10:40 am. Mikulak USA SR: Nice position on the iron cross, planche, one handstand got a little arched, stuck the double double. SAM MIKULAK, OUR KING AND LORD.

Shirai JPN PH: Scissors look nice and his swing looks improved. Did a one-hand kinda deal, always fun. Hit the rest! POMMELS KING KENZO.

10:39 am. Kaya JPN PH: Didn’t see where but saw him come off. Rough.

10:36 am. J. Calvo COL FX: Double double. The announcer keeps calling him J.O. lmao. No. That’s not a thing. His next two passes, the landings were a lil botched. Step forward on the 2.5 to front full. Double full stuck with a little windmill. Nice triple full to finish.

Moldauer USA SR: Planche, iron cross, salto up to a straddle planche, which he loses halfway through, just can’t hold it, he looks nuts lol, stuck the double double.

10:34 am. Martinez COL FX: Hit the frist pass but then crashed his double double. Flared his double full well.

Tanigawa JPN PH: Got stuck in a handstand with his legs in a V for 9 hours, then fell. RIP Japan, Russia’s like 🙂 🙂 🙂 we’re da best. Positioning on his dismount was rough too.

Yoder USA SR: Maltese held well, double pike to double tuck to straddle sit, presses it up slowly to a straddle planche, couldn’t see what his dismount was but it looked stuck.

10:31 am. Uchimura JPN PH: Fell in the middle of his set. Finished well after he got back on.

Modi USA SR: Saltos to iron cross, arms are a little soft in the cross, L sit, hit the rest.

Jurkovic SRB VT: He crashed whatever it was supposed to be. I’m so good at seeing things happen.

10:30 am. Japan is now 0.414 behind Russia!!!!!!!!!!! Then the U.S. is 6 points behind Japan, the Netherlands in fourth.

10:27 am. Sam Mikulak is currently third in the world on pommels and got a 14.133 LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

10:24 am. Kenzo gets a 14.833 which puts him in second at the moment, behind Dalaloyan.

Hard fall from Erick Vargas on high bar just now. I haven’t seen a ton of hard high bar falls at this meet!! Only like three that were really rough.

Mikulak USA PB: Scissor elements look good, handstand pirouettes are nice, then flairs, gets a little low with his hips at one point but easily works through it, OMGGGGG pommels SAVIOR SAM MIKULAK asdkfajsdf;lasdkfl

10:20 am. Shirai JPN FX: Triple double tucked, casual, then a front tuck full to front triple I think, I can’t keep up with him. 3.5 to Rudi? Quad after that? Then 2.5 to front full I think and a triple full after that. Some landings deductions throughout but I THINK his D will be more than enough to make up for it. I feel like I got at least 40% of those passes wrong. I need to memorize them so I sound smart about being able to understand what the hell Kenzo is doing.

A. Davtyan ARM VT: Excellent Dragulescu!

Yoder USA PH: Fell just as I glanced over at the end of Kenzo’s routine. A little slow to find his rhythm when he remounts.

10:17 am. Tanigawa JPN FX: Hit his first pass, nice double front pike half after that, then a piked double front, stuck, just some soft knees at the end. Really low on his 2.5 to front full, almost sat it but has a but of steel. Triple full to finish is nice.

Loo MAS PB: Good routine, just a step on the dismount.

Moldauer USA PH: Ugh, after all of his nonstop flairs he just randomly kinda stops in a straddle for a second before continuing. He’s like “this is the part where I take a breath.”

J. Calvo HB: I wasn’t typing at the beginning but he hit everything, nice double double layout with a little hop at the end.

10:14 am. Kaya JPN FX: Hit his first pass. Then a front double full to front full, nice. The rest is great. I couldn’t type through it but

Modi USA PH: Rolls over his swing onto his back and then falls at one point.

Lugo COL HB: Layout Tkachev half was nice, hit the rest!

10:11 am. Oh wow, 14.333 for Sam! Good for him.

Russia, Japan, U.S. now in that order, all about two points from one another.

10:08 am. Mikulak USA FX: I wasn’t typing throughout any of this but he hit everything I saw super well. Little bounce in the triple full to finish.

Uchimura JPN HB: Big layout Kovacs, looked a little weirdly piked though from my angle? Cassina, lovely, Kolman also beautiful, stalder 1.5, a little late, stoop full is slow and steady, bends a little bit before his Yamawaki to Endo, hop full, flared double double layout with a hop. Pretty effing excellent.

10:07 am. J. Calvo COL PB: Nice one-arm pirouette and press handstands, clean and basically stuck double front half to finish.

Also beautiful work on rings from Artur Tovmasyan, I wasn’t typing during it but it was lovely. I think he’s in first now! Yup, 14.866.

10:04 am. Moldauer USA FX: Stuck a beautiful Randi to start!!! SUPER high and stuck arabian double front half-out!!!!! Front double full to front full, tiny hop. Flairs are gorgeous. Stuck 2.5 to barani, hit the pass after that, I was watching HB for a sec, and then a triple full with a lunge back to finish. Absolutely breathtaking.

Tanaka JPN HB: Cassina, Kovacs, Kolman, DLO full with a step. I was mostly focused on Yul but this was solid, just not super tidy at all times.

I missed Vahagn Davtyan’s rings but he got like a 14.666 or something like that so good for him!!

10:02 am. Shirai JPN HB: Kolman, layout Kovacs, Def, hop full, he has some weird little mistakey kinda quirks that’ll mess with his E score but good job to him, hop on the dismount.

Van Wicklen USA FX: Piked double front half out, step, hit the second and third passes, I think the third was a 3.5 to barani, and his twist was so well-done, then a clean double full side pass. 2.5 to front full, then a super clean arabian double front, little hop. Another great routine from him.

9:58 am. Yoder USA FX: Double double then front full to front double full, good. 2.5 to barani, a little short, step back. Hit a pass after that, then a double full side pass, some ankle stuff in his triple full, just a hop to finish. Good set.

Kaya JPN HB: Layout Tkachev, straddle Tkachev, German giants, OW, kind of messed them up at the end, bent elbows and had to muscle out of it, Yamawaki, hit the dismount.

Prommanee THA VT: Believe he did a Cuervo, looked like he botched the landing.

A. Davtyan ARM SR: Super clean work from him today!!

9:55 am. The announcer keeps saying “this rotation is TERMINATED” and I die every time, so extra.

The stands are a little more full of normal people (aka non-credentialed people) today but I think 99% of them are from Japan.

It’s Russia, Japan, and the U.S. in the standings now. Japan inching closer to Russia, just about 1.3 back, and then the U.S. is something like 2 points back from Japan.

9:53 am. Jurkovic SRB FX: Hit his first pass then a clean double full. Little skid on the 2.5 to finish.

14.833 for Tanaka on p-bars!

9:52 am. 14.566 for Sam on high bar puts him into first above Epke!!!!!!!!! SAMMMMM.

Tanaka JPN PB: Short on his transition to the single rail handstand but other than that, he’s fab, effortless press handstands, stuck a BEAUTIFUL piked double back, damn!

9:48 am. Merdinyan ARM PH: Artur fell before him btw. 😦 Harutyun is doing well though. Russians between the pommels are nice but then he starts his traveling and just slips right off. 😦 SO CLOSE. Back on to travel and his knees are bent basically the whole time. Hit the dismount. Bummed.

Tanigawa JPN PB: Excellent from everything I saw, I was typing through Sam’s but watching both with the craziest eyes switching back and forth that you’ve ever seen.

Mikulak USA HB: Here we gooooo. Big Cassina, Kolman, layout Tkachev, straddle Tkachev to straddle Tkachev half, one-arm pirouette, he’s killing it tbh, hop full, stalder, double double layout with a little hop. FINALLYYYYYY.

9:46 am. Kaya JPN PB: Everything looked good that I could see, a little slow on the single rail press and super cowboyed in his double front half out.

Vargas COL VT: Yurchenko 1.5, not bad.

Modi USA HB: Caught it from the Tkachev, then layout Tkachev to straddle half, caught a little awkwardly, huge layout Tkachev half, Endo to Endo full is nice, double double layout with a little hop, yay! Lots of form stuff and late swings but yay for hitting.

9:44 am. Velickovic SRB FX: Nice front full to front double full, and little hop on his double arabian. 2.5 to barani also good. Hand down on his side pass.

Van Wicklen USA HB: Yamawaki, layout Tkachev, straddle Tkachev to straddle Tkachev half, nice, one-arm pirouette, getting really aggressive now, flared DLO full with a tiny hop, he’s happy with that.

J. Calvo COL VT: Kaz 1.5, looked good from here!

9:43 am. Shirai JPN PB: Doesn’t hold his handstands quite long enough at the start and his angle is a little off. The rest is great though. Stuck the double front half!

Martinez COL VT: Kaz 1.5, ankles crossed, hop.

9:41 am. Dejanovic SRB FX: Stuck his first pass, a combo pass. Front layout to front full with a tiny hop after that, then a punch into a Rudi. Fell on his last pass.

Moldauer USA HB: Yamawaki, one-arm pirouette, muscled down onto the high bar after that and had to restart his L grip giants, Kovacs, one-arm giant, hop full, Rybalko, stuck the DLO full.

C. Calvo COL VT: Kaz full, messy with a stumble off the mat.

9:40 am. After two, it’s Russia, the U.S., Japan, and Ukraine. Japan on p-bars is going to upset this order I feel…….they’re only a point back from the U.S.

9:36 am. Mikulak USA PB: So far so good…hip angle could be better going up into handstand but LOVE his quick work and connections with all of his salto release elements. Very nice press handstand near the end, buckled double front half-out with a little hop.

9:33 am. Moldauer USA PB: Clean salto to start, a little crooked in two of his handstands, lots of saltos in his routine, I hate p-bars irrationally but like salto heavy routines. Stuck the double front half-out! A little weird in the air but good landing considering it wasn’t perfect in the air.

Jurkovic SRB HB: Straddle Tkachev half, twist came in at the very last second, love. One-arm pirouette was also good, big straddle Tkachev after that. HUUUUUGE floaty DLO full, he’s very pretty, big lunge forward on that though, idk how, he went like 400 miles above the bar. Just rotated very slow.

Martinez COL SR: Saltos into L sit was nice, I missed the rest!

9:32 am. Paunovic SRB HB: I believe he fell early on. The rest that I saw was good, tucked double double with a step forward.

I missed Jossimar Calvo on rings I guess, 13.066 for him.

Lugo COL SR: Solid routine, looks happy with it.

Tanaka won’t vault, guess they’re more than happy with the first three.

9:30 am. Tanigawa JPN VT: Blanik, aka piked double front, looks like his knees went a little tucked closer to the landing, but overall solid. Second vault was a kaz double, messy with a big step over to the side, OOB probably.

A. Davtyan ARM FX: A little short on the 1.5 to front double full. Arabian double front half out, little hop. 1.5 to Rudi after that is better. Good triple full to finish.

Yoder USA PB: Looks really precise throughout, good height on his salto skill. Great set!

9:27 am. Shirai JPN VT: Yurchenko triple like it’s SUPER CASUAL. Little hop. Couldn’t really see how it looked in the air from here but he’s fab. Second vault is a kaz 1.5, seems TOO EASY FOR HIM.

Modi USA PB: Fell out of handstand on the single rail. Good cover. Just a hop on the dismount.

Khachatryan ARM FX: Hit his first pass, then a double tuck. Short on something after that, maybe a Rudi. Wild on his last pass, hop forward.

Vefic SRB HB: Good Tkachev, stalder, Endo, all solid, DLO full is low but stuck.

9:25 am. V. Davtyan ARM FX: 1.5 to front tuck to start, then a barani. Layout side pass. Layout full after that. Hit his last pass.

Dejanovic SRB HB: Good routine! DLO full dismount.

Kaya JPN VT: Kaz 1.5, a little unsteady on the landing, has to take a step.

Sam is dancing his heart out to “you don’t gotta go to work work work work”

9:22 am. Waiting for team results to update. for first rotation leaders…looks like it’s Ukraine, Russia, the U.S., and Japan after one!

9:20 am. Vargas COL PH: Knees are a little soft throughout and has lots of leg separations…comes off near the end. Back on to finish well.

9:18 am. FIG also doesn’t have start lists printed today…got it online but like figure out these thingssss.

Martinez COL PH: Got a little wild for a minute near the end but was able to dismount with no problems.

Pommels scoring is going SUUUUUUPER SLOW once again.

9:16 am. Jurkovic SRB PB: Bent elbows are pretty severe on his transition to the single rail and some of his handstands are a little crooked. Also missed the press up into his L sit and kind of fell back, didn’t come off but had to redo the skill. Double pike to finish with a hop.

9:14 am. Tanigawa JPN SR: So far so good. The internet is slow af now so updating might be slower than usual. Again, just FIG things. Solid routine for him, double double with a good landing.

9:07 am. SO the complex wouldn’t let our car in which is a major problem with every single FIG meet I’ve been to, because they seem to have absolutely zero communication with any volunteers or literally anyone in general, lol. It’s the same story at every single meet.

I wasn’t typing during the first two U.S. men’s vaults but here we go…

Van Wicklen USA VT: Excellent Dragulescu!! Second vault is a kaz 1.5, which he sat KILL ME

Uchimura JPN SR: Love his transition into the iron cross. Then his saltos back into the cross. Little hop on the double double.

Mikulak USA VT: Kaz 1.5, solid enough.

I also missed Jossimar Calvo on pommels and Artur Davtyan on high bar, both just went. Artur looks like he hit but he doesn’t have a crazy routine there so NBD.

  1. What happened to Koheis eye? On the live stream after High Bar he was walking so slow after dismounting scratching his eye, all I saw was his back. lol

    • There was chalk in his eyes and he couldn’t take it off because his hands were also covered in chalk.
When Wataru Tanigawa first forgot to salute the judges after his floor routine (he waved at the Japanese fans first 😀), Kohei bursted into laughter, so I think he felt better.
But PH wasn’t very good for the Japanese team. 🙁
