  1. I’m so happy Ragan got second on beam. That was my wish and for her to be an alternate. I knew a spot on the team was probably out of the question unless someone had a major meltdown. Like 2+ falls. Heartbroken for Mykayla tho, her best competition ever. I always wonder how things would’ve been different if people hadn’t fallen!

      • Right? I must admit I was really disappointed that she was chosen, even though deep down, I knew she would be. She does consistently earn 15+ on bars, but the built in back up argument is very weak for someone as inconsistent as she is. I will be very sad to see either Laurie or Aly lose their deserved shot at the AA to Gabby.

  2. So just something to discuss as a break from the controversy. Suddenly aliens came and kidnapped the whole USAG team b/c they were bored with whatever entertainments they had and want the best human tumbler slaves. US has 36 hrs to cough up a team.

I guess we will start with the 3 already there: skinner, ragan, locklear. (good thing they were housed in separate places… Phewww…)

To that I will fly in Nichols and Dowell.

    (Qual)/TF
    Vt: (ragan), dowell, nichols, skinner
    ub: (ragan), nichols, dowell, locklear
    bb: (dowell), skinner, nichols, ragan
    fx: (dowell), ragan, skinner, nichols

TF score using Trials lower scores: 177.7 rounded down to 177 to account for domestic inflation…

    EF
AA: ragan, nichols, (can also have skinner do AA by replacing ragan bars with skinners)
    VT: skinner (decent medal chance)
ub: (hopeful qualify dowell), locklear (questionable for medal?)
bb: ragan (decent medal chance if hit)
    fx: (hopeful qualify skinner, nichols)

So this team can possibly still pull a gold team if they don’t count any fall and if china doesn’t hit all their routines (given china record, they will likely count at least 1 fall). Podium finishh is still expected from this team if not gold. All in all, not bad for a solid B team! And who knows, they probably can still win a few individual medals 🙂
