SUBDIVISION 3 | ROTATION 6

3:21 pm. Alperen Ege Avci TUR FX: Front layout to piked double front, small hop. Front full to double front, kinda stuck, arm wobble. Front double full down the side. Hit the next pass, my stream is getting buzzy, are more people joining maybe to see the results? Full-in at the end was low but stuck.

3:18 pm. Joe Fraser GBR PH: Scissors to handstand series both went well, Russians between the pommels, moved so smoothly to the pommels, circles on the single, then transitions levels well, minor closed hips at times and slows down his rhythm as he moves to the end of the horse at one point, starts rushing a bit towards his dismount but gets through it safely. 13.700

Lucas Kochan GER VT: 13.700

Edoardo de Rosa ITA PB: 13.266

3:17 pm. Timo Eder GER VT: Kas 1.5, not bad in the air, step back. 13.566

Sol Scott GBR PH: 11.133

Jermain Grünberg NED HB: 13.433

3:14 pm. Mert Efe Kilicer TUR FX: Stuck the piked double front! Clean and stuck front layout to front double full. Ugh, goes for a 1.5 to front tuck full down the side but is weirdly short on this and sits it. Slightly short on the tucked full-in at the end.

3:13 pm. Yumin Abbadini ITA PB: Front pike to handstand, quick out of it into the half turn, Next pirouettes go well, had a full and a 1 and a quarter IIRC? With the lil kip cast after. Hit the dismount. Good! 13.566

3:12 pm. Radomyr Stelmakh GER VT: SUPER clean Kas 1.5, big step forward but so nice in the air. 13.933

3:10 pm. Jonas Rushworth GBR PH: Scissors to handstand, adjusts his hands and arches over before transitioning back down for circles, gets the Sohn well, Russians on the single pommel also good, hips close a bit as he starts to travel but he fixes them, relatively smooth into the dismount. 12.800

Alexander Kunz GER VT: 13.466

3:08 pm. Okay NOW I think we’re moving into the touch for the second half.

3:05 pm. Luca Murabito SUI FX: Double twisting double layout slightly short, piked double front is good! Triple full down the side, slightly deep. Whip to 2.5 to front layout, love that.

3:01 pm. Noe Seifert SUI FX: Clean piked double front, small hop forward. Front double full to tucked barani, wobble on the landing on the double full down the side. 2.5 to front layout, minor form in both. Clean double pike at the end.

2:58 pm. Matteo Giubellini SUI FX: Clean and stuck piked double front. Front double full to front layout, deep landing, hop back. Clean stuck double full down the side. Randi was a bit short, some leg form as well. Double pike, ugh, short, hands down. 12.033

2:56 pm. Leeroy Traore-Malatre FRA HB: Endo, Tak full, slightly short, Tak half is better, Cassina with leg separation and bent elbows, Kolman WAY too close, catches practically at his armpits and can’t hold on, fall. Back on for stalder, hop full, a little crooked, and double-twisting double layout dismount, deep with a hop. 12.066

2:54 pm. Florian Langenegger SUI FX: Front full to double front, small hop to the side. Floaty double layout, some leg separation, good landing. Double full down the side is clean and stuck. Gets the 2.5 to front layout. Double pike, clean and stuck! 13.800

2:53 pm. Elias Koski FIN PH: 13.466

2:51 pm. Naël Sakouhi FRA HB: Hit routine! 13.566

ILLIA KOVTUN WITH AN 82.833 PUTS HIM ONE ONE-THOUSANDTH AHEAD OF ARSENIY DUKHNO OMFG.

2:50 pm. Illia Kovtun CRO SR: I caught this from the maltese, roll through to maltese, saltos to handstand, back giant to handstand, slight arch but barely, small hop on the double double, good! 13.333

2:44 pm. FINALLY moving into the final rotation! This subdivision started three hours ago. It’s going to end up being something like 3.5 hours. That’s too much. It’s too long. They need to figure out a better system.

SUBDIVISION 3 | ROTATION 5

2:43 pm. Jack Stanley GBR FX: 13.500

Artur Sahakyan GER SR: Crazy that they showed three German guys who are basic on rings but then cut to Russian routines from subdivision two during the actual rings specialist’s routine. 14.100 – puts him in eighth!

2:40 pm. No offense to Germany on rings but we didn’t need to see three German rings routines on this stream.

Alexander Kunz GER SR: Nothing noticeably amazing or wrong, just a solid set, big step back on the double double dismount. 13.333

Harry Hepworth GBR FX: 14.333

Ferhat Arican TUR HB: 12.200

2:38 pm. Simone Speranza ITA VT: Went 14.133 on the first vault, 13.466 on the second vault, averages a 13.799.

Radomyr Stelmakh GER SR: 12.933

Jermain Grünberg NED PB: 13.966

2:35 pm. Joe Fraser GBR FX: Ugh, hands down on the triple double. Kinda chucked that. Double double also a bit chucked and short. Double front down the side, hop back. 2.5, goes really low and long out it and sits the punch layout. Full-in at the end also problematic, big step. 11.033

2:34 pm. Mert Efe Kilicer TUR HB: Tak full was pretty late, Tak half better, to Liukin, some leg separation, layout Tkachev to Gienger to Endo half, some form things but love that series, hop full, double double layout, a little deep with a hop back.

2:33 pm. Just had to miss a couple of things and not sure what but should be back for the rest of the rotation!

Ares Federici ITA VT: 13.900

2:30 pm. Yumin Abbadini ITA VT: Kas 1.5, noticeable leg separation in pre-flight, slight form deductions in the air and a small hop to the side on the landing. 13.733

Kevin Carvalho FRA PB: 13.300

2:28 pm. Jonas Rushworth GBR FX: I think opened with front lay to double front, deep with a hop back. 2.5 to front layout, also slightly deep, small hop back. Double full down the side is good. Triple full, slight chest down. Clean double pike, I think stuck?

2:26 pm. Touch for the second half!

2:23 pm. Noe Seifert SUI HB: Tak full, minor form, Tak half also little nit picky things but gets it to Kolman, piked Kovacs, German giants to stalder, triple back, a bit cowboyed, step back and shakes his head at himself. 13.966 – currently eighth!

His reaction is like “meh” lol so hard on yourself bestie!

Kevin Carvalho FRA PB: 13.200

2:21 pm. Akseli Karsikas FIN FX: They keep showing him flop and I love him and don’t want to see that for my mental health! Hopefully a hit please. Full-twisting double layout, sep back. Front full to double front, deep step forward. 2.5 down the side, stuck. Little bounce on the full-in at the end, yay! 13.466

2:20 pm. Filip Ude CRO PH: Couldn’t type but got everything pretty well! Had a weird balance check on the dismount but overall a solid set. 13.500

Naël Sakouhi FRA PB: 13.066

2:18 pm. Matteo Giubellini SUI HB: Kolman, some leg form. Tak full was at horizontal, Tak half almost to handstand, German giants, maybe finished a little late? Double-twisting double layout, some slight pike down but gets the landing. 13.466

2:17 pm. Sebastian Gawronski POL VT: Also a miss I think. 12.500

Dominic Tamsel SUI HB: 13.166

Mateo Zugec CRO PH: Ooooh solid 14.000! Not enough for the final but good for him.

2:14 pm. Kacper Garnczarek POL VT: Unfortunately a miss. 12.633

Elias Koski FIN FX: Double front down the side, slightly deep but stuck. Whip to double full I think? Front layout to front double full, some body line form in both. Clean layout full down the side. Good double pike, little wobble with his arms but feet don’t move.

2:12 pm. Illia Kovtun CRO PH: I had to step away for a second but saw he lost his rhythm and leg form at one point and came off le cheval. 12.800

Florian Langenegger SUI HB: 13.433

2:07 pm. Moving to the fifth rotation now!

SUBDIVISION 3 | ROTATION 4

2:06 pm. Why did they just show us Matteo Giubellini’s routine from the first half of this rotation when Ferhat Arican was literally doing his routine live lol? Giubellini’s was great but these on-the-fly editing decisions are dumb.

Ferhat Arican TUR PB: 14.366 – into third!

2:03 pm. Joe Fraser GBR HB: Tak half to Kolman, not bad! Minor leg separation.  Cassina also goes pretty well, slight pike, layout Tkachev, straddle Tkachev, Zou Li Min, Tak full goes really crooked but he corrects, double double layout with a solid landing, chest forward with a bobble but feet don’t move.

Altan Dogan TUR PB: 14.100!

2:00 pm. Radomyr Stelmakh UKR PH: Scissors to circles, Russians between the pommels, circles on both and then on the single, good transitions between everything so far, travels well, Russians at the end of the horse then in travels, NOOOO, falls out of his dismount, still finishes but didn’t get to handstand and complete what he was going for. 12.433

1:59 pm. Mert Efe Kilicer TUR PB: Wasn’t typing but hit routine! Had a clean Tippelt and Bhavsar and a little hop on the double front dismount.

Timo Eder GER PH: 13.766

Anze Hribar SLO FX: 13.833!

Amine Abaidi NED VT: 13.800

1:57 pm. Yumin Abbadini ITA SR: Also missed a little of this, noticeable was a big arch over in handstand, and maybe a bit wonky in his front salto elements, but stuck the double double dismount. 13.200

1:55 pm. Jonas Rushworth GBR HB: I missed most of this, caught it at his circle elements so didn’t see releases, in the replay I see he was a bit short on a Tak half, bug caught the Liukin and layout Tkachev, double-twisting double layout dismount was a bit piked with a couple of hops. 13.233

1:51 pm. Touch for the second half.

1:49 pm. Akseli Karsikas FIN HB: Tak half goes over the wrong way, kinda covers it well by doing a random clear hip, straddle Tkachev, layout Tkachev, ugh, fall. He’s had kind of a rough day. Stuck the full-twisting double layout. 10.966

1:47 pm. Noe Seifert SUI PB: Looked like he rushed a couple of pirouettes early on, I think the Makuts and straddle front were fine, Bhavsar went well, Tippelt mostly smooth, step forward on the double front dismount. 13.933

1:45 pm. Robert Kirmes FIN HB: Zou Li Min, Tak full was nice, Tak half also, to Kolman with some wild leg form, straddle Tkachev, inbar, stalder, sticks the triple back!! YAAAAAS! 13.800

Matteo Giubellini SUI PB: Had a full pirouette early on that went well but then went for a quarter to the single rail that arched over considerably. Good at bringing it back under control and the rest goes well until the dismount, low double front with a stumble back. 13.700

Kevin Carvalho FRA VT: 13.766

Nikita Simonov AZE SR: 14.166 – currently seventh

1:44 pm. Leeroy Traore-Malatre FRA VT: Big Kas 1.5, mostly clean in the air, hop forward. 13.766

1:41 pm. Illia Kovtun CRO FX: Front double full to double front, big step forward. Randi with minor leg form and a little step. 2.5 to front layout down the side, nice! 3.5, went kinda high and not far, some leg form. Arabian double front half, nice kick-out and a stuck landing! 14.100

Naël Sakouhi FRA VT: 13.700

Mattia Piffaretti SUI PB: 13.833

1:40 pm. Florian Langenegger SUI PB: Early work went well through to the front pike to handstand, Makuts clean, Healy out, Diamidov nice, double front with a small hop forward.

1:39 pm. Pierre Cassam Chenaï FRA VT: Kas full, noticeable form throughout his flight, big uncontrolled step back. 12.966

1:33 pm. Moving to the halfway point now!

SUBDIVISION 3 | ROTATION 3

1:30 pm. Joe Fraser GBR PB: I missed a little at the beginning, nothing really wrong with pirouettes or the salto that I saw, then caught up when he had a little adjustment on the single rail handstand, stuck the double front half. I’d say this is a slay. 14.366

1:29 pm. Gabriele Targhetta ITA PH: 15.200!!!! Moves into first place, 5.9 D, 9.300 E!

1:27 pm. Timo Eder GER FX: 2.5 with some leg form to double front, step. Full-twisting double layout, really deep landing with a lunge forward. Triple full down the side, a little short, step. Tuck full-in with a step back. Double full down the side, clean and stuck. Also sticks the arabian double front half at the end. 13.600

1:25 pm. Jonas Rushworth GBR PB: I wasn’t watching closely but he crashed something on the bars while transitioning from the single rail, Makuts maaaaybe? Hopped off. Had a nice underswing full, a little awkward in the Tippelt catch, Bhavsar, Healy, stuck the double front half dismount. 12.900

Edoardo de Rosa ITA PH: 13.600

1:23 pm. Yumin Abbadini ITA PH: 14.333 – currently eighth!

Alperen Ege Avci TUR VT: Kas full, lovely in the air! Good landing, just a small hop back. 13.600

Courtney Tulloch GBR PB: 12.966

1:21 pm. Radomyr Stelmakh UKR FX: Front double full to double front, some cowboy in the air, hop forward. Randi with a small hop to the side. Triple full down the side with minor form and a hop. 2.5 to front layout, hop forward. Arabian double front half, pretty cowboyed and hopped. 13.466

1:20 pm. Mert Efe Kilicer TUR VT: Decent Kas full with a big lunge back.

Sol Scott GBR PB: 13.133

1:18 pm. Ares Federici ITA PH: This stream loves showing him! Wasn’t watching closely but he had a fall about halfway through. Hit the rest after remounting.

1:16 pm. Alexander Kunz GER FX: Gets the front double full to double front with a great landing! Randi with minor form. Clean flared stuck double full down the side. I turned away for a sec but think I saw a 2.5 to front layout hit, then sadly too low on the arabian double front, big leap forward and puts his hand down. 12.333

1:12 pm. I think it’s touch for the second half now.

1:09 pm. Matteo Giubellini SUI VT: Didn’t see what he did but he put his hand down on the landing sadly. Switzerland will count a fall on vault.

1:08 pm. Melwin Touchais FRA SR: 13.666

1:03 pm. Naël Sakouhi FRA SR: Ended up not being able to watch this really but saw he stuck the dismount! 13.300

Mattia Piffaretti SUI VT: Looks like a miss, just a 12.600.

1:02 pm. Florian Langenegger SUI VT: Yurchenko 2.5, minor form in the air (mostly knees) but a pretty solid landing! 14.000

1:00 pm. Tin Srbic CRO HB: Front giant full, Tak half was 45 degrees short, stalder layout Tkachev to straddle Tkachev, Kolman with some leg separation, blind change to front giants, Tak full, stalder, double double layout, a little piked, step. 13.666

12:59 pm. Noe Seifert SUI VT: Yurchenko double full, minor form in the air but nice overall, little step back. 13.500

12:58 pm. Illia Kovtun CRO HB: tak full was a little crooked, but got to handstand, Tak half to layout Tkachev to straddle Tkachev, get it king, Cassina was a mess in the air, stalder, hop full with some form, great triple back tuck! 14.200 – currently second!

12:53 pm. Moving into the third rotation now!

SUBDIVISION 3 | ROTATION 2

12:50 pm. Harry Hepworth GBR VT: We didn’t get to see this, but looks like he scored a 14.533 for his first vault and a 14.266 for the second to average a 14.399, currently third!

Simone Speranza ITA FX: 13.733

Jordi Hagenaar NED PH: Wasn’t typing for this but a hit routine, biggest issue was that the dismount was a bit rushed.

12:48 pm. Mert Efe Kilicer TUR SR: Pike sit, down to iron cross, nice control throughout. Piked and tucked saltos to handstand, a little shaky but he figures it out. Back giant to handstand is a bit arched. Double double dismount, chest down and a hop forward. 12.266

Loran de Munck NED PH: 14.200 – currently eighth!

12:46 pm. Radomyr Stelmakh GER HB: Zou Li Min, Tak full, slightly late there, Tak half was better, to Liukin, yas! Layout Tkachev, hop full was a little crooked, inbar, stuck the double-twisting double layout! 14.033 – currently fourth!

Mehmet Ayberk Kosak TUR SR: 13.900

12:44 pm. Ares Federici ITA FX: 2.5 to double front, some cowboy in the air, hop forward. Double double, kind of a hard landing, chest forward. Triple full down the side was stuck. Front full to randi, the full was nice, the latter had some form and was a wee bit short. Arabian double front half with a step to finish. 13.600

12:42 pm. Joe Fraser GBR VT: Huge Kas 1.5! Really nice in the air, good chest position and just a small hop forward on the landing. 13.900

Timo Eder GER HB: 13.500

12:41 pm. Jermain Grünberg NED PH: Scissors to handstand, down to circles, single pommel with kind of floppy legs and hips, gets a little cleaner when he travels, some leg separation, into the dismount, hit routine. 11.933

12:40 pm. Jonas Rushworth GBR VT: Kas 1.5, mostly good form in the air, gets the landing well! 13.933

Riccardo Villa ITA FX: 13.466

12:38 am. Alexander Kunz GER HB: Zou Li Min went well, Tak half also, to Gienger to Endo, I think that was the series anyway! From my shady memory. Tak, front giants, stuck the dismount with his chest down. 13.233

12:34 pm. Touch for the second half!

Benjamin Osberg FRA PH: Didn’t get to see this on the stream but went 14.100! Currently eighth. Too bad the team doesn’t have him – he’s competing as an individual.

12:32 pm. Akseli Karsikas FIN VT: Sits the Kas 1.5, ughhhh. Just came up a bit too short and is too far back on his heels to save it.

12:30 pm. Noe Seifert SUI SR: I missed the very beginning, saw the planche, line maybe a little off, pike sit to saltos to handstand, a little short but muscles into position, nearly sticks the double double, just has a massive arm wave to keep his feet secure.

12:28 pm. Pierre Cassam Chenaï FRA PH: Scissors, a little muscle to handstand, Busnari had some adjustments and went a bit wonky into the flairs, ends up hitting his legs on the horse and coming off. Back on for flairs at the end of the horse, then travels in them, travels in circles, minor hip form, good push to the dismount.

12:27 pm. Robert Kirmes FIN VT: Kas full, looked pretty clean in the air, big step back.

12:25 pm. Elias Koski FIN VT: Kas full, some minor soft body line stuff in the air, step back.

12:23 pm. Illia Kovtun CRO PB: I caught this from the underswing to the single rail had minor form, some form and a slight hip adjustment on a half turn, Makuts, full and half pirouettes, some hand adjustments on I think an underswing half, stuck the double front, just some cowboy in the air. Gorgeous overall! 14.500

12:22 pm. Florian Langenegger SUI SR: Front pike to pike sit was lovely, clean press to handstand, saltos to handstand with tiny adjustment getting to position, hop back on the double double dismount. 12.600

12:18 pm. Moving into the second rotation now!

SUBDIVISION 3 | ROTATION 1

12:16 pm. Ooh, they just went back to show Arseniy Dukhno’s gorgeous floor routine from subdivision two! I watched on Twitter already but nice to see it get some attention on the main broadcast stream.

12:14 pm. Radomyr Stelmakh GER PB: Short in the opening pirouette and then way arched over on the half turn out. Front pike muscled to handstand. Double front half had some form in the air but a good landing. Not a tremendously good routine for what he’s capable of but still a hit.

12:12 pm. Mert Efe Kilicer TUR PH: Beginning goes well, lots his hip form on the single pommel work, but no major form breaks, travels well, good into the dismount, hit routine!

Why are they showing so much of Türkiye on pommels of all things lol. Courtney Tulloch is on rings you fools! He went 14.366!

12:10 pm. Timo Eder GER PB: Front pike to handstand, underswing goes well, then underswing half was a bit short. Makuts took a second to transition from the single rail. Hit a full pirouette well, then double front half, some leg form and a step back.

12:09 pm. Alperen Ege Avci TUR PH: Wasn’t typing but this was a hit routine, had some minor form and looked a bit tentative in some earlier parts of his routine, but was really aggressive in his traveling and got to the dismount well enough. 12.133

12:07 pm. Joe Fraser GBR SR: Maltese to iron cross, fine on both. Front double tucks to double pikes to handstand, good hold, back giant to handstand, and double double with a little shuffle back, minor form in the air but a good routine!

12:05 pm. Ares Federici ITA HB: Tak half, minor ankle form, layout Tkachev, straddle Tkachev, weird leg form on the Kolman, Kovacs is much better, stalder, hop full with ankle separation in the air, double double layout, leg form throughout, gets the landing with a step.

12:02 pm. Touch for the second half!

Switzerland was able to drop Florian Langenegger’s fall on pommels so they’re looking really solid right now score-wise!

12:00 pm. Naël Sakouhi FRA FX: Clean double layout, small hop back. Piked double front, hop forward. I think double full down the side, small hop back. Muscled up the press to handstand a couple of times which is just a weird issue to have. 2.5 to front layout, hop. Clean double pike, hop back. Iffy on every landing. 13.266

11:56 am. Gino Vetter AUT PB: Little muscle up into the first handstand, underswing to handstand with minor adjustments, Healy with slight leg separation, had a decent 1.5 but adjusted his hands a bit, pike sit pressed to handstand, double front cowboyed with a hop back. 13.133

11:54 am. Noe Seifert SUI PH: Lovely handstand out of his scissors at the beginning. Single pommel work goes well, into Busnari, tentative down to flairs but no big errors. Travels in flairs, minor hip form in the circles after, decent push to handstand for the dismount. Good!

11:53 am. Leeroy Traore-Malatre FRA FX: Front full to double front, cowboyed, hop forward. Double double, low landing, kind of a stumble back OOB. Clean double full down the side. Front double full with some leg form, to punch layout. Hop back on the double pike. 13.033

11:50 am. Robert Kirmes FIN SR: Wasn’t typing for this but a hit routine, had a hop to the side on the double double dismount but overall looked good to me! Nothing major that stood out as an error, just the usual little things. 13.233

11:49 am. Aurel Benovic CRO VT: OOF, Dragulescu ends REALLY short, head is so close to being ON THE MAT his chest is so low, punches forward practically into the table. That was hella rough. 12.900

11:47 am. Florian Langenegger SUI PH: Scissors to ahndstand to scissors, into the circles, loses his rhythm on the single pommel, looked like his hand maybe slipped? Fall. Back on for circles on both pommels, some leg separation, Russians on the single pommel, travels mostly well, minor hip form now, big press up to get to the handstand for the dismount. 12.666

11:46 am. Illia Kovtun CRO VT: Kas 1.5, lovely in the air, big lunge forward on the landing to steady himself. 13.900

11:43 am. Touch warmups are underway!

11:38 am. Athletes are being introduced for the third and final subdivision! MAG intros are so boring compared to WAG. CHOREOGRAPH SOMETHING YOU MONSTERS.

I’m at my office and multitasking so I won’t be able to get every routine, and have my laptop instead of my big screen desktop, so am watching the Eurovision Sport feed instead of the six different apparatus streams just to make this more manageable for me because I will HAVE to hop away at times. Doing my best! Don’t criticize me!

This session has Austria, Azerbaijan, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia, Switzerland, and Türkiye, which is without Adem Asil last-minute due to some issues with his mental performance and nerves in podium training.

  1. One of my biggest gymnastics pet peeves reared its ugly head at Euros, with Ilia Kovtun “winning” by 0.001. If scores are truncated, as is policy, Ilia wins by .001. If scores are rounded, they have the same score and the tie-breaker comes in. I believe Dukhno wins this because his lowest event is lower and the first tie-breaker is to count the top 5 scores. This is a stupid tie-breaker in my opinion (6 up 5 count?), but nonetheless, it changes the results. If the scores are left as fractions or with all digits until the final sum is calculated, the results are the same as when they are rounded, so the tie-breaker is applied as above. Why why why are we still penalizing gymnasts for having more scores that end in 666…and 333… vs scores that terminate when this literally has NOTHING to do with their performance? Most importantly, why in all the years has no one complained and tried to fix this? Can we start a campaign? Laura

  2. Excellent competition, though the AA final score was … something. I wonder when/if Manrique will ever join the Italian team – he would have been a contender here for sure based on Italian nationals and been a huge asset in the team final.

Bummer for Turkiye, 0.2 from qualifying a team to Worlds. Hope Adem is okay. World’s this year is going to be incredible!
