12:43 pm. That’s it for today! Thanks for joining me for SIX HOURS of gymnastics!

12:42 pm. High Bar Final Standings

1. Tang Chia-Hung, Taiwan, 14.950
2. Arthur Mariano, Brazil, 14.350
3. Bernardo Miranda, Brazil, 13.900
4. Lukas Dauser, Germany, 13.550
5. Tin Srbic, Croatia, 13.100
6. Tyson Bull, Australia, 12.550
7. Tanabe Yui, Japan, 12.150
8. Ivan Dejanovic, Serbia, 9.950

12:38 pm. Bernardo Miranda BRA HB: Would REALLY love a medal for him! He’s been amazing here. Endo, Tak half, layout Tkachev was huge and his legs have been GLUED this whole time. Straddle Tkachev to piked Tkachev, German giants to stalder, gorgeous full-twisting double layout, small step back. 13.900 (5.2, 8.700)

12:34 pm. Ivan Dejanovic SRB HB: Tak full was a whole mess leg-wise. Tak half is a lot better. Layout Tkachev, unfortunately misses the catch, fall. Misses it the second try as well. Ugh. Gets the straddle Tkachev, blind change to L grip front giants, front full pirouette, turns around for a stalder, Quast, and full-twisting double layout dismount, a little short with a hop forward. 9.950 (5.0, 4.950)

12:31 pm. Tin Srbic CRO HB: Zou Li Min, Tak half, pretty good finish, stalder piked Tkachev, stalder straddle Tkachev to layout Tkachev, Kolman, Quast, Tak full, a little crooked but close to handstand, stalder, and a full-twisting double layout, but he comes up short and lands on his knees. NOOOO! 13.100 (6.3, 6.800)

12:28 pm. Tanabe Yui JPN HB: Yamawaki to Endo, can’t get it to handstand and has to rest on the bar before starting his swing again. Some leg form on the half turn before the inbar stalder, layout Tkachev, straddle Tkachev, some foot form, German giants, gets a little stuck at the very end but it doesn’t faze him, full-twisting double layout, good landing. 12.150 (5.2, 6.950)

12:25 pm. Break for the second half touch! Tang has a big lead right now with his 14.95, ahead of Mariano with a 14.35.

12:22 pm. Tyson Bull AUS HB: Tak half, Cassina had minor form things throughout, Kovacs is cleaner, straddle Tkachev rotation is a bit odd and he’s not where he needs to be for the catch, his arms are like, angled a little too high if that makes sense? Fall. Stalder, blind change to L grip to Zou Li Min, Tak, turns around for giants into the full-twisting double layout, landing kind of catches him off guard, a bit of a jolt as he lands with his chest bouncing down. 12.550 (5.2, 7.350)

12:18 pm. Tang Chia-Hung TWN HB: Mixed grip giant before the Zou Li Min, Cassina, leg separation before catching, arms a little bent as well, full-twisting Yamawaki to Endo, Tak half, a little muscled, layout Tkachev to straddle Tkachev, piked Tkachev, beautiful flared full-twisting double layout, small hop. 14.950 (6.3, 8.650)!

12:16 pm. Arthur Mariano BRA HB: Mixed grip front giant before a Tak full, basically in perfect handstand, Yamawaki, Liukin to Endo, nice! Tak half, a little crooked but nothing severe, big layout Tkachev to straddle Tkachev, Quast, stalder, and a GORGEOUS full-twisting double layout. Oh boy that’s nice. 14.350 (5.6, 8.750)

12:13 pm. Lukas Dauser GER HB: L grip front giants to Tak full, Tak half, not bad on either, Kovacs is pretty good, piked Tkachev, straddle Tkachev, Rybalko finishes in horizontal, Zou Li Min done well, one-arm giant, Quast, and a clean stuck full-twisting double layout dismount! Really nice work overall. 13.550 (5.3, 8.250)

12:11 pm. Some interviews with the French medalists while the high bar athletes warm up!

12:07 pm. Five hours later, the athletes are marching out for the 10th and final event, high bar!

12:05 pm. Women’s Floor Final Standings

1. Mélanie De Jesus Dos Santos, France, 13.650
2. Jade Barbosa, Brazil, 13.400
3. Alexa Moreno, Mexico, 13.300
4. Flavia Saraiva, Brazil, 13.200
5. Cassandra Loustalot, Mexico, 12.900
6. Kaia Tanskanen, Finland, 12.500
7. Halle Hilton, Ireland, 11.750
8. Charlize Mörz, Austria, 11.400

Parallel Bars Final Standings

1. Lukas Dauser, Germany, 15.250
2. Mitchell Morgans, Australia, 14.650
3. Cameron-Lie Bernard, France, 14.600
4. Bernardo Miranda, Brazil, 14.500
5. Suetsugi Kotaro, Japan, 14.500
6. Ron Pyatov, Israel, 14.050
7. Kabeya Hinata, Japan, 13.700
8. Léo Saladino, France, 13.150

12:01 pm. Lukas Dauser GER PB: Good on the cast to handstand at the start, next turn looked a bit rushed, half turn out, full turn, and then another half turn, a little short and again not super tidy. Makuts was good, Healy, and half turn, all good, double front half dismount, legs were a bit wild in the air and he has a small step back. Not his best but he’s thrilled? I mean it’ll still be a good score even with mistakes. 15.250 (6.6, 8.650)

11:58 am. Flavia Saraiva BRA FX: Full-in, strong! She did two back handsprings into it, is that usual for her? I’ve never noticed it before. Double tuck with a bit of a wild landing, leg up. Switch leap to tour jeté full. Switch ring half. 1.5 to front full goes a bit low and long, step forward OOB. My feed froze there for a bit, but came back for the last pass, a double pike with a step back. 13.200 (5.6, 7.800, -0.2)

11:57 am. Mitchell Morgans AUS PB: A little short out of the first pirouette and then was also short on the one-arm pirouette after, muscled the single rail handstand, looks like he’s just rushing a bit. Front pike to handstand, slight sway back that he adjusts, full pirouette out I think, Healy, both good, double pike dismount, almost sticks it, just takes a tiny step. Good routine after he calmed down a bit halfway through! 14.650 (6.1, 8.550)

11:54 am. Halle Hilton IRL FX: Front layout to front double full, leg form in both flips and she doesn’t get the latter fully around, has to sit it down unfortunately. Double pike, not bad, step back. Tour jeté half to switch half to wolf jump full, loving these triple dance series connections in the last two routines! 2.5 was nice in the air for the most part, step forward. 11.750 (5.0, 6.750)

11:52 am. Ron Pyatov ISR PB: Some hand movement on a half turn before the Tippelt, slight muscle up to handstand but strong overall. Muscled up the half turn after and walked his hands out a bit, front pike to handstand, also some hand adjustments. Healy was clean. Slight adjustments in the half turn. More walks on a pirouette near the end, but hit the double front dismount. Lots of little things there that will add up, but a pretty good hit regardless! 14.050 (5.7, 8.350)

11:50 am. Cassandra Loustalot MEX FX: Arabian double front, pushes forward on the landing but alignment is a little off so she has to take a step back. Not bad though! Full-in was good, feet don’t really move, maybe a hair, just slight form in the air. Switch leap to tour jeté half to Popa, nice! Good double tuck, tiny bounce. Switch full. Strong double pike! Lovely routine. 12.900 (5.1, 7.800)

11:47 am. Suetsugi Kotaro JPN PB: Front pike to handstand, lovely, cast to the single rail and a Healy out, clean, another good pirouette but came up short on a cast to handstand after, arches over on a half turn before the Tippelt, some body line adjustments there, short on the half turn out and has to muscle the handstand up, and a double pike dismount, which was really nice. 14.500 (5.9, 8.600)

11:45 am. Kaia Tanskanen FIN FX: Full-in, a bit low going into it and some form in the air, lands a little short with a hop. 1.5 to front full, hop forward. Popa hopped into a hop full turn, fun. Double wolf turn. Position isn’t exact when she finishes but fine overall. Double tuck was nice and open, step back. Hop L turn to switch full. Good routine! 12.500 (4.9, 7.600)

11:44 am. Touch is underway for the second half!

11:41 am. Bernardo Miranda BRA PB: Pike sit with a press to handstand, clean, as was the pirouette out. Little adjustments on the half turn, great transition to the single rail and then a Healy out to grab both bars. Half turn after was a little short in handstand, double front was good, small hop back. Good work! 14.500 (5.6, 8.900)

11:38 am. Jade Barbosa BRA FX: Whip to full-in, some leg form in the air but the landing was excellent. Piked full-in, some leg separation again but another strong landing. Big Popa. Triple wolf turn. 1.5 to front full, went a bit low and long and had some form in both, step on the latter, I think I saw her foot go OOB? Hit the leap pass after. Finishes with a double pike, set was a little low but she gets it around with just a little buckle on the landing, small hop forward. 13.400 (5.6, 7.800)

11:36 am. Cameron-Lie Bernard FRA PB: Back full pirouette, legs went a little wild on the hop half turn, some ankle separation on the transitions between the bars, but mostly good on the Makuts, lovely Healy, moves his hands a bit on the 1.5 pirouette, double front with a strong landing. 14.600 (6.3, 8.300)

11:33 am. Mélanie De Jesus Dos Santos FRA FX: Strong landing on the full-twisting double layout, just slight bend in her hips throughout. Front layout through to double tuck, bounces back into a lunge. Switch to switch full. Triple wolf turn, got a little wobbly near the end but nothing super bad. Dobule pike was clean, tiny hop back. Illusion turn with a little stumble. 13.650 (5.5, 8.150)

11:31 am. Léo Saladino FRA PB: Nice front pike through to handstand. Pirouette early on out had a little hand adjustment after. Short on the half turn out. Makuts came crashing down onto the bar on the second half, had to come off sadly. Back on for a Healy and 1.5 pirouette, think his dismount was a full-in? Chest down and a small hop. 13.150 (5.7, 7.450)

11:29 am. Alexa Moreno MEX FX: Huge double double, some form in the air, step on the landing. Double layout, slight bends throughout her line but nothing too severe. Leap series went well. Arabian double front, looked like she got a big set but was really open in her saltos and landed a bit low. Wild in the double wolf turn. 13.300 (5.8, 7.500)

11:27 am. Kabeya Hinata JPN PB: Muscled out of the first pirouette, half turn out was nice, has some nice casts to handstand, nice on the Bhavsar, but arches over the handstand after, Tippelt maybe a little muscly, but not bad, double front rotation is really slow but he stands it up, just lands it a bit low with a step. 13.700 (5.6, 8.100)

11:24 am. Charlize Mörz AUT FX: Excited to see her new high difficulty routine! She has some form that needs to be worked out but I love when athletes from small programs go for it and I’m gonna be very forgiving. Full-twisting double layout, piked near the end and comes up short but not too bad, and looks a little cleaner than at the Linz friendly! Kinda stumbles out of the double L turn. Strong double layout, just a little deep on the landing, scoot back. Triple wolf turn, good! Front layout through to double tuck, a bit short there and has to put her hands down. Tour jeté full with a big hop. Triple spin, kinda falls out of this one as well. Her dance needs a LOT of work and she runs the risk of losing credit on most of these difficult elements, but again, love her and love her going for it. 11.400 (5.0, 6.400)

11:23 am. Touch is underway for parallel bars and women’s floor!

11:17 am. Balance Beam Final Standings

1. Marine Boyer, France, 13.500
2. Kaylia Nemour, Algeria, 13.500
3. Flavia Saraiva, Brazil, 13.450
4. Breanna Scott, Australia, 13.450
5. Georgia Godwin, Australia, 13.050
6. Poppy Stickler, Great Britain, 12.600
7. Maria Tronrud, Norway, 12.500
8. Ruby Stacey, Great Britain, 11.850

Men’s Vault Final Standings

1. Harry Hepworth, Great Britain, 14.700
2. Léo Saladino, France, 14.250
3. Jose Lopez, Puerto Rico, 14.250
4. Sebastian Sponevik, Norway, 14.200
5. Arthur Mariano, Brazil, 14.125
6. Kabeya Hinata, Japan, 14.000
7. Niccolò Vannucchi, Italy, 13.925
8. Ignacio Varas, Chile, 13.200

11:14 am. Marine Boyer FRA BB: Switch leap mount doesn’t get enough height and the landing ends up being short and a bit wild, good fight to stay on. Switch half. Roundoff layout, set was a bit low and she ends up short with another big wobble. Front aerial, slow to the split jump to wolf jump. Side aerial, hip alignment is off and causes another adjustment. Switch leap, wobble out of it, doesn’t connect to the side somi. What a nervous routine this is. Full turn, deep breath after, but that hit correctly for the most part. Double pike, hop back. 13.500 (5.7, 7.900, -0.1)

That puts her in first place on a tie-break. I normally don’t like claiming that people were robbed or that scores are wrong, but this situation seems like…egregiously shady lol.

11:11 am. Jose Lopez PUR VT: HUUUUGE handspring double front! Big hop forward but he FLEW off that table. Leg form is actually relatively tight, too! 14.350 (5.2, 9.150)

Second vault is a kaz 1.5, also REALLY nice for the most part. Maybe a little unsure coming in for the landing and bends his knees a bit too early but his form otherwise was very nice. 14.150 (5.2, 8.950)

14.250 average, and that will get him the bronze!

11:09 am. Poppy Stickler GBR BB: Switch leap mount, a little unsteady but uses her arms to save any bigger wobbles. Double wolf turn was clean. Front aerial. Bhs loso loso, some leg and foot form throughout and a wobble at the end. Switch leap to split jump to back handspring, break at the hips but corrects. Side aerial, pulls her chest up maybe a little late. Double tuck, rotates a bit slowly and has some leg form, but gets it around and lands it. 12.600 (5.3, 7.300)

11:07 am. Sebastian Sponevik NOR VT: He had a great qualifications! Excited for this. Starts with a handspring double front, GREAT rotation, small step forward. His chest position on the landing was almost perfect, not too far back or too far forward. Great job. 14.200 (5.2, 9.000)

MASSIVE kaz 1.5!!! Really clean too. Leg separation on the preflight and a big step forward but he’s a gorgeous vaulter. 14.200 (5.2, 9.000)

14.200 average, currently in third place

11:05 am. Ruby Stacey GBR BB: Once again they started beam before vault had ended, GET IT TOGETHER MEET ORGANIZERS. Caught this from the wolf turn, front aerial was nice, switch leap, pause, sissone to wolf jump. Good composure so far. Big wobble on the full Y turn. 1.5 dismount with a small hop. In the replay we saw the switch mount and the acro series, which had a wobble at the end. 11.850 (4.7, 7.150)

11:03 am. Ignacio Varas CHI VT: Kaz 1.5, split legs on the pre-flight, comes off the table maybe a bit low and long, rotation almost gets there but is a hair shy and his foot placement isn’t quite where it needs to be to land it, ends up sitting it down. 12.950 (5.2, 7.850, -0.1)

Handspring double front, basically sits it, jumps up out of the low landing but 99% sure he hit the mat. 13.450 (5.2, 8.350, -0.1)

13.200 average

11:01 am. Breanna Scott AUS BB: Switch leap mount, nice. Roundoff layout, form was very nice! Good side aerial. Nice on the front aerial as well. Double wolf turn was a tiny bit shaky but not too bad. Switch leap to wolf jump. Punch front, feet are a little off on the landing but she adjusts and has no problem. Double pike, chest a bit forward, hop forward. She’s so lovely to watch! 13.450 (5.6, 7.850)

10:59 am. Léo Saladino FRA VT: Kaz double full, block was a little weird and had some messy leg form, mostly just a big separation, cleaned up a little in the air (though still had some soft knees) and had a decent landing. 14.650 (5.6, 9.050)

Second vault is a handspring double front, really pushes forward hard to get the landing and ends up a bit over rotated, also really deep, has to take a big lunge forward out of it. 13.850 (5.2, 8.650)

14.250 average, puts him in second place

10:56 am. Break for the halfway point touch in this rotation!

10:54 am. Maria Tronrud NOR BB: Switch leap mount right into a jump, a little rushed, and hit the illusion turn with some form and a check. Solid bhs loso, slight adjustment but does a good job of covering it with some arms. Side aerial with a check into her jump series, a little wobbly throughout. Good side somi. Gainer pike, she was weirdly forward on her feet on the landing and had to kind of dip into it before stepping out. 12.500 (4.7, 7.800)

10:52 am. Arthur Mariano BRA VT: Really clean Shewfelt with a big step to the side (OOB I think) on the landing. The distance he got looked awesome from the angle we had! 14.300 (5.2, 9.200, -0.1)

Second vault is a big and lovely kaz full, again close to perfect in the air, so clean! Just a little short on the landing with a hop. 13.950 (4.8, 9.150)

14.125 average

10:50 am. Flavia Saraiva BRA BB: We jumped into this routine during the full turn, may have missed the start? Super solid and clean bhs loso. Switch ring is excellent. Front aerial to split ring jump, back foot was a little weird, and she had a slight check. Tiniest adjustment on the side somi. Switch leap to sissone. Double pike with a step back, was that a hit?! We definitely missed the Korbut series at the beginning. 13.450 (5.5, 7.950)

10:45 am. Harry Hepworth GBR VT: Massive height on the Dragulescu, some cowboy but not the worst, chest forward, feet apart on the landing with a hop back.

Looks to be some drama with the scoring on that vault, lots of people walking around looking official. I have the sound off so I can multitask a podcast so no clue what’s happening. Finally comes in as 14.450 (5.6, 8.850)

Second vault is a handspring randi, leg form in the air is actually pretty strong, just pikes a little bit coming off the table, but he stretches out and it’s really just some softness in his knees. Landing is solid. 14.950 (5.6, 9.350)

14.700 average!

10:44 am. Georgia Godwin AUS BB: Side somi was good. Bhs loso had some leg form throughout and a kind of bouncy landing but she fought for it. Switch leap, low back leg, to side aerial, slow to the split jump to sissone. Good on the double wolf turn. Strong double pike, chest forward but just a small hop. A busy but great day for her! 13.050 (5.4, 7.650)

10:40 am. Kabeya Hinata JPN VT: Huge kaz double full, twists so fast and his leg form is SO nice! Tiny step. Maybe sliiiightly soft knees in the air. But overall very nice. 14.850 (5.6, 9.250)

Second vault is a handspring double front…and he sits it. A lot of power again but looked to be just a bit too far back on his heels. His form in the air was great, though, very little cowboy! 13.150 (5.2, 7.950)

14.000 average

10:38 am. Kaylia Nemour ALG BB: Layout stepout mount with a slight adjustment, and then a lovely bhs loso loso series, slight check at the end. Switch leap to switch half, some leg form, to Korbut. Front aerial to split jump with a little pause into the sissone. Full turn. Clean side aerial. Dismounts with a 2.5, a little over rotated and lacks control on the landing, step forward/to the side. 13.500 (5.6, 7.900)

10:34 am. Niccolò Vannucchi ITA VT: Kaz double! Some form in the air with his lower legs especially, but really strong on the landing, good rotation and just a medium step back. 14.550 (5.6, 8.950)

Second vault is a Dragulescu, looks like he just need a little more of a block, can’t get the half turn more than a quarter around and crashes to his hands and knees. 13.300 (5.6, 7.800, -0.1)

13.925 average

10:33 am. Touch should be just about wrapping up!

10:30 am. I think we’re finally ready! Athletes are marching out for balance beam and men’s vault.

10:21 am. Okay, lots of ads now, it might be even longer. Again, I’ll tweet when it’s back if you don’t want to keep refreshing!

10:14 am. So the medal ceremony took a little bit longer because Salvatore Maresca used this time to propose to his girlfriend!! We’re on a commercial break now but hopefully should be back with the next introductions around 10:20 or so? Maybe 10:25?

9:48 am. According to the schedule, the next events should begin at 4:15 pm local time (aka 10:15 am my time if you’re following my time stamps).

9:42 am. Yes, there’s a medal ceremony break for the first five events. I’ll be back in 15-20 minutes or so? Will tweet when it’s back.

9:39 am. I think we might have a break for some medal ceremonies now? I’ll let you know! 🙂

7. Niccolò Vannucchi, Italy, 13.900
8. Cameron-Lie Bernard, France, 13.450

9:33 am. Natalia Escalera MEX UB: Van Leeuwen, needs to turn it around more, some leg separation, blind change to piked Jaeger, Tkachev (flexed feet) to Pak (some leg separation), Maloney (leg separation) to Gienger (straddles her legs when catching), toe full to full-in, deep but doesn’t look like she moves her feet, maybe slightly. Needs to tighten up throughout but a good hit! 13.400 (5.9, 7.500)

9:31 am. Vinzenz Höck AUT SR: Love to see him leading at the past couple of meets! Pike to iron cross was nice, pulls up to maltese, inverted hang to saltos to maltese, planche down to iron cross, inverted hang into the handstand, and a strong full-twisting double layout with a hop on the landing. 14.650 (6.1, 8.550)

9:29 am. Rebeca Andrade BRA UB: Maloney to stalder full, rushed, to piked Tkachev to Pak to van Leeuwen, everything is so clean! Blind change to piked Jaeger, nice air, arches over on the half turn after, toe full goes well, to double double, deep with a step back. Mostly amazing stuff! 14.600 (6.4, 8.200)

9:27 am. Niccolò Vannucchi ITA SR: I caught it from the pike sit into the saltos to iron cross, little adjustments to get into the correct position, inverted hang to front giant to handstand, slight sway in his back and little muscling, back giant to handstand, and a deep but stuck double double dismount. 13.900 (5.4, 8.500)

9:26 am. Flavia Saraiva BRA UB: Toe full to piked Tkachev to Pak, strong! Toe-on to Maloney (leg separation) to Gienger, really close to the bar which halts her swing a little but not in a way that affects her. Front giant to double front, great landing! That’s close to the best she can do this routine, minus the catch on the Gienger. 13.600 (5.6, 8.000)

9:24 am. Samir Aït Saïd FRA SR: I missed literally all of this except the dismount, sadly! The dismount looked good, a full-twisting double layout with a step. He looks happy about it so I assume there was nothing too damning in the rest of the routine. 14.450 (6.2, 8.250)

9:21 am. Kaylia Nemour ALG UB: Inbar layout Tkachev (now the Nemour!) to Pak to Maloney to stalder full, arches over and can’t control it, has to take an extra half turn and then an extra swing before the Derwael-Fenton to Ezhova to Chow half, inbar full, rushes through it, and a double layout dismount. 14.100 (6.6, 7.500)

9:19 am. Harry Hepworth GBR SR: High planche but his hip form is a little weird, to maltese, to iron cross, nice position. Saltos to maltese, nice. Iron cross, inverted pike to saltos to handstand, strong position when he finishes. Back giant to handstand. Triple double dismount, a little low, hop forward. 14.200 (5.8, 8.400)

9:17 am. Touch for the second half!

9:14 am. Ahtziri Sandoval MEX UB: Shaposh to Pak, pretty clean. Maloney to bail to toe shoot, caught a little close but no problem getting out of it. Blind full to Gienger, legs go a bit wild and straddled, hop change (muscles through it) to front giant half, and damn, a double double dismount! 13.200 (5.7, 7.500)

9:12 am. Cameron-Lie Bernard FRA SR: Strong hold in the iron cross. Also has a nice maltese, another iron cross, inverted hang into the saltos to pike sit, presses to handstand, clean and fluid. Back giant to handstand was a little short and needed an adjustment, full-twisting double layout dismount looked to be the least piked out of all the ones we’ve seen today, and he has a really strong landing as well. 13.450 (5.2, 8.250)

9:09 am. Caitlin Rooskrantz RSA UB: Shaposh to Pak, nice. Toe full, right ot handstand, to van Leeuwen, some leg separation, my feed froze for a second, I caught up at the piked Jaeger, Church to Gienger! Leg form and has to muscle out of it, but damn! Full-out with a step back. 13.900 (6.0, 7.900)

9:07 am. Salvatore Maresca ITA SR: Love the push up into the planche, through to maltese, inverted hang to the front giant to inverted cross, saltos to maltese, legs start a little low but he pulls them up, out to iron cross, inverted hang through to planche, inverted hang to front giant to handstand, tiniest muscle to adjust, back giant to handstand was slightly cleaner, full-twisting double layout, some pike down and a hop. 14.700 (6.2, 8.500)

9:05 am. Mélanie De Jesus Dos Santos FRA UB: Chow to blind full, Nabieva to Pak, much nicer than yesterday, Maloney to stalder half, some bent arms, to Ezhova, van Leeuwen, full-twisting double layout with just a small step on the landing. Really nice work. I love that everyone yesterday saw one weak-ish routine and were like SHE’S REGRESSED SO MUCH when just a month ago at classics everyone was like SHE LOOKS BETTER THAN EVER. Gym fans, we’re dramatic! 14.700 (6.3, 8.400)

9:02 am. Daniel Villafañe ARG SR: Maltese, inverted hang with a front giant to inverted cross, arms could be straighter I think? Swings to a planche, inverted hang through to saltos to iron cross, holds it well, maltese to iron cross, also really nice, inverted hang, front giant to handstand, nice and clean, full-twisting double layout with a tiny hop and arm swing to hold it, he’s thrilled! 14.200 (6.2, 8.200)

9:00 am. Georgia Godwin AUS UB: Weiler to Weiler full, legs get a little wonky, but corrects into the piked Jaeger, Pak, Maloney to Pak to toe-on to van Leeuwen, and a double layout, some leg separation in the air and a slight step. Really don’t love the two Paks in this routine but hey, if it works for her, go for it I guess? Also ICYMI, the Weiler full should now be the Godwin! 13.750 (5.6, 8.150)

8:59 am. Courtney Tulloch GBR SR: I missed the very beginning, saw the malltese before the saltos to handstand, which was strong. Swings through to. planche then pulls down to an iron cross in piked position, iron cross after that was also strong, back giant to handstand has a little adjustment to get there, and he hits the full-twisting double layout with some pike throughout and a hop on the landing. 14.700 (6.2, 8.500)

8:57 am. Touch is underway!

8:54 am. Athletes are being introduced for rings and uneven bars!

8:51 am. Women’s Vault Final Standings

4. Ahtziri Sandoval, Mexico, 13.525
5. Camille Rasmussen, Denmark, 13.400
6. Tijana Korent, Croatia, 12.950
7. Caleigh Anders, South Africa, 12.800
8. Halle Hilton, Ireland, 11.825

Pommel Horse Final Standings

1. Max Whitlock, Great Britain, 15.450
2. Rhys McClenaghan, Ireland, 15.100
3. Edoardo de Rosa, Italy, 15.000
4. Benjamin Osberger, France, 14.350
5. Adam Steele, Ireland, 13.900
6. Diogo Soares, Brazil, 13.900
7. Lukas Dauser, Germany, 13.500
8. Matvei Petrov, Albania, 12.150

8:48 am. Ahtziri Sandoval MEX VT: Tsuk double full, twists REALLY fast, maybe too rushed coming off of the table though. Legs are pretty well glued off the table, though split as she twists. Deep landing with a step forward OOB. 13.650 (5.2, 8.750, -0.3)

Second vault is a handspring front layout half, maybe a little low in her block? Pikes down a little for the landing but again when she first comes off of the table her extension is pretty good! 13.400 (4.6, 8.800)

13.525 average

8:47 am. Diogo Soares BRA PH: A Brazilian getting a 14+ in international pommels yesterday, we can’t help but stan. The beginning goes well, strong work in the Busnari down right into the flairs, he looks great actually, just closes his hips a little in the circles after the flairs, and then he loses his leg form in the Russians, but snaps them back together and is able to finish strong. Yay!!! 13.900 (5.8, 8.100)

8:44 am. Caleigh Anders RSA VT: Yurchenko full, some leg separation and bent knees, but flares a little as she comes in for the landing, hop back. 12.950 (4.2, 8.750)

Handspring front pike for the second vault, the block is a bit wonky, but she’s able to get the salto around pretty well, nice pike shape, just slight knee bend, big step forward on the landing. 12.650 (3.8, 8.850)

12.800 average

8:42 am. Edoardo de Rosa ITA PH: Scissors to circles, hips are really closed and feet are floppy. I just want to stretch him out. Better form in the Russians, but then gets floppy again back in the circles. Moves cleanly and fluidly into the dismount, though! 15.000 (6.4, 8.600)

8:40 am. Halle Hilton IRL VT: She was the reserve for this final despite doing two vaults from the same family and incurring a 2 point penalty! Does her new Yurchenko double – or REVIVED Yurchenko double, since she started training it as an espoir – but doesn’t quite have the block and ends up bouncing back and sitting it. 12.500 (5.0, 7.800, -0.3)

Yurchenko full for the second vault, so she’ll get the penalty again and has no shot at a medal regardless of the fall on the first vault. No biggie. Really bent elbows on the table, but gets it around well enough, just minor form and a little low on the landing with a step back. 11.150 (4.2, 8.950, -2.0)

11.825 average

8:38 am. Rhys McClenaghan IRL PH: Lovely scissors to handstands down to circles, oof, his hips go a bit wild on the one-arm swing though. Russians on the single pommel, then moves to circles again, his hips aren’t as open as usual, Russians between the handles go well enough, then travels with only minor hip form, Russians at the end of the horse, lots of leg form breaks going up into the dismount, yeah, that wasn’t his best and I think he knows it, but good fight throughout. 15.100 (6.6, 8.500) – a better score than I thought but he looks pissed

8:36 am. Camille Rasmussen DEN VT: Yurchenko double, knees are a bit tucked throughout, and she lands with her chest forward with a step back, but good job getting it around! 13.850 (5.0, 8.850)

Tsuk full for the second vault, I think that’s an upgrade? Some bent knees and piked hips throughout, needs to just tighten it up everywhere, but again gets it around well and just takes a step back. 12.950 (4.4, 8.650, -0.1)

13.400 average

8:34 am. Matvei Petrov ALB PH: Scissors to handstand, kind of muscles a bit and adjusts in handstand, but fixes quickly and goes down well into the circles. Nice straight body position for the most part, but really loses leg form going into the Busnari. His rhythm never quite recovers throughout the pirouette and ultimately he has to hop off, sadly. Back on for his flair work but ends up a bit too far back on his hands at one point and he can’t pull back up, comes off again. Back on to continue with more flairs, travels back and forth and transitions well to straight circles, clean transition up into the handstand for the dismount. Bummer routine. 12.150 (5.6, 6.550)

8:31 am. Touch for the second half!

8:27 am. Alexa Moreno MEX VT: She currently ties Jade Carey and Joscelyn Roberson for the highest level of combined vault difficulty in the world! That’s exciting. First vault is a handspring rudi, leg form throughout, including some separation and knee bend, but just a small hop back. Pretty strong overall I’d say. 14.400 (5.4, 9.000)

Tsuk double full for her second vault, again with the leg form throughout, and she lands this one a bit weird in the rotation, legs apart on the landing and her chest is pretty much at her knees. 13.750 (5.2, 8.550)

14.075 average, now she’s in first!

8:25 am. Lukas Dauser GER PH: Scissors to circles, good transitions, works well between skill variety in his circles after that, a little low in one of his Russian elements, legs are a little close to the horse on the Russians in general, but he manages to stay just high enough to not touch, Russians into the dismount, solid set. 13.500 (5.0, 8.500)

8:23 am. Georgia Godwin AUS VT: Handspring front layout full, some form throughout as her knees are pretty tucked, though not enough to downgrade, and she comes in a little low with a hop forward. 13.800 (5.0, 8.800)

Goes for a tsuk 1.5 for the second vault and she STICKS IT!!!! OKAY!!! No one looks more surprised than she does. Some tucked knees again but I’m so excited about that landing. 13.900 (4.8, 9.100)

13.850 average, moves her to first place!

8:21 am. Adam Steele IRL PH: Scissors to handstand down to scissors into the circle work, one-arm swing, good circle work on the single pommels, but has a big leg form break as he transitions down to the horse. Travels well enough, just some hip and foot form throughout, and he makes it through to the dismount without issue. 13.900 (5.6, 8.300)

8:18 am. Tijana Korent CRO VT: Handspring front pike half, kind of low coming off the table, but she gets it around without any major issues, probably lands it a little too close to the table, but her form errors are pretty minor throughout. 12.800 (4.0, 8.800)

Second vault is the Yurchenko full, big leg separation in the pre-flight and as she pushes off of the table, but she pulls them together. A little piked and her chest is forward on the landing. 13.100 (4.2, 8.900)

12.950 average

8:17 am. Benjamin Osberger FRA PH: Scissors to handstand work is good, nice transition down into his circles, one-arm goes well, as does pretty much everything else, some closed hips throughout and he has minor leg form breaks here and there, but nothing severe. Good push up into the handstand for the dismount, and he gets it around well enough. 14.350 (5.7, 8.650)

8:14 am. Coline Devillard FRA VT: Handspring rudi, some leg from throughout, some piked hips throughout that are especially noticeable as she comes in for the landing, and she has her chest close to her knees with a hop, HOWEVER, it looked better than it has in the past! 14.250 (5.4, 8.850)

Yurchenko full for the second vault, block is actually a little low, though she still gets some good distance, flares it, but takes a big hop back. 13.350 (4.2, 9.150)

13.800 average

8:12 am. Max Whitlock GBR PH: The stream froze the second he mounted so I missed the very beginning, caught it from his one billion Russians on the single handle, nice, then moves to Russians between the pommels. Hips could be better extended as always, moves slowly into and throughout the Busnari, travels well, loses some leg form going up into the dismount but he tightens up quickly and gets it around into the landing. 15.450 (6.9, 8.550)

8:09 am. Touch is underway for our next events!

8:08 am. Oh, cool, they’re doing in-arena interviews with the winners, I love that. Pyrotechnics aside, I love the vibe of this competition every year, they make it as exciting as a world championships.

8:05 am. Athletes are marching out for the pommel horse and women’s vault finals, so I guess they will be going simultaneously!

8:04 am. Men’s Floor Final Standings

1. Hiramatsu Koga, Japan, 14.700
2. Benjamin Osberger, France, 14.650
3. Luke Whitehouse, Great Britain, 14.650
4. Jake Jarman, Great Britain, 14.450
5. Arthur Mariano, Brazil, 14.200
6. Jorge Vega Lopez, Guatemala, 13.800
7. Juan Larrahondo, Colombia, 12.500
8. Clay Mason Stephens, Australia, 11.750

8:01 am. Luke Whitehouse GBR FX: Triple back! Hop back. Front double full to double front. Triple double, these British men!!! Step back OOB. Double double DOWN THE SIDE. Piked double front rotated a bit slowly and he lost some knee form but still got the landing around without issue. 2.5 to front layout, hop. Triple full, some leg form but a good landing. Another great routine! 14.650 (6.9, 7.850, -0.1)

7:58 am. Hiramatsu Koga JPN FX: Front full to randi, some form in the air, but pretty great landing. Double double, looks like he has it but then wobbles and has to bounce back. 3.5, a little deep, small hop to the side. 2.5 to front layout, really arched in the latter. 1.5 to front double full, stuck, but not like, cold stuck if that makes sense. Triple full WAS cold stuck! Great routine. 14.700 (5.9, 8.800) – that moves him into the lead!

7:54 am. Jake Jarman GBR FX: Double layout with…it looks like 2.5 twists and not the 3.5 that he debuted in quals. I could be wrong, though, he’s sooooo fast. No, just saw it in the replay and it WAS the 3.5! Still truly can’t even comprehend it. Triple double, a little low, hop forward. Casual. Double double, makes it look easy. Triple full down the side, stuck. Again, CASUAL! Front full to randi, good landing. Front layout to rudi I think after that? 3.5 to finish, a little deep with a step forward. OKAY SIR!!! Petition for him to take over as King of England. 14.450 (6.4, 8.050)

7:51 am. Clay Mason Stephens AUS FX: Piked double front, tiny hop forward. Front full to double front, comes in a bit low and is cowboyed, sits it unfortunately. Double double, chest forward and a small bounce. 2.5, misses his footing but still punches out of it straight to his head, terrifying. Triple full and then an arabian double front to finish. Both were fine, I was still traumatized by the previous landing to pay too much attention but nothing majorly wrong with either. He’s okay, thankfully! 11.750 (5.4, 6.350)

7:50 am. Touch for the second half. Osberger leads after the first four. Obsessed with his E score!

7:46 am. Benjamin Osberger FRA FX: I love his floor sooooo much. Punch into a clean and stuck randi to start! Double double with a hop back. 2.5 to front layout to front full, really nice. Russians into a split. Clean double full down the side, flared and stuck. Front double full to front tuck full, stuck. Triple full, clean and stuck! So many nice landings, and he’s so clean in general, A+ routine. 14.650 (5.6, 9.050)!

7:43 am. Arthur Mariano BRA FX: Piked double front, looked clean from this angle, tiny hop. Front double full to front tuck down to front support, ooh! Whip to 2.5 to front layout, also ooh! Japanese press handstand from a split, rolls over into the corner for the 1.5 to front full, clean and stuck. Arabian double front, lovely in the air, big step forward. He’s VERY happy and is basically skipping away. 14.200 (5.5, 8.700)

7:39 am. Jorge Vega Lopez GUA FX: Big punch into a randi to start, just a big step to the side on the landing. Piked double front, tiny bounce. Full-twisting double layout, small hop there. Full-in DOWN THE SIDE, yes, okay! His back handsprings are sooooooo low, I kinda love it. Front double full to front layout to tucked barani, good. Russians. 1.5 to front full to layout barani. 2.5 to finish, step forward, but this was a solid set! Nice to see him back on a major stage. 13.800 (5.9, 7.900)

7:36 am. Juan Larrahondo COL FX: Front full to double front, powerful! Step forward OOB though. Double double, stuck cold, that was an awesome pass! Front double full to front tuck full, step forward OOB. Double full down the side, lands with a bit of a buckle in his knees and it causes him to hop a bit. 2.5 to front layout, lovely form, just arches a little bit and comes up slightly short at the end but not bad at all. Triple full to finish had a big bounce. Mostly strong work! He’s super explosive in his tumbling, just needed a little more control on some of the landings. Basically every other landing was great, though. 12.500 (4.8, 7.900, -0.2)

He’s missing D, I am gonna guess from the strength elements? It looked like he only did a handstand so I don’t know what went wrong there.

7:33 am. The touch warmup is underway, so we should see some action very shortly! 🙂

7:30 am. The athletes are here! The men’s floor gymnasts have officially entered the arena for their introductions.

7:28 am. Now there’s lots of fire and explosions in the arena as well as a laser light show of sorts which must means the athletes are coming! It’s been going on for a full two minutes, I truly cannot.

7:25 am. Okay, this is a LONG intro. They’re now showing all of the country flags for the 44 participating countries. Hold your horses.

7:21 am. Intros are still happening right now in the arena, but athletes should be marching in shortly.

It looks like they’re gonna go one event at a time I think, instead of tag-teaming the MAG and WAG events? At least that’s what the competition schedule looks like on the graphic they just showed on the stream, but we’ll see.

7:20 am. Who’s excited to watch all 10 finals?! The live stream is on Sport en France (I’m using a VPN, NordVPN specifically), and live scores are on Longines Timing.

  1. Not sure I am a fan of allowing someone to compete with 2 vaults from the same family. I know they incur a 2 point penalty (effectively 1 point when averaged) but I still feel entering 2 vaults of the same family takes something away from the competition and feels a little disrespectful.

    • I think she really only did vault here because she wanted to try out her Yurchenko double before worlds. Plenty of gymnasts register to compete vault and just compete one vault or two same-family vaults for this reason, so it’s nothing new or really disrespectful or against any rules. What’s amazing is that even with the two-point penalty, she still managed to place high enough to get the reserve spot! I would be fine if they made a rule that says athletes who perform two same-family vaults in qualifications can’t be eligible for the final, but I don’t think it’s a problem to compete two same-family vaults in quals. Especially since there aren’t really any major international AA competitions outside of continental championships and worlds right now…meaning there’s really no other place to test vaults at this level.

    • Agreed, I very rarely doubt the judges’ expertise even when I personally feel like rankings are wrong, but this was very bad judging. She had so many big mistakes and wobbles, I thought her E score would’ve been closer to a 7.0 than to an 8. The judges are basically saying that without all of the mistakes her E score would’ve been like a 9.5 or something! Just does not make any sense.
