I’m surprised with all the 6.0 SV this early in the quad, especially on bars.

It’s impressive that Kenzo Shirai is still pulling out such a high difficulty score on floor in a new code of points. 17.1! IIRC he was getting a 17.3 D score.

Yeah, I think he was training a 7.4 in podium!!

I”m so impressed with Huan and Tingting! I’m so rooting for her to come back after her injury when she would’ve been on the team.

Wow 6.2 and 5.9 on beam are huge in this new code (would’ve been 6.7 and 6.4 in previous code) and so early on! I saw Tingting Han and Wever’s qualifying routines and Tingting and Huan impressed me so much! Absolutely love their routines, and would love to see routines like that go 1-2 at worlds.

Really impressed by the beam routine constructions for Tingting and Huan. The FHS + Yang Bo + Korbut and the RO + layout two-feet + stag ring jump combos were exactly what I was hoping we’d see with the new mixed series bonus.
The B+D (mixed) combo could really be a great asset for gymnasts who excel on difficult dance elements while still being much more interesting than the D (salto) + A (dance) combo from last quad.

I’ve heard good things about them and can’t wait to watch later today! And agree, the mixed series bonus was what I was most excited about this quad. It’s gonna be SO FREAKING GOOD.

The stag rings make me so nostalgic, I just see Mo Huilan when they do that and I LOVE it.

I don’t know how I feel about these new series. They feel a little like the ubiquitous front aerial-pause pause pause- BHS+LOSO to me. But it is basically a second into the new quad, we’ll see what happens.

Not impressed at all by Wevers. She is the most overscored beam in history. Always doing the same things, piruetes is to disguise her totally lack of other skills.

She counts the maximum 5 acro elements in her D score (at least, she did last quad)

Many other gymnasts are ‘doing the same things.’ Everything Sanne does is original and she does a difficult mount and dismount too.

Why did Wang Yan withdraw from the floor final?

She was icing her ankle after training…I’m not sure if it’s serious but hopefully she’ll be back soon!

FYI – In the vault final results you’ve got Chris Renkes listed as representing Japan instead of Australia.
