As always, Friday nights belong to the SEC, and tonight’s no different, though none of the match-ups are really top draws.
The closest will be the meet between #11 Missouri and #12 Georgia in Athens, but that’s a bit misleading because Georgia is counting an uncharacteristically low score in its average and if both teams hit, the Gym Dogs are capable of scoring nearly a point higher than the Tigers, especially at home. Missouri is also dealing with an injury to Morgan Porter, so if she’s still out, they’ll have to make up for her routines, going back to lineups they used in their first meet.
I’m most excited for #2 LSU at #6 Kentucky, because while LSU will come in as the clear favorite for the win, the Kentucky girls have been killing it this season, their scores rising with each meet to help them to their best scores and ranking in program history. Having a powerhouse team like LSU visit will be a huge motivation to keep the Wildcats in upward momentum.
Also tonight are #3 Florida hosting #16 Auburn and #5 Alabama at #23 Arkansas, both of which will be easy wins for the higher-ranked teams. I’m still waiting for Auburn to have its breakout meet of the season — they’ve been good enough, but not quite where they were a season ago — but my heart breaks for Arkansas, which is struggling without Amanda Wellick, though they do have lots of young talent who can use this season as a transition year.
#1 Oklahoma also competes tonight, at #34 Iowa State. Though kind of hammered on bars for not sticking dismounts last week, the rest of Oklahoma’s meet in Morgantown was phenomenal, getting them nearly to 198 while freshman superstar Maggie Nichols hit a 39.875 in her third straight all-around win of the season. This one’s a no-brainer, and the Sooners have a huge enough lead in the national rankings that I could see them swapping in a few alternates tonight to give their top girls a break.
MRGC standouts #9 Southern Utah and #14 Boise State will also compete tonight, with SUU traveling to #24 NC State while Boise will play host to conference rival #26 BYU at the Gem State Invitational.
On Saturday, #10 Michigan hosts Big Ten rival #12 Nebraska. The Wolverines always perform well — and score well — at home, so I’m giving it to them, though Nebraska has looked surprisingly strong so far this season, especially considering their team has no huge stars. It’s just a solid and consistent group who can hold their own against most of the bigger-name teams.
On the west coast, #4 Utah travels to #19 Washington, #8 UCLA travels to #17 Oregon State, and #15 Cal hosts #50 Arizona State. None of these are super evenly-matched, though if there’s gonna be an upset, I’d give it to Oregon State, which had a breakout meet last weekend and actually has reached a slightly bigger season high than UCLA has. Given UCLA’s consistency issues, I could see this one going either way, though the other two will be pretty clear-cut.
Sunday’s a super busy day, but my attention will be all over #39 Stanford hosting #28 Arizona. On paper, Stanford’s the stronger program, but they haven’t been able to make it through a meet unscathed once yet this year, so I’m hoping we see them pull it off now that they’re returning home.
Big 12 teams #7 Denver and #25 West Virginia will face off at WVU in a quad meet that also features #42 Towson and #54 Temple, the latter of which has been on fire this year, putting up some of its best program scores in history this season.
Also interesting will be the SEC rivals #5 Alabama and #16 Auburn coming back for an in-state rivalry meet on neutral turf in Birmingham. #6 Kentucky has a second meet on Sunday as well, at #31 Ball State, another program having a standout season thus far.
The full schedule is below. All times listed are ET, the first team listed is the host team, and we’ll update any links as they are updated on each program’s schedule. Once the meet is finished, we’ll replace the links with results. Enjoy!

Just a thought since others might appreciate it too… It’d be great if you kept the stream links up even after the meet is over. When there are too many meets at one time, we often have to go back and watch them later in the weekend — and while many are livestreams that won’t be there later, there are a loooot that remain accessible for quite a long time. It used to be great to be able to come back here even like a week later sometimes and easily find a meet I wanted to catch that I missed. …or on days where I’m bored just click about til I find one that is still available from just a school website or something (often seeing schools I often don’t catch). But now it’s just a day later and I can’t grab some from yesterday.
It’s just be cool if you added the results, but didn’t take away the stream links! Just a thought 🙂
