BALANCE BEAM & PARALLEL BARS FINALS
6:23 pm. Jaycko Bourdet GUA PB:
6:21 pm. Natalia Escalera MEX BB: Switch leap mount, front aerial, strong bhs loso, full turn, so far so good! Switch to sissone is clean, so is the side aerial to split jump, standing back. A little short on the switch half. Front layout full is deep but stuck! She looks very happy with that.
6:19 pm. Angel Barajas COL PB: Clean front pike to handstand. 1.5 pirouette, underswing to the single rail, very smooth, arches over slightly after the Makuts, another 1.5 pirouette but he walks his hands a lot on this one and then same on the next pirouette, double front pike dismount has a good landing. Super hard pirouettes went a bit awry at times but still a good hit. 13.950 (6.1, 7.850)
6:17 pm. Paulina Guerra MEX BB: Double wolf turn goes smoothly. Bhs loso loso, leg form is a bit weak overall and she ends up short on the last element, fall. Side aerial landing is a bit awkward. Switch to wolf jump, nice shape on the jump, slight check. Big wobble and near-fall on the side somi but saves it. Misses a foot going into the dismount and just does a back pike. Oof. 10.600 (4.3, 6.300)
6:16 pm. Mario Taperio GUA PB: Starts with a nice Tippelt, ooh, goes for I think what was supposed to be a 1 and a quarter turn but can’t hold the handstand on the single rail, falls. Stutz to Diamidov, arches over and walks his hands forward. Double front, stumbles it back and sits it. Bummer of a routine. 9.950 (4.1, 5.850)
6:14 pm. Samantha Marin CRC BB: Double wolf turn, bhs loso, all clean so far. A little unsteady on the switch to switch half series, gets the Korbut, side aerial to split jump to straddle jump goes well. Unfortunately lands the side somi too far back and falls. Had another wobble on a cross jump but saves that. 1.5 dismount with a hop. 11.050 (4.9, 6.150)
6:13 pm. Cristian Ramirez MEX PB: Press to handstand at the start was very nice. Good Bhavsar and very clean Tippelt. Healy out also strong. Double front was a bit cowboyed and had a step to the side but nice set! 12.700 (4.5, 8.200)
6:11 pm. Brithany Herrera GUA BB: Good start on the switch leap mount and side aerial, hit the wolf jump to sissone after. Bhs loso is clean, step back. Switch leap to split jump half, really low back leg. Front aerial with a little wobble. Side somi, lovely form on that. Full turn. Gainer pike dismount, little bounce. Good set! 11.850 (4.5, 7.350)
6:09 pm. Touch for the halfway point!
6:06 pm. Yan Zabala COL PB: Clean front pike to handstand. Makuts was a little slow at the halfway point, Healy out was good. Diamidov also good, Tippelt pretty solid, minor things here and there but he’s cooking overall. Big Bhavsar. Double front half stuck!!! OH SIR. 13.600 (5.7, 7.800, +0.1 B)
6:04 pm. Alyiah Lide de Leon PAN BB: Switch leap mount was nice. Gorgeous front aerial! Bhs loso, some knee form but super solid. Switch to split jump to Korbut, good connections. Double wolf is great. Excellent double full! STUNNING!!!! 12.950 (4.6, 8.350)
6:03 pm. Francisco Velez PUR PB: Got everything pirouettey at the beginning, straddle front looked good, clean Bhavsar, a little short on the half turn before the Tippelt but that looks fine, minor adjustment going to handstand. Double front is stuck! 13.100 (4.8, 8.200, +0.1 B)
6:01 pm. Jahzara Ranger JAM BB: Back dive mount. Stood up out of the double wolf turn like she did in the all-around final but this time she can’t hold onto it, fall. Bhs loso loso, just goes a little off-center at the end and falls again. Really thought this would be another Mexico Mexico Jamaica podium! Gonna be excited for a surprise I guess. Gets the leap/jump series really nicely and the standing back is great. Strong front toss. Double tuck dismount has a small hop back. 10.500 (4.5, 6.000)
6:00 pm. Diorges Escobar CUB PB: Front pike to handstand, superb. Uprise half mostly good, Makuts hit his feet on the bar and thankfully didn’t get thrown off but not great, Healy goes well, landing on the double front dismount was solid, small step but great body position. 12.150 (4.6, 7.550)
5:58 pm. Demi Dash DOM BB: Back dive mount, pretty good on the double wolf turn. Bhs loso is clean, slight check at the end. Front aerial, wobble. Switch leap to split jump half, big break at the hips but good fight. Korbut was super crooked and support was off. Side aerial with a wobble, hit the jump series. 1.5 dismount, step forward. 11.650 (4.6, 7.050)
5:56 pm. Jensuel Soto PUR PB: Uprise to handstand had some minor form, Tippelt was very smooth though! Big straddle front, had a good press to handstand as well, decent on the double front dismount, step forward. 12.650 (4.7, 7.950)
5:54 pm. Lily Guevara HON BB: Switch leap mount, switch half, Korbut, none connected but all nice on their own! Clean full turn. Bhs loso. Switch leap to split jump, wobbles before the straddle jump. Side aerial, wobble there that causes her to finish a bit sideways. Split jump half. Gainer full off the side. Good routine! 10.550 (3.8, 6.750)
I don’t think she got any leap connections.
5:52 pm. Touch just wrapping up!
5:47 pm. Athletes are being introduced for the beam and parallel bars finals!

MAG VAULT FINAL
5:39 pm. Jose Lopez PUR VT: Daaaaaamn, the AIR on this Kas 1.5!! That was beautiful. Got so much distance. A little seated but not severe, moves one foot slightly, maybe lifts his heel, but looks like they gave him the stick bonus anyway. 14.100 (4.8, 9.200, +0.1 B)
Next up is the handspring front double pike, which he sadly sits. UGH. After such a great first run! 13.150 (5.2, 7.950)
13.625 average.
5:35 pm. Jensuel Soto PUR VT: Kas 1.5, some very minor ankle form in the air but good overall! Big lunge forward was the only major error. 14.000 (4.8, 9.200)
Handspring double front for the second vault, a little deep on the landing and has another lunge forward but still pretty nice as a whole. 13.650 (4.8, 8.850)
13.825 average, currently third.
5:34 pm. Jefferson Garcia GUA VT: I didn’t see what he did, Kas full maybe, just saw him as he came off the table and bounced back to sit it. 12.300 (4.4, 8.000, -0.1 ND)
Second vault is a handspring front layout, runs forward out of it. 11.950 (3.2, 8.750)
12.125 average.
5:32 pm. Audrys Nin Reyes DOM VT: Oh my god, arms were totally bent on his block and he fully crashed onto the table then kinda flew off the side into the judges. That’s it for him, devastatingly. He seems okay, though, physically. Just kinda shook. 0.000
5:26 pm. Jorge Vega GUA VT: Handspring front double full and it’s FAB! So upright on the landing. Form in the air is REALLY good, tiny hop to the side. SO good. 14.100 (4.8, 9.300)
Second vault is a Yurchenko half on front double tuck full off?!?! HEYYYY okay I love this. It’s crazy. Went a little crooked in the air but has a solid landing, hop to the side I think OOB. 13.650 (5.0, 8.750, -0.1 ND)
13.875 moves him to first place at the halfway point!
5:22 pm. Wilfry Contreras DOM VT: Dragulesu, SOOOOO nice! Tons of power, pretty good body positioning when he comes in for the landing, which has a hop back, home crowd is going wild. Maybe a hair short in rotation on the half turn but not super noticeable. 14.300 (5.2, 9.100)
Next is the handspring front double full, mostly really strong in the air, though he really has to reach for that landing, ends up really low and takes a big step OOB to hold it upright. 13.200 (4.8, 8.700, -0.3 ND)
13.750 average.
5:19 pm. Clayton Bell JAM VT: Kas full to start, little nits about his form in the air that overall gives him a bit of a floppy appearance so think he just needs to tighten everything up slightly, landing is a bit jarring, but not bad, step back OOB. 13.250 (4.4, 8.950, -0.1 ND)
Yurchenko double full for the second vault, again with some form in the air and he’s lacking control when he comes in for the landing, ends up taking I think two big lunges back. 12.650 (4.4, 8.550, -0.3 ND)
12.950 average.
5:15 pm. Camilo Vera COL VT: Kas 1.5, really nice in the air, landing is pretty deep and takes a big hop back. 13.500 (4.8, 8.700)
Second vault is a Dragulescu, woo! Half turn came so late and FAST I thought he was doing a Roche at first but he got that around pretty well I think, lots of cowboy in the air, chest down on the landing but very strong otherwise. 14.150 (5.2, 8.950)
13.825 average.
5:13 pm. Starting with the men’s vault final today, then moving to two at a time with the women on beam and men on parallel bars, and finishing with the women on floor and the men on high bar.
5:09 pm. WOOOO, okay, this link just popped up finally!
5:08 pm. Still no streaming link, but there is one on Claro Sports, which I can’t access in the U.S.! It took about 15 minutes for the WAG all-around link to appear on Centro Caribe so fingers crossed.
4:58 pm. Once again the YouTube stream isn’t up yet so it may be a little late again today…get it together, Centro Caribe Sports! I’ll update with the link when it’s up. Live scores are here.
