Lia Monica Fontaine
This year’s Elite Canada competition is set to kick off this Friday, February 14 with a largely young and inexperienced group of seniors taking center stage as last quad’s top athletes are on hiatus or competing for various collegiate programs.
In the senior field, lots of first-years are ready to kick off their careers at the highest level, including Lia Monica Fontaine, last year’s junior national and Elite Canada champion who also won the all-around titles at the Pan American Championships and International Gymnix in addition to taking silver at the Olympic Hopes Cup and winning a wealth of apparatus medals.
Other notable new seniors expected to compete here include Lia Redick, Gabrielle Fausto, Zoe Cadrin, and Alyssa Guerrier Calixte, all of whom had some international success as juniors, while we’ll also see appearances from established seniors like 2022 world championships team member Denelle Pedrick, 2023 junior world championships all-around and apparatus finalist Victoriane Charron.
In the men’s field, 2024 Olympians Zachary Clay, William Émard, and Samuel Zakutney will be the main draws in a field of 51 senior athletes expected.
