Who’s Going to Nationals?

I’ve been a little slow with my recaps from the U.S. Classic, because when am I not slow with recaps?! But also I’ve been super busy at work and also a little sick, so just keep your pants on because so many recaps and fun little interviews are coming.

But a few people seem to be a bit confused by the whole ‘qualifying to nationals’ thing, and have asked me to literally spell out how it works and who’s going. So…I will! This isn’t an official list or anything…you’ll have to wait for the announcement from USA Gymnastics for that. But this is most likely close to everyone you can expect to be there, unless we get a surprise or two we didn’t realize qualified through the ranch or made it in thanks to a petition.

With no further ado…

  1. This is unrelated to nationals, but the youth olympics next year in Buenos Aires will be taking place in the fall instead of the summer. Do you think the US will send a junior to that competition considering that nationals won’t be happening simultaneously?

  2. So technically all five “final five” members and Skinner are qualified as well, right? Are they allowed to just show up and do a cartwheel if they feel like it?

  3. Had a small panic attack because I thought Jay Jay Marshall didn’t qualify. Then realized she’s on there as “Jaymes.” Panic attack over! Phew

    • Hahaha yes I usually put no nicknames for like ‘official’ stuff but then interchangeably use real names and nicknames throughout! It can get confusing.
