8:50 pm. Fuzzy Benas FX: Double double, great landing. Double front a tad low but good landing again in terms of his feet. Full-twisting double back, then a double full down the side. Front double full to barani, then a 2.5 to front tuck full, iffy on that landing. Triple full SOARED, great landing. 13.200 (5.4, 7.800)

Nicolas Kuebler HB: 13.150 (4.5, 8.650)

Evan Hymanson HB: 12.750 (5.1, 7.650)

8:48 pm. Jack Freeman FX: I missed a lot of this but think he got all of his lines down from what I did see…last pass was a triple full with a significant hop forward, and his chest way down. But really clean in the air. 13.250 (5.4, 7.850)

8:46 pm. Alex Diab SR: Inverted cross was waaay off, very weird. Also had a weird dismount, looked like he just did a full-twist? Then stumbled back out of it. 14.445 (6.2, 7.350, -0.895 bonus)

Evan Davis SR: 13.200 (4.7, 8.500)

Michael Artlip VT: 14.000 (5.2, 8.900, -0.1)

Isaiah Drake HB: 12.950 (4.6, 8.350)

Fred Richard HB: 11.650 (5.1, 6.550)

Zachary Nunez FX: 12.600 (5.2, 7.400)

Mathew Davis SR: 12.850 (4.3, 8.550)

8:44 pm. Ian Gunther PH: Scissors to handstand came up pretty short. One-arm swing on the single handle, first one was good, second one was a little iffy but he worked through it. The rest was good! 13.200 (5.7, 7.500)

Colin Van Wicklen FX: 13.450 (5.3, 8.150)

8:41 pm. Yul Moldauer SR: Shaking a bit in his first handstand, opens up into the maltese, a little arched in the invert hang, up to maltese, rolls through to iron cross, all ov his inverted hangs are super arched? Saltos through to iron cross. Arched in a handstand near the end, then a good double double dismount, tucked…tiny hop. 14.116 (5.9, 7.850, +0.366)

Mike Fletcher FX: 12.400 (5.2, 7.200)

Khoi Young PH: 15.342!!! (6.2, 8.500, +0.642 bonus)

8:40 pm. Ian Lasic-Ellis PH: 13.500 (4.9, 8.600)

Garrett Braunton VT: 12.200 (4.4, 7.800)

8:38 pm. Asher Hong PB: Muscled up a handstand out of a basket early on, big Bhavsar, Tippelt was nicely controlled, Makuts was very nice, short on a handstand out of a transition but no problem covering it up. Double front half, great landing. 14.355 (6.0, 8.250, +0.105 bonus)

Landen Blixt VT: 14.150 (4.8, 9.350)

Cole Partridge HB: 11.850 (4.9, 6.950)

James Friedman SR: 12.100 (4.2, 7.900)

Michael Jaroh VT: 13.350 (5.2, 8.150)

Ignacio Yockers PB: 11.950. (4.3, 7.650)

8:35 pm. Raydel Gamboa FX: Randi with a little bounce. Front full to double front. I think after that it was a tucked full-out. Layout full side pass. 1.5 to tucked front full. 2.5 with a hop forward at the end. 13.450 (5.2, 8.250)

Riley Loos PH: 13.600 (5.3, 8.300)

Taylor Burkhart PH: 13.600 (5.0, 8.600)

8:33 pm. Vitaliy Guimaraes FX: Front double full to punch front, tiniest hop. Double double, kind of rotated slowly but got it around. Arabian double front half, great landing. 2.5 side pass, super clean! Flairs, into a split, presses to handstand. 1.5 to front full. Triple full, clean with a tiny hop back. Fab routine! 14.250 (5.5, 8.750)

Matt Cormier VT: 14.200 (5.2, 9.000)

Noah Newfeld SR: 12.100 (4.6, 7.500)

Kazuki Hayashi VT: 14.600 5.2, 9.400)

Caleb Melton PB: 11.500 (4.7, 6.800)

8:32 pm. Should be getting into rotation three shortly!

8:28 pm. ROTATION 2 STANDINGS

1. Asher Hong 31.246
2. Raydel Gamboa 27.500
3. Vitaliy Guimaraes 27.300
4. Yul Moldauer 27.189
5. Isaiah Drake 27.100
6. Jeremy Bischoff 26.950
7. Ian Lasic-Ellis 26.950
8. Colin Van Wicklen 26.850

8:26 pm. Nicolas Kuebler PB: Was a little off on something at the start of the routine, got a front half salto, some adjusting with his hands on a handstand after, crooked out of a one-arm pirouette, double front with a small hop.

8:24 pm. Fred Richard PB: Eeek, hand slipped out of his transition to the single rail, stayed on but onto his arms. Bhavsar, Tippelt, arched a bit. Nice one-arm pirouette. Double front tuck with a small hop.

8:22 pm. Evan Davis PH: 11.350 (5.0, 6.350)

Isaiah Drake PB: 12.850 (5.2, 7.650)

Jeremy Bischoff PB: 13.050 (5.6, 7.450)

Jack Freeman HB: 13.350 (5.5, 7.850)

8:20 pm. Khoi Young FX: Randi, pretty solid. Front full to double front. Good! Double double, chest down and tried to fight for the stick. Double full down the side. 2.5 to front layout, comes short into the punch but lands it on his heels, a little iffy on the triple full with a hop back. 13.550 (5.7, 7.850)

8:19 pm. Zachary Nunez HB: One-arm front giant, piked Tkachev, meant to be a layout I’m sure, straddle Tkachev, stalder, inbar, blind change to Endo, tak was excellent, full-twisting double layout, “stuck” with a little sway of the arms. 13.150 (4.5, 8.650)

8:18 pm. Colt Walker FX: 12.450 (5.8, 6.650)

Garrett Braunton SR: 12.950 (4.6, 8.350)

Colin Van Wicklen HB: 13.150 (5.6, 7.550)

Ian Lasic-Ellis FX: 13.650 (5.7, 7.950)

8:15 pm. Robert Neff PH: Had a fall early in his routine. 12.150 (5.1, 7.050)

Blake Sun PB: Beautiful handstand out of his first basket, adjusted his hands in a handstand out of another basket, and then he fell over in handstand and kind of flew off the side of the apparatus, looked like a basket going into a single-rail handstand but he couldn’t get to handstand and just slipped/flew. Thankfully he’s okay. Got the skill the second time but then fell out of a handstand onto his armpits. Ugh. Bummer of a routine. Gets a salto half near the end, then a straddle salto, stuck the double pike a bit low. 11.400 (5.7, 5.700)

8:14 pm. Taylor Burkhart FX: 13.200 (5.7, 7.500)

Landen Blixt SR: 11.850 (4.1, 7.750)

Michael Jaroh SR: 13.500 (5.0, 8.500)

Mike Fletcher HB: 12.500 (4.5, 8.000)

8:11 pm. Yul Moldauer PH: Everything started out super well, he debuted a new skill for him on the single handle and made it look clean and easy, and his flairs were excellent, great extension. Unfortunately he couldn’t keep up with his rhythm as he was getting close to the end and he was fighting to stay on during a flair element…though he ultimately lost that fight as he transitioned out of it, literally one skill before the dismount. UGH. 13.789 (6.1, 7.200, +0.489 bonus)

8:10 pm. Riley Loos FX: 12.700 (5.8, 6.900)

Ignacio Yockers VT: 13.600 (4.8, 8.800)

Cole Partridge PB: 13.100 (4.8, 8.300)

Toby Liang PB: 10.600 (4.7, 5.900)

8:09 pm. Raydel Gamboa HB: Kolman, layout Tkachev, straddle Tkachev, hop full, short out of the Rybalko, Endo, double double layout with a tiny hop. Very nice work! 13.450 (5.0, 8.450)

8:08 pm. Ian Gunther FX: 13.150 (4.9, 8.250)

Noah Newfeld PH: 13.050 (5.1, 7.950)

James Friedman PH: 12.850 (4.7, 8.150)

Matt Cormier SR: 13.500 (4.7, 8.800)

Kazuki Hayashi SR: 12.250 (4.3, 7.950)

8:06 pm. Vitaliy Guimaraes HB: Yamawaki to stalder, clean straddle Tkachev, nice air, inbar to stalder, doesn’t do much in terms of front circles, I think he just did a blind change and then went right back to back circles, hop full, stuck the tucked double double dismount, flared out so nicely. 13.400 (4.5, 8.900)

8:05 pm. Mathew Davis PH: 12.550 (3.8, 8.750)

Michael Artlip SR: 13.050 (4.2, 8.850)

Caleb Melton VT: 12.900 (5.2, 7.800, -0.1)

Evan Hymanson PB: 11.750 (5.1, 6.650)

Fuzzy Benas HB: 12.950 (5.4, 7.550)

8:03 pm. Asher Hong VT: Does the kaz 2.5, aka 3.5 twists!! He debuted this at this meet last year, as a junior. Leg form in pre-flight and crosses his legs to get it around. Tbh I think he landed it a bit short in rotation, like it was pretty close to being a kaz double…but I’m sure they’ll give it to him. I think he gets one billion bonus points for this vault under the new system. 16.680 (6.0, 8.900, + 1.78 in bonus)

8:02 pm. Rotation 2 beginning shortly!

7:57 pm. ROTATION 1 STANDINGS

8. Curran Phillips 13.757

7:56 pm. Robert Neff FX: 2.5 to front layout, hops forward into the corner. Randi with a small hop. 3.5, a little wild coming out of it, hop to the side. 1.5 to rudi I think after his strength stuff. Triple full, chest forward and a hop forward.

7:55 pm. Zachary Nunez PB: 13.400 (4.8, 8.600)

Curran Phillips HB: 13.757 (5.7, 7.950)

7:52 pm. Yul Moldauer FX: Randi to start, lands it awkwardly and has to hop out of it. 3.5 with a step forward to the side, looked like he was still rotating. Arabian double front half-out was good! Flairs are strong. 2.5 to barani, nice. Looks like he’s calmed down since the first two. Double full, solid. Triple full, a hair short with a hop to the side. 13.400 (5.4, 8.000)

7:49 pm. Alex Diab FX: Front layout full to double front, hop back. Randi goes a bit low and long, steps to control it. Double layout, some split legs and some arch. 2.5 to punch front. Clean double full. Triple is pretty low, but he gets it around with a step. Leg form, too. 13.550 (5.7, 7.850)

Michael Jaroh PH: 12.700. (4.4, 8.300)

Colin Van Wicklen PB: 13.700 (5.4, 8.300)

Ian Lasic-Ellis HB: 13.300 (4.9, 8.400)

Caleb Melton SR: 12.050 (4.2, 7.850)

Mike Fletcher PB: 13.150 (5.0, 8.150)

Landen Blixt PH: 11.350 (5.1, 6.550, -0.3)

7:47 pm. Colt Walker HB: Huge Yamawaki, excellent Kolman, layout Tkachev was a little close and tight, straddle Tkachev, one-armed giant, tak full comes out a little arched and short, double double layout with a big hop forward on one foot. 13.100 (5.0, 8.100)

7:46 pm. Mathew Davis FX: 13.400 (5.4, 8.100, -0.1)

Kazuki Hayashi PH: 9.600 (4.0, 5.600)

Jeremy Bischoff VT: 13.900 (4.8, 9.100)

Fred Richard VT: 13.900 (5.2, 8.800, -0.1)

Raydel Gamboa PB: 14.050 (4.7, 9.350)

7:44 pm. Taylor Burkhart HB: Full-twisting Yamawaki, to stalder. That first release was pretty rough but I love it. Yamawaki, straddle Tkachev to piked Tkachev, Def, double double layout with his chest down and a hop. LOVE this routine but he needs to figure out his rhythm and not rush. And clean up. 12.700 (5.4, 7.300)

7:43 pm. Matt Cormier PH: 12.100 (4.2, 7.900)

Isaiah Drake VT: 14.250 (5.2, 9.050)

Ian Gunther HB: 13.250 (4.8, 8.450)

Fuzzy Benas PB: 13.750 (5.3, 8.450)

Vitaliy Guimaraes PB: 13.900 (4.7, 9.200)

7:41 pm. Riley Loos HB: Yamawaki, layout Tkachev, body position is off and elbows a little bent as he circles out of it, Tkachev, looked like he hit his foot on the bar between the Endo and the tak half, and then comes up super short on a handstand. Full-twisting double layout is a bit short, big lunge forward with his chest down. 12.300 (4.8, 7.500)

Michael Artlip PH: 11.500 (4.7, 6.800)

Ignacio Yockers SR: 11.450 (4.0, 7.450)

Evan Hymanson VT: 13.200 (4.8, 8.400)

Cole Partridge VT: 13.250 (4.8, 8.550, -0.1)

Toby Liang VT: 14.000 (4.8, 9.300, -0.1)

7:39 pm. Asher Hong SR: Iron cross, holds it beautifully, invert pike, swings through to maltese, invert pike to maltese, invert pike up to his double tuck to inverted cross, then double pike to handstand, shaking a bit there. Handstand angle is weird on camera so it’s hard to tell, but he holds it maybe a little short, then a double double layout with a small hop. 14.566 (5.9, 8.300)

7:38 pm. Nicolas Kuebler VT: 13.450 (4.8, 8.650)

Evan Davis FX: 13.350 (5.3, 8.050)

Garrett Braunton PH: 12.900 (4.9, 8.000)

7:37 pm. I’m watching on the stream, by the way, not in the arena. Traveling to Texas in an ice storm was not my cup of tea. I’ll post scores for routines we don’t see!

7:35 pm. Khoi Young HB: I haven’t live blogged in months so apologies in advance if I’m like what’s happening?! Yamawaki, Tkachev, tak came out pretty late, Endo, stalder, full-twisting double layout was deep but stuck. 13.100 (4.4, 8.700)

7:34 pm. Just went through intros and now it’s the first rotation warmup. Moldauer starts on floor, Hong on rings. Should be back shortly!

7:30 pm. So excited for the men’s competition tonight! 2020 Olympian Yul Moldauer comes back as the veteran facing off in the all-around against first-year senior Asher Hong. Hong beat Moldauer 85.700 to 83.000 at the Houston National Invitational in January, and then two weeks ago, Moldauer got back at him, beating Hong 85.300 to a close 85.000 at the Liukin Invitational. Really hoping for a close, exciting meet between these two, in addition to some other fabulous guys in the mix.

You can watch now on the Olympic Channel, and start lists and live scores are on MyUSAGym.
