Three tenths separate the top three teams, with Japan ahead of China and Russia. Out of this world.

4:45 pm. David Rumbutis SWE PB: Another fall here. Ugh. I want to die for him. He looks so upset.

4:41 pm. Milad Karimi KAZ PB: Pike up to handstand, arched over the handstand out of a pirouette and came off. UGH. Gets the pirouette this time, front straddle salto, Bhavsar, presses to handstand, Tippelt, slow and steady, Ono was nice to handstand, step on the double front half-out.

4:36 pm. I don’t know what’s happening on p-bars with the scoring, it’s been taking 5+ minutes between routines?

4:31 pm. Tyson Bull AUS PB: Pretty controlled routine, no real errors, good transitions, solid handstands…just a big hop forward on the piked double back.

4:28 pm. Giarnni Regini Moran GBR PH: Had a fall.

Arthur Mariano BRA FX: Sat his last pass.

Pablo Brägger SUI HB: I can’t tell if he fell at the very start of his routine or if the arena was replaying Baumann’s fall. Layout Tkachev to mixedg grip, layout Tkachev, hop full, double double layout stuck. We’ll see what happened at the beginning once we see his score, I suppose.

4:25 pm. Christian Baumann SUI HB: Had a VERY hard fall and it took him a minute to get up, what a bummer. Finished the routine though.

Max Whitlock GBR PH: I wasn’t watching closely but he had a solid hit routine.

4:24 pm. Tanigawa Wataru JPN VT: Something double pike, tsuk I assume, crashed it off the mat. Doesn’t do a second vault.

4:20 pm. Eddy Yusof SUI HB: Layout Tkachev, then a straddle, then a straddle to mixed grip.

Diogo Soares BRA FX: Stuck double double! 2.5 to barani. Double full stuck. Stuck the triple full with a little arm wiggle to hold it.

Eleftherios Petrounias GRE SR: Begining looked good, planche to iron cross, easy, invert hang, through to iron cross, saltos up to handstand, looks good from here, stuck the double double dismount.

Hashimoto Daiki JPN VT: Huge kaz double!

4:19 pm. Kaya Kazuma JPN VT: Hands down on his kaz double, lord.

4:18 pm. Francisco Barretto BRA FX: Hit his first few passes. 2.5 with a step forward at the end.

Benjamin Gischard SUI HB: Started out with a hit! Swiss guys doing work today.

4:08 pm. Artur Davtyan ARM PH: hit routine!

4:07 pm. Arthur Mariano BRA HB: I wasn’t typing at the beginning but he got all of his releases, he had a rough spot on a tak half, but recovered, big hop back on the double double dismount, and a scream from him too.

4:05 pm. Daniel Corral MEX PH: Had a fall in the middle of his routine.

Tanigawa Wataru JPN SR: Saltos through to iron cross, arms bent, again hips really high on his straddle planche but he corrects in the middle, holding handstands well, double double with a big hop back.

4:04 pm. Milad Karimi KAZ VT: Hit the Dragulescu, but then crashed the kaz double second vault. UGHHH.

4:03 pm. Caio Souza BRA HB: Kolman, some leg separation, layout Tkachev also with legs apart, straddle Tkachev to mixed grip, legs fully apart on a pirouette, Yamawaki, again with the legs!!! Literally everything. Stuck the double double layout dismount at least.

4:01 pm. Hashimoto Daiki JPN SR: Hips looked too high on his straddle planche, short on a handstand, stuck the double double dismount.

Giarnni Regini Moran GBR FX: Couldn’t tell if the first pass was a full or double twisting double layout, step back. Some pike in that. Double double with a hop back. Stuck the double front pike half. Tiny hop on the double front pike. Front double full to barani. Slide back on the double full. Tiny step on the triple full.

3:59 pm. Le Thanh Tung VIE VT: Second vault is a kaz 1.5 with a hop forward.

Francisco Barretto BRA HB: One-arm pirouette, caught three Tkachevs in a row, ending in a mixed grip, then a layout Tkachev to mixed grip, amazing, Yamawaki to Endo full, stuck the full-twisting double layout and SCREAMS, Yessss!!!

Eddy Yusof SUI PB: I meant to watch this but apparently forgot.

3:56 pm. Le Thanh Tung VIE VT: Handspring randi, short, sits it. I HATE VAULT.

Joe Fraser GBR FX: I caught it from the double double, hit the front double full to barani after. Hit the last pass.

3:55 pm. James Hall FX: Hop back on his double double, front double full to barani, small step on the triple full.

David Rumbutis SWE VT: Sat his vault, ugh. He had such a great podium training but has had a tough time today. Also crashed his second vault. What a bummer, looks so dejected.

Diogo Soares BRA HB: Layout Tkachev to mixed grip, a couple more good Tkachevs after that, hit the dismount. Good!

3:47 pm. Kameyama Kohei JPN PH: One-arm pirouete, almost right into his handstand pirouettes before going back down to flairs, he’s so great. Circles back and forth across the horse, lovely work into the dismount.

3:44 pm. Daniel Corral MEX FX: Piked double front, front double full to barani, both solid. 2.5 to front tuck, legs were messy in the tuck. Double full stuck. Triple full to finish, step back.

Hashimoto Daiki JPN PH: Starts out in huge beautiful flair work. So quick and fluid. Got his legs stuck at one part while transitioning, and again transitioning down from a handstand. Hit the horse both times it looked like from here. Circles on the handles and between are good, high hips, back to flairs to travel, good transition out of them, really rushed into his dismount. Parts were brilliant, parts were rough.

3:42 pm. Max Whitlock GBR HB: A little arched in some of his giants, Yamawaki to Endo half, one-arm pirouette, tak, stalder, hop full, stuck the dismount!

3:41 pm. Uche Eke NGR FX: Hit the passes at the beginning, 2.5 at the end was good.

Kaya Kazuma JPN PH: Scissor work is nice, into circles on the handles, hits his flairs, just need him to point his feet! Hit the dismount and yelled and fist-pumped. A happy Kazuma!

3:39 pm. Joe Fraser GBR HB: Gaylord! Nice, Layout Tkachev, Cassina, Kolman, one-arm front pirouette, a couple of weird catches on pirouettes after that, but he’s not being bothered by it, hit the dismount with his feet apart.

3:38 pm. Pablo Brägger SUI VT: Crashed his kaz 1.5, ugh.

David Rumbutis SWE SR: I looked over just as he had crashed his dismount.

3:36 pm. Kitazono Takeru JPN PH: Nice flair work throughout. Good extension. Had a little struggle with a couple of his transitions between elements but nothing severe.

Eddy Yusof SUI VT: Tsuk double pike, step forward! YAS.

James Hall GBR HB: Cassina, Kovacs, Kolman, all good! Yamawaki, hop full, small step back on the dismount. Great!

Benjamin Gischard SUI VT: Kaz 1.5, step on the landing.

8. David Belyavskiy RUS 43.625

3:25 pm. Daniel Corral MEX HB: Yamawaki to Endo, one-arm front pirouette, big Tkachev, straddle Tkachev to mixed grip, Endo full a bit late, full-twisting double layout with a step back.

3:23 pm. James Hall GBR PB: Another hit routine but I wasn’t watching closely at all.

Hashimoto Daiki JPN FX: Double double, step back OOB. Front full to randi, good. 2.5 to front double full. 1.5 to rudi. Double full stuck. Triple full stuck!

Joe Fraser GBR PB: Good with his salto work, had one part that looked a bit iffy, but I think mostly he was fine, I was watching out of the corner of my eye, walked out of one of his pirouettes a bit, stuck the double front half!

3:19 pm. Arthur Mariano BRA VT: Really deep, Yurchenko double I think?

Kitazono Takeru JPN FX: Hit his first pass, then a double double with a hop back. Randi with a small hop. 1.5 to front double full with a small hop. 2.5 to front full stuck. Hit the last pass.

Uche Eke NGR HB: Legs wild on his releases, off on the Kolman.

Giarnni Regini Moran GBR PB: Hit routine but I saw almost none of it.

Benjamin Gischard SUI SR: Straddle planche, hit the dismount, a full-in half-out I think.

Matvei Petrov ALB PH: Good routine, looks happy with it!

3:17 pm. Caio Souza BRA VT: Hit but I didn’t see what he did. Second was a really strong Dragulescu, almost stuck!

Tanigawa Wataru JPN FX: Front double full I think to rudi, Piked double front half out is deep but hit. Piked double front. Clean double full. 2.5 to front tuck full. Hit the last pass.

David Huddleston BUL HB: Huge Tkachevs but his legs were a mess on both, had to pause on the bar for a second.

3:16 pm. Francisco Barretto BRA VT: Think he did a kaz full, hit.

Max Whitlock GBR PB: Clean work at the start, piked double back with a small step.

3:14 pm. Kaya Kazuma JPN FX: Good double front half-out. Step back on the piked double front. Had a weird punch barani out of the third pass, but the one after that was good. Hop back on the triple full.

Milad Karimi KAZ PH: Some leg separation throughout but a hit routine.

Pablo Brägger SUI SR: Hit routine.

Diogo Soares BRA VT: Nice hit kaz full.

Rene Cournoyer CAN HB: Tak half, good connected Tkachevs, Yamawaki, hop on the dismount.

3:11 pm. Rotation 2 Standings

2. Xiao Ruoteng CHN 30.100

3:09 pm. Ugh, just realized I missed Arthur Zanetti’s rings, but he got a 14.9, currently second!

3:06 pm. Uchimura Kohei JPN HB: Gets the Bretschneider! Cassina caught close but gets it, Kolman, my heart, stalder 1.5, misses his hand and FLIES off, HARD vall. That was ROUGH. Gets it the second time, tak full arched throughout, to Yamawaki, tak half, hop full, and a full-twisting double layout with a hop.

3:05 pm. Uche Eke NGR PB: Pike salto to handstand, another clean handstand after that, walks a little out of one after that and was a bit short/arched in a pirouette, clean press to handstand, piked double back dismount good!

3:04 pm. Hashimoto Daiki JPN HB: Huge Cassina, very straight body line, huge Kolman as well, layout Tkachev to straddle Tkachev to mixed grip, tak full almost right in vertical, Yamawaki after that, hop full, came off a little low for his dismount but still got it around no problem, small hop.

3:03 pm. Benjamin Gischard SUI PH: Really had to muscle up into his handstand pirouettes, that part was a bit rough, but good job getting back in rhythm. Solid finish.

3:01 pm. Tomas Gonzalez CHI FX: Hit his double double and the pass after that. I think a 2.5 to barani, it was very clean and floaty. Triple full to finish, step back. The fact that he’s here is just making me so happy, and he’s grinning from ear to ear.

David Huddleston BUL PB: Had a fall on top of the bars, ugh. Good straddle salto and Tippelt, double front dismount with a tiny hop.

3:00 pm. Kitazono Takeru JPN HB: Yamawaki, tak half, a little late, huge Cassina, WILD Kolman, no idea how he caught it, stuck the double double layout dismount. OKAY!

Pablo Brägger SUI PH: Hit routine!

Rene Cournoyer CAN PB: I missed this unfortunately.

Also missed Caio Souza on rings.

2:57 pm. Giarnni Regini Moran GBR VT: Hit his kaz double! Really strong. But crashes his second vault, the Dragulescu.

David Rumbutis SWE FX: Fell on the pass before his double full side pass. Good triple full to finish.

Christian Baumann SUI PH: Good routine, got a little stuck in the handstand before the dismount but overall strong.

2:55 pm. Daniel Corral MEX PB: Some great handstands in this, clean Tippelt, really slow and steady with his movement, arched a little in a handstand after and had a big step back on the double front half-out dismount, looked a bit rough there.

Francisco Barretto BRA SR: Straddle planche, pike hold pressed to handstand, good, hit the rest and the dismount.

Tanigawa Wataru JPN HB: Caught releases at the beginning, layout Tkachev to mixed grip, stalder, double double layout with a hop forward. I didn’t type everything but he got everything.

2:55 pm. Joe Fraser GBR VT: Kaz double, a little short and somewhat messy but he stood it up.

2:53 pm. Milad Karimi KAZ FX: Stuck the double front half-out and hit the next few passes but I wasn’t typing on any of them. Lovely triple full to ifnish.

Eddy Yusof SUI PH: Had a fall midway through.

James Hall GBR VT: Stuck his kaz 1.5. HA!!! Almost like podium training DID NOT MATTER.

— Milad Karimi KAZ 14.766
8. Xiao Ruoteng CHN 14.700

2:45 pm. Kitazono Takeru JPN PB: Front pike to handstand, holds it for hours, one-arm pirouette out of it, another good handstand after, really arched in a pirouette after that and walked his hands a bit, big straddle salto, Tippelt, looked like he stuck or was close to sticking the double front half-out.

Uche Eke NGR VT: Kaz full, good!

2:44 pm. Benjamin Gischard SUI FX: Small hop back on the randi, good double front half-out, hit the next two passes, wasn’t typing during most of the rest but he hit everything well, triple full to finish was a little shy in rotation though.

David Rumbutis SWE HB: Yamawaki, caught a Kovacs I think, and a Tkachev, a little late coming out of some of his circling elements, clean full-twisting double layout with a step back.

Tanigawa Wataru JPN PB: I missed this. Great score though, 15.241. P-bars will be an impossible final to make.

2:43 pm. David Huddleston BUL VT: Step to the side on his kaz 1.5.

2:42 pm. Arthur Mariano BRA PH: I missed this but he looked happy at the end.

Rene Cournoyer CAN VT: Ran back out of his Dragulescu.

2:40 pm. Artur Davtyan ARM VT: Second vault was a GORGEOUS stuck Dragulescu!! Amazing.

Pablo Brägger SUI FX: Double double with a little stumble back. Landed his 2.5 to front full OOB. Great triple full to finish.

Milad Karimi KAZ HB: Ugh I missed everything except the dismount, a great double double layout.

Hashimoto Daiki JPN PH: I missed this except from the dismount, don’t think he had any major mistakes though.

2:39 pm. Artur Davtyan ARM VT: Huge air on his kaz double!! Landing could’ve been cleaner but that was a great start.

Francisco Barretto BRA PH: A little clunky at the beginning but found his rhythm quickly after that. Body line is pretty straight for the most part. Good!

Giarnni Regini Moran GBR SR: I missed a lot of this but he had a solid double double dismount.

2:37 pm. Caio Souza BRA PH: Russians in between the pommels, nice, hit routine with a nice big scream at the end.

Tyson Bull AUS HB: Tak half, Kovacs, Cassina, both strong, layout Kovacs good, huge Yamawaki, solid on his front circles, super clean full-twisting double layout, small step back.

Christian Baumann SUI FX: Randi, hit the second and third passes. Double full side pass. 2.5 with a small hop.

Daniel Corral MEX VT: Didn’t see what he did but a good landing. Kaz full maybe.

2:35 pm. Le Thanh Tung VIE HB: Hit routine, had a solid dismount.

Shek Wai Hung HKG VT: Handspring double front pike half with his hands down, KILL ME.

Kaya Kazuma JPN PB: Basket half to handstand was very fluid, overall moving well, nice transition to the single rail but his feet looked like they got stuck for a second as he pressed to handstand, stuck the double front half.

2:33 pm. Eddy Yusof FX: Step back on the double double. Front double full to barani, good. Full-In with a step back at the end. The rest was hit.

Diogo Soares BRA PH: Good routine! A few little things but overall solid, no hesitations.

James Hall GBR SR: Everything I saw was great, tiny step back on the double double dismount.

Shek Wai Hung HKG VT: I think he did the tsuk double back to start, very strong, good landing.

2:30 pm. Touch warmups are beginning now.

2:29 pm. Athletes are in the arena for subdivision two!

  1. Aren’t most of these men ashamed to be doing less difficult stuff than Simone? Yurchenko double for a MEN’s vault, seriously? How do they sleep at night?

  2. 2:42 pm. Arthur Mariano BRA PH: I missed this but he looked happy at the end.

He actually skipped PH after the other three from Brazil didn’t fall. Same on rings.

  3. Why is Brazil not fighting for qualifying the team? They will probably end 9th or 10th but Arthur is skipping his routines.

    • He was “saving” himself for HB and obviously that was a total disaster. I could smell that coming from miles away.
