4. Chiba Kenta, Japan, 83.464
5. Milad Karimi, Kazakhstan, 82.931
6. Yumin Abbadini, Italy, 82.832
7. Sun Wei, China, 82.698
8. Noe Seifert, Switzerland, 82.431

4:12 pm. Chiba Kenta JPN HB: Kolman, maybe a little conservative on the release, and then he also goes a little tentative into the Tkachev, slips off. Back on and has to muscle through the Tak full, Yamawaki to Endo, double double layout with a decent landing.

Asher Hong USA FX: 13.733

4:09 pm. Sun Wei CHN PH: Scissors to handstand go pretty well, great form in his opening circle sequence, legs come apart while traveling, tries to fight it, but can’t get his rhythm back and he’ll have to count a fall. Wasn’t paying attention but he came off a second time and then rushed into the dismount, he looks kind of destroyed. 12.300

4:08 pm. Mario Macchiati ITA PH: 13.433

4:07 pm. Hashimoto Daiki JPN HB: Tak half is nice, Cassina gets around no problem, Kolman as well! Layout Tkachev to straddle Tkachev, a little low maybe to be picky, Tak full went a bit crooked, he did well to fight through it, stalder, Quast, double double layout, stuck with an arm windmill!

4:05 pm. Florian Langenegger SUI SR: 12.900

Thierno Diallo ESP FX: 13.366

4:03 pm. Jake Jarman GBR HB: Cassina goes a little low but really far, and he has a fall. Back on for a layout Tkachev, blind change to Tak, almost doesn’t make it to handstand but he pushes it over, gets more aggressive for the subsequent front giants, Tak half, stalder, and a double double layout with a hop back. 12.166

4:01 pm. Casimir Schmidt NED SR: 12.800

Khabibullo Ergashev UZB FX: 12.800

Luka van den Keybus BEL PH: 9.666

4:00 pm. James Hall GBR HB: Big Cassina and Kolman, straddle Tkachev, stalder to blind change to Tak full, hits the handstand but splits his legs in it, also a leg split in the Tak half, double double layout, little tiny baby step on the dismount. 13.466

3:57 pm. Yumin Abbadini ITA FX: 2.5 to front layout, super clean. Arabian double front with a big hop forward. Front double full. Double full, clean, clicks his heels together. Strong triple full to finish. 13.866

Rene Cournoyer CAN PH: 12.600

Lee Junho KOR SR: 13.166

3:55 pm. Fred Richard USA HB: Cassina, falls on the Kolman. WELP. Back on for a layout Tkachev, straddle to piked Tkachevs, pretty solid Tak full and Tak half, and a double double layout, stuck. 13.300

Krisztofer Meszaros HUN PH: 13.500

Ilia Liubimov ISR SR: 12.400

3:53 pm. Noe Seifert SUI FX: Front full to double front, clean with a hop forward. Piked double front, little hop forward. Front double full to tucked barani. Double full. 2.5 to front layout, hop forward. Triple full, hop back. 13.833

Ahmet Γ–nder TUR SR: 13.133

3:51 pm. Illia Kovtun UKR PH: Wasn’t quick hitting this but everything looked pretty good, legs were mostly glued, hips could be a little more open throughout, had to rush a little through the dismount, but a hit! 14.300

Milad Karimi KAZ HB: Lovely stretched Cassina! Kovacs to Kolman, YES! Tak half was great. Straddle to piked Tkachevs, blind change to L grip to Tak, double double layout deep with a step forward. 14.266

Lukas Dauser GER FX: 11.966

3:50 pm. Diogo Soares BRA SR: Planche has little weird leg adjustments, I only saw them because the camera zoomed SO CLOSE, saltos to pike sit, pressed to a clean handstand, front giant to handstand was a bit muscled, stuck the full-twisting double layout. 13.066

3:48 pm. Getting ready for the final rotation! If Fred Richard wins a medal here, it’ll be the FOURTH all-around medal for a U.S. man at worlds, and only the second at a worlds hosted outside of the United States!

3:44 pm. Rotation 5 Standings

1. Hashimoto Daiki JPN 71.632
2. Fred Richard USA 71.032
3. Chiba Kenta JPN 70.831
4. Illia Kovtun UKR 70.698
5. Sun Wei CHN 70.398
6. Jake Jarman GBR 69.032
7. Yumin Abbadini ITA 68.966
8. James Hall GBR 68.865

3:42 pm. Hashimoto Daiki JPN PB: Lovely start, pirouette out of the first handstand was nice but got a little sketchy on the next one that transitioned between the bars, big straddle front salto, Bhavsar cleanly through, Tippelt goes right to handstand, so smooth, half turn out before the double front half, clean and stuck! 14.800

3:40 pm. Mario Macchiati ITA FX: Front full to double front, little step. 2.5 to front tuck full, small step back. Arabian double front half, bounce back. Double full is clean. Hit the last couple of passes IIRC. 13.466

Thierno Diallo ESP HB: 12.300

3:39 pm. Jake Jarman GBR PB: Front pike can’t make it to handstand, has to kip cast out of it, oh no. Gets the next couple of handstands, and a couple of rushed pirouettes. Bhavsar was fine, Tippelt went well, double front half with a hop forward. 12.766

3:38 pm. Khabibullo Ergashev UZB HB: 11.733

3:36 pm. Luka van den Keybus BEL FX: Piked double front, lands RIGHT in the corner, but his toes don’t go out. Double front was a bit weaker in terms of the landing but gets the 2.5 to front layout without issue. 1.5 to front tuck full. Triple full, maybe a little low, but he gets it around with a decent landing. 13.600

Casimir Schmidt NED PH: 13.266

3:35 pm. James Hall GBR PB: Couldn’t pay close attention again but this was excellent! 14.666

Yumin Abbadini ITA HB: 14.033

Lee Junho KOR PH: 11.933

3:32 pm. Rene Cournoyer CAN FX: Strong double double and then a front layout to double front, hop forward. Arabian double front half after that I think? Good landing. Clean 1.5 to front full. 2.5 to finish, little bounce. 13.566

3:30 pm. Fred Richard USA PB: Barani right to the front straddle salto, little adjustments on the half pirouette before the Bhavsar, this angle we have for him is awful, it’s totally overhead, Tippelt was nice, turns out of the handstand and takes a second to get to handstand, lovely Healy after that, and a strong double front dismount with a hop. 14.600!

Noe Seifert SUI HB: 12.800

Ilia Liubimov ISR PH: 13.700

3:28 pm. Krisztofer Meszaros HUN FX: Beautiful 2.5 to double front. Double double, chest down but a good landing otherwise. Randi is good. I think a front double full to front layout after that, and then a 1.5 to front full, step back. Beautiful triple full, hop back. 14.266

3:26 pm. Ahmet Γ–nder TUR PH: Out of all of the routines they could show of his they’re going with pommels, I’m scared! And rightfully so. Legs come apart at one point early in his routine, he tries to fight, but they break even further and he ends up dropping onto the horse before falling. Off again with a similar leg form break issue shortly before the dismount, which he can’t get around so that’s another fall. Mounts again just for the dismount and gets it this time. 9.933

Milad Karimi KAZ PB: 14.100

Lukas Dauser GER HB: 13.366

3:24 pm. Illia Kovtun UKR FX: Front full to double front, small hop. Stuck the randi. Big 3.5, step forward. Clean double full. 2.5 to front layout, moves his chest forward to control the landing. Triple full with a step. 14.000

Asher Hong USA HB: 11.833

Diogo Soares BRA PH: 13.600

3:22 pm. Chiba Kenta JPN PB: Good handstands and pirouettes throughout the start, a little short in a cast to handstand but the subsequent one was great, front straddle salto, nice height on the Bhavsar, half turn clean before the Tippelt, SO smooth to handstand, half turn before the double front half dismount, a bit low with a hop to the side. Dismount aside, this was so nice! 14.666

3:20 pm. Sun Wei CHN FX: Sorry, I had to turn away for a few minutes and missed all of this! 13.333

Florian Langenegger SUI PH: 13.466

3:17 pm. Should be wrapping up the touch for the fifth rotation soon.

3:11 pm. Luka van den Keybus BEL HB: Yamawaki to Endo, good, stalder Rybalko was a bit rough, Tak half Is good, giant Rybalko was much better than the stalder version, Tak, Quast, full-twisting double layout dismount comes off a little low maybe, but just has a little hop. 13.500

Lee Junho KOR FX: 13.466

3:09 pm. Khabibullo Ergashev UZB PB: Wasn’t typing during his, had one little muscle up on a handstand, a few other adjustments, small hop on the double pike. 13.166

3:02 pm. Fred Richard USA VT: OOH! Beautiful stuck Kas 1.5! That was awesome. A bit squatted and low but love that stick. 14.566

3:01 pm. Diogo Soares BRA FX: Good double double, comes out really low on the 2.5 and sits the front layout out of it. UGHHHH. Front full to front tuck full, hop forward. Double full with a little bounce. Triple full with a step back to control it. 13.000

3:00 pm. Asher Hong USA PB: 14.466

2:59 pm. Milad Karimi KAZ VT: Kas 1.5, great in the air, small hop forward and then has to windmill his arms to control it further. Also a bit directionally off and his toes are OOB I think. 14.233

2:58 pm. Sun Wei CHN HB: Tak half, a little short, Cassina was kinda low but he gets it around, layout Tkachev to straddle Tkachev to piked Tkachev, nice! Blind change to L grip, Endo, legs wild in a Tak full, turns around for a stalder and the double double layout dismount, flared but a hop back. 14.233

Florian Langenegger SUI FX: 13.433

Ahmet Γ–nder TUR HB: 14.066

2:42 pm. Milad Karimi KAZ SR: Straddle planche, then kind of rushes the giant out of that to handstand, a little short. Next handstand has some sway in it, saltos to straddle sit, presses to handstand before the double double dismount, little wobble and a step back. 12.966

Illia Kovtun UKR PB: Ooooh, this score! 15.166!

2:41 pm. Diogo Soares BRA HB: Endo, Zou Li Min, Tak full wasn’t too bad, good Tak half, layout Tkachev, straddle to piked Tkachevs, stalder, Quast was really nice, full-twisting double layout, excellent! 13.800

2:40 pm. Sun Wei CHN PB: 14.400

Yumin Abbadini ITA VT: 13.900

2:38 pm. Chiba Kenta JPN SR: Inverted hang up to maltese, inverted hang through to iron cross, Inverted pike to planche, legs are maybe a little higher than his hips but we have a weird angle, back giant to handstand, adjust slightly, saltos to iron cross, front giant to inverted cross was nice, then to handstand after, tiny adjustments, double double dismount with a hop forward. 13.733

2:37 pm. Florian Langenegger SUI HB: Yamawaki to Endo, Talk half, stalder to inbar to blind change to Tak, L grip giants, and a double-twisting double layout dismount, has to tuck his legs a bit but lands it no problem. 13.033

Asher Hong USA VT: Guessing he crashed the Ri Se Gwang based on the score… 13.866

2:32 pm. Jake Jarman GBR SR: Inverted hang to pike pulled up to planche, then out to iron cross, maybe could straighten his arms more? Inverted pike through to saltos to handstand, shaking quite a bit there. Arches over the back giant to handstand, double double dismount with a tiny step. 12.900

Khabibullo Ergashev UZB VT: 13.866

Thierno Diallo ESP VT: 14.133

7. Hashimoto Daiki JPN 27.832
8. Krisztofer Meszaros HUN 27.666

2:23 pm. Fred Richard USA PH: Scissor to handstand, has to move a hand forward to control himself from arching over. Gets out of that jam and down into his flair work, travels in circles, muscles hard into the dismount and barely gets it around, has to rush it, but I guess that’s a hit! 13.733

Noe Seifert SUI SR: 13.366

Ahmet Γ–nder TUR PB: 12.866

Diogo Soares BRA PB: 14.266

2:20 pm. Milad Karimi KAZ PH: Scissor to handstand into his flop work, legs start to come apart while traveling and then almost FULLY split/bend significantly but he pulls them back together for his Russian work at the end of the horse, and goes safely into the dismount. 13.000

Asher Hong USA SR: 13.833

2:15 pm. Casimir Schmidt NED PB: Didn’t make it to handstand on a turn from the single to both rails. Makuts with a bit of a pause halfway through, and adjusted on the subsequent pirouette. Little sway in his back before the Tippelt, and double front rotated a bit slowly, step back to save the landing. 12.933

Thierno Diallo ESP SR: 13.000

Illia Kovtun UKR VT: Kaz 1.5 with a big lunge forward. 14.333

2:14 pm. Hashimoto Daiki JPN PH: Starts out in confident flair work, good changes of direction, into scissors to handstand, drops down a little hard maybe? Just a little lack of control. But overall nice. Hips tighten a little before he travels in flairs, but nice extension there and pulls it in well into the circles. Kinda rushes the dismount a bit. 14.366

Khabibullo Ergashev UZB SR: 12.266

Sun Wei CHN VT: Kaz double full, deep step forward, knee almost touches the mat but doesn’t. 14.166

Lee Junho KOR PB: 11.733

2:11 pm. Jake Jarman GBR PH: Scissors to a short handstand, comes down from it a bit clunky as well, Russians between the pommels with minor form breaks, gets through it though, hips a bit floppy when traveling in circles, Russians at the end of the horse, goes well into the dismount. 13.433

Luka van den Keybus BEL VT: Strong Shewfelt! Little hop forward. 14.500

Pike sit pressed to handstand, double pike with a little hop forward. 13.533

2:08 pm. James Hall GBR PH: Muscle up to handstand out of the scissor at the beginning, one-arm swing, some of the single pommel work has leg form breaks, hips in circles could be more open, goes well into the dismount. 13.300

Yumin Abbadini ITA SR: 13.300

Rene Cournoyer CAN VT: 13.700

2:04 pm. Rotation 1 Standings

1:59 pm. Milad Karimi KAZ FX: Randi down the length with a deep step to the side. Front full to piked double front, step/chest forward. 2.5 to double front, good landing! Stuck the double double! Double full clean and stuck. Front full to barani, I feel like that was a mistake? It almost looked like he knew he was going too far out and just did the barani to control it rather than have a wild landing. But I could be wrong, just what it looked like to me, lol. Triple full, step forward. 14.366

1:57 pm. Asher Hong USA PH: Wasn’t typing but he had a fall halfway through. 12.333

Illia Kovtun UKR SR: 13.133

1:55 pm. Chiba Kenta JPN FX: Piked double front, big hop forward. Front double full to front layout is good. Front full to randi. Double full, stuck. Next pass, barani went a little far and landed OOB. Triple full with a small hop forward. 13.966

1:54 pm. Thierno Diallo ESP PH: 13.300

Sun Wei CHN SR: 14.266

1:52 pm. Hashimoto Daiki JPN FX: Hop back on the double double. 3.5 with a hop forward. Front full to randi, rushed, short, big hop forward. Double full clean/stuck. 2.5 to front layout, and then really low/deep on the triple full at the end. 13.466

1:51 pm. Mario Macchiati ITA SR: 13.100

Diogo Soares BRA VT: 14.100

1:48 pm. Jake Jarman GBR FX: Double-twisting double layout, hop back OOB. Triple double, small hop back. Double double goes a bit horizontal but opens up nicely, small hop again. Triple full down the side, maybe a hair short, has to hop forward. Front full to randi with a bounce back. Front layout to front double full, tiny hop to the side. 3.5 to finish, great rotation, small hop forward. So many landings that will get him but nothing super severe. 14.500

Luka van den Keybus BEL SR: 12.900

Casimir Schmidt NED VT: Dragulescu, a little off directionally and some form in the air, lands with a foot OOB it looks like. 14.300

1:47 pm. Yumin Abbadini ITA PH: Beautiful scissors through to flairs, and he works in flairs throughout the entirety of his routine, beautiful extension throughout, but just came up a bit short going into the handstand and he had to rush it and land with his chest down. 13.800

1:46 pm. Rene Cournoyer CAN SR: 13.766

Lee Junho KOR VT: 14.100

1:44 pm. James Hall GBR FX: Double double, maybe a little low? Hop back. Arabian double front half-out, a bit short with a hop forward. Front double full to front full, small bounce on that landing. 2.5 to front layout down the length of the floor, stumble forward. Hit the randi with a hop. Triple full, minor leg form, small step back. 13.600

1:43 pm. Noe Seifert SUI PH: Pretty good throughout the beginning, some split legs going into his flairs, but he moves well overall and corrected nicely out of that, smooth work into the dismount. Decent routine. 13.566

Krisztofer Meszaros HUN SR: 13.366

Ilia Liubimov ISR VT: 13.966

1:41 pm. Fred Richard USA FX: Double double half-out followed up with a front double full to front full, really strong on the landings for both! Great flair work from what I saw. Double double, little step back. Double full down the side, stuck, leaning forward a bit. 2.5 to front layout with a little scoot forward. Stuck the full-in at the end. Great routine! 14.633!

  1. Pretty shocking to only see Daiki get above 85, but this was the podium finish I was hoping for once I saw the lineups.

Really wish we could have seen Zhang and Carlos here, but maybe in Paris we’ll get to see that fight.

Excellent competition, lovely write up. πŸ™‚

    • I think he could have gone higher had floor not been so weak, but definitely still a bit lower than he’s been managing at home this year. I think since he got injured on pommels at University Games he’s maybe been a little off from his full potential? Can’t wait for another match between him and Zhang Boheng next year!
