11:14 am. Alice Kinsella GBR BB: Front aerial to split jump. Side aerial to layout stepout, good! Hit the Korbut series. 2.5 with a hop to the side. Oh she’s so happy! They had a fantastic day. 13.600

11:10 am. Jordan Chiles USA FX: I didn’t see her first passes but saw she hit the latter of the two! The rest was hit as well! In the replay got the full-twisting double layout which looked great. 13.966

Nakamura Haruka JPN UB: Caught the Def and the Nakamura! Then the piked Jaeger. Came apart in a handstand on the high bar at one point, legs split, shocking she stayed on! Deep on the dismount, big step forward. 12.433

11:07 am. Becky Downie GBR BB: Slight wobble on the switch leap mount. Gets the jump series after. Side aerial to back handspring, good. Switch leap to full turn. Front aerial. Cartwheel to 1.5 dismount. Good! 12.933

11:06 am. Kishi Rina JPN UB: Maloney to Pak was nice. Van Leeuwen, stalder to blind change to big straddle Jaeger, toe full a bit late, and dismounts with a full-out with a step back. 13.600

11:05 am. Rebeca Andrade BRA VT: Gorgeous huge Cheng, hop back. 15.100

11:03 am. Alice D’Amato ITA FX: Double double, big step back OOB. Triple full lands kind of stiff-legged and short, big step. Front double full with a hop forward. Switch ring. Great! 13.466

11:02 am. Qiu Qiyuan CHN VT: Tsuk full, not bad! So clean in the air. A little short with a hop back. 13.133

11:01 am. Flavia Saraiva BRA VT: Yurchenko double full, big step forward but a nice solid hit! 13.900

Ana Barbosu ROU BB: Didn’t see parts of this but think she had a hit. 12.700

Ellie Black CAN UB: Maloney to Hindorff, looked like the release to mixed grip (clear hip pike Tkachev) had to hop around and turn her direction? Had another release after that and then a Pak and van Leeuwen IIRC. Toe front half dismount with a hop. 12.800

Rebeca Andrade BRA FX: Full-twisting double layout, hop back. Leap after was a tour jeté full I believe, not quite controlled. Memmel to jump was nice. Double layout, stuck! That was gorg. Double pike, similar issue as quals, big bounce on the landing and her leg flies up. 14.200

10:39 am. Ana Barbosu ROU UB: Maloney to clear hip full, Shang to Pak, Shaposh to mixed grip to Ezhova, feet hit the mat and she’s off. Sad, this was going so well. Back on for a van Leeuwen, a bit messy, and a full-in with a hop / step back. 12.433

  1. BEYOND thrilled for Italy and Brazil but especially Jade Barbosa, who has been waiting for this moment for actual decades now. What a legacy she has left in Brazilian gymnastics!!! SO proud of her and Rebe and Julia and Lorrane and Flavinha!!!

Also, Angela Andreoli is the most adorable smol bean, and Manila Esposito needs to be dubbed the Queen of Italy immediately.

  2. so many mixed emotions from this final. Thrilled for all the medalists, but how I wish GB could have tied for the bronze. It has to be so bittersweet for the Alices. D’Amato because her twin wasn’t able to be there, and Kinsella because she’s personally performed better here than in Tokyo but they just missed a medal. Romania putting in a solid competition was a bright spot, but China melting down was sad. Having two of the medals go down to the wire made this much more exhilarating. Italy’s happy tears after Andreolli finished her routine set me off too.

  3. The level of this olympic team final was disappointed except for the US and Italy teams. The russian team is absolutly neccesary and I don’t understand how the israeli representation can to stay there, happy with their flag and himn.

    • YES! Thank you!!! Israel fighting a terrorist group and survival as a country as well as wanting to get their hostages back is NOT the same as Russia invading Ukraine.
