This weekend, China hosted its individual national championship competition in Wuyuan, where first-year senior and Asian Championships medalist Zhang Xinyi won the women’s all-around title, while Wei Guozheng won the men’s.

Unfortunately, there aren’t any complete results lists out there, but I was able to track down the medalists for each event and will recap everything here.

Zhang led the competition in the all-around with a 54.699 and on beam with a 14.333 during qualifications, and despite a fall on beam in the final, she managed to take the title with a combined total of 107.300, putting up a 52.331 in the final. Xiang Lulu had the top all-around score in the final, with a 53.099 combining with her 53.199 from qualifications to win the silver medal with a 106.298 total, while veteran Luo Huan won the bronze with a 105.932 after scoring a 53.399 in prelims and a 52.533 in the final.

On vault, Ye Dandan won the gold with a 12.899 average, narrowly defeating Wu Jianqiong, who led the competition in prelims but ended up with silver in the final with a 12.883, while Gao Siqi was third with a 12.733. Veteran Du Siyu won the bars title with a 14.3, ahead of prelims leader Hu Jiafei with a 14.133 for silver and Yang Fanyuwei with a 14.1 for bronze.

The beam title ended up going to Luo, who had a 14.033 to get the gold by nearly half a point ahead of junior standouts Yu Hanyue and Zeng Qinxin, who shared the silver medals with scores of 13.566. And on floor, first-year senior Chen Xinyi, who was sixth in the all-around final, won the title with a 14.1, defeating Yang Jingxi with a 14.0 for silver, and the ever enduring Shang Chunsong with a 13.766 for bronze.

In the men’s competition, we saw a number of strong specialists contending here, though the all-around competition was a bit light, with champion Wei largely unknown. The athlete from Shandong placed sixth all-around at nationals last year, and was 10th at the National Games in 2021, but he hasn’t yet competed internationally. He had a slight lead over Ta Yinga in qualifications, with a 79.699 to Ta’s 79.599, but Ta struggled in the final to put up just a 77.997, finishing third, while Wei improved his score to an 80.331 to grab the title with a 160.030, just a little over two tenths ahead of Xu Chengyu with a 79.198 in prelims and an 80.597 in the final for silver.

The specialists dominated the apparatus podiums, where Huang Baiji won the floor title with a 14.466, Zhang Wei won the pommels title with a 14.366, Meng Zhiwei won the rings title with a 14.5, He Quqin won the vault title with a 14.883 average, Xie Chenyi won the parallel bars final with a 14.8, and Zhang Yangyu won the high bar title with a 14.066, also securing bronze on parallel bars with a 13.833, while all-around champion Wei won the bronze on high bar with a 13.866.
