1:14 pm. High Bar Final Standings

1. Carlo Macchini 14.500
2. Lorenzo Bonicelli 14.000
3. Nicolò Mozzato 13.900
4. Ivan Brunello 13.800
5. Mario Macchiati 13.600
– Lorenzo Galli 13.600
7. Yumin Abbadini 12.900
8. Paolo Principi 12.150

1:12 pm. Lorenzo Galli HB: Tak half, Kolman, loses his leg form before catching, connects straddle and piked Tkachevs, layout Tkachev, hop full, stalder, blind change to Tak, opened well to vertical, half turn before his giants to full-twisting double layout dismount, little steps back. 13.600 (5.4, 8.200)

1:09 pm. Mario Macchiati HB: Huge Yamawaki, Tak half was a bit late, inbar stalder, one-arm giant, Tak, pretty good in the vertical, front endo stalder, Zou Li Min, stuck the double-twisting double layout dismount! 13.600 (5.0, 8.600)

1:07 pm. Paolo Prinicip HB: Wanstrom, couldn’t get a full pirouette to handstand, tried to push up into handstand but had to take an extra swing, straddle hecht, hit the dismount. 12.150 (4.7, 7.450)

1:04 pm. Lorenzo Bonicelli HB: Front inbar stalder, Tak half, a little short, Liukin, some leg form, connects to an Endo half, nice! Inbar stalder, layout Tkachev to straddle Tkachev, some leg form when he catches the latter, Zou Li Min, Tak finished nicely, full-twisting double layout with a step back. 14.000 (5.6, 8.400)

1:02 pm. Should finish the touch for the second half shortly!

12:59 pm. Ivan Brunello HB: Front inbar, Tak half, layout Tkachev, some flex in his feet, big straddle Tkachev connected to a piked Tkachev, inbar, blind change to front giant to Tak, L grip work before a half turn, double double layout dismount with a step back. 13.800 (5.4, 8.400)

12:56 pm. Yumin Abbadini HB: Endo to start, turns around for the giants into a huge gorgeous Cassina, Kolman is also great, but he unfortunately slips off on the stalder Tkachev. That’s a bummer, especially after his fall on pommels earlier. Hits everything after remounting, mostly just circle elements, and he sticks the double-twisting double layout dismount, made it look easy. 12.900 (5.3, 7.600)

12:52 pm. Nicolò Mozzato HB: Huge Yamawaki. Also huuuuge layout Tkachev to straddle Tkachev! Piked Tkachev too. Blind change to Zou Li Min, Tak half, inbar stalder, stalder, and a double double layout dismount, flared and stuck! Okay, this was GORGEOUS. 13.900 (5.2, 8.700)

12:50 pm. Carlo Macchini HB: Pegan, layout/piked Kovacs, Kolman, some leg form on all of those but not bad, stalder Rybalko, Zou Li Min, Tak full finishes in horizontal, Tak half, stalder, hop full, full-twisting double layout with a great landing! 14.500 (6.2, 8.300)

12:47 pm. Touch underway for the final event today, high bar!

– Nicolò Mozzato 14.100
7. Tommaso de Vecchis 14.050
8. Andrea Russo 12.450
9. Manrique Larduet 12.100

12:41 pm. Nicolò Mozzato PB: Short on the first cast to handstand, Makuts was well-done, Healy out got a bit arched, Tippelt was clean and fluid, good on the dismount.

12:38 pm. Lorenzo Bonicelli PB: I missed the beginning, looked like he brought something that started to go wild back under control. Tippelt was really clean and fluid. Pirouette out was nice, half pirouette was a little iffy, Diamidov finished well, and a double pike with a hop back. 14.100 (5.7, 8.400)

12:36 pm. Irene Lanza FX: 1.5 to front full, hop forward. Whip to double tuck, small hop. Had some strung work in her jumps. Clean tour jeté half at the end. 13.150

12:33 pm. Mario Macchiati PB: Cast to handstand was nice at the beginning, full pirouette using the single rail was a bit rushed and he had to walk his hands out of it finishing a bit crooked, cleans up a little on the next couple of pirouettes, Diamidov and Diamidov with a half turn, half turn, and a dobule front dismount, stuck cold! 14.650 (5.8, 8.850)

12:31 pm. Carolina James FX: Popa at the start. Full-in, lands hard with a super hard fall forward onto her hands. Kind of half-heartedly goes into the choreo after, it almost looked like she forgot what she was doing, or was in pain and not really feeling it (her hands hit the mat HARD). But she brings it back eventually, switch ring, double spin, split ring leap, tour jeté half, deep landing there. 1.5 to front layout, hop forward. yeah, she’s shaking her hands out at the end, that definitely did not feel good. 11.200 (4.3, 6.900)

12:29 pm. Tommaso de Vecchis PB: Nice Healy at the start, works well on transitions between bars, barani done nicely, cast to handstand clean after as well, half turn arched over a bit, pike sit, presses to handstand, hit the dismount, this was a nice routine. 14.050 (5.5, 8.550)

12:27 pm. Alessia Guicciardi FX: Double wolf turn, a little rushed. Full-in, really low on the landing, looked OOB, big step forward. Front full to front full, little step on the landing. Switch ring to switch side half. Her choreo is not great but she’s doing what she can with it. Whip to double tuck with a step back. 12.500 (5.1, 7.400)

12:25 pm. Matteo Levantesi PB: Everything at the beginning looked nice, one-arm pirouette was lovely but maybe a little shy of hitting handstand, Bhavsar, Diamidov, hops to a half pirouette, tuck half salto, dobule pike dismount, stuck COLD, okay! 14.600 (5.8, 8.800)

12:22 pm. Eleonora Calaciura FX: Double wolf turn at the beginning was nice. Good enough on the double pike, could be a little tighter in her knee form but not bad. Front double full with a hop forward. Hit the last pass well. Lovely work. 13.400 (5.0, 8.400)

12:18 pm. Manrique Larduet PB: Walks a little out of the first handstand, and then cuts the next short and has a bobble on a rushed pirouette. Just needs to breathe for a sec. Huge straddle salto. Oof, landed the Bhardwaj like, on the bars with his feet, that was wild. He was laughing while catching haha. Tippelt is excellent. One-arm half pirouette out, and a double front dismount, twist was off in the air, think it was supposed to be a half but he kind of does a full! But sits it. 12.100 (5.9, 6.200)

12:15 pm. Desiree Carofiglio FX: Front layout to super clean double front, low on the landing but bounces right up out of it. 1.5 to front pike to stag, lost some control throughout that pass but the stag jump helped cover it up a bit. Split jump full was good. Switch ring to tour jeté half. Some good work in her turns at the end. 12.600 (4.7, 7.900)

12:13 pm. Lorenzo Casali PB: Couldn’t type for this one but what I saw was hit! 14.200 (5.8, 8.400)

12:11 pm. Caterina Vitale FX: Full-in, a little short, hop forward. Think this was actually more like a half-in half-out. hit the leap series well. Double tuck at the end was wild and bounced off the floor mat entirely. 11.950 (4.5, 7.750, -0.3 ND)

12:09 pm. Marco Sarrugerio PB: Giant to the single rail, pirouette out to handstand went well, Bhavsar went well, Tippelt, slight hand adjustments, giant half, pike sit pressed to handstand, and gives the bars a little bounce before his double pike, a little low with a step forward but this was pretty good overall. 14.100 (5.8, 8.300)

12:06 pm. Veronica Mandriota FX: Love her choreo and expression at the beginning. Triple wolf turn. 1.5 to front full, pretty clean in the air, small hop forward. Double full, some ankle form but a great landing. Switch ring was lovely, through to switch half. Memmel to double spin, double pike, chest a bit low there, and a triple spin before finishing up. Simply lovely work. 13.300 (5.1, 8.200)

12:04 pm. Andrea Russo PB: Makuts was a little messy and he REALLY had to muscle it to handstand, though got there eventually. One-arm pirouette out. Front pike to handstand also was REALLY muscled. Diamidov, not super exact in how he finishes it, front half, and a double pike with a hop back. 12.450 (5.2, 7.250)

12:03 pm. July Marano FX: I missed the very beginning, caught it from the 1.5 to front full, had some strong leaps after. Double tuck was clean with a super solid landing. Illusion turn in combo was nice. Double pike, a little buckled, big lunge back OOB. 12.550 (5.5, 7.250, -0.2 ND)

11:59 am. Athletes marching in for p-bars and women’s floor!

11:54 am. Arianna Grillo BB: Switch leap mount. Side aerial, little step. Bhs bhs loso, little check, but controls it. Cat leap to switch leap. Back roll to handstand, no problems for her. Big punch front, deep landing, step forward. Cross straddle jump. Double tuck, tiny hop forward. 13.200 (5.1, 8.100)

11:50 am. Alessia Guicciardi BB: Front aerial to split jump, nice. Bhs bhs loso, REALLY nice! So solid. Double wolf turn, then wildly comes off on a back roll to handstand, oof. Hit the jump series. Side aerial. 1.5 dismount with a hop forward. 11.700 (4.9, 6.800)

11:48 am. Tommaso Brugnami VT: I missed his first vault, I think I heard Yurchenko on the stream when I was in the other room lol. 13.800 (5.2, 8.600)

Second vault is a kaz full, lovely and stuck! 14.200 (4.8, 9.400)

14.000 average

11:45 am. Eleonora Calaciura BB: Nice leap series to back handspring and front aerial to split jump. Side aerial loso, some leg form and a wobble but nice overall. Double full, clean and stuck! Good work, I believe she’s a 2010 baby. 13.500 (5.6, 7.900)

11:43 am. Manrique Larduet VT: Dragulescu, step back, but his air on that was MASSIVE! 14.800 (5.6, 9.200)

Kaz 1.5 for the second vault, could be a bit more stretched on the landing, but overall really strong, just minor knee form in the air. 14.250 (5.2, 9.050)

14.525 average

11:41 am. Angela Andreoli BB: Punch front mount, good. Front handspring front tuck, also good! Wolf turn 1.5, double spin, a little wild, but gets it under control in the end. Front aerial. Switch leap to straddle jump (not quite where it needs to be) to back handspring. EXCELLENT double pike dismount. 13.650 (5.5, 8.150)

11:40 am. Wrapping up the touch for the second half now.

11:36 am. Manila Esposito BB: Back handspring mount right into the bhs loso, excellent! Front aerial, slight wobble. Triple wolf turn, lovely. Big double pike dismount. Fantastic routine! 14.450 (5.8, 8.650)

I think only two guys on vault today?

11:33 am. Elisa Iorio BB: Layout stepout mount, bobble, and nice on the side aerial. Lovely switch leap into a split jump half, not at 180 there. Bhs loso loso, has to fight to save the landing on the last acro but gets it! Front aerial to split jump, nice feet on that. Full Y turn, slight wobble. Double pike, chest down, small step forward. Good fight from her throughout. 13.550

11:31 am. Ares Federici VT: Kaz 1.5, some leg form throughout but the landing is pretty good! 14.350 (5.2, 9.150)

Handspring double front for his second vault, REALLY low, would say he sat it. They need to get rid of this extra mat, though since they’re doing EFs I’m kinda happy they have it, but also they could just NOT DO EVENT FINALS AT ALL. 13.400 (5.2, 8.200)

13.875 average

11:28 am. Alice D’Amato BB: Hit the leap mount, tiny bobble on the front aerial, Switch leap to split jump to straddle jump, a little short on the latter. Bhs loso has a wobble and then sadly a fall. Gets the double wolf turn and I think a 2.5 dismount? I wasn’t paying super close attention to the second half of her routine but think she got everything with no major problems. 12.650 (5.4, 7.250)

11:26 am. Gabriele Verga VT: Sat the handspring double front in his first attempt. 13.300

Kaz 1.5 was a bit wild in the air, never really gets his legs together, and he crashes off the mat. 12.750 (5.2, 7.850, -0.3 ND)

13.025 average

11:24 am. Sofia Tonelli BB: Hit the flight series. Switch leap to split jump half, a little short with a wobble, side aerial with a big wobble and a fall. Hit the dismount. 11.050 (5.1, 5.950)

11:19 am. Athletes are coming out now for the second half of apparatus finals!

11:06 am. They’re doing medal ceremonies for the first few events!

6. Andrea Cingolani 13.400
7. Edoardo de Rosa 12.950
8. Roberto Marzocchi 12.600

10:59 am. Camilla Ferrari UB: I missed the very beginning, Had a Komova II, nice on the stalder full, inbar half to piked Jaeger, came up short on a stalder half and didn’t hit the handstand, full-in dismount with a big hop.

10:57 am. Lorenzo Casali SR: Okay, we have a break in Szombathely so I can give the Italians the attention they deserve. Strong iron cross, swing up to a nice planche which he rolls down to an inverted hang, then back up to a pike sit, swings through to saltos to finish in a straddle sit, arches over a handstand after, back giant to handstand is better, good front giant to handstand as well, and hit the dismount with a step. 13.700 (5.2, 8.500)

10:55 am. Nunzia Dercenno UB: Sorry, I didn’t type during this, I’m also live blogging Szombathely and the standings just wrapped up for a rotation, but I did watch this while typing in THAT live blog and it was very good, some form throughout but she caught multiple releases and hit a good double front dismount! 13.800 (5.7, 8.100)

10:53 am. Andrea Cingolani SR: Looked great in his saltos, held an iron cross well, came up short on the back giant to handstand and had to muscle it up a bit, full-twisting double layout with a big bounce forward. 13.400 (5.8, 7.600)

10:52 am. Alice D’Amato UB: Maloney to Tkachev, nice. Toe-on Tkachev I think (couldn’t see the entry) to Bhardwaj, van Leeuwen, blind change to front giant to front full pirouette, slight ankle separation, super high double front half, WOW! Okay, give her a bars medal at worlds please. 15.150 (6.3, 8.850)

10:50 am. Salvatore Maresca Maltese, inverted hang to pike through to inverted cross, maybe a little short of handstand, saltos to maltese, nice high planche, strong dismount. 14.850 (6.2, 8.650)

10:47 am. Angela Andreoli UB: Stalder full, some leg form, to Chow I think? To Pak, I had to stop typing for a second in there but she hit everything with no MAJOR errors, double front dismount was great! Landing was awesome. 13.650 (5.6, 8.050)

10:46 am. Andrea Russo SR: Wasn’t typing but this was a really strong routine. Full-twisting double layout dismount was good as well. 14.000 (5.5, 8.500)

10:43 am. Warmups for the second half now!

10:41 am. Caterina Gaddi UB: Toe-on to inbar full to Maloney to Ricna, fall. Back on for a stalder and toe shoot, and the double front was SO nice. 12.500 (5.7, 6.800)

10:40 am. Edoardo de Rosa SR: Didn’t really pay close attention to this one, I’m sorry! But what I saw was fine. 12.950 (5.1, 7.850)

10:37 am. Elisa Iorio UB: Ricna I think to Pak to Maloney to stalder half to Ezhova, some form throughout but overall good. Chow half I think? Hard to see entries from the side angle. Blind change to front giant to front full pirouette to double front, small hop back. 14.750 (6.2, 8.550)

10:35 am. Marco Lodadio SR: Maltese, inverted hang with a sing to inverted cross, saltos to maltese, strong, out to iron cross, handstands near the end look good, and a strong double double dismount, a little low on the landing, though…step forward. 14.600 (6.3, 8.300)

10:33 am. Manila Esposito UB: Nabieva is excellent, the height! connects to the Pak. Maloney to Bhardwaj, amazing. Van Leeuwen, almost looked like she missed a hand but it didn’t bother her. Front pirouette work and a double front, deep landing with a big bounce back but WOW she’s gotten so good here! 14.150 (5.9, 8.250)

10:32 am. Marco Sarrugerio SR: Inverted cross, a little iffy in his arm position, through to planche, lowered to maltese, nice. Iron cross. Double front pike was strong. 14.000 (5.9, 8.100)

10:31 am. Giorgia Villa UB: Tkachev to Pak to Maloney (a little low) to Bhardwaj, beautiful. Super clean van Leeuwen, blind change to front full pirouette to front half, full-in dismount with a slight hop, beautiful, brilliant. 14.400 (5.9, 8.100)

10:30 am. Roberto Marzocchi SR: Does maltese skills for the first couple of skills, then saltos to iron cross. Muscles through the front giant to handstand and has lots of corrections in the second, lands the full-twisting double layout a bit short with a step. 12.600 (5.1, 7.500)

10:29 am. I think the touch is wrapping up for rings and uneven bars!

10:24 am. Pommel Horse Final Standings

1. Edoardo de Rosa 14.650
2. Andrea Canazza 14.300
3. Nicolo Mozzato 14.150
4. Mario Macchiati 14.000
5. Lorenzo Galli 13.700
6. Carlo Macchini 13.500
7. Fabrizio Valle 13.150
8. Yumin Abbadini 13.050

Women’s Vaul Final Standings

1. Alessia Guicciardi 13.350
2. Desiree Carofiglio 12.975
3. Elena Ferrari 12.725
4. Arianna Grillo 12.150

10:21 am. Andrea Canazza PH: Wasn’t typing for this but it was a strong and hit routine. Had a big fight into the dismount but made it through. 14.300 (6.4, 7.900)

10:18 am. Mario Macchiati PH: Scissors through to circles, one-arm swing was nice, does some work on the single pommel in circles and then transitions well to both handles as well as back and forth between the handles and the horse. Russians at the end of the horse, seamless into the circles. Smoothly into the dismount. 14.000 (5.7, 8.300)

10:16 am. Carlo Macchini PH: Really aggressive swing at the start of his routine, loses some leg form in terms of separations at times in his work but his hips are mostly strong, just close a couple of times here and there. His hips are very close to the horse and he has some leg separation in the handstand going into the dismount, but a nice exercise! 13.500 (5.3, 8.200)

10:13 am. Fabrizio Valle PH: Hips are really piked on his circles, including the one-arm, little Russian moment on the single handle, travles in Russians, he’s VERY piked now, but nothing major in this routine, makes it into the dismount without any problems. 13.150 (5.6, 7.550)

10:08 am. Desiree Carofiglio VT: Yurchenko 1.5, legs were a mess throughout, basically straddled coming off the table and tucked throughout the vault, but honestly I’m just happy she’s back. 13.050 (4.6, 8.550, -0.1 ND)

Second vault is a REALLY nice handspring front pike! Really strong landing. 12.900 (3.8, 9.100)

12.975 average

10:06 am. Nicolo Mozzato PH: His work at the beginning is very nice, strong single pommel work and transitions between levels, travels in Russians and in circles, loses hip form near the end but fights through to the dismount and gets it with no problem! 14.150 (5.8, 8.350)

10:04 am. Arianna Grillo VT: Just a Yurchenko back tuck for her first vault, 99% positive she didn’t mean to do that? It had timer vibes with no real control on the tuck. 11.600 (3.0, 8.600)

Second vault is a tsuk layout, bounce in place. 12.700 (3.8, 8.900)

12.150 average

10:02 am. Yumin Abbadini PH: Scissors, goes into his flairs well, really nice extension, SO fluid in the transition up to the Busnari and back down again, his directional changes in his flairs are going SO well until he hits the horse with hips on one of them and falls. Really just the dismount left too. Bummer. 13.050 (5.9, 7.150)

9:59 am. Elena Ferrari VT: Yurchenko full, some pike down but really solid on the landing, just a bounce in place. Also showed a lot of power. 13.050 (4.2, 8.850)

Strong handspring front pike for her second vault. 12.400

12.725 average

9:57 am. Edoardo de Rosa PH: Sorry, I had to get up for a minute and missed this one. 14.650 (6.5, 8.150)

9:54 am. Lorenzo Galli PH: Wasn’t typing but this was a hit routine!

Alessia Guicciardi VT: Yurchenko full, some bent knees coming off the table and right before landing but overall this was strong! 13.450 (4.6, 8.950, -0.1 ND)

Tsuk full for her second vault, she’s SO powerful! 13.250 (4.4, 8.850)

13.350 average

9:53 am. Athletes are warming up for pommels and WAG vault!

4. Matteo Levantesi 14.000
5. Tommaso Brugnami 13.950
6. Lorenzo Casali 13.750
7. Gionatan Stradi 13.400

9:44 am. Filippo Castellaro FX: Front layout to piked double front, great. Front full to double front, tiny hop. Full-twisting double layout, great landing. Full-in to finish. Great work! 14.500! That’ll get him the title!

9:41 am. Lorenzo Casali FX: Front double full to double front, hop forward. Full-twisting double layout, great. Randi was good as well. Hit the rest, really strong in his last pass, another strong routine! 13.750 (5.8, 8.250, -0.3)

9:37 am. Gionatan Stradi FX: Hit the first couple of passes, 2.5 came out really low and does a front tuck out of it. Beautiful layout side pass. Triple full to finish, nice in the air until the last rotation, loses some leg form and ends up really short with his chest down and a big lunge. 13.400

9:34 am. Matteo Levantesi FX: Front full to double front, small hop. Hit the next couple of passes and had a gorgeous arabian double front. Strong triple full at the end. 14.000  (5.5, 8.500)

9:30 am. Nicola Bartolini FX: Beautiful piked double front half, step. Double double is excellent. 1.5 to front double full and back double full down the side are both nice. Hit the second to last pass and then a gorgeous triple to finish, amazing routine! 14.350 (5.6, 8.750)

Why do they all have the same E score lol

9:27 am. Tommaso Brugnami FX: Big double double to start and then huge air on his randi, small hop. 2.5 to front layout, slightly arched, but gets it around easily. Lovely double full down the side. Triple full to finish, tiny hop. So clean on everything! 13.950 (5.2, 8.750)

9:26 am. Mario Macchiati FX: Was still setting up the blog so wasn’t typing during any of this, but he hit everything and it looked really strong! 14.250 (5.5, 8.750)

9:23 am. Starting with the men on floor! Touch warmup is underway.

    • Definitely a little but honestly watching Alice’s routine, I was like, okay but I would be FULLY FINE with this scoring this high at worlds?! It was SO NICE. I could see her realistically getting an 8.6+ E score. It’s a medal-worthy routine and I hope the judges see what I see! Overall the scoring across the board here was a little high but there were some where I was surprised to see the E scores lower than I would have guessed. Beam was probably the worst in terms of how it would compare to worlds scoring, but I felt the same with Manila’s routine as I did with Alice’s bars, like PLEASE score her this high, she deserves it!

    • It might depend on the national federation, but I think most national federations are a bit more relaxed with rules that regulate things like dress and behavior (like how you celebrate). There might be some that are strict because they try to replicate the same vibes at worlds, but it’s very rare to see domestic athletes penalized for things like underwear showing, a missing number on their leo, etc.
