The United States led the rotation with a 46.741 followed by Russia with 44.665 and China with 44.123.
The United States began on vault, with Kyla Ross the leadoff athlete. She performed her DTY about as nicely as she always does, her only big problem some leg separation in her pre-flight. It was a big, clean vault, however, with her feet just hopped forward at the end, bringing in a 15.1.
MyKayla Skinner had an absolutely incredible Cheng with a HUGE block, and looked miraculously clean throughout. She had the tiniest hop on her landing, and earned a ginormous 15.775.
Simone Biles competed an Amanar, and it was huge and clean with a hop forward, smaller than the one she had in the qualifications. I honestly think she’s surpassing McKayla Maroney in how clean and powerful she is, and she earned a 15.866 for the team.
Yao Jinnan had an excellent DTY to start, looking super clean throughout aside from some leg separation on pre-flight. Her chest was a bit down on her landing and her feet were crossed, but she only had a tiny hop back on the landing, earning a 14.966.
Chen Siyi, dealing with the flu during qualifications and likely still a bit ill, performed a DTY to her knees, unfortunately, bringing in just a 14.166.
Daria Spiridonova had an absolutely beautiful routine. She performed an inbar, inbar full, and Komova II to pak salto to start, had a lovely van Leeuwen, and then hit an inbar half to big piked Jaeger before landing her full-in dismount. Just gorgeous form, and she earned a 14.966 for her effort.
Aliya Mustafina had a slight form mistake on her inbar full but saved it. She hit her van Leeuwen, big piked Jaeger, and awesome stalder full to pak salto to stalder half to toe shoot, VERY nicely done. She finished with a toe full to stuck full-out for a 15.066.
Ruby Harrold competed a nice routine with a Bhardwaj, van Leeuwen, Zuchold, Jaeger, and double front for a 14.066.
Vanessa Ferrari competed a routine that began with a nice planche mount. Her bhs-bhs-layout series was hit with a leg up, and her front aerial-wolf-sissone series was nice as well. She had a strong switch ring and hit her double pike dismount with no problems. 14.3
Asuka Teramoto began her routine with a nicely controlled double twist. She hit her Onodi to jump series, but then unfortunately fell on her bhs-bhs-layout series, which she landed a bit off-line. Her front aerial to side somi was slowly connected, and she hit her triple full dismount.
Larisa Iordache had a hugely powerful floor routine, hitting a super strong double double and full-in to start. She hopped her turn around and hit the triple full with Mustafina legs, and then had a hop on her double pike to end the routine for a 14.708.
Larrissa Miller had a lovely routine to start, including a full twist to double full and awesome double arabian to stag. She came up short on her last pass, a double pike, and bounced forward. When she put her hands down she actually went into a beautiful handstand to a double stag, so she gets a bonus from me. She got a 13.3 with the fall.
