Zachary Clay CAN PB: 12.900

7:01 am. Andreas Toba GER HB: Clean pirouette work at the start, Cassina legs went WILD, but he caught, Kolman not as weak, layout Tkachev, straddle to piked Tkachevs, nice. Quast, Rybalko was a bit latedouble double layout dismount, chest down but stuck on his toes. 14.100

Brody Malone USA FX: 12.666

Harry Hepworth GBR SR: 14.700

7:00 am. Samuel Zakutney CAN PB: Lovely handstand work early on, came up short on a pirouette, Tippelt was smooth, Bhavsar, clean press to handstand after, double pike was clean in the air but he has a bit of a stumble back. 13.966

Pascal Brendel GER HB: 13.466

6:59 am. Joe Fraser GBR SR: Maltese to iron cross, saltos to straddle planche, swinging a bit but good form, maybe some hip deductions, presses up to handstand, took him a second, front giant to handstand, back giant to handstand, double double dismount with a hop. 13.700

Asher Hong USA FX: 14.100

Artem Dolgopyat ISR PH: 13.000

6:54 pm. Audrys Nin Reyes DOM VT: Fabulous Dragulescu! Chest down but he nearly sticks, just takes a baby hop back. 14.766

NOOOOO, handspring randi then goes awry, looks like he’s still twisting into the landing, runs back out of it and crashes to the mat. 13.200

Paul Juda USA FX: 13.966

Diogo Soares BRA PH: 13.600

Jake Jarman GBR SR: 12.900

6:47 am. Fred Richard USA HB: Didn’t show this but I heard LOTS of screaming in the background of pommels. 14.166!

6:45 am. Luke Whitehouse GBR PH: Had a fall about midway through though the rest of the rotation was good enough and they won’t count below a 14 no matter what Whitehouse gets. Don’t think they were really counting on him for a big number here anyway and assumed he was the one they were gonna drop regardless. 11.733

6:43 am. Lukas Dauser GER PB: Oh god I joined late and missed the beginning so didn’t type, but what I saw was beautiful and he looked nearly moved to tears when he dismounted, awwwww!!! 15.166!!!

Diogo Soares BRA FX: 13.100

Max Whitlock GBR PH: 15.166!

Krisztofer Meszaros HUN SR: 13.500

William Émard CAN VT: 14.266

6:41 am. Brody Malone USA HB: Great pirouettes to start but he falls on the full-twisitng layout Tkachev. EEP. Cassina, stretches to catch, Kolman, basically caught on his elbows, crashes against the bar and then comes off. Good Tkachev combo and Tak full, Quast, double double layout dismount stuck. Yikes. I think he’s out of the AA final with that. 12.233

6:37 am. Aurel Benovic CRO FX: Think he started with a 1.5 to double front. Double double, step back OOB. Piked double front, hop forward. Handspring rudi down the side I think? Lovely arabian double front. Triple full, not super precise in the air but lands well enough. 13.766

Jake Jarman GBR PH: 14.266!

Pascal Brendel GER PB: 13.133

Asher Hong USA HB: 12.600

6:36 am. René Cournoyer CAN VT: Handspring double front, form in the air, really deep landing, pushes up out of a squat. Think his butt actually touched / brushed the mat but wouldn’t count it as a fall? 13.766

Artem Dolgopyat ISR FX: Apparently had a few stumbles, I haven’t seen the routine yet but his score is very low for him. 14.466

6:33 am. Eleftherios Petrounias GRE SR: Maltese to inverse planche pushed back up to maltese, fab. Saltos to iron cross, he’s so seriousssss! Inverted hang to maltese, back giant to handstand, swings through to planche, down to iron cross, perfection! Front giant to handstand, perfect control, double double dismount, big step back. 14.800

Samuel Zakutney CAN VT: 13.633

Félix Dolci CAN VT: 14.333

Asher Hong USA PB: 14.300

Arthur Mariano BRA HB: 12.900

Joe Fraser GBR FX: 13.533

Samuel Zakutney CAN SR: 12.600

René Cournoyer CAN SR: 13.933

6:13 am. Tin Srbic CRO HB: Beautiful pirouette right off the bat, gets through his Tkachevs including a combo set, a little low but still good on the Kolman, a little late on a front full pirouette but nothing severe, clean full-twisting double layout dismount with a step back. 14.600

Timo Eder GER VT: 13.900

Andreas Toba GER VT: 14.300

6:11 am. Ahmad Abu Al Soud JOR PH: Absolutely gorgeous work until he slips on his circles on the handle and falls. He looks simply devastated, I want to cry. Back on for a one-arm swing and can’t keep it up, falls again. 12.466

6:09 am. Nils Dunkel GER VT: Kas full, kind of not super tight in the air but lands it well enough. 13.600

6:03 am. Rotation 3 Standings

1. Joe Fraser GBR 43.433
2. Jake Jarman GBR 42.765

2. United States 127.965
3. Canada 121.031
4. Germany 120.431

5:59 am. Félix Dolci CAN PH: Scissors to handstands to circles, had one noticeable leg separation but otherwise is glued until he tucks his knees considerably on one element, really thought he was a goner but he stretches out again and continues with almost no break in his rhythm. Loses it at the end, though, and can’t make it to handstand for the dismount, ends up falling. Tries again and gets it no problem. 11.133

Andreas Toba GER SR: 12.966

Jake Jarman GBR HB: 13.333

Luke Whitehouse GBR HB: 12.466

5:56 am. Asher Hong USA VT: Tsuk full-in double tuck, leg form in the air, big step back OOB, chest is also pretty low, but could have been worse! 14.700

Second vault is a Kas dobule full, leg form is kind of a mess in the air and again his chest is down with a big step OOB. 14.433

Averages a 14.566, puts him in fifth.

René Cournoyer CAN PH: 13.033

Pascal Brendel GER SR: 13.000

Nils Dunkel GER SR: 13.700

5:55 am. Fred Richard USA VT: 13.933

5:53 am. Joe Fraser GBR HB: I missed the beginning but saw him catch something, also got a Cassina right after, clean layout Tkachev, piked Tkachev to straddle Tkachev also nice, a little late on a couple of pirouettes including on the one-arm giant, stalder, double double dismount, a bit deep, lunge back to save the landing. 14.200

Tim Eder GER SR: 13.066

Samuel Zakutney CAN PH: 12.233

5:50 am. Krisztofer Meszaros HUN FX: 2.5 to double front, a little short, hops back into a deep kind of squat. Double double, hands down, NOOOOOO. Front double full to front layout, hop forward. 1.5 to front full, hop forward. Triple full finished well, his best pass of the routine tbh, but so sad about the fall. 12.900

Paul Juda USA VT: 14.533

Brody Malone USA VT: Looks like OOB based on the score. 13.833

Diogo Soares BRA PB: 13.933

Max Whitlock GBR HB: 13.233

5:49 am. Touch finally going on for the third rotation!

2. United States 84.799
3. Canada 82.032
4. Germany 80.665

5:43 am. Still only saw five (5) routines switching to the world feed? Really loathe broadcasting.

5:40 am. Nils Dunkel GER PH: Scissors to handstand down to circles, clean transition for the most part, maybe a half second hesitation. One-arm swing went well, travels with just minor hip form, into flairs to travel back, Russians, closes his hips during one element, solid into the dismount, a great routine! 14.566

Félix Dolci CAN FX: Seeing a replay of this. Double double was a bit deep and triple full had a hop back. 14.133

Brody Malone USA SR: 14.233

Asher Hong USA SR: 14.633

5:39 am. Luke Whitehouse GBR PB: Kind of closed hips in one of his giant swings and basically whenever he casts to handstand. Had a couple of strong salto elements, and the double front half was solid, just a little hop back. 13.900

William Émard CAN FX: 14.000

Pascal Brendel GER PH: 12.233

5:38 am. Now that I have the “world feed” I’m going to complain about the number of ADS! Every routine there’s one. WHY PEACOCK WHY.

5:33 am. Mahdi Olfati IRI VT: Yurchenko double pike, big lunge back, form in the air was nice. 14.666

Second vault is a tsuk double pike, step back, more controlled than the first and still pretty great in the air! 14.500

René Cournoyer CAN FX: 13.333

Timo Eder GER PH: 12.800

Diogo Soares BRA VT: 14.200

Jake Jarman GBR PB: 14.266

Joe Fraser GBR PB: 14.933

Krisztofer Meszaros HUN HB: 13.666

Audrys Nin Reyes DOM HB: 11.400

5:32 am. Fred Richard USA SR: Great work on the saltos to straddle sit. Out to planche, nice control. Stuck the double double dismount! 13.500

Samuel Zakutney CAN FX: 13.233

Andreas Toba GER PH: 13.066

Max Whitlock GBR PB: 13.900

5:30 am. Aurel Benovic CRO VT: Dragulescu, I wasn’t paying close attention but it looked mostly good! 14.566

Second vault for Benovic is a lovely handspring randi! Form looked really nice overall and the landing was solid. 14.900

Robert Tvorogal LTU HB: 13.833

Paul Juda USA SR: 13.400

5:26 am. Should be wrapping up the touch for the second rotation shortly!

5:23 am. Rotation 1 Standings

1. Jake Jarman GBR 15.166
2. Krisztofer Meszaros HUN 14.733
3. Luke Whitehouse GBR 14.500
4. Joe Fraser GBR 14.300
5. Félix Dolci CAN 14.133
6. Samuel Zakutney CAN 14.033
7. Fred Richard USA 13.633
8. Paul Juda USA 13.600

Team Standings

1. Great Britain 44.299
2. United States 42.433
3. Canada 40.566
4. Germany 40.233

5:22 am. Okay, there are apparently two Peacock streams, one with just the USA and the other with everyone, I’m switching!!! This is the everyone stream.

5:20 am. Timo Eder GER FX: 13.400

Lukas Dauser GER 13.233

Pascal Brendel GER FX: 13.600

Félix Dolci CAN HB: 14.133

5:18 am. I’m clicking the individual streams on NBC and it’s just sending me back to Peacock, I’m going to scream. I remember watching individual apparatus streams in 2012!!!I Why can we not have this 12 years later?

Instead of watching Great Britain we’re getting “here’s some events where you should watch Great Britain!” One was vault, which just happened, none of which we got to see.

5:15 am. Stephen Nedoroscik USA PH: Starts out well, has two one-arm swings and the first was great but the second had minor leg form, Russians through to the end of the horse, looked really good there, loses some hip form as he goes through but makes it really well into the dismount. Great comeback after a fall from Brody. 15.200

5:14 am. Nils Dunkel GER FX: 12.600

Harry Hepworth GBR VT: 14.633

Jake Jarman GBR VT: 15.166

Krisztofer Meszaros HUN PB: 14.733

Andrei Muntean ROU PB: 14.366

Samuel Zakutney CAN HB: 14.033

René Cournoyer CAN HB: 12.400

5:12 am. Brody Malone USA PH: Went for a one-arm circle but fell out of it, just kind of didn’t have his hand in the right place, it was like, behind the horse. gets back on and looks mostly calm, hips need some fixing, good into the dismount. 12.100

5:11 am. Okay, I think I found individual event streams, this is unbearable, wish me luck. May wait until after the first subdivision to switch so I don’t miss anything.

5:09 am. Fred Richard USA PH: Opening was great, so aggressive into the flairs, which were great. Travels really well, just minor hip flex, legs come apart at the end of the horse a bit but he really pulls it back to fight through it, has to rush the dismount, overall a hit but not a hundred percent. 13.633

5:08 am. Diogo Soares BRA SR: 13.033

Joe Fraser GBR VT: 14.300

Luke Whitehouse GBR VT: 14.500

Robert Tvorogal LTU PB: Just got a replay and unfortunately he put his hands down on the dismount, tragic!! 13.166

William Émard CAN HB: 11.066

5:06 am. FYI trying to get everything I can but the stream I have access to is just whatever I’m being shown, I don’t have the individual apparatus feeds!

Of course Peacock is going to face on Team USA and Brody walking around instead of literally anything else. How do I…get something that’s not this.

5:05 am. Paul Juda USA PH: Scissors to circles transition went super well, and then also good into the flairs. Up for the Busnari, slows down a little but doesn’t lose his rhythm really at all, back into flairs, he looks REALLY good. BEAUTIFUL into the handstand, dismount is FANTASTIC. Wow. 13.600 (5.3, 8.300)

5:03 am. The touch warmup is kind of wrapping up ish.

4:59 am. Should be ready any second now to begin!

Teams: Canada, Germany, Great Britain, United States

Individuals: Brazil, Croatia, Dominican Republic, Greece, Hungary, Iran, Israel, Jordan, Lithuania, Romania

How to follow along!

  1. Thanks for great coverage as always! Did you hear Jake Jarman on his 2nd vault saying “that was the worst vault I’ve ever done”. Hope he still makes finals!

  2. Lauren, where did you find these scores (final rankings)? I’d also like to see the results standings for the individual events, if you know where they are!

  3. Great coverage! The team qualification standings rarely signify much in the team final, but the USA team score is about what you’d expect with the hit rate of most of it’s members – hopefully indicating hits in the team final.

So many medal favorites for individual finals clearly not going to qualify is surprising today. Always prefer event finals where it’s the best, doing their best, but sometimes it’s the best that hit the days that count.

On the bright side, we’ll certainly have unexpected medals in many events.

    • I think I’m glad they didn’t go lights out in qualifications, it has never worked for them before! Would much rather see errors in qualifications to give them a reason to fight back in the final…finishing on pommel isn’t ideal I guess but I don’t think I’m all that concerned about it!
