2022 American Classic Live Blog

Welcome to the live blog for the American Classic, held in Katy, Texas!

Please refresh your browser every few minutes to see the most recent updates, which will appear at the top of the page.

1. Amelia Disidore 51.800 Q
2. Marissa Neal 49.050 Q
3. Adriana Consoli 22.150
4. Camryn Richardson 10.400

Amelia gets her all-around nationals score, while Marissa fell short due to her balk on vault. She did qualify with a two-event score via bars and beam, but if she can hit vault at the U.S. Classic she should get her AA score pretty easily.

1. Annalisa Milton 50.700 Q
2. Kieryn Finnell 50.300 Q
3. Sage Bradford 50.150 Q
4. Malea Milton 49.800 Q
5. Norah Christian 49.650 Q
6. Izzy Stassi 49.150
7. Eveylynn Lowe 48.700
8. Finley Weldon 48.150
9. Sydney Snyder 47.950
– Paige Wills 47.950
11. Carsyn Coleman 47.750
12. Taylor McMahon 47.650
13. Anabelle Dewey 44.850
14. Carly Weinberg 43.850
15. Jazmyn Jimenez 35.350

The top five all qualify to nationals, though Finnell already did at the Pan Ams camp the other day, as did Stassi, who fell a few tenths short today, but had a 49.5 exactly at Monday’s competition. Everyone else will have one more shot at the U.S. Classic.

7:08 pm. Sage Bradford FX: Double tuck at the beginning. I didn’t see the rest. 12.200 (4.4 D)

Annalisa Milton UB: Toe full to Maloney, had to do a couple of giants before the Pak, back on the high bar she has a blind change to Jaeger, big double layout with a good landing. Aside from beam this was a pretty great day for her! 12.200 (5.0 D)

7:06 pm. Eveylynn Lowe UB: I wasn’t typing during this, had some funky form things at the beginning, but cleaned up as she went through, and dismounted with a high clean open double tuck. 10.900 (4.2 D)

7:04 pm. Finley Weldon FX: Double tuck. 1.5 to front layout, some form. 12.000 (4.4 D)

Izzy Stassi VT: She nailed a Yurchenko 1.5 in the touch! Some knee form here but again, solid. 13.600 (4.6 D)

Jazmyn Jimenez BB: Very clean flight series. Switch leap, pause before the sissone. Side aerial into a jump. Double full with a bit of a stumble back. 11.900 (4.6 D)

7:03 pm. Amelia Disidore UB: I had to get up and missed a lot of this but think she fully hit the routine. Had a nice dismount. 11.150 (4.1 D)

7:00 pm. Carsyn Coleman FX: Nice arabian double front! Lovely Memmel turn. Double tuck at the end was a little deep. 12.050 (4.8 D)

Carly Weinberg VT: Yurchenko layout half, she almost barely clears the table, but she landed it! Had a scary-ish fall in the touch. 12.300 (3.8 D)

6:58 pm. Anabelle Dewey BB: Came off on her mount. Bhs loso with a check. Came off again on something after that. Double pike dismount. 10.150 (4.4 D)

Kieryn Finnell VT: Clean FTY! 12.950 (4.2 D)

Malea Milton UB: I wasn’t typing during a lot of this. Caught a Jaeger and had a double layout dismount that went really high but not very far. 11.350 (4.9 D)

6:54 pm. Sydney Snyder FX: Hit the first pass I saw her do. Really deep on her last pass. 11.200 (4.3 D)

Marissa Neal UB: I missed the beginning, saw her hit a van Leeuwen, clear hip, toe half to straddle Jaeger, very nice. Good double layout! 12.700 (5.3 D)

Norah Christian VT: FTY, iffy form, lunge back. 12.950 (4.2 D)

Taylor McMahon BB: Ugh, I missed this! 13.000 (5.4 D)

6:53 pm. Warmups are wrapping up for the final rotation!

6:49 pm. Paige Wills FX: Double tuck, step back. 2.5 to front pike, nice landing! Double pike, high and tight. Nice routine! 11.950 (4.3 D)

6:47 pm. Finley Weldon BB: Bhs loso, some leg form but solid. Front aerial, full turn, side aerial, good save on a wobble. Switch leap, not close to a split. Split jump to sissone. 2.5 dismount with a big step over. 12.350 (4.5 D)

6:45 pm. Carly Weinberg FX: Double pike I think to start. Front layout to front full. She has a really fun routine and the most creative way to get into a wolf turn position, love that for her. Double tuck. Double L turn. Good work! Nice comeback after bars and beam. 11.800 (4.5 D)

6:43 pm. Carsyn Coleman BB: Came off on something early on. Ooh, full Y turn! a little iffy on one of her jumps into a series, wobbled on some acro there but good fight to steady it. Double tuck dismount. 10.500 (5.0 D)

Jazmyn Jimenez UB: Maloney to Pak, toe shoot, hit the dismount. Had other stuff in there I didn’t see. 11.750 (3.9 D)

6:41 pm. Kieryn Finnell FX: Piked full-in, nice. She still has the “My Favorite Things” routine! Memmel turn. Double tuck with a slide back. 1.5 to front layout. Some really cutesy choreo. Double pike, nice landing. Good work. 12.600 (5.0 D)

6:40 pm. Eveylynn Lowe VT: FTY, not a ton of power, but good landing. 12.800 (4.2 D)

6:39 pm. Sydney Snyder BB: Wolf turn, I missed some stuff after that, had a switch leap, pause, back tuck. Stuck the double full dismount. 11.950 (4.2 D)

Anabelle Dewey UB: Maloney to Pak, clear hip to Ray, blind change to piked Jaeger, fall. Hit the dismount. 9.950 (4.4 D)

Amelia Disidore VT: Ooh, DTY! Maybe twisted too slowly in the first rotation and had to really push the other one around, but good landing! 14.250 (5.0 D)

6:38 pm. Norah Christian FX: Tucked full-in, good. Arabian double front, small step forward. Hop back on the double tuck. 12.750 (5.0 D)

Malea Milton VT: Yurchenko 1.5, big lunge forward. Looked a bit rushed. 13.500 (4.6 D)

6:37 pm. Taylor McMahon UB: blind change to front giant to big straddle Jaeger. Pak with straddled legs. Ray to high, stuck the double tuck. 11.900 (4.1 D)

6:35 pm. Sage Bradford BB: Thank you whoever just said “come on Sage, you got it!” Hit her flight series, just some leg form. Hit the rest from what I saw. 12.950 (4.6 D)

Marissa Neal VT: Yurchenko tuck, not sure if that was intended? I doubt it. Looked like she just misjudged and did a timer. 11.500 (3.0 D)

6:34 pm. Izzy Stassi FX: Hit her first pass but I didn’t see what it was. 2.5 with a lunge forward. 1.5 to front full. Double tuck, lunge back. 12.650 (5.1 D)

Annalisa Milton VT: Yurchenko 1.5, excellent! Great landing there. 13.800 (4.6 D)!

Adriana Consoli UB: I missed this. 9.650 (3.9 D)

6:30 pm. Touch warm-ups for the third rotation! I think I have figured out like 75% of who’s who based on leos. The Milton twins are tricky, as are the two blonde WOGA girls. But I think I know who everyone else is?!

I think it was Annalisa Milton with the Dos Santos on floor, btw!

6:28 pm. Finally like two scores just came up on the video, amazing!

6:26 pm. Carly Weinberg BB: Hit the wolf turn. Onodi! Form issues but get it. Hit the jump series. Went for a bhs loso loso but her knees were way off in the second one and she just kinda chucked a back tuck off the beam out of it. Front aerial when she got back on, then a side aerial, but comes up short and falls again. Double full with a step. 10.600 (4.8 D)

6:24 pm. Amelia Disidore FX: Double layout, nice. Tucked full-in, small hop forward. Double wolf turn. Switch half. 1.5 to front full with a lunge forward but a nice cover, makes it dance-y. Hit the last pass. 13.100 (5.2 D)

6:21 pm. Kieryn Finnell BB: Off on the flight series at the beginning sadly! Wolf jump to sissone, front aerial to split jump to back handspring, jumps are a little short overall. Nice switch side. Double pike, a little deep with a hop. 11.650 (5.0 D)

Malea Milton FX: Double layout, chest down, but solid landing. High double pike with a good landing. Whipped around a front layout out of her third pass. 12.600 (5.0 D)

6:16 pm. Marissa Neal FX: Arabian double front, clean, a couple of steps back. Tucked full-in, a little low. 2.5 to front pike, looked like she put her hands down on the last pass. 11.250 (4.7 D)

Norah Christian BB: Full turn, sissone to split jump to bhs loso, love the series, the split jump just looked a little low, punch front tuck. Switch to switch half to back tuck, another great series, but the splits need some work. Ugh, off on the side somi after a big wobble. Double full, almost stuck, some leg form. 11.750 (5.1 D)

6:15 pm. Carsyn Coleman UB: Blind change to piked Jaeger, Pak, bent over a little out of a kip on the low bar, toe shoot to the high bar was a little close, blind full a bit late, double layout dismount with a lunge back. Little form things but nice hit. 11.800 (4.6 D)

6:12 pm. Annalisa Milton FX: Dos Santos!!! Very nice. Huge double layout, small hop. 1.5 to front full was a little messy. Double tuck with a big bounce back. 13.200 (5.3 D)

Sydney Snyder UB: Hit everything at the beginning, caught her Pak, double tuck with a small hop. 11.650 (3.8 D)

Izzy Stassi BB: I missed this routine unfortunately! Just saw her dismounting. 12.200 (4.8 D)

6:10 pm. Sage Bradford UB: Tkachev, blind full to a low Pak, van Leeuwen, high stuck double tuck. 12.100 (4.7 D)

Taylor McMahon VT: Yurchenko layout, I think it was supposed to be, but she piked it down considerably. Just doesn’t have the power. 11.350 (3.2 D)

Okay, all of the start lists are wrong AND they’re not showing scores so I’m just going to start guessing who’s where and doing what.

6:07 pm. Eveylynn Lowe FX: I loved the way she finished a full turn at the beginning, into a kind of lunge, that was very cool. 2.5 to punch front, good landing. Switch ring to switch side. Double pike with a little hop. Double full with some messy legs and a hop. 12.300 (4.2 D)

Paige Wills BB: Didn’t see a lot of this, will try to figure out who this was when the score comes up. Looked like a hit set, though. 11.700 (4.6 D)

6:06 pm. Second rotation should start in a second!

6:03 pm. That’s it for this rotation. High score was definitely Marissa Neal’s 13.6 on beam. Still missing a few scores…I only happened to see that one and Kieryn Finnell’s pop up on the video screen. Since the live results aren’t working anymore I’ll try to keep an eye on the screen more this rotation.

6:00 pm. Malea Milton BB: Front aerial, bhs loso loso, nice power and control there, switch leap to sissone, pause into a split jump half, full turn, split jump to straddle jump, big side aerial, double full with a hop back. Little form things throughout but a solid set. 12.350 (4.9 D)

5:58 pm. No scores have come in for quite some time. I think we still have one of the Miltons left to go on beam. Based on the start list, I think Malea went first? But the start list orders are like picking a number out of a hat today so truly who knows.

5:56 pm. Marissa Neal BB: Switch leap to wolf jump, bhs loso loso had bent legs throughout but a solid landing, floaty side aerial, full L turn, front aerial, side somi, big clean double pike! Flight series knees aside this was an excellent routine. 13.600 (5.1 D)

5:54 pm. Kieryn Finnell UB: Toe-on to Maloney to Pak, clean! Stalder to van Leeuwen, tiny leg separation. Blind change to straddle Jaeger, doesn’t get huge height but catches it. Blind full, and a full-in with a great landing. 13.100 (5.3 D)

5:52 pm. Norah Christian UB: Had a nice Pak and van Leeuwen. Blind full, blind change to piked Jaeger, she has tiny little form things that will bite her but overall this is very nicely done. Clean open double tuck dismount. 12.200 (4.8 D)

5:50 pm. Annalisa Milton BB: Front aerial, some knee bend and an iffy landing, but pulls it together. Bhs loso loso, doesn’t get the amplitude she needs and comes off. Hit her leap series, just slow into a switch side. Hit a side somi. Double full dismount. 11.500 (4.6 D)

Taylor McMahon FX: Double pike, super low set but gets it around with her chest down on the landing. Little stumble on the 1.5 to front full. Sat the 2.5 at the end.

5:47 pm. Izzy Stassi UB: I caught it from her huge Ray to Pak, very nice! Big air on the van Leeuwen. Blind change to huge straddle Jaeger, unfortunately misses the catch. Back on for a blind full, and a double layout dismount, good landing. 10.700 (4.1 D)

Sydney Snyder VT: Solid FTY, looked decently powerful. 13.150 (4.2 D)

They’re not putting the names up on the screens and some are going out of order based on the start lists I have, and it’s hard to see who’s who on a tiny screen, so when I can’t tell who someone is I’m just going to put the event and add their name later. #ControlledChaos

5:45 pm. Eveylynn Lowe BB: Really solid flight series.Front aerial to split jump to Korbut, also good. Big lunge back on the double full dismount. 12.700 (5.2 D)

Camryn Richardson FX: Tucked full-in was a little messy in the air but solid on the landing. Double tuck very powerful, but landed OOB. Crashed the double pike at the end. She has such a powerful run and back handspring but NO set, so everything’s going far but not UP. 10.400 (4.4 D)

Sage Bradford VT: FTY, nothing majorly wrong with it. 12.900 (4.2 D)

5:43 pm. Paige Wills UB: I think she had an Endo half to Chow to start, Pak, toe full…ugh, arched over and came off halfway through. Caught a release when she got back on. Double layout had a little pike to it and a baby step on the landing. 11.250 (4.5 D)

Finley Weldon VT: FTY, decent in the air at the beginning, step back. 12.950 (4.2 D)

5:41 pm. Amelia Disidore BB: Hit everything I saw, nothing major wrong with it (again, that I saw)…nice double pike dismount. 13.300 (5.5 D)

Anabelle Dewey FX: Arabian double front I think at the start, had a little bit of a low landing and slid. Also a big landing error on the tucked full-in but controlled it in the end. Double pike, a little deep. Double tuck with a wild landing as well. She stayed up for all of her passes, at least! 11.550 (5.1 D)

Carsyn Coleman VT: Looked like an FTY, big lunge back. 13.400 (4.2 D)

Carly Weinberg UB: Rough routine whenever I looked over, sadly…slipped off the high bar at one point and landed on her back, also went over on a pirouette on the low bar and sat her double tuck dismount. 9.150 (3.8 D)

5:40 pm. Start lists and live scores are on myusagym.com, by the way.

5:38 pm. It looks like a couple of athletes who were expected here have since withdrawn, most notably Lexi Zeiss, who made the Pan Ams team, as well as Ciena Alipio for seniors. Only four in the senior group here today…ICYMI, it’s juniors and seniors competing together.

5:35 pm. Athletes are heading to their first events!

VT – Carsyn Coleman, Finley Weldon, Sage Bradford, Sydney Snyder

UB – Carly Weinberg, Izzy Stassi, Kieryn Finnell, Norah Christian, Paige Wills

BB – Amelia Disidore, Annalisa Milton, Eveylynn Lowe, Malea Milton, Marissa Neal

FX – Adriana Consoli, Anabelle Dewey, Camryn Richardson, Jazmyn Jimenez, Taylor McMahon

  2. Russian cup results? I know they are forever banned from international competitions (can’t see how FIG would allow them to compete given the strong ties of Russian gymnastics with Putler) and even if they do I think judges will just hammer them so they might as well retire unless they are fine with just performing nationally.
