What’s the difference between this competition and the Junior Championships from last month?

The junior championships were done by CONSUGI, which is basically the South American federation specifically for gymnastics. The Youth Games are a multi-sport event in South America, and so gymnastics was featured, but it was part of that bigger overall system and not just a gym event. CONSUGI runs South American Championships for juniors and seniors every year, and the Youth Games are a new multisport event held every four years, with 2017 the second time it was held. I think most federations took South American Championships a little more seriously at the junior level? Brazil sent a B team, and the top Argentinian junior didn’t go either, so I think Youth Games are still kind of new and federations use them for younger juniors to kind of get used to competing a bit more, so yeah, hopefully that makes sense as an explanation!
