2014 Worlds: Japanese Team Named

The Japanese Gymnastics Association announced their team for the 2014 World Championships, according to their website.

The women’s team boasts a wealth of experienced athletes, including 2012 Olympians Yu Minobe and Asuka Teramoto, 2013 World Championship team members Mai Murakami and Natsumi Sasada, seasoned World Cup competitor Inoue Wakana, and new senior Yuna Hiraiwa, who competed at Gymnix in 2013.

The 2014 World Championships will be held in Nanning, China, from October 3-13. The meet will feature team, all-around, and event finals, and will be the fourth time the artistic gymnastics World Championships will be held in Asia.

    • I think I heard last year that she was injured? She may have retired then as well, but I remember hearing something when she didn’t factor into the 2013 Worlds team.
