The Leo Panel features six judges ranking every leo worn in a competition from our most to least favorite using our very scientific and very awesome Leotard Code of Points.
We take deductions from five categories (color, fabric, design, rhinestones, and appearance on the gymnast, in order of how you’ll see them on our scoresheets). Each category is worth two points. We add the categories together to get each judge’s individual score, drop the highest and lowest scores of the six, and average the remaining four together to get the final score.
The first ever Leo Panel looks at the 37 leotards worn by the gymnasts at the 2014 Secret U.S. Classic. Note- as “science-y” as we pretend to be, this is all just based on opinion – i.e. our personal tastes and favorites. It is by no means a definitive list of the best and worst! Yup! I actually preferred the black/purple/silver, but that’s just because I love purple. What’s funny is that 1 and 14 are the same leo in different colors…we seemed to like Morgan’s rhinestone use better (Ashton’s wrist cuffs did it for most of us), and I guess we all thought it suited Morgan better? Just funny because they’re basically the same leo a few colors apart and one was a winner while other was almost halfway through the list.

Orlando Metro’s purple was one of my faves
I love that purple is coming back. I liked all the white this year,Jordan Chiles’s,Biles white leo and Gliders. Ashton Locklear’s berry leo was so pretty but might not look good on everyone..

It’s funny, on GymCastic last night someone said “I’m the only one who didn’t like the TD leo!” and I was like “NO I HATED IT” but apparently a TON of people LOVED it. I think Bekah loved it, IIRC. It’s a very divisive leo where you either love it or hate it, no in between.

I thought the Texas Dreams leo looked nice in action and from afar, but now that I see it up close, it just looks… weird. Have to say, though, that Morgan Hurd’s leo was absolutely fabulous.

I totally agree! I’m watching some junior vids now and on Grace on beam it looks great?! It looks more peachy and pretty. The only thing that really bothers me is that the white bodice and white sleeves are different fabrics when I watch in a video. But the photo definitely makes me not like it.
