9:20 am. Women’s Floor Final Standings
1. Rebeca Andrade, Brazil, 14.166
2. Simone Biles, United States, 14.133
3. Jordan Chiles, United States, 13.766
4. Ana Barbosu, Romania, 13.700
5. Sabrina Voinea, Romania, 13.700
6. Alice D’Amato, Italy, 13.600
7. Kishi Rina, Japan, 13.166
8. Ou Yushan, China, 13.000
9. Manila Esposito, Italy, 12.133
9:19 am. An inquiry submitted for Jordan Chiles and it’s been accepted! She got one tenth returned to her difficulty score, and moves from a 13.666 to a 13.766 to outscore both of the Romanians. She’s crying out of joy, but poor Ana Barbosu was already celebrating and her face when she realized she was bumped to fourth – devastating.
9:16 am. Looks like Sabrina Voinea has submitted an inquiry but I’m pretty sure it’s too late? Oh, it happened earlier, we’re just getting the reaction now, her score remains unchanged.
9:12 am. Jordan Chiles USA FX: Full-twisting double layout, leg flies up on the landing but she quickly brings it back. Front full through to full-in, small bounce on that landing. Wolf turn 2.5, random grapevine in her choreo is so funny, switch leap to tour jeté full. Double layout is really short, foot OOB on the landing and chest down. 13.666 (5.8, 7.866)
9:08 am. Sabrina Voinea ROU FX: Double double, little slide on the landing but not severe at all. Double layout, form isn’t great but she lands it well and gets it into the punch front tuck. Hit a leap after that went okay. Full-in with a small hop back, leg form in the air. Double tuck with a small bounce to the side. Split ring leap to tour jeté half. Overall a great routine! 13.700 (5.9, 7.900, -0.1 ND)
Not sure what the penalty is for, I didn’t see her go OOB but could have missed something – this score puts her at the same total as Ana Barbosu but she’s now in fourth place behind her teammate due to the D-score tie-break.
9:02 am. Simone Biles USA FX: Triple double, great landing! All the power. Front full through to double double, lands OOB in a lunge. Switch to tour jeté full I believe that one was. Double wolf turn had some wild arms. The landing on the Biles was INSANEEEEEE. So so so good. Switch full. Double layout with a hop back OOB. Iffy landings on two passes but brilliant landings on two passes. Interesting. 14.133 (6.9, 7.833, -0.6 ND)
Wow, that puts her behind Rebeca Andrade by a THIRD OF A TENTH!!!
8:58 am. Alice D’Amato ITA FX: I think a Memmel turn? We have an overhead view which is not at all helpful or good. Everyone’s so creative! Double double, small hop back. Could have better height but still great! Triple full, some leg form, big step back OOB. Double wolf turn. Switch leap to tour jeté half, and then a split jump full before the front double full, small hop. Switch ring. Mostly a great routine! Again really just little things. 13.600 (5.6, 8.100, -0.1 ND)
8:54 am. Ana Barbosu ROU FX: Whip to full-in, small hop back. Pike jump full, think the pike shape could be better? 2.5 to front full, some leg form and she lands with a step OOB. Love the random hitch kick before the tour jeté. Triple wolf turn was a bit wild and didn’t look fully rotated. Double tuck to punch front was very cool. Switch full. Pretty great routine! Just little things throughout. 13.700 (5.8, 8.000, -0.1 ND)
8:49 am. Kishi Rina JPN FX: Also feel like she is a random finalist for this apparatus! But also love to see it. Double double, chest forward, step back. Front full to front double full, step forward, looked to be OOB. Triple wolf turn and then a kind of wild Memmel turn. Double tuck with a lunge back. Split ring to switch ring half, not bad. Double pike, low set and deep on the landing. 13.166 (5.7, 7.566, -0.1 ND)
8:44 am. Ou Yushan CHN FX: I feel like she’s such a random finalist on this apparatus but love to see her here. Triple full, small step back, minor form in the air. 2.5 to punch front tuck, a little forward on the landing and goes OOB. Triple spin I believe? Little fall out of it but not bad. Double tuck had a bounce on the landing. Double L turn, switch ring to switch half, triple wolf turn, nothing too bad with any of these. 13.000 (5.6, 7.700, -0.3 ND)
8:40 am. Rebeca Andrade BRA FX: Front full through to full-in, brilliant landing. Full-twisting double layout, a bit piked down but nothing too severe. Hit a leap after, then a Memmel to stag ring jump, lovely. Double layout, maybe a little low in the set but got the landing. Hit the leap series with a minor landing deduction. Double pike, lunge back. Not like, THE best, but pretty damn good! 14.166 (5.9, 8.266)
8:35 am. Manila Esposito ITA FX: Love her opening choreo so much. Triple wolf turn into more fun choreo. Double layout ended up being really low and she basically landed it on her knees, nooooo! Switch ring through to tour jeté…half? Maybe going for a full but not there. Or just meant to be the half! Who knows. 2.5 to front layout was fine. Slight form. Double pike with a big stumble back OOB. 12.133 (5.7, 6.533, -0.1 ND)
8:31 am. Athletes are marching out for the FINAL FINAL, women’s floor!
8:22 am. High Bar Final Standings
1. Oka Shinnosuke, Japan, 14.533
2. Angel Barajas, Colombia, 14.533
3. Zhang Boheng, China, 13.966
– Tang Chia-Hung, Taiwan, 13.966
5. Su Weide, China, 13.433
6. Marios Georgiou, Cyprus, 13.333
7. Sugino Takaaki, Japan, 11.633
8. Tin Srbic, Croatia, 11.333
8:15 am. Su Weide CHN HB: Tak full, pretty good, Tak half, some hip form but gets back under control, Liukin, layout Tkachev, Kolman, German giants to stalder, minor form, double double dismount, oh my god, he also crashes it!!! 13.433 (6.0, 7.433)
8:10 am. Tin Srbic CRO HB: Zou Li Min, right to the half turn, stalder 1.5 was very messy, Tak half to stalder layout Tkachev, stalder straddle Tkachev, noooo, a miss! I think on the catch his hands were basically there but his hips were too high? Then dropped hard and he couldn’t hold on. Looks devastated naturally. Back on for the Kolman, minor leg form, Quast, blind change to L grip giants, OOF, Tak full was a mess, lost it about halfway through, legs just fully came apart and he couldn’t get the full rotation around. Back on for the stalder and the full-twisting double layout dismount, stuck. 11.333 (5.5, 5.833)
8:07 am. Zhang Boheng CHN HB: Tak full was very nice, Tak half also really clean, right to the Kolman, great! Cassina was strong, layout Tkachev, straddle Tkachev, German giants, and a double double dismount, flies forward and I think put his hand down? Oh yeah, there we go. LORD these dismounts today!!! Another one who probably could’ve taken the gold and alas here we are. 13.966 (6.5, 7.466) – he ties Tang Chia-Hung exactly!
8:02 am. Sugino Takaaki JPN HB: Pegan, oof, one hand slipped when he caught and he did a kind of one-armed swing around which destroyed his form, got back into rhythm but then the Cassina was wild and a bit low/close, had to take a fall there. Does it again and catches, nice on the Kovacs, L grip work, including a Tak full that was a bit late, Yamawaki to Endo, Tak half a bit awkward in the form, double double layout, kinda crashed, couldn’t see if his hands or knees touched the mat as he jumped up pretty quickly, but think they may have? ROUGH routine, what a bummer. 11.633 (5.8, 5.833)
7:57 am. Marios Georgiou CYP HB: Tak was lovely, Tak half also good, Tak full, Cassina, minor ankle form, Kolman was great, stalder, Quast, blind change to front giant to Zou Li Min, a little rushed there, NOOOOO, then crashes the full-twisting double layout!! WHY?!?! Oh my god this would have been a medal almost for sure, the routine was so good!!! 13.333 (5.9, 7.433)
7:53 am. Angel Barajas COL HB: Tak full, not bad, Tak half to stalder layout Tkachev, some form after catching, Cassina, some wild legs there, really nice Kovacs to Kolman, some form on the latter, Quast, inbar, double double layout, tiny hop. Fantastic! 14.533 (6.6, 7.933)
7:49 am. Oka Shinnosuke JPN HB: Starts with some L grip work to the Tak half, Kolman, layout Tkachev, straddle Tkachev, German giants, inbar, double double layout a little deep but stuck. Not the most impressive routine in terms of the skills but it was VERY clean and solid! 14.533 (5.9, 8.633)
7:45 am. Tang Chia-Hung TWN HB: Tak half to layout Tkachev to straddle Tkachev to piked Tkachev, gorgeous on everything! NOOOO, went for a Cassina but fell! Rotation wasn’t quite there and he couldn’t get his hands where he needed them. So close. Back on for another Cassina attempt, gets it this time, blind change to L grip, Tak full to Walstrom to Endo to Zou Li Min, ABSOLUTELY gorgeous, full-twisting double layout, WOW, this would have been THE gold medal routine without that fall I fear. 13.966 (6.5, 7.466)
7:40 am. Athletes are marching out for the high bar final!
7:26 am. Balance Beam Final Standings
1. Alice D’Amato, Italy, 14.366
2. Zhou Yaqin, China, 14.100
3. Manila Esposito, Italy, 14.000
4. Rebeca Andrade, Brazil, 13.933
5. Simone Biles, United States, 13.100
6. Sunisa Lee, United States, 13.100
7. Julia Soares, Brazil, 12.333
8. Sabrina Voinea, Romania, 11.733
7:21 am. Rebeca Andrade BRA BB: Switch leap mount. Switch leap to switch half to split jump, solid. Bhs loso, very solid. Front aerial, slight check and break at the hips. Switch ring, another check there but not severe. Side aerial, break at the hips. Hit a jump after but not connected. Full turn, another very minor check. Lots of little things throughout but nothing like a fall so that’s good. Clean jump series. Dismounts with a double pike, hop back. 13.933 (5.7, 8.233)
7:14 am. Simone Biles USA BB: Switch leap mount. Switch to switch half to back pike, solid. Triple wolf turn. Front aerial to split jump to straddle jump. Bhs loso, stumbles back out of it and falls, woah. Shocking? Just completely missed the second loso. Side aerial with a slight bobble. Full-in dismount with a strong landing. 13.100 (6.2, 7.200, -0.3 ND)
7:09 am. Alice D’Amato ITA BB: Switch leap mount to front aerial to straddle jump to sissone, lovely work. Switch leap to split ring, bobble. Bhs loso, little adjustment on the landing. Punch front, little bobble. Double wolf turn. 2.5 with a great landing. This was excellent after a rather rough final so far! 14.366 (5.8, 8.566) – she moves to the lead!
7:03 am. Sabrina Voinea ROU BB: Off on the layout full right away, unfortunately! Hit the jump series after climbing back on, and then the layout acro series was strong. Front aerial, oof, hard fall on the side aerial. Split jump half, random but fine. Switch leap to switch half to back handspring, a bit slow throughout. Double tuck with a slide back. 11.733 (5.8, 5.933)
6:58 am. Manila Esposito ITA BB: Back handspring to loso to back handspring I think? We had an overhead angle and it was impossible to see but she hit! Also hit the leap series into a back handspring after. Front aerial with a little bobble. Big wobble on the side aerial. Triple wolf turn. Double pike, excellent landing there! 14.000 (5.8, 8.200)
6:53 am. Julia Soares BRA BB: Candle mount with a half turn. Double wolf turn. Lovely on the bhs loso. Front aerial to split jump to back tuck, tiniest bobble but mostly very clean. Switch leap. Went for a tour jeté half I believe, or switch full? But was a bit short in the rotation and fell, unfortunately! Wolf jump to sissone, clean. Double pike, chest down and a lunge back. 12.333 (5.3, 7.033)
6:49 am. Sunisa Lee USA BB: Triple wolf turn, little bobble but nothing severe. Front aerial to split jump to back handspring, very nice. Switch leap to switch half to split ring jump, also very nice and controlled! Side aerial loso loso, noooo, hard fall there! Switch ring with a big wobble. Gainer full dismount with a step. 13.100 (6.2, 6.900)
6:45 am. Zhou Yaqin CHN BB: Lovely mount and opening choreo presentation. Front handspring front tuck to split jump, nice precision. Full turn. Switch ring, great landing, maaaaybe the back foot wasn’t quite there? Side somi to tuck jump full, excellent, oh no, tried to connect to a straight jump full after that but bent in half on the landing and I think touched the beam with her hands? Switch leap to wolf jump, little bobble. Front aerial to split ring jump to Korbut, gorgeous. Triple full with a lunge back. Lovely routine overall, shame about that near-fall! 14.100 (6.6, 7.500)
6:40 am. The women are marching out for the beam final!
6:26 am. Parallel Bars Final Standings
1. Zou Jingyuan, China, 16.200
2. Illia Kovtun, Ukraine, 15.500
3. Oka Shinnosuke, Japan, 15.300
4. Zhang Boheng, China, 15.100
5. Ferhat Arican, Türkiye, 15.100
6. Tanigawa Wataru, Japan, 14.133
7. Lukas Dauser, Germany, 13.700
8. Oleg Verniaiev, Ukraine, 13.300
6:22 am. Oka Shinnosuke JPN PB: Front pike to handstand, clean. Rushed on the basket to handstand after but nothing tragic. Minor leg form on a pirouette but tightens up. Makuts had an arch when he was on the single bar but again corrected. Straddle salto went well, Tippelt, little hip form in handstand after, great landing on the double front half, minor leg form. 15.300 (6.5, 8.800)
6:19 am. Lukas Dauser GER PB: Ankle form on the first half turn right at the start, oof, rushed the pirouette after and it was rough, everything is very rushed and messy form-wise, definitely doesn’t look like himself right now. Arched over a pirouette but then calms down quite a bit after that, double front half with his knee form all over the place, this was so weirdly not good?! 13.700 (6.0, 7.700)
6:15 am. Zou Jingyuan CHN PB: The only reason I’d wake up at 5 am! Beautiful on the first pirouette, textbook. Makuts also perfection. Pirouette after is very clean, a little rushed on a half turn after that, massive front straddle salto, textbook Bhardwaj, turns around for a Tippelt, beautifully goes to handstand, gorgeous double front half with a great landing. Barely moves. 16.200 (6.9, 9.300)
6:11 am. Oleg Verniaiev UKR PB: Front pike to clean handstand, wild on a pirouette after that, okay on the single rail transition but holds it for like a quarter of a second, he’s rushing so much! Makuts was okay, Tippelt a bit slow to go up, Bhardwaj, bends his knees before catching and can’t recover from that really, ends up hopping off. Back on for a front pirouette, minor adjustments, also adjustments on a full pirouette after that, double front half deep but stuck. 13.300 (6.2, 7.100)
6:05 am. Tanigawa Wataru JPN PB: Front pike to handstand, sweet. One-arm pirouette out was pretty clean. Half turn a little short but gets to handstand in the end, arched over and then crazily walked out of the next pirouette, big mistake there. Bhardwaj went well, arched over a bit before the Tippelt, but made it smoothly to handstand. Floaty straddle salto. Very clean double front half in the air, but the landing is pretty deep. 14.133 (6.3, 7.833)
6:01 am. Ferhat Arican TUR PB: A little messy in the opening pirouette, two rotations in it though! Also a bit messy transitioning to the single rail, and goes a bit arched on the pirouette out. OOF, another transitional skill had a major leg form break, Makuts was slow throughout, half turn with significant arch, great landing on the double front half at least. 15.100 (6.9, 8.200)
5:58 am. Zhang Boheng CHN PB: Clean handstand to start, good pirouette after, a little short on one full pirouette, but mostly this is going well, straddle salto was big and clean, Bhavsar got good air, presses to a clean handstand after, turns around with some form errors, Tippelt mostly very smooth, one-arm pirouette out, BRILLIANT there, double front half with his chest folded in half and a little bounce. 15.100 (6.4, 8.700)
5:54 am. Illia Kovtun UKR PB: Opening handstand was very clean, held it forever, gets through the Makuts, think he had an extra half turn out of it, little stumbly there, also arched on a subsequent handstand, transition to the single rail was lovely as was the pirouette back to both bars, another good pirouette, but came up a bit short on the half, 1.5 pirouette with some hand movement, Makuts for real this time, pirouette after with minor form, double front dismount with a hop back. 15.500 (7.0, 8.500)
5:45 am. The stream is just beginning for today’s finals, which will include parallel bars and high bar for the men, along with balance beam and floor exercise for the women!
