9:40 am. Liu Yang CHN SR: Beautiful inverted crosses at the start, piked saltos to iron cross, simply beautiful, presses out to maltese, inverted pike before saltos to maltese, the finish there was gorgeous. Out to iron cross, inverted pike to front giant to handstand, great control, and a double double, big step back. 15.233
9:39 am. Hashimoto Daiki JPN VT: Kas double full, lovely in the air, but comes up a bit short and lands pretty low. 14.566
Sugino Takaaki JPN VT: 14.600
The live scores don’t seem to be working for subdivision two? I’m using the FIG’s scoring instead, which is not as easy to follow so I’m not going to get a lot of scores in real time.
9:37 am. Xiao Ruoteng CHN SR: Planche to maltese to iron cross, great. Drops to a hang before his saltos to maltese, inverted hang to pike to iron cross, inverted pike before the back giant to handstand, arching back a bit, double double dismount, a little deep with a step back to steady himself. 13.600
9:36 am. Oka Shinnosuke JPN VT: Kas 1.5 was pretty decent! Nothing super thrilling but nothing super wrong. 14.233
9:34 am. Zhang Boheng CHN SR: I couldn’t type at the start but everything I saw looked solid. The pike through to iron cross was SO TEXTBOOK, simply gorg. Front giant to handstand was pretty clean. Back was a bit shakier but got there without issue, and landed the double double dismount with a small step. 14.666
9:30 am. The second subdivision will see…
Teams: China, Japan, Netherlands, Ukraine
Individuals: Armenia, Australia, Colombia, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, Philippines, Syria
9:27 am. I just tested positive for Covid (FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!) like an hour ago so if my live blogs are unhinged blame the SUDAFED. Thankfully I’m very mild and the BEST CURE is sitting in my house watching gymnastics. 🙂
Watching the stream on Peacock and following live scores here.

The commercials are ridiculous. The ones that happen DURING THE ROUTINE just kill me.

Agree, but grateful for qualifications being streamed and this Olympics not requiring cable or an overpriced streaming bundle (in the US).
Was much more worried about Boheng than Daiki’s physical condition, this qualifications day is getting more and more interesting.

YES! It’s so frustrating, just put them in between each rotation??? There are 6 events happening at once, we saw like 5 routines from Ukraine TOTAL and they’re in fourth place, it’s WILD.

So now that qualifications for men are in the books, the USA men made no EF besides Stephen… And of course Brody was supposed to make HB finals… but is this a shock, or is this as expected?

I had the same question… this seems like a pretty poor performance to me but I don’t know if that’s just what was expected.
