  1. Any idea what happened on Hong Un Jong’s and Phan Thi Ha Thanh’s second vault? Did they fail to land feet first for zero points, or did they not even attempt a second vault for some reason?

    • I’m not sure what happened with Phan and assume that neither Vietnamese gymnast did a second vault? But I heard that Hong attempted a Cheng but had a really bad landing, hands first apparently. I wish I could get more info!

      • Thanks!

Just going by the score, I assumed that Do Thi Thu Huyen fell on her first vault and then passed on the second vault either due to injury or as a precaution. Phan Thi Ha Thanh however had a good E score on her first vault which firmly put her into contention to reach the vault final, so it would be unusual to withdraw after it. Her second vault tends to be the more difficult one (she usually does FTY / handspring layout full in qualification and DTY / Chusovitina in finals), maybe she crashed it too?

  2. Did anyone else notice that Chusovitina had the highest execution score on bars. How she’s still going is just amazing.

      • It sucks she has to do AA at 2016 test event but I think there’s a good chance we will see her qualified to her 7th Olympics. I think she can still be the top 8 in vault which is amazing for all these times….

        • Oh yeah! She shouldn’t have a problem making AA at all. I think some of the qualifiers in 2012 were in the 49 range and Chuso can get up around 54-ish on average, so she’ll be a sure shot and could probably even make the Olympic AA final if she has a good day! Insane.

  3. I thought that it’s interesting that Phan is actually trying to do AA as for the longest time her strong event has been vault. It’s good to see that she is putting up some not so bad score on bb also.
