2. Joel Alvarez CHI 13.325
3. Diogo Soares BRA 13.275
4. Santiago Mayol ARG 12.600
5. Andrés Martinez COL 12.075
6. Luciano Letelier CHI 12.000
7. Edward Rolin VEN 11.375
8. Julian Jato ARG 10.500

5:18 pm. Edward Rolin VEN HB: Had a fall on a release and the double double layout was really close to the bar. 11.375 (4.4, 6.975)

5:14 pm. Caio Souza BRA HB: Sorry, I can’t type for a few minutes but this was a very strong routine for the most part, the tak full was a bit of a mess but everything else was solid! Big double double layout dismount to finish. 14.150 (6.3, 7.850)

5:12 pm. Julian Jato ARG HB: Wasn’t typing but he had a really close catch on a Tkachev and had to circle around the bar in a bit of a tuck, and then he pinged off early for his dismount, ended up basically doing a double tuck, but he stretched out the second salto so it was a bit more laid-out…still landed short and put his hands down. 10.500 (4.3, 6.200)

5:08 pm. Luciano Letelier CHI HB: I was very excited about him when he was a junior, he has lots of great stuff…unfortunately starts off with a mistake here as his tak full finishes the wrong way and goes over, tak half, layout Tkachev, huge straddle Tkachev, hop full, blind change to Endo, stalder, full-twisting double layout, deep with a lunge forward. 12.000 (4.5, 7.500)

5:03 pm. Andrés Martinez COL HB: Endo half, layout Tkachev, form is a bit wild in the Rybalko, some L grip work with iffy leg form, straddle Tkachev, stalder, hop full, full-twisting double layout, oof, back on his heels and has a massive stumble back to keep from sitting it down. The crowd was rooting for him throughout that near-fall! 12.075 (5.0, 7.075)

5:01 pm. Joel Alvarez CHI HB: Tak full almost to vertical, very nice. Yamawaki, hop full, Endo, tak half, stalder, I feel like he did a release that I didn’t note? My brain is all over the place. Tucked double double dismount with a good landing. Really clean work throughout! 13.325 (5.0, 8.325)

4:57 pm. Diogo Soares BRA HB: Hit some front pirouettes at the beginning, I think a forward inbar, tak full, tak half…huge lovely Kovacs, layout Tkachev connected to a straddle Tkachev, piked Tkachev, hop full, and a full-twisting double layout, big hop forward. 13.275 (5.5, 7.775)

4:55 pm. Santiago Mayol ARG HB: Yamawaki, layout Tkachev, straddle Tkachev, looking good so far, blind change to front giant to Tak, Endo, stalder, great handstand out of it, dismounts with a clean full-twisting double layout, tiny bounce. Very nice! 12.600 (4.6, 8.000)

4:43 pm. Women’s Floor Final Standings

1. Julia Soares BRA 13.700
2. Carolyne Pedro BRA 13.067
3. Hillary Heron PAN 12.967
4. Barbara Achondo CHI 12.467
5. Franchesca Santi CHI 12.433
6. Brisa Carraro ARG 12.333
7. Alais Perea ECU 12.233
8. Rocio Saucedo ARG 12.167

Parallel Bars Standings

1. Jossimar Calvo COL 14.525
2. Caio Souza BRA 14.300
3. Dilan Jimenez COL 13.975
4. Julian Jato ARG 13.575
5. Lucas Bitencourt BRA 13.275
6. Edward Rolin VEN 13.200
7. Santiago Mayol ARG 13.125
8. Edward Gonzales PER 11.925

4:42 pm. Santiago Mayol ARG PB: Some great vertical positions on his handstands. Tippelt was super smooth, big hop forward on the double front half dismount. 13.125 (5.1, 8.025)

4:38 pm. Brisa Carraro ARG FX: Double tuck, some slight leg separation and lunge forward out of it. 1.5 to front layout, good. Switch leap through to switch half, stumbles the Memmel turn around, layout full with a hop back at the end. Some lovely work in there but idk if her D will be high enough to get on the podium? She looked downgraded from quals actually.

4:36 pm. Dilan Jimenez COL PB: Really excellent transition to handstand on the single bar, Makuts had a little ankle form break, Tippelt was a little stuck before going into handstand, massive Bhavsar, up to L sit, presses to a clean handstand, and another full-in off the end of the bars, this was really nice! 13.975 (5.9, 8.075)

4:34 pm. Carolyne Pedro BRA FX: Arabian double front, some knee form and a step, did she do a whip into this? I think she did. Double tuck with a little hop back. Split jump full, double full with some leg form, finishes with a double pike, small step back. 13.067 (5.1, 7.967)

4:32 pm. Jossimar Calvo COL PB: Arched over on a cast to the single rail but corrects, one-arm pirouette to a nice handstand, kinda stumbled out the Makuts, big Bhavsar right to the end, a little short on the handstand, dismounts with a full-in off the end of the bars, love that. Mostly good work! 14.525 (6.7, 7.825)!!

4:30 pm. Alais Perea ECU FX: Double tuck, hop back. Strong split jump full. Switch ring to switch half. Good landing on the front layout full. Switch side. Double full looks like she got a little lost, leg form is kind of everywhere and the landing rotation is weird, but until that moment at the end this was a great routine. 12.233 (4.4, 7.833)

Edward Rolin VEN PB: 13.200 (5.4, 7.800)

4:26 pm. Franchesca Santi CHI FX: Full-in, chest forward but I don’t think her feet move. Hop L turn, gets that leg WELL above 90 degrees just like her teammate Barbara Achondo, love that for Chile. 2.5 to front layout ends up OOB. Lots of her choreo moments are genius, this program’s artistry is next-level. Triple full to finish, step back, but this was great! 12.433 (4.8, 7.733, -0.1 ND)

4:23 pm. Julian Jato ARG PB: Another routine where I wasn’t typing, it just happens so fast after floor and I’m still trying to collect myself hahaha, but this was really nice! No major mistakes, good landing on the dismount. 13.575 (5.3, 8.275) – puts him second for now.

4:21 pm. Julia Soares BRA FX: Arabian double front is GORGEOUS in the air, and excellent on the landing. Almost sticks the full-in as well. Stunning. Memmel turn goes well. Switch ring to tour jeté half. Triple wolf turn. Clean double tuck, small bounce. Split jump full into the corner before her last pass, a double pike, small hop. Absolutely fantastic routine. 13.700 (5.5, 8.200)!!!!!!!! WOW, so deserved.

4:20 pm. Edward Gonzales PER PB: Wasn’t typing but he had a few significant fights with muscling up into handstand, and he landed the dismount really low with a hop. 11.925 (4.9, 7.025)

4:16 pm. Barbara Achondo CHI FX: Was looking for a photo of her to use for today’s header image and the only one on Getty Images was from Pan Ams in 1999!!! Love that. Barbara’s first South American Games was in 1994, when she was 11 years old, and she’ll be 40 in three months. What an absolute star. Double pike with a pretty controlled lunge back. Hop L through to switch half, performance is magnificent as always, front full to stag, maybe a slight loss of control between the two but she corrects well. Double L turn, you can see her toe point from the moon. 2.5 comes up slightly short with a big step out of it. Switch side. Beautiful as always. 12.467 (4.5, 7.967)

4:14 pm. Caio Souza BRA PB: Tiniest leg form problems on a half pirouette at the start but the rest is nice, huge double front salto maybe had a little mistake coming out of it, but corrects well, straddle salto, Tippelt is clean, and a double front half dismount, stuck! That’ll be a great score.

4:13 pm. Rocio Saucedo ARG FX: Double pike, massive bounce back OOB. Hop forward on the front layout full. 2.5 at the ends comes up a bit short with a deep landing. 12.167 (5.1, 7.367, -0.3 ND)

4:12 pm. Lucas Bitencourt BRA PB: Wasn’t typing during this but it was a mostly good routine from what I saw, double pike dismount was solid. 13.275 (5.2, 8.075)

4:10 pm. Hillary Heron PAN FX: Big double layout to start, then she sticks the double pike! Hit the 1.5 to front full and a solid double tuck to finish, this was excellent! 12.967 (5.0, 7.967)

3:59 pm. Balance Beam Standings

1. Julia Soares BRA 12.967
2. Brisa Carraro ARG 12.467
3. Ana Karina Mendez PER 12.067
4. Karla Navas PAN 11.833
5. Abigail Magistrati ARG 11.533
6. Yiseth Valenzuela COL 11.467
7. Luisa Maia BRA 11.433
8. Daira Lamadrid COL 10.667

7. Daniel Aguero PER 13.075
8. Ignacio Varas CHI 12.837

3:52 pm. Josue Armijo CHI VT: Kaz full, nice in the air, hop back. Good! 13.825 (4.8, 9.025)

Second vault is a Yurchenko double with a small hop back. Very nice on both! Think he can medal actually. 13.925 (4.8, 9.125)

13.875 average, he’ll get the bronze!!

3:50 pm. Luisa Maia BRA BB: Looked like she grabbed the beam after coming up short on her mount. Hit a leap series pretty well before a bhs loso, just a minor adjustment there. Off on her side aerial. Switch leap, front aerial with a big step, double pike with a step back. 11.433 (4.8, 6.633)

3:47 pm. Ignacio Varas CHI VT: Goes for a kaz 1.5 but it’s a bit rushed in the air and he doesn’t have his footing, lands super far back on his heels and ends up sitting it. 12.575 (5.2, 7.675, -0.3 ND)

Also short in the rotation on the handspring double front, sits it. Bummer. 13.100 (5.2, 7.900)

12.837 average

3:45 pm. Abigail Magistrati ARG BB: Layout stepout mount, but sadly off on the triple flight series, ugh, she 100% would have medaled with a hit. Switch leap to split jump. Switch side with a little bobble. Front aerial with a bobble, side somi is strong, 1.5 dismount with a big step back. 11.533 (4.9, 6.633)

3:43 pm. Yuri Guimarães BRA VT: Kaz 1.5 with a massive stumble forward off the mat. 13.275 (5.2, 8.375, -0.3 ND)

Second vault is a handspring double front, good chest position on the landing, step forward. 14.150 (5.2, 9.050, -0.1 ND)

13.713 average, fourth currently.

3:41 pm. Karla Navas PAN BB: Back handspring mount and a solid bhs loso. Front aerial to split jump to Korbut, switch ring, back knee is a little low, split ring jump, sissone to wolf jump, 1.5 dismount with a step forward. Think she could move into third-ish for this? It was a very nice set but it’ll depend on what they do with the rings I think. Ooh, misses third by like two tenths, ends up with an 11.833 (4.5, 7.333)

3:38 pm. Daniel Villafañe ARG VT: Handspring double front, really deep with a massive hop forward. 13.725 (5.2, 8.525)

Second vault is a kaz 1.5, solid in the air, step forward to control the landing. 14.150 (5.2, 8.950)

13.938 average puts him second!

3:37 pm. Daira Lamadrid COL BB: Off on the bhs loso. Hit the side somi, switch side was a bit short with a break at the hips, cross split jump half went well, front aerial and side aerial were solid, full turn, switch to sissone, nothing majorly wrong here, and hits the back layout dismount with a hop. 10.667 (4.6, 6.167, -0.1 ND)

3:35 pm. Touch for the second half!

3:34 pm. Pablo Calvache ECU VT: First vault went 13.575 (4.8, 8.775) and second went 12.575 (4.0, 8.875, -0.3 ND) to average a 13.075. He wins the tie break ahead of Daniel Aguero.

3:32 pm. My stream got a bit weird and froze so I didn’t see the next vaulter or who it was but will update with the score!

3:29 pm. Julia Soares BRA BB: Candle mount and gets the wolf turn out of the way with no problems. Bhs loso with a big break at the hips. Front aerial to split jump to back tuck, step back that turns into a bigger wobble but she fights it. Switch leap with a big pause to the tour jeté and she has another big break at the hips. Wolf jump to sissone goes well, and then my stream froze for a sec. Hit the double pike with some baby steps. 12.9867 (5.4, 7.667, -0.1 ND)

3:25 pm. Daniel Aguero PER VT: Kaz 1.5, a little rushed in the air and lands it a bit back on his heels and can’t hold the landing, kind of wildly jumps back out of it with a huge stumble that turns him around. Couldn’t see if his hands hit the mat. 12.700 (5.2, 7.800, -0.3 ND)

I missed the second vault but saw that he landed it. 13.450 (4.8, 8.750, -0.1 ND)

13.075 average

3:23 pm. Ana Karina Mendez PER BB: Candle mount, solid punch front tuck, bhs loso had some slight form deductions throughout, especially in the knees, and it was a bit uncontrolled, but she got it around. Cross straddle half was nice in the air but had a bobble on the landing. Side aerial, also a bit of a bobble. Switch leap, good extension in the back leg. Split jump half to a really nice straddle jump. Full turn. Double tuck, step forward, but good hit! 12.167 (5.0, 7.167)

3:21 pm. Edward Gonzalez PER VT: Kaz full, good landing, nothing super severe in the air. 13.725 (4.8, 8.925)

Second vault is a Yurchenko double full, nice in the air but two big lunges back out of it. 13.725 (4.8, 8.925)

13.725 average

3:19 pm. Yiseth Valenzuela COL BB: Off on the bhs back tuck. Hit the side aerial and switch leap, didn’t connect to switch half, a little short. A little short on the side somi. Full turn. Hit the front layout full dismount. 11.467 (4.6, 6.867)

3:17 pm. Caio Souza BRA VT: Dragulescu, not as solid as he normally is with a bit of a stumble back. 14.225 (5.6, 8.725, -0.1 ND)

Ooh, I missed the entry on his second vault but he almost sticks it! 14.725 (5.6, 9.125) – maybe a kaz double?

14.475 average

3:15 pm. Brisa Carraro ARG BB: Layout stepout mount and then a side aerial to back handspring, both solid. Hit the side somi. Switch to split jump. Front aerial, double wolf turn, layout full dismount. Nice work! 12.467 (4.3, 8.167)

3:13 pm. Touch is underway for balance beam and MAG vault!
