What a fantastic meet! The crowd was electric tonight! USA takes Gold China Silver, and Great Britain wins the Bronze!

8:41 pm. E Downie (GBR VT) Great DTY!!!! 15.133. Great Britain will get a medal!

8:38 pm. Great opening pass for RAisman, stuck the piked double Arabian to stag, STUCK the double lay! Switch to tour jete 1/1, Double pike just a small hop back!!!! Redemption for her!!! She should be proud!!! That is a champion!!!! 15.075

8:36 pm. Tinkler (GBR VT) GREAT! DTY from her. Huge pop of the top and right down the middle. Small hop after and the crowd goes WILD!!! Should be a good score! 15.083

8:35 pm. Swaggie Maggie is on fire! She stuck her first two passes cold (double double and full-in) and had only the smallest of hops on her other ones.

8:34 pm. Fragapane (GBR VT) DTY. He form is just not great. Small hop to the side. We will see how the judges score her tonight. The crowd is electric and they need around a 148 average to get a medal. 14.833

China was WAY WAY over scored on bars. SorryNOTSorry.

With half a rotation to go China sits in the lead with 176.164

8:23 pm. Teramoto (JPN UB) jump to high bar, kch, toe on 1/1, to in bar Gienger kch (short on handstand) stalder stalder 1/1 to jaeger, stalder 1/1, bail and back up, Stuck full – in to finish…..She shouldn’t have had two stalder 1/1 in the routine. Bars are all the way across the arena and one could have been a pike in and out.

8:21 pm. Tan (CHN VT) Nice DTY from her. Slightly off center but her form and height are definitely superior to her teammates. 15.2

8:19 pm. Mao (CHN VT) Nice DTY. Right down the middle. Kicked out of it a little early and had to take a big jump forward. 14.833

8:18 pm. Wang (CHN VT) Tsuk double. Pikes down with low chest but is right down the middle. Small hop. 15.2 – seems a bit high to me.

China finishes on vault, Japan on bars, Netherlands on beam, and Russia on Floor.

Heading into the final rotation, USA is the only team without a fall.

  1. USA 135.530
  2. China 130.931

8:10 pm. Shang (CHN FX) back 3.5 to punch front pike, back 1.5 to triple to punch front tuck. Not as much height as Mao on the same pass. Back 5/2 to punch piked barani. Double pike with several steps backwards including 1 out of bounds.

8:08 pm. L. Wevers ( NED UB) Jump to high, kch, Church to pack, toe on, Maoney, (tuck in the back swint, struggles into the pak, toe on ( looks like she went the wrong way) and then tried to just straddle up to high bar. She was very very short. Mounts on the low bar and straddles up to high bar! Good this time. Giant ½, back giant into double front. Very very low landing. 11.133

8:04 pm. S. Wevers (NED UB) kch, clear hip, shaposh, up into 1/1 on high, bail to hand and back up, giant 1/1, giant 1/1, nice high jaeger, clear hip ½, double lay with a tiny bounce up.

Mao (CHN FX) back 3.5 to open punch front tuck (small step forward,) back 2.5 to punch front, triple twist…..So basically she is the female version of Kenzo. Switch to a shy switch ½, double tuck with a small step back to finish.

8:02 pm. Wang (CHN FX) double double. OMG her RO BHS was so so fast! Back 1/5 to triple to punch front tuck! She is the definition of fast twitch muscles! On her triple spin she definitely only made 2 and tried to fake the rest. Back 5/2 to front layed out barani, switch ring to switch ½, Beautiful double pike to finish! Fantastic routine! Very engaging!

8:01 pm. Murakami (JPN VT) Yurchenko double with only the smallest hops. Right down the middle!

7:55 pm Fragapane (GBR FX) full in straight swith ring to tour jete 1/1, triple, Her choreo is so fun. She shimmies into the corner and ends with a double lay to stuck to wolf jump! She truly is a performer! 14.733

7:52 pm. E. Downie (GBR FX) back 1.5 to double Arabian (step forward,) back with double arabian this time piked (step forward, switch to full spin to switch 1/1… back 5/2 to front tuck (small step forward,) Big double pike but step back. 14.133

7:48 pm. Huge double double with just a small hop back. Double straight back. Back 2.5 with Mustafina legs but got a huge roar from team and crowd. Almost stuck the double pike. There are some really realy nice moments for her but there are also some moments in the corner where there is literally NO choreo. Overall good routine. 14.433

From what I saw out of the corner of my eye for USA on Beam, Maggie had a solid beam but just really timid and missed some or had very slow connections. 13.966

Fasana (ITA VT) Nice DTY. Some leg issues. Pretty typical for her.14.8

Downie (GBR BB) punch front (solid) She actually looks mad or super focued, standing arabian small hop forward, switch, switch ½, double turn (wobble)bhs losco, sissone to split (looks a little like sissone – aka her front leg was a little too low) side aerial, STUCK 2.5 to finish! She looks really pleased! 14.133

7:33 pm. Townsend (CAN VT) Yurchenko 1.5. Some form issues and has to take a step back.

Fragapane (GBR BB) standing tuck (step,) switch to sheep, She looks really confident, bhs to layout (maybe piked a little,) full spin, standing back with a  full! Great, jump series, side aerial, bhs, bhs 2nd to double pike. HUGE roar from the crowd.

Greetings from Scotland! Glasgow 2015 has done a phenomenal job throughout these championships of providing great entertainment during the competition and this pre-competition performance did not disappoint. Probably the coolest presentation of flags I’ve ever seen. All the flags were accompanied by a bagpipe and drum core!

  1. Nice blog, but I do have a question. I’m American too, so I totally get that you are a USA fan. 😉 But, why do you say that China was over scored? Just cause they are in the lead? While they are not my favorite team I do respect them and I love watching some of their routines.

    • Their form is really bad and there are no if, ands, or buts about it. With the exception of Tan, they were over scored. There was NO block to the vaults given tonight and they were heavily piked down. There wasn’t a bias, I just call it as I see it. It wasn’t all around that I was suggesting that they were over scored, just on vault – to clarify

      • Oh, I see @Kensleyann. I am not up on the latest COP, so you could be totally right! Either way, I was happy to see them on the podium. And I am SUPER happy for GB! So nice to see them with a medal. No Russia and No Romania?! Crazy!….. Great blog – please do one for the rest of the events too???? 🙂
