NCAA Week 3 Preview and Schedule

The third week of NCAA competition kicks off, as usual, with some SEC match-ups on Friday night.

#3 Florida has an easy night at #52 North Carolina, but this should be a superbly fun meet, as UNC is putting together an equality night supporting diversity and unity, complete with rainbow leos. In the wake of the Trump inauguration earlier today, this is a HUGE statement and I’m thrilled to see the school embracing this stance.

The other SEC meets include #16 Georgia hosting #23 Arkansas (the Gym Dogs improved a ton last week after its opening disaster while the Gymbacks are dealing with the loss of star senior Amanda Wellick, who sadly went down with an Achilles injury during warmups last week), #4 Alabama at #8 Missouri (Mizzou is on FIRE this year, and while Bama is generally a much stronger program, a few slip-ups and the Tigers could very well pull out a win at home), #9 Kentucky hosting #11 Auburn (the Wildcats sold out their arena and are coming off of their top program score in history at Florida last week, so this will be so good), and #2 LSU hosting #59 Texas Women’s (2016 Olympian Ruby Harrold is finally expecting to make her debut in what should be a rout against the Division II program).

We’re also looking forward to #5 Utah hosting a quad meet featuring #7 Denver, their MRGC rival #15 Boise State, and #56 UIC. Utah just lost sophomore Sabrina Schwab to injury, so they’ll have to fill lineup spots on all four events. When the same thing happened to Kari Lee last season, it threw the Red Rocks for a loop at their first meet back without her, so things could get interesting if Denver and Boise step it up…but Utah is also incredibly resilient and is always ready to bring it in front of a stacked home crowd.

Finally, #36 Stanford has yet to climb out of the 193 range after its first two meets this season, dealing with floor issues in week one and then standout Elizabeth Price out due to illness last week. They’re hoping to reinvent themselves at Southern Utah’s season debut. Even though we’re only three weeks in, regular season goes by in a flash and the Cardinal won’t want to have to count any scores that low once the RQS kicks in.

#1 Oklahoma competes on Saturday this weekend, traveling to see fellow Big 12 team #28 West Virginia. Maggie Nichols, Chayse Capps, and the rest of the squad are dominating the rankings after two home meets in a row, but now the Sooners want to prove that they’re just as good on the road. They will. They always do.

Saturday is a busy day, with several top programs seeing action, including #10 Nebraska at #54 Rutgers along with #51 Brown and #57 West Chester, #13 Cal hosting #17 Washington and #48 San Jose State, #18 Ohio State hosting #22 Iowa in what could be a tight Big Ten race, and #19 Oregon State hosting the on fire #26 Northern Illinois and #64 Seattle Pacific.

In comparison, Sunday is relatively quiet, though #12 Michigan is hosting Big Ten rival #19 Illinois which should make for an exciting homecoming for the Wolverines, and #14 George Washington travels to face fellow EAGL team Towson, where they’ll want to keep improving on a strong start to their season thus far.

The full schedule is below. All times listed are ET, the first team listed is the host team, and we’ll update any links as they are updated on each program’s schedule. Once the meet is finished, we’ll replace the links with results. Enjoy!
