The 2022 Asian Games begin tomorrow, September 24, in Hangzhou, China, where the prestigious multi-sport event will feature teams and individuals from 19 countries, including a top-caliber MAG team for the host nation.
Many top competitors have opted to compete here rather than at world championships, where qualifications begin a day after the Asian Games action concludes, but others are braving the lengthy flight and six-hour time difference to tackle both, especially those who have Olympic spots on the line.

Fingers crossed those opting for the AG → WC route can pull it off! Certainly can’t help that Yassinskaya & Khalimarden (KAZ), Angel Wong (HKG) and Chinese Taipei have been drawn in the first two subdivisions at Worlds too. Seems like an extremely tight turnaround, especially for those who advance to the later event finals.

Ugh, yes! At least WAG has an extra day since MAG starts QFs on Saturday, so if Yassinskaya, Khalimarden, or Wong make finals that happen on Friday (which Yassinskaya and Wong potentially could), it’s still REALLY tight but at least they’ll have a travel day between? I guess at least they’re all just specialists at worlds and not doing AA…but yeah, still absolutely wild.

Completely forgot that they go first – RIP any Kazakh MAG doing both 😦

Seriously!! I think it’s really just Kurbanov? But that’s such a tight turnaround with the PH final on Thursday and quals on Saturday. Actually really happy Ahmad Abu Al Soud had a fall on pommels here and is hopefully flying out early!
