  1. I think the Olympic spot will be between Rianna Mizzen, Emily Little, Larissa Miller and Emma Nedov. Rianna Mizzen and Emily Little both have a really good shot at qualifying for the All Around final (assuming they go clean in qualifications) and Emma and Larissa have a shot at event finals. Miller probably won’t make any finals even if she does go clean, but her consistency on bars where she’s most likely to make finals if others fumble keeps her in contention in my opinion. Nedov on the other hand, is very inconsistent but she actually has a great shot at squeaking into the beam finals, as well as having a routine on all 4 to at least consider all around. I don’t see Godwin or Georgia Rose Brown making it because they each hit a maximum of 2 times a year and Mitchell is simply too early in her comeback too late in the year to do much good.

    • I think if Miller cleans up her floor routine and stays inbounds she could make it into the final but she would needs a few mistakes from other gymnasts. It’s sad that Australia won’t have a full team in Rio and that Mitchell won’t get to go to her third Olympics.

  2. Beam is their (and most other nations) only chance at a medal. If you’re able to score above 14 consistently you’re a beam savant this quad.

  3. Has Alex Eade given up UB completely? Three years ago, as a junior, she had a 12+ potential UB routine and was a very promising all-rounder but I haven’t seen her compete it since 2013

    • Pretty much, yeah. I don’t know why, but it could just be because 12+ potential isn’t very promising for a senior elite, especially in a country where most girls have high 13s or into the 14s on that event, so she wouldn’t be competitive enough to ever really need it…though her lack of it definitely limits her from making teams. With Emily Little not on bars for the first part of this year due to injury recovery, they couldn’t take both Emily AND Alex because they needed five to go up on bars in quals at the test event, whereas if she had even a basic 12+ back-up routine, she could’ve gone so yeah. Too bad she doesn’t do them!
