Competitors for the World Cup in Glasgow, Scotland have been confirmed by British Gymnastics this morning.
The Glasgow meet is the second of three competitions in the FIG’s World Cup series. To compete in a World Cup series event, athletes who placed in the top eight at the previous World Championships were invited to compete; if an athlete turns down her spot, the 9th place athlete receives an invite, and so on. The host country also receives invites.
This year will feature incredibly strong competition from top all-around finalists at the 2014 World Championships held in Nanning, China. Though many – including the Americans, Chinese, and Russians – have turned down their spots, the field is a strong one, headlined by 2014 silver all-around medalist Larisa Iordache of Romania, who will also compete at the World Cup in Stuttgart.
Great Britain’s Rebecca Tunney will make her return to competition in Glasgow as well, after having not competed since this year’s European Championships in May. She had surgery following Euros, where she placed fourth on bars.
The World Cup will be held at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow on December 6.
