Apparatus Champions

VT – Leanne Wong 28.175
UB – Skye Blakely & Hezly Rivera 27.600
BB – Hezly Rivera 28.350
FX – Hezly Rivera 28.200

8:54 pm. Dulcy Caylor BB: Jumped into this a bit late but what I saw was hit! 13.900

8:51 pm. Hezly Rivera FX: Full-twisting double layout, hop back into the corner. Double layout, also a hop back but it’s pretty minor. Double wolf turn goes well. Front tuck through to double tuck, a bounce back there as well but again nothing severe. Switch ring to split ring leap. Nice on the 2.5! Controlled step forward. 14.200

8:49 pm. Ashlee Sullivan BB: Double wolf turn, smooth. Standing arabian is solid. Strong bhs loso. Front aerial to straddle jump to split jump, jumps could be a little tidier and with more amplitude. Onodi with minor leg form. Switch leap. Double pike, chest down and a step forward. 13.450

8:47 pm. Leanne Wong FX: Solid double double to start! Chest down but good in terms of the feet position. Whip half to front full with a step forward into an arabesque. Good on her leap series. Double pike was pretty clean, just ends up a bit short with her chest down and a lunge forward. 13.600

Alicia Zhou UB: 13.750

8:45 pm. Reese Esponda BB: Double wolf turn went well. Standing back tuck, solid. Bhs layout with a little step back. Switch leap. Side aerial, maybe a little slow to the jump series. Double pike, clean in the air but low off the beam, ends up really low with her chest down and a lunge forward. 12.500

Annalisa Milton UB: 12.950

8:44 pm. Claire Pease FX: Double double to start, hop back OOB. Good landing on the 1.5 to rudi. Switch ring to switch half. Double pike, a little tentative, chest down and a hop back. 2.5 with a big bounce forward to finish. 13.350

8:42 pm. Tiana Sumanasekera BB: I caught this from the Korbut series, which was nice. Switch ring, back foot was flexed. Side aerial was nice. Dismounted with a double pike, chest at her knees but good landing otherwise. 13.850

8:41 pm. Gabrielle Hardie UB: Wasn’t typing for this but it was a nice hit! Lovely double layout to finish. 13.450

Catherine Guy VT: 12.600

8:39 pm. Harlow Buddendeck FX: Triple full with some ankle form and maybe a hair short in rotation but a good landing overlal. Memmel turn. Tour jeté full, casual! 1.5 to front layout.13.000

Jayla Hang VT: Yurchenko double full, clean and almost stuck! Just steps quickly into the salute. 14.300

Hang finished her day with a 55.400 today! Damn.

Jordis Eichman BB: 12.450

8:38 pm. Joscelyn Roberson UB: Shaposh with leg form to half turn to Ezhova, toe full to Maloney with minor leg form to Gienger, also some separation there, clear hip, full-twisting double layout with slight pike down in the air but a stick! 13.700

8:37 pm. Simone Rose VT: Yurchenko 1.5, went a little low and long off the table but mostly strong in the air and the landing was kind of good! 13.650

Brooke Pierson BB: 12.850

Ally Damelio UB: 12.900

8:35 pm. Nola Matthews FX: Front full through to 2.5, actually looked a little iffy coming out of the full and I think it slowed her down into the 2.5 but she finished it off pretty well with just a large step forward. Whip full through to double tuck, chest down and a small hop. Think she had a switch half through to tour jeté half for her leap series. Double pike, low chest, pulled it up and ended up stumbling back OOB. 12.800

Izzy Stassi VT: 13.550

8:33 pm. They just announced 2026 U.S. Championships are going to be in Phoenix! I actually low key love Phoenix but like…not in August.

8:30 pm. Rotation 3 Standings

1. Hezly Rivera 97.800
2. Leanne Wong 97.600
3. Joscelyn Roberson 95.900
4. Ashlee Sullivan 94.500
5. Simone Rose 94.250
6. Gabrielle Hardie 93.400
7. Jayla Hang 93.350
8. Dulcy Caylor 92.800

8:25 pm. Leanne Wong BB: Switch leap, good. Clean side aerial. Switch leap to switch half with a little wobble. Switch ring, good. Solid bhs loso. Easy double wolf turn. Front aerial to split jump to straddle jump, looked like she might wobble but kinda just absorbed it. Side somi is solid. Stuck the tucked gainer full with a little balance check in her hips. 13.950

8:21 pm. Claire Pease BB: Clean double wolf turn. Switch leap to split jump to Onodi, break at the hips and then falls over, grabs the beam, and comes off. Nails the bhs loso loso. Front aerial slow to the straddle jump but gets that nicely to the back handspring. Clean side aerial. Switch half was fine. 2.5 with crossed legs and a small hop. 12.800

Ashlee Sullivan UB: Weiler half to Maloney to blind full with some leg form deductions to Tkachev to Pak, nice! Toe-on to van Leeuwen with leg form, a little short on the full-twisting double layout dismount, step forward. 13.500

8:18 pm. Jayla Hang FX: 2.5 to front layout, pretty clean throughout! Whip full to double tuck, a little short on the landing but nothing severe, just a small hop. Nice leap series. Clean double pike with a great landing. Popa before her ending choreo to wrap things up. 13.750

Reese Esponda UB: 12.000

Harlow Buddendeck BB: 12.900

8:16 pm. Tiana Sumanasekera UB: Chow to Pak, Maloney to Ricna, hop change to straddle Jaeger, some form on the last two releases, toe-on to blind change with some leg form on both, some body line form on the blind full, and then lands the tucked full-out dismount with her hands on the mat. 11.550

Nola Matthews BB: 12.900

8:14 pm. Simone Rose FX: 2.5 to tucked barani to split jump, some form and maybe looked a little lost for a second but got it under control. Think she had a 1.5 to front full after that IIRC. Double tuck, minor leg form but a good landing. 13.600

8:12 pm. Jordis Eichman UB: Toe full, Chow half with minor leg separation, straddle Jaeger, Pak, van Leeuwen with some leg separation, toe-on to full-out, chest down but a good landing. 13.150

Izzy Stassi FX: 13.300

8:10 pm. Skye Blakely BB: Nailed the standing full. Large-ish wobble on the front handspring front tuck. Switch to switch half to back tuck, slow between the leaps and tuck. Front aerial to split jump to back handspring. Side aerial. High double tuck, some leg form in the air but a good landing. 14.400

Annalisa Milton VT: WOW, a perfectly stuck Yurchenko 1.5! Such an NCAA slay. 13.800

Brooke Pierson UB: 11.800

8:09 pm. Gabrielle Hardie VT: Yurchenko 1.5, really nice in the air, just minor leg form. Hop forward. 13.700

Catherine Guy FX: 12.400

8:07 pm. Joscelyn Roberson VT: Yurchenko double full, loose in the form throughout especially in her legs and has a bouncy landing with a couple of steps back OOB. 13.050

Dulcy Caylor UB: 11.900

8:04 pm. Hezly Rivera BB: Double wolf turn to start, nice. Side aerial to split jump to straddle jump, a little slow. Bhs layout was super solid. Switch half slow to the Korbut which was also a little crooked. She’s playing with fire on some of these connections, including the front aerial to ring jump that just happened. Which is why the judges accepting the three-tenth inquiry on Friday was unhinged. Switch ring. Stuck double pike with her chest down. 14.000

Alicia Zhou VT: 12.950

Ally Damelio VT: 13.000

7:58 pm. Rotation 2 Standings

1. Hezly Rivera 83.800
2. Leanne Wong 83.650
3. Joscelyn Roberson 82.850
4. Ashlee Sullivan 81.000
5. Dulcy Caylor 80.900
6. Simone Rose 80.650
7. Tiana Sumanasekera 80.550
8. Gabrielle Hardie 79.700

Roberson submitted an inquiry on floor and her score was bumped to a 13.750! Doesn’t change the AA standings.

7:54 pm. Gabrielle Hardie FX: Clean 2.5 to front layout and then 1.5 to front full! Solid double tuck at the end. 13.900

This seems really high lmao they gave her an 8.600 E? Okay

7:53 pm. Simone Rose BB: Bhs loso loso, very nice! Clean side aerial to split jump to straddle jump, tiniest check at the end. Front aerial with a stumble. 2.5 with some leg form in the air and a hop on the landing. 13.600

7:51 pm. Claire Pease UB: Endo half to toe full to Komova II to low Tkachev, clean Pak, Chow half, toe half to double front half-out, a little underrotated so ends up a hair short but aside from some leg form and a step it’s pretty solid! 13.800

7:49 pm. Joscelyn Roberson FX: Saw this from the full-twisting double layout, a bit short with her chest down. Double layout also really short, kind of a rough landing on that one and has to take a big lunge forward out of it. 13.650

Harlow Buddendeck UB: 13.300

7:48 pm. Izzy Stassi BB: Slips on the layout stepout mount and comes off. Side aerial to layout stepout went well as did the full turn. Front aerial to jump with a wobble and pause before the back handspring. Decent double tuck, chest down on the landing. 12.400

Nola Matthews UB: 13.200

7:44 pm. Ally Damelio FX: Gorg whip to triple full! Memmel had an extra half turn in it, lovely mistake. Hit the leap series after that. Nice work on the 1.5 to front full. Solid double tuck with a step back. 13.350

7:42 pm. Skye Blakely UB: Stalder to Church, Downie to Pak, leg separation on the latter. Toe full with minor body line deductions to a decent van Leeuwen, toe half to front giant to double front half, some leg form especially on the twist but lands so well! 14.350

Reese Esponda VT: Some form throughout the Yurchenko double full, bounce on the landing, could be more explosive but not bad! 13.750

Catherine Guy BB: 12.750

7:41 pm. Alicia Zhou FX: Clean double pike with a hop back. Switch ring to tour jeté half. 1.5 to front layout with minor form in both. Switch half. Split jump full. Front full to finish. Simple but lovely work here as always! 12.850

Tiana Sumanasekera VT: Clean throughout most of the Yurchenko doubl efull, not a ton of power. 13.950

Tatum Drusch BB: 12.600

7:39 pm. Hezly Rivera UB: Weiler half to toe full to Chow to Ricna, lovely throughout! Very clean Pak. Maloney to Tkachev, a little low on the release but both skills also clean. Basically sticks the full-in. Well, this was great. 14.150

Brooke Pierson VT: Solid Yurchenko 1.5. 13.450

Jordis Eichman VT: Good enough on the Yurchenko full. 13.100

7:38 pm. Leanne Wong UB: Clear hip half to straddle Jaeger, toe full with some form breaks to Bhardwaj, also some leg form there. Clean Maloney to Pak, short handstand before a clean van Leeuwen, excellent double layout. 13.950

Dulcy Caylor VT: 13.900

Annalisa Milton FX: 12.600

7:36 pm. Jayla Hang BB: Got the wolf turn out of the way nicely at the start. Side aerial was clean and solid. Split jump to straddle jump to layout stepout, super nice control throughout that series. Bhs to tuck full, excellent! Is it gonna be a locked in night for her?! Switch to switch side. Walks into the double pike which is excellent. OOH. 13.900

Ashlee Sullivan VT: Really low landing on the Yurchenko double full, has to squat and then run bac k out of it. 13.500

7:29 pm. Rotation 1 Standings

1. Leanne Wong 69.700
2. Hezly Rivera 69.650
3. Joscelyn Roberson 69.100
4. Ashlee Sullivan 67.500
5. Dulcy Caylor 67.000
6. Tiana Sumanasekera 66.600
7. Simone Rose 66.050
8. Gabrielle Hardie 65.800

7:26 pm. Tiana Sumanasekera FX: Clean double layout to a controlled split jump that went about 10 feet off the ground. Clean double tuck with a small bounce after that. Switch ring to switch full and double wolf turn both went well. 1.5 to front full with minor form throughout both elements. Clean double pike with a bounce back right into the corner. 13.500

7:21 pm. Jordis Eichman FX: Went a bit bouncy and out of control on the full-in landing to start. 1.5 to front full also ended up a bit short. Her music is like a haunted version of “If I Were a Rich Man” which is so weird and funny. Double tuck to finish was stronger than the first two passes. 12.350

Joscelyn Roberson BB: Catching some replay! Standing full landed with chest down but solid. Switch to switch half to back tuck, just minor leg form in the leaps. Hit the triple flight series with a break at the hips on the landing. Strong double pike with a lunge back. 13.700

7:19 pm. Brooke Pierson FX: Full-in with a hop back. Hit the 1.5 to front full with minor form. Some leg form in the double tuck but a decent enough landing. Switch leap to tour jeté half. 12.900

Simone Rose UB: 12.600

7:16 pm. Izzy Stassi UB: Really had to muscle through the Weiler half and didn’t connect to the Bhardwaj. Maloney to clear hip full was rushed with lots of leg form issues and finished out of handstand, to a solid enough Tkachev, Pak had some form issues and then she had to stop her swing after it, just off from the start though a good job trying to push through a difficult set. Van Leeuwen without amplitude but gets it to the high bar. Full-twisting double layout with a small hop. 11.500

Harlow Buddendeck VT: 12.800

Ally Damelio BB: 12.900

7:14 pm. Dulcy Caylor FX: Lovely control on the Memmel turn to start. Double layout, a little pike down as she comes in for the landing but fine overall. Whip full through to double tuck to punch front tuck, gets this today after missing it on Friday! Really squatted landing on the punch front but better than nothing! Double pike is clean with a small hop back. Switch ring to tour jeté half to finish. 13.200

7:13 pm. Nola Matthews VT: Tucked her legs a bit on the Yurchenko full, looked like she just didn’t get the push off the table she needed and had to compensate as this is usually much stronger. 12.850

7:12 pm. Catherine Guy UB: Weiler to straddle Jaeger, some flexed feet. Lost her form completely in the toe full with legs kind of everywhere but connected to the Pak, toe-on to van Leeuwen was fine, dismounted with a clean double tuck, stuck. 12.300

7:11 pm. Hezly Rivera VT: Yurchenko double full looked really nice! Big bounce back but solid in the air, only minor leg form really just near the end. 14.050

Alicia Zhou BB: Only saw the 1.5 dismount. 13.250

7:10 pm. Ashlee Sullivan FX: First pass is a double double, some wild leg form before she lands but the landing itself is solid. Gets through the leap series well enough before the double layout, really good there, big lunge back. Double wolf turn was fine. Front full through to double tuck. 13.800

Tatum Drusch UB: 13.250

Leanne Wong VT: Didn’t get to see this but looks like she must’ve done the Cheng! Yesss, just saw the replay, it was pretty great! Almost stuck, just slightly moved a foot. Chest a little forward but nothing major. 14.600

7:09 pm. Annalisa Milton BB: She hit everything I saw at the beginning but came off on the wolf turn. Switch leap to split jump, strong front aerial, dismounted with a layout full. 11.250

7:08 pm. Jayla Hang UB: Weiler half with some form to toe full to Pak, toe-on to Maloney to Tkachev, good! Double layout with some leg separation but a great landing. 13.450

Gabrielle Hardie BB: 12.050

7:06 pm. Claire Pease VT: They didn’t show her first vault but I assume it was a Yurchenko double full. Yes, looked great in the replay! 14.000

Alessia Rosa UB: 12.650

7:04 pm. Reese Esponda FX: Double double to start, lunge back but good otherwise! Double layout set looked a little low BUT it was still good in the air, big hop back on the landing. Good work getting the wolf turn around. Split jump full after that was fine. Front layout half right to double tuck is very iconic of her. Clean double pike to finish. Really strong routine! 13.650

7:02 pm. Should be getting started any second now!

6:57 pm. Athletes are just getting into the touch warmup for the first rotation!

For a little recap, Hezly Rivera led the competition after day one, but was followed pretty closely by Joscelyn Roberson and Leanne Wong, both of whom are in a place to take advantage if Rivera makes any mistakes today!

  1. Jayla is just unclutch atp. She does well when no one cares or is thinking about her and flops when its on the line. Sorry but that can’t go to worlds. She needs to prove shes got it.

    Hezly, Leanne, Joscelyn, Skye

Jayla (and Ashlee and Claire) can get the chance to proce themselves at a team worlds.

  2. Leanne’s VT combo and Skye being able to produce the best hope of a UB/BB final spot were the only consequential things we learned at nationals. I think we can bank on them getting team spots at World’s assuming nothing dramatic changes.

I was impressed with how improved Hezly looked than at Classics. Some of the scores getting handed out here were nuts though, especially on FX and BB – things getting credited that shouldn’t and artistic issues that weren’t deducted.

We’re definitely looking at good chances of medals on VT and AA; anything else, I think remains to be seen and might rely on international favorites having bad routines. A lot can change in 2 months though.
