10:30 pm. Final Standings
1. Oklahoma 197.975
2. Denver 196.350
3. Missouri 196.200
4. Arkansas 195.825
10:29 pm. Oklahoma not even close to what they’re capable of tonight and still go 197.975. HALLELUJAH.
10:28 pm. Trautman, OU, FX: Huge double layout to open, and then her middle pass into a split jump. Excellent so far. Huge leap series, then a double tuck into a controlled lunge.
10:26 pm. Denver ends with a 196.350 and Missouri is close behind with a 196.200. Really thought Missouri was gonna get the edge with all of Denver’s weird mistakes tonight but Denver more than made up for the mistakes with some truly fantastic routines whereas Missouri was just kind of average-good if that makes sense, in that they were consistent from start to finish but didn’t really have any blowout routines.
10:24 pm. Dowell, OU, FX: Opens with the Dowell! Maybe a tad short, but covers it up well with a controlled lunge back. Hit the 1.5 to front layout and then her last pass as well. Solid.
10:23 pm. Schou, Denver, BB: Big wobble on her flight series, took a lot of effort to save, also a bit messy on her sheep jump. Stuck the gainer full.
10:22 pm. Arkansas made it through vault well by the way, 195.825 to finish.
10:21 pm. Huber, Missouri, UB: Straddle Jaeger to shootover, big double layout dismount. Fantastic!
Karr, Denver, BB: Side aerial to…bhs, think that was supposed to be a loso, but she’s way short, ends up wobbling and grabbing the beam before falling. Huge wobble on the side aerial but eventually saves it. Oof. Also wobbled on a jump. Then casually sticks a super clean 1.5 dismount.
Degouveia, OU, FX: Hit her opening pass. Very clean on the front full front layout, and her leaps/jumps are INSAAAANE. What a straddle. 1.5 to front full with a controlled step. Great work.
10:20 pm. Porter, Missouri, UB: Caught her release, toe on to bail, big step back on the dismount.
Draper, OU, FX: I missed the beginning, came in super low from her first element going into the front full, tucks it considerably and lands it basically n a full buckle.
Vasquez, Denver, BB: Excellent acro series, super clean switch leap to split jump. Think she stuck the dismount. Love her so much.
10:15 pm. Showers, OU, FX: Double pike, great. I wasn’t typing through the rest but looked like she hit everything.
Sundstrom, Denver, BB: Switch to switch half, wobble, beat jump. The rest is okay, a little short on her flight series with a wobble, gainer pike off the end with a bounce in place. Fun story, when I went to the OU/Florida meet in Norman back in 2015, I was in the guest seating and was right behind Mia and her family when she was on her official visit. We got free popcorn. It was bananas.
Schugel, Missouri, UB: Piked Jaeger to shootover, clean. Ooh, came off at the end, maybe casted over? Yeah, must have been on her blind full. Gets back and does it again, into the double tuck dismount, a little short.
10:14 pm. Ruiz, Denver, BB: Big switch to switch side. Bhs loso, legs could be straighter. Wobble and leg up on the full turn. Had a good acro+dance bit after that and hit the dismount.
Christensen, Missouri, UB: Blind full to Tkachev, a little muscly in the kip cast to handstand after. Bail, short on the handstand before the dismount, double tuck with a hop.
10:13 pm. Kelly, Missouri, UB: Blind full to piked Jaeger, a little low. Double layout with a little scoot.
Webb, OU, FX: Good 1.5 to front full. Actually looked a little short on her leaps? Maybe it’s just the angle. Short on the Rudi at the end.
10:12 pm. Tucker, Missouri, UB: Caught her Jaeger, bail is good, blind full right on the bar to a double tuck, good landing.
Denver, BB: Hit her acro series. Full turn with a little adjustment. Solid jumps. Stuck gainer full.
10:01 pm. Rotation 3 Standings
1. Oklahoma 148.400
2. Denver 147.400
3. Missouri 147.200
4. Arkansas 146.575
9:58 pm. Nichols, OU, BB: Front aerial into a jump, lovely. Clean bhs loso. Solid full turn. Switch leap to split leap. Stuck the 1.5 dismount with her feet apart. Fab.
Carter, Arkansas, FX: Stuck the double tuck cold. Hit the middle pass, maybe a 1.5 to front full, I was on beam during the beginning of that, double pike to finish is a tad buckled but stuck.
9:55 pm. Webb, OU, BB: Clean full turn. Excellent flight series. Clean front aerial. Switch leap to split leap. Side aerial to layout full dismount. Perfection! Those leaps.
Shaffer, Arkansas, FX: Arabian double front, a little short but figures out how to correct. Clean double tuck. Finishes with a 1.5 to front layout with a step.
9:53 pm. McGlone, Arkansas, FX: Huge double layout! Excellent. Great double tuck as well and her jumps are effortless. Hit the last pass. SUPERB. That was fantastic.
Showers, OU, BB: I wasn’t typing during this but pretty much everything I saw was good! Stuck the gainer full.
9:52 pm. Karr, Denver, UB: I keep missing the beginning of every routine. Caught her Gienger when I looked in, and stuck her double layout. Excellent.
9:51 pm. Hambrick, Arkansas, FX: I came into this a little late but she hit everything I saw.
Woodard, OU, BB: Side aeral to bhs, biggest most hilarious wobble that makes it look like she’s in a matrix, my goodness that was great. Front toss. Layout full, feet apart.
Brown, Denver, UB: Huge van Leeuwen, waits until the very last second to twist and catch, double layout with a hop forward. I missed the beginning.
9:50 pm. Glynn, Denver, UB: Clear hip to Gienger, good transitions, full-in is a little low, hops out of it into the salute.
9:47 pm. Porter, Missouri, VT: Good FTY.
Sundstrom, Denver, UB: Clear hip to low Tkachev, double layout dismount, pretty piked in the first flip, short on the landing, step.
Lehrmann, OU, BB: Love her mount series so much. Also love the acro series into the Korbut. Gainer full dismount, clean.
Ward, Missouri, VT: Yurchenko half-on front tuck half, good! Just a little step.
9:45 pm. Trautman, OU, BB: I wasn’t typing at the beginning but she hit everything. 1.5 with a hop.
Gottula, Missouri, VT: FTY, big but a little loose, hop on the landing.
Ruiz, Denver, UB: Tkachev, a little low, bail was good, hit the dismount well.
Tucker, Missouri, VT: Very clean and huge, stuck! Great job.
9:44 pm. Huber, Missouri, VT: FTY, bounce in place, looked clean throughout.
Kern, Denver, UB: Hop change to straddle Jaeger, a little weird on the release but no big issues. Bail, double layout, a little short, little hop.
9:37 pm. For the third rotation I’m gonna focus on Oklahoma and Denver, and will start off with Missouri on vault and then switch over to floor for the latter half of the Arkansas rotation there.
9:34 pm. Rotation 2 Standings
1. Oklahoma 98.900
2. Denver 98.175
3. Missouri 97.925
4. Arkansas 97.325
9:32 pm. Tucker, Missouri, FX: Tucked full-in, a tad short, but pulls it back. Double full to loso, great.Double pike, a tiny bit short, step back.
9:31 pm. Burton, Arkansas, BB: Lot of pressure now. Front aerial, little stumble. Solid on the bhs loso. Sheep jump in her jump series looked pretty good! Could be a little more arched. Stuck the gainer full.
9:29 pm. Porter, Missouri, FX: Double pike, controlled lunge. 1.5 to front layout, mostly clean, step out of it. Double tuck, chest forward on the landing and she’s kind of wild, stumble back.
9:27 pm. Gottula, Missouri, FX: Double pike, a little lack of control going into the lunge but she still slides into it. Good double tuck at the end.
Shaffer, Arkansas, BB: Switch to split leap full, is off by about a quarter and falls trying to pull it the rest of the way around. Crooked on her bhs loso, big wobble and she falls again. 😦 Now the nerves are really here. Big wobble with her leg up on the front aerial. Double full, a little rough, hop to the side.
9:26 pm. Nichols, OU, UB: Lovely handstand before the Tkachev to Pak, toe-on to van Leeuwen, super clean, short handstand before the giants into her double layout, stuck, just slides her feet into the salute.
9:25 pm. Carter, Arkansas, BB: Good jump series to start, a little short on the acro seres. Front aerial, doesn’t get her head around until late and has to bobble to hold it. Solid dismount.
Lehrmann, OU, UB: Lovely handstand before blind change to straddle Jaeger, bail looked like the tiniest bit arched, hop on the dismount.
Huber, Missouri, FX: Sat her double pike at the end of the routine.
9:24 pm. Brown, Denver, VT: Huge and clean Yurchenko 1.5, step forward.
9:22 pm. Sundstrom, Denver, VT: FTY, looked like the best one so far! Great job.
Dowell, OU, UB: Huge Ray but she mssed it!!!! NOOOOOO. Looked like it was maybe just a bit too big for her to catch. Bail, double layout with a step.
Garner, Arkansas, BB: Side aerial loso, crooked and weak hip angle, fall. Layout full dismount with a step back.
Karr, Denver, VT: Huge Yurchenko 1.5, hop on the landing.
9:21 pm. Hambrick, Arkansas, BB: Bhs loso, bent legs on the bhs. Good leap series. Straddle 3/4 is solid. Gainer full dismount is good, little bounce.
Thomas, OU, UB: Blind change to straddle Jaeger, a bit close, bail, double layout, whips it around, little stumble back.
9:20 pm. Marks, OU, UB: Toe on to Maloney to bail, full-in came off a little low it looked like, but she had no problem getting it around and sticking with feet apart.
Schou, Denver, VT: FTY, not super tight in the air but more power than the first two. Hop back.
9:18 pm. Chesnok, Denver, VT: FTY, hop back.
Webb, OU, UB: I don’t have sound on so I missed most of this but saw that she hit, good dismount.
Yamzon, Arkansas, BB: Great triple flight series, front toss, everything going well so far. Gainer full, solid.
Ruiz, Denver, VT: Another hit FTY, this one was a bit cleaner, maybe a tad short though.
9:10 pm. Man, the way the OU vault scores build is exactly what every single team dreams of.
9:08 pm. Rotation 1 Standings
1. Oklahoma 49.500
2. Arkansas 48.925
— Denver 48.925
4. Missouri 48.825
9:06 pm. Brown, Denver, FX: Here we goooo! Huge double layout, lunge out of it. Switch ring to switch half to tuck jump half to front support, love a good leap/jump series. 1.5 to front layout to a jump, couldn’t see if it was a split jump or stag from this angle but good control. Double pike is a little short, knees buckle a little and she has a step but overall a great routine until the end.
9:05 pm. Ward, Missouri, BB: Bhs bhs loso, solid. Switch to pike jump, also great. Full turn, the tiniest adjustment. Hitch kick to side aerial, a little crooked, but again her adjustment is pretty minor. Tries to stick the 1.5 dismount, gets it on her toes but then has to take a baby step forward.
9:03 pm. Karr, Denver, FX: Short on her opening double pike, kinda skids the landing a bit. Super clean on her 1.5 to front full. Front handspring into a Rudi, good landing.
Kelly, Missouri, BB: Saw most of this, sheep jump in her jump series was a little weak, but hit routine.
9:01 pm. Schou, Denver, UB: Front double full, some leg stuff but got it around well. 1.5 to front layout, great. Hit the last pass as well.
Shaffer, Arkansas, UB: Hit routine, double layout at the end was solid.
Checking in on Missouri, looks like everyone has hit so far!
9:00 pm. Stern, Oklahoma, VT: Yurchenko 1.5, a little wild, big step on the landing. Believe this was an exhibition.
8:59 pm. Ruiz, Denver, FX: Hit opening pass. 1.5 to front layout is good. Double pike into a controlled lunge. Great routine.
Dowell, OU, VT: Yurchenko 1.5, huge, stuck! Didn’t think she had it, tbh, she was a little on her toes, but didn’t even have to cheat the stick! Held it super well.
Garner, Arkansas, UB: Clean blind full to Gienger to shootover, YAS. So nice. Clean double tuck, solid landing. Best so far by a lot.
8:58 pm. Burton, Arkansas, UB: Maloney to Pak, some knee form, double layout, first flip is pretty piked, hop back.
Degouveia, OU, VT: Yurchenko 1.5, huuuuge, looked mostly clean.
8:57 pm. Kern, Denver, FX: Double pike to open, hopped into a lunge. Hit the rest.
Hambrick, Arkansas, UB: Piked Jaeger to shootover, full-in with a hop it looked like but the bars coach is blocking the dismount area so I couldn’t really see.
Trautman, OU, VT: Tons of power on her Yurchenko 1.5, little hop forward. Overall the biggest and the most control. Knees may have been a tiny bit soft though.
Bower hit beam for Missouri! I can’t really see them at all but I’ll update you based on what I do see, and on scores.
8:56 pm. Webb, OU, VT: Yurchenko 1.5, landed a little short and lock-legged, a lesser gymnast would have sat that, literally no idea how she held it up at that angle but good for her!
8:53 pm. Sundstrom, Denver, FX: Double back to open had a bit of a lunge back. Front layout doesn’t land forward enough to punch out of, comes in almost horizontal into the front full out of it, sits it.
Lehrmann, OU, VT: Yurchenko 1.5, a little lack of control and rushed, big step forward.
Laird, Arkansas, UB: I missed the beginning, double layout at the end was a little arched, but hit routine.
8:52 pm. Yamzon, Arkansas, UB: Tkachev is a tad low. Arched handstand before the bail, full-twisting DLO with a big hop back.
Showers, OU, VT: FTY, landed a tiny bit forward on her toes but looked nice and stretched.
8:51 pm. Also gonna try my best with names but I can’t really see faces on these streams so I might just put ATHLETE 1 and then go back and change the name to her actual name once the result goes up? Hopefully Flo puts a graphic with the name but yeah, it’s a little blurry and I don’t wanna get stuff wrong.
8:50 pm. I can only have three windows open on Flo, so I’m gonna focus on Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Denver, and will try to get Missouri on beam in the back of the floor shot. #CHEATING
8:48 pm. Actually warm-ups are starting now so give me like three minutes.
8:45 pm. Last year Metroplex was like “hi we’re at 8 pm!” and then we all got ready to watch and then ended up sitting through a half hour of march-in and national anthems and nonsense and we were all so whiney. Totally forgot about that until THIS year when I went to watch at 8 pm and…same situation. So I’m really glad I waited to post this blog so you didn’t get a half hour of me complaining about all of that.
Anyway, warmups are wrapping up so LET’S GO.
