  1. Ok, so, floor judges have been replaced by beam judges? After watching a few routines (the top one), E-score are super low! At least, it’s good for the AA, just need to have UB and vault judges takes the right deductions!

  2. Welcome back Janine Berger! Bummed for Russia, but SO EXCITED FOR BELGIUM and hope they continue to kill it this quad! Nina had a beautiful bars set and looked much more secure on beam compared to her Worlds performance.

  3. I just watched the final. I do really like the Belgium team but I feel like the judging is becoming crazy. I have absolutely no idea what is being deducted and where. I also find it crazy that in elite gymnastics, gymnasts are doing a double back and a 1 1/2 to punch front as their tumbling lines. I think if they are going to crazily judge artistry, they need to make a slight (and only slight) change to difficulty bonuses for those who do a full in (for example) over a double twist. Way too many double tucks.

  4. I’m not sure why the beam scores have been so low as it was crazy to see SO many scores in the 10’s and 11’s (especially from the Russians). Can somebody elaborate as to why? I’ve seen a lot of difficulty scores around 4.5 and I’m thinking maybe the judges are not crediting some of the connections, like possibly the 2 jump connections are too slow and they end up not crediting the gymnastic series requirement? In terms of the execution, the judges are continuing the trend from Worlds and they are really hammering the gymnasts. I’m also wondering if a lot of those deductions are regarding the rhythm and flow of the routines because of lot of them was skill, pause, skill, pause, etc.

    • The code of points changed and is now tremendously more strict. Gymnasts are now deducted for “body position”, “lack of flow”, etc.

  5. If Komova can’t bring back her inbars then could she consider doing a toe-on 1 1/2 and ditching one of her toe-ons for a clear hip circle?
