5:19 pm. Rotation 8 Standings
1. Fred Richard 113.789
2. Shane Wiskus 111.557
3. Danila Leykin 110.786
4. Yul Moldauer 28.305
5. Taylor Burkhart 109.834
6. Joshua Karnes 109.258
7. Cooper Kim 109.168
8. David Shamah 108.416
5:15 pm. Taylor Burkhart PB: Front pike to handstand is clean, Makuts with a little pause on the single rail, straddle front, Bhavsar, pike sit pressed to handstand, clean and steady. Tippelt was smooth. Double pike, small hop. Lovely work!
5:13 pm. Danila Leykin FX: Full-twisting double layout, hands down, NOOOO. Front double full to double front, a bit cowboyed, sits it. Flairs and air flairs. 2.5 to front layout down the side. Triple full, small hop. Y scale isn’t bad. Clean double pike, almost sticks that. Bummer routine though.
5:10 pm. Zaiden Kyte HB: Had a layout Tkachev and straddle Tkachev, hit the dismount.
Crew Bold FX: Front full to double front, pretty good landing I think? Small hp p back on the double double. Piked arabian double front, good! 2.5 to front layout I think after that. I didn’t see the last pass.
Jun Iwai PB: Hit routine, small hop back on the double front half dismount.
Patty Hoopes PB: Scissors to circles, Russians on the single pommel, Sohn, all going super well so far, travels go well, minor hip form there that he didn’t have previously, I forgive him, presses up into the handstand for the dismount and it goes mostly well, maybe a little muscle to get through it but no major breaks.
5:08 pm. Hit routine from David Shamah on p-bars just now.
5:06 pm. Kameron Nelson FX: Massive piked triple back, minor leg separation in the air, step back. Then a tucked triple back, his shape is kinda ambiguous? It’s like fully piked in the first flip and I thought for a second that he was doing the triple pike again lol. 2.5 to front layout down the side. Hit the front full to double front and double layout full-out well, small hops back on both.
Saw a couple of sits on vault this rotation, I think from Garrett Schooley and Landon Simpson.
5:03 pm. I’ve missed most of the Stanford p-bars sets so far, I think Colt Walker just hit his and I’m pretty sure everything I saw from Cooper Kim was hit.
Shane Wiskus FX: Front double full to double front, a bit deep with a big hop back. Piked double front was stuck! 2.5 to front layout down the side. Small hop back on the double double. Double pike to finish, the open out was excellent and he stuck it.
5:00 pm. Fred Richard HB: Tak full with minor form, Tak half, slightest ankle separation, caught the Liukin with minor ankle form in the air, Cassina and Kolman caught as well and looked a bit cleaner, hop back on the double double layout dismount.
Joshua Karnes FX: Strong front full to double front, small hop. Front double full to front layout, good! 2.5 to punch front is good, think he hit the last pass from what I could see!
4:59 pm. I just missed the first few routines because Kensley had her baby up here for a sec and I had to go say hi, SHE IS VERY CUTE.
Okay I have to figure out where we are and what’s happening lol.
4:52 pm. Rotation 7 Standings
1. Danila Leykin 99.136
2. Fred Richard 98.784
3. Shane Wiskus 97.407
4. Taylor Burkhart 96.034
5. Cooper Kim 95.918
6. Yul Moldauer 95.673
7. Joshua Karnes 95.608
8. David Shamah 93.458
4:48 pm. Crew Bold HB: Good Tak full and Tak half, Kolman maybe a bit close, Cassina was lovely and floaty, really nice body line throughout, straddle Tkachev to Liukin HELLOOOOOO I’m deceased, hop full, double double layout, stuck.
4:46 pm. Kameron Nelson HB: I caught this from the Kolman, maybe some leg form? Tak full was pretty close to handstand, Tak half arched over a bit, inbar to one-arm giant, quick twists in the double double layout, hop back.
4:45 pm. Daniel Sanjuanico FX: Hit the full-in at the start, then a double front, deep, big step forward. Double full down the side, small hop. 2.5 to front layout, tucks his knees a bit in the latter. Double pike to finish with a couple of bounces back.
4:43 pm. Shane Wiskus HB: Strong Cassina and Kolman, layout Tkachev could’ve had a little more clearance but not bad I don’t think, Tak full was excellent, Zou Li Min, Tak half a bit later than he could’ve done it, stuck the double double layout dismount!
4:42 pm. Brian Solomon FX: Hit the first pass and then the piked double front was GORG. Front full down the side. 2.5 to front layout looked clean but kinda went high and close on the punch, still got it around, but deep with a hop. Double pike at the end looked clean but landed on his toes, hands down.
4:41 pm. Joshua Karnes HB: Gaylord II, good! Also great Cassina and Kolman. Double double layout dismount, arm wobble and a small hop.
Fred Richard PB: Had some minor ankle stuff on a couple of pirouettes but saltos looked good to me, great height on the straddle front especially, Tippelt could’ve been smoother but that’s being picky, stuck the double front.
Jun Iwai VT: Great landing on the Kas 1.5. Small hop.
4:40 pm. David Shamah VT: Handspring double front, pops forward out of the landing onto his hands, ugh, too much OOMPH for him.
4:38 pm. Michael Jaroh HB: Caught this from the Tak full, Tak half, stalder, hop on the dismount. Hit set!
This crowd is CRAZYYYYY. I’ve never seen a gymnastics meet this wild before, and MAG of all things? Maybe Romania 2017 for Euros when Marian Dragulescu did the vault final is the closest I’ve experienced.
Alexandru Nitache FX: He sat the piked double front early on. 2.5 looked nice, hop forward. Full-in at the end was a bit deep, hop forward.
4:36 pm. Cooper Kim and Nicolas Kuebler both hit vault, I think Kim had a Kas 1.5 and Kuebler with a Kas full?
Ori Reilly FX: Big step out of the 2.5. Just a layout down the side, that’s all I saw.
Colt Walker VT: Kas 1.5, big hop forward.
Yul Moldauer PH: Okay I can kinda see this. Scissors well into the circles, then transitions to flairs, nothing major that I can tell so far, back into circles into the dismount, gets it around well, a hit!
4:33 pm. Ty Herzing FX: Hit the first pass with a bounce forward. Front double full to barani, hit. That’s all I saw!
Taylor Burkhart VT: Yurchenko half-on front double full, had big leg separation going onto the table, cleaned it up a bit in the air but still not suepr tight.
Danila Leykin HB: Clean Cassina, blindc hange to front giants into the Gaylord II, gets the Kolman, people are going wild, hop full, this routine is so long, double double layout, stuck cold! People stood up and cheered for this.
4:29 pm. Touch warmups are underway! I think in the arena I’ll focus on vault, floor, and high bar since those are what I can see best?
4:23 pm. SOOOOO, I forgot my glasses at the hotel and I fear I am devastatingly unable to see anything lmao. I think I’m going to have the stream on whilst sitting here in the arena, but will also try to pick up on other moments in the arena as best I can – like I can see the apparatuses and probably make out skills but my judgment was already shady yesterday WITH glasses due to the angles we have up here in this media row here, I cannot guarantee anything I say will be super insightful.
Anyway, athletes have been introduced and the national anthem is underway! Let’s do this?
