What did eremina vault/ have you seen d scores? If it was a double that is a low score (especially considering everything is so high.) Or is it a over scored FTY?
LikeLike
I haven’t seen her vault yet but she upgraded to a DTY earlier this year and it wasn’t very good…I could see her going back to her 1.5, which was nice, so it could’ve been that she went back to that and hit it well, or just had a really rough double.

That makes sense! Yeah I was just like ehhh I have no idea what this is lol!!! But yeah I remember that DTY at euros being a little rough…

Scores are too high! I do not believe for a minute that the judging was fair.

Actually if you saw the routines, you would see that the judging wasn’t bad; I’m not saying that all those scores were right on, but with the exception of a couple of the Bars routines, the scoring was pretty accurate. Eremina had big upgrades on floor and Bars, and Melnikova hit her full difficulty routines.

Russia has improved on floor. I was impressed with Kharenkova’s comeback.
Do you know what is wrong with Kapitonova? Is she injured?

I think she just imploded. I’m sure Valentina saying that they were considering no longer working with her after Euros didn’t help her mindset in training.

Yeah Kapi had a total meltdown.

She’s pretty clearly going through puberty (and has been all year) so everything looks like a struggle right now. Hopefully she takes the rest of the year to adjust and comes back next year ready to challenge. Same is true for Seda tbh.

I thought that too looking at the scores, but after seeing Some of the routines, theyre honestly not crazy. Eremina is looking especially amazing with a dlo on floor as well as a triple trist as her last pass, super solid beam and a crazy bar routine Where she connected her Nabieva to her pac and then straight to Chow 1/2! Of course theyre a little bit high but thats every national competition

Eremina seems to have 6.4 D score on UB (if all her skills are credited).

Scores are obvioulsy inflated, but they are in all national competitions ! Nobody thinks that Eremina could have more than 15 on UB at WC.
Gym scores are relative and not absolute values. So, if it’s not relevant to compare Russian Cup with P&G, it makes sense to compare scores into the same competition. So, we can say that Eremina and Melnikova are the best Russian AAers. Kapitonova (the reigning Russian champion) seems today out of the game.We can say that it’s the first time from 2 years that Melnikova hits all of her routines !!! I like this very much !
It seems as well relevant to compare the present scores with the scores these girls got at Russian championships (because the same judges judged I guess). In April, at Russian championships, one month before European championships, Eremina got 52.366 with two falls.
[Just as a reminder, at European championships, at qualifications, she got 55.750 with one fall ; she would have been 4th at P&G with this international score … Not so bad].
And today, Eremina has got 57.950 without any fall. She has got 5.584 more than at Russian championships 5 months ago : we can say she is better and better. And, personally, I consider she is a real contender for podium for next WC.
And Perebinosova ‘s tweedle to Ezhova is just great !

Hopefully they can finally be competitive for podium without mustafina…. cant wait for worlds.. us will finally have real competition?

Good to see Kharenkova back and looking pretty good! Perebinosova finally making her senior debut too. They should definitely be in the picture for next year’s team worlds if they’re healthy.

What happened to Seda? I know she was plagued with inconsistency. Is she hurt or just not competing anymore?

I don’t think she is injured. Probably she just needs a break. And to be between the “old” Mustafina and the baby Eremina may not be so easy.

Seda has been injured this year with a foot injury. I think she only returned to training in mid May so perhaps she wasn’t ready in time

I would be scared if I was Illiankova. If both Melnikova and Eremina outscore her on beam and bars then she’ll get 2-per countried out of her 2 best events at worlds. Paseka’s also looking pretty shaky so I guess the door has been opened for 2 new people. Melnikova and Eremina are locked in my opinion. They could take Kharenkova for floor and beam but she could get 2 per countries out by Melnikova and Eremina. I guess they’ll end up sticking with Paseka and Illiankova, although Kharenkova still has chances.

I agree! Obviously they got 2 AA that are likely to qualify also for the event finals… So I would pick Paseka on vault and a 4th gymnast who’s pretty good on the other 3 events… So if one of the 2 AA fails a routine they will have this third person who could qualify…. They maximize their chances, especially on beam, where we know that falls happen often..

I think Iliankova would be fine. Melnikova’s bars were overscored by about 0.6 in terms of E (I had two brevet judges look at her bars, which got a 14.775 with an 8.575 E, and they came up with an average of 7.9 E without knowing her real score, getting her to a 14.1 which is more realistic for her with that routine). I haven’t seen Iliankova’s bars yet from today but I would imagine they’re cleaner and will score better internationally unless she’s struggling.

I hope for Kharenkova for BB/FX instead Iliankova UB. If Eremina (and also Melka) hit UB, they CAN both qualify to the final and Russia is fine. All have fallen on BB with Kharenkova having the most chances BY FAR to medal. Also Kharenkova’s FX can score out both Melka and Eremina. My pick would definately be Kharenkova for either Paseka (which is not gonna happen) or Iliankova, who’s bars haven’t impressed me and she’s likely to get 2 per countried out.

I was conflicted. Now I agree with Lauren. Kharenkova has been rock solid throughout the entire competition, never scoring below 14 on floor and doing amazing on Beam. I think Kharenkova should go to Montreal over Paseka. Kharenkova has two decent shots at medals. I think it should be Eremina/Melnikova AA, Iliankova UB and Kharenkova BB/FX. I guess they could throw Kharenkova and Iliankova on vault just cause but that would be pointless, and they’re already planning on not putting anyone up on floor with the preliminary team anyway.

World’s will be so interesting I simply can’t wait. I know they will take Paseka because she will definitely medal in the vault and if she hits it will be good so why not. Eremina, melnikova they remind me of the mustafina, komova world championships which was my favourite by far. Then Paseka and Kharenkova. I just wish sedan could come back and hit beam and floor so she can take the place of Kharenkova. I always feel sorry for sedan because of her inconsistencies.
