Is it a problem that none of these girls are hitting 60? Would we not expect them to? Just trying to get a sense of whether US Gym Dominance is likely to continue next quad.

Except for Aly, every gymnast in the senior session who competed AA is, like, C or D team – not really the material we’re pulling World & Olympic teams from, except for Baumann because she’s such a standout on beam. If we don’t see any 60s at Nationals (unlikely), then you can panic. (Some of those C and D team athletes may stick around for a few years, develop more, and become high scoring standouts, the way Brenna and Mykayla did this quad, but as of this moment, they’re not really in the picture.)
The juniors aren’t really at a point in their career where we want them to be pulling 60s. Even the oldest ones have plenty of time before they need to be at full senior difficulty, and the junior code is somewhat modified to produce slightly lower scores anyways (skill values are capped at E, so big DVs are harder to build). Asking a twelve year old to perform a 60+ set, or even a 15.0+ single routine, and continue performing it for the next four years, is basically asking them to get injured or burn out. So having the older ones scoring in the 55-58 range, and the younger ones a little below that, is a natural progression – exactly what we should expect and want.
(Also, bear in mind that this is just Classic. You’re not supposed to be at your best until Nationals or, where applicable, Trials and international assignments, and that’s probably where we’ll see the highest scores.)
